Hard Bricked Galaxy Tab! - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

I rooted my Tab with Clock Mod and I'm still on contract I installed the wrong ROM (Stupid Mistake) I clicked reboot now nothing happens?
I do get a driver connection when I press the power button for 10 seconds on The PC (not my pc A friends) The tab is my only device to the Internet besides I'm writing this from his PC.Of course the screens blank.
Please Help, I'm on contract with a carrier paying for A not working device I'm hoping to get it working and restoring but to A stock/un rooted versrion.
Yes i was rooted and had Clock Mod when trying to install A ROM being dumb. As I said You can ear the driver sound in the computer when pressing the power for 10 secounds but no screen, I hope there is a way to reverse this and get back to my orginal boot loader.
Thanks :.(
If i can save i be staying on stock software.

Does Odin recognize the device

I am with spudster
Odin Does not recognize the device, but when i plug it into my desktop i can her the input sound, but i look in device manager and the device will not pop up, but although when i hold the power button for 10 seconds it will start making the driver sound, it makes the driver sound like i am pulling the usb cable in than out, the driver sound stops as soon as i release the power button. i we have tried to put the device in download mode, blind folded. I have looked up on youtube and all i found was Jtag.Look This Up On Youtube ( Samsung Galaxy TAB 8.9 (LTE) - JTAG Brick Repair Servic) .But i couldnt do this bbecause the tablet is also owned by a carrier.. Please Help, Thank you

If Odin doesn't recognize the device you're in trouble. I would try to flash the stock rom with odin but I don't think it will work. But maybe you get lucky. If it's still under warranty you could try that. Just play dumb and say it stopped working and you don't know why. Otherwise jtag is your only other option.
God promised men that he'd put beautiful women in all corners of the world. Then he laughed and laughed and made the world round

OK,The computer detects it but odin won,t I will try to get A JTag service
if theres nothing else that can fix it :.(

Try to flash using ADB !
---------- Post added at 12:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:02 AM ----------
If irs detected by the pc ADB should work! Worth a try mate

None of these works, except for the jtag, which i havnt done yet... i need to buy a jtag and figure out how to use it??

No. Google mobiletechvideos. It's a service you send your device to and they jtag it.

The computer is only detecting it

Have you installed the device drivers on the PC? Odin wont recognise the tab without them.
If you can get into download mode, install drivers (or Kies) on PC and then odin should see the tab when connected.

Re
Yep, i have downloaded all the drivers for my device....
well i have let my battery go FLAT and now i am getting this device driver Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM6) So i try odin again because thinking that the COM6 at the end would be recognized and it still doesnt turn on, i have looked for jTagers around my state there is hardly any and the only one is over seas.... Is there any other ways to do it with a program

..
Only thing it is doing though reconizing An driver when we plug it in the computer.
If there is A way to reverse the firmware changes back to stock This would be A relief.
We could take it to a tech or back to samsung to repair with orginal firmware but that may not be in A few months since I will need to save the money.
The tab was fine untill I mistakly flashed the wrong Firmware (stupid me)
Thanks for the help so far.

Hey
We could try this

It's not recognized when the phone is on? Seeing as you posted this topic using your phone I assume so lol. Have you tried restarting your computer?
You can download the correct drivers here.

Make sure you are using the oem usb cable. I had the same problem, changed cables and it worked
some cheap cables are for charging ... bt headsets and other stuff the data cables dont connect, its just for power.

