Is there a way I can get this to work on cm9.1? It doesn't recognize the ir blaster on my p3113. Maybe a flashable zip?
As far as I know, only stock based roms. Because proprietary Samsung drivers, which have yet to be released open-source, are needed.

Trust us... If the devs for non-stock ROMs could get it to work, you wouldn't be asking that question...

I've been searching the forums but can't find one. Does it exist?

No. It was always ported as a part of ROM, since it has to include drivers etc - which means kernel support.
Hey guys. Unlike many posts I've read, I actually love the TV app that comes stock with the One and its one of the many things that really make me reconsider rooting & using different ROMs. I love having the IR blaster and I think its one of the many things that makes this phone unique. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good app that is similar to the TV app that I could find in the play store (or elsewhere) that I could use without stock. Thanks!

Smart ir remote is the best one i tried. Here you can see a review:

The IR blaster will not work currently with AOSP roms though correct? Only Sense based ones IIRC.
The IR blaster will only work on Sense ROMs and 4.3 Google Edition ROMs. AOSP and 4.2.2 Google Edition don't have the drivers for the IR blaster.
I also like the TV app and would like to see if it could get ported to a GE 4.3 ROM. I tried moving the TV apk and IR blaster apk to the GE ROM but the app kept force closing

I've moved this thread to the proper sub-forum. Please be mindful to post questions only in the Q&A sub-forums next time
I wanted to know the state of the IR blaster developement for AOSP ROMS/Builds. As I gather now it does not work but is anyone working on reverse engineering this problem?
Also, it does work on any Sense based builds right?
Please fill in the blanks or correct anything that is wrong with my statements/Questions.
Regards!

I know that there are a few AOSP/CM based roms that do have a working IR blaster. The only problem is that you have to find a ir blasting application that takes the place of the HTC TV app.
And yes, every stock HTC Sense rom will have a functioning IR Blaster and HTC TV unless specified otherwise.

It works on GPE since 4.3
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I run AOKP which was just pushed to 4.3. I'll try updating tomorrow and see. I'm not sure the GPE drivers would have made it over yet, or be supported by the kernel for AOKP (sethyx). I'll have a look around again though as see if I can get it working.
Any ideas on a good controller app to try out?
Smart remote

Is Smart remote that app that was pulled from the GP store and then open sourced by the Dev?
Anyway, I updated to a 4.3 version of AOKP and grabbed a decent IR App. It's definitely working now, which is great. =p Now any recommendations for an IR receiver compatible with openELEC?
So even if we get the ability to flash a custom rom. Would the pen work in an AOSP based ROM? Or are the pen featured tied into touchwiz?
If so, wouldn't focusing on modifying stock with tools like wanam be more beneficial?
Just a thought...

AOKP had S-pen support on note 2. Not sure how great it was but I know it was there.

Spen works perfectly on other ROMs. You don't get Samsung-specific app stuff like air hover or what not, and SPen specific apps won't work, ie: those using the Samsung SPen SDK. There are plenty of drawing apps etc that provide a similar toolbox but have no dependencies on a Samsung ROM.
I recently installed the Omni 4.4.2 20140306-tolte-NIGHTLY on my Tmo GN2 because I need the Bluetooth tethering option. However, I need Samsung Hub so I can install gear manager on my phone. I tried installing the apk file with no success. Can someone please help?

I'd bet this is yet another case of Samsung designing software to break on anything than their own firmware.
Most likely. I've read that as long as I have a deodexed international custom ROM, I can make it work. The international ROM gives me the Bluetooth tethering option I need and a deidexed version skies me to install Samsung apps.

The whole point of many people working on projects such as Cyanogenmod and Omni on Samsung devices is to remove all of Samsung's bloatcrap.
In the case of Gear - Why would anyone purchase it when there are cheaper and better options that are fully compatible with all Android devices instead of Samsung's restricted bull****?
It's utterly stupid that the Gear, which (given all of its onboard processing resources) should be able to operate in a more standalone fashion than any of the other smartwatches out there is, instead, the MOST dependent on its host device!
I appreciate the feedback. When I purchased the Galaxy Gear, I guess I assumed I could make it do what I wanted to do since we all pretty much have those capabilities when it comes to rooting and third party custom ROMs. I'm sure there is another way, a back door, if you will to get through installing gear manager. My first thought was to find the APK file and install it that way, but the procedures I've tried doesn't seem to work. If there isn't a way yet, then this is something for the techies to try and sort out.

I think I might've found it, but I can't verify because I don't have my gear with me, but I searched aptoide, found gear manager and installed it to my phone. I'll reply later if this works with my device.

No luck. Back to square one. The application downloaded and installed and even paired to my device, but nothing else showed up on my gear.