You gotta make sure that your usb port is directly connected to your motherboard (usually back of your computer).
same usb port that has always worked. ive tried them all by now anyway

it must be a powered usb hub, on my buddies laptop only 1 out of 4 usb ports saw his phone.
if you can get into download mode you arent bricked.
try installing i9000 drivers, or try another computer.
I came up with this a while back. Could very well be the same issue.
Let me start by saying I'm flash happy, and everyone that knows me personally, tells me to just quit jacking with my phone. NOT A CHANCE! I'm on my 3rd Cappy and shouldn't have ever exchange it again. I only had to in the beginning, because I was a newbie and had not know enough, but to get me in trouble.
I presume that this should work on all Windows OS's. I personally am running Vista Enterprise x86.
My symptoms:
Plug in phone to the usb and it there was about a 15% chance off being able to mount to usb, and Windows recognizing as a mass storage device. I tried un-installing drivers and re-installing and it would work some of the time, until the point came when parts of the driver install would fail. Then to the point when it was just completely unrecognizable. I thought I had it fixed because it seemed intermittent. In the middle of flashing to stock, something interrupted communication between the pc and my phone. Restarted the phone and attempted the flash again. Got a little farther and froze again. I had to use another pc that I had never connected my phone to before and I was able to use my jig to trigger download mode, because no buttons combinations would allow it into download mode.
This got me thinking that it was specific to my pc and not my cable or my phone.
My resolution:
I went straight to the registry and went to find. I deleted every entry that came up for "i897" and "i9000" excluding what was listed in the system volume information, as I didn't have permissions to remove any keys. I didn't keep count, but I probably deleted 300-400 registry keys that pointed to my phone. It seems as if with each developers rom that I had flashed, there was an entry for a different device. Don't quote me on that, because it is just my personal consensus. I also un-installed the samsung drivers, the unknown device driver, kies software, and anything associated with samsung. I noticed that next to all of the i9000 instances, the hex key for me started with 1000ee. So I also searched for the first part of that key trying to ensure that all instances of the device. Lastly, I deleted the samsung folder from program files.
I installed the samsung drivers package commonly listed in all of the other threads for x86 operating systems. I plugged in my phone and watched as each and every driver installed successfully. Keep in mind different drivers are installed depending on if you have usb debugging on/off, and the options for if the preferences on you phone are set to media, storage, or kies. I have multiple usb ports, however testing has shown me that, for me and my setup, I can plug into the port that I used when installing the drivers the final time, I am able to connect consistently. Earlier today, I tried to plug into a different usb port and it was an unknown device. I am led to believe, this is because I didn't un-install the unknown device on this particular port.
If you intend to work in the registry, please remember to always back it up first. You can always restore.
Hopefully my findings can help you as they did me. Happy flashing and I would like to thank the community for the dedication to assisting each other and the developers, for making flashing, better than crack cocaine. Flashing rom's doesn't make you twitch near as much as a crackhead.
Well since you can't use your phone you should sell it to me

[Q] Phone useless even though able to go Download Mode

My phone is screwed and I can't enter recovery mode as it will just boot loops when I do the 3 buttons combo. Used to be able to get into recovery mode without any issue before though.
I can't boot my phone too. But as much as I know, my phone is safe as long as it can go into Download Mode. Reflash to stock ROM seems to be the option but with any computer, the error USB not recognized occurs. I cannot get any computers in this world to recognize my phone.
Sent it to repairs in some local stores, they are unable to figure it out too. Anyone can tell me what to do?
so you have tried every PC in the world ?? that must of been time-consuming.
have you been into device manager and check what it says under your USB connection ?
what ROM was you using before this happened as many custom ROMs now use nexus s drivers. perhaps you could try those ??
I was using stock deodexed JVK. Not really but I have tried every possible computers I could come by. lol.
JJEgan suggested USBDeview to me but I failed to understand what he was trying to explain to me.
I haven't went to check out device manager but I have a feeling my phone isn't samsung anymore lol. somewhat like a wipe out?
i dont know what USBDeview is. but im sure they will be some sort of tutorial on google.
press the reset button of doom, its under the back cover between the camera and speaker.
if you dont fancy your chances then just try the nexus drivers. if they have changed (which some roms change them from samsung drivers) then that could be why your phone is not detected.
try also cleaning the USB lead, check there are no bent pins, cuts to the cord, dust in the connector. same goes for the female on your device.
If I press the reset button, what's gonna happen.
the clue is in the name lol
my phone gets screwed up even more? haha. So my only option now is to try the Nexus S driver?

exactly. thought everything would be fine if i send them for repairs, but none of them who are supposed to repair my phone figure anything out. obviously there is another issue worse than SGS being bricked.
By the way, would you try giving a shot by installing the Nexus Drivers and let me know if it works? My phone is still in the shop with people trying to figure it out.
i already had these drivers installed yday :S thru the sdk manager, that was when my pc detected my phone, odin detected it,i goto flash,n boom ,all gone,so i assume the drivers r still there but my phone isnt gettin detected no matter what,

alright thanks. would like to hear updates from you. when mine is figured out, i would update it here too : )
hey buddy,
i got some hope 4 u,its that if ur phone is goin into download mode, dont worry abt it,cause i have unbricked my phone...i went to my friends house, who also has a galaxy,n he had kies in his pc,the older version,n the drivers with which kies comes,so i tried connectin it to his pc,n my phone got detected,
got odin, some custom rom,n flashed it,n it got stuck on the galaxy s screen,so went into recovery, wiped data, cache,n reboot,n it was up n running again.....
so id say try gettin the older kies n keep tryin in different coms....
wish u luck

It all happened when I restore what i Backup-ed from the Recovery Mode. I was told that is a stupid thing to do which cause my phone to be screwed up.
To be reminded, my phone was in deodexed JVK stock ROM.

[Q] Restoring Captivate from AT&T World Phone Screen

Hey folks. I'm hoping to get through this in one piece, with one walkthrough.
I recently messed up in flashing a Rom to my Captivate. It cleared the phone of firmware and left me with the AT&T splash screen.
I bought a jig, and am now at the "Downloading..." screen and am trying to take this slowly to ensure a properly functioning phone (I've been without for two weeks now).
I've read through the sticky post [link]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364[/link] and have most of the downloads. The Odin link is dead, and I don't have the proper version (I used a version I later found out was bad).
What I'm hoping for is to get someone to show me where the proper version of Odin is, and maybe give me a quick guide to doing this for a Rogers Galaxy S Captivate.
I hope I'm not coming off as lazy, but I tried this solo, and it went awry. Thanks for any help in advance.
This is the link for Odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
You want to Open Odin, then use the jig to put the phone in download mode, connect usb to your computer and wait until odin recognizes your phone. Click Start and sit back and wait. You should then be able to put whatever rom you want on the sd card and flash
Okay. I got the proper download, and used Odin. It reported success.
I haven't unplugged the phone from the computer yet, but it's also not showing as a drive on my computer. I'm at the stage where I'm supposed to root the phone after using Odin and before flashing.
Should I unplug the phone, or is that going to send me back to square one?

If you used that Odin 1 click you will have the AT&T version, it will work but you will have the AT&T boot up screen. After it is finished your phone should reboot by itself. If it didn't try pulling the battery and then turn it back on.
Driver Installation Issue at Fault?
Okay, so I'm starting to wonder what's going on with the communication between my phone and my computer. I have the drivers, but when I try to install them (64 bit, for a dual-core, right?), it claims to fail.
I think maybe that this is the reason I can't get the computer to recognize the drive. Also, when plugged in last time, it said it failed to install drivers again. Even when the phone was operational, I had issues with that.
So . . . I'm wondering if maybe I solve that and the issue becomes seamless. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, as it seems I'm stuck until I get the phone to register. Even Odin won't see it now, although I've already passed that step. F-Bomb.
Did you get the drivers right from samsung web site if not thats why they wont install i had same thing when i got my cappy.
I got drivers from.samsung.com installed em worked perfect sence. i kept the download saved had to install em a few times over the last 9 or so months. Only because of all the dam software hardware i run. Good luck
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Just because it's a dual core processor in the computer doesn't mean you have a 64 bit OS.
You might want to know what version of windows you have...just a thought.
Okay . . . I can't seem to resolve this driver problem, nor can I move forward in the previous issue of getting my phone back to a functional state.
I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong that everyone else managed to avoid. Could I maybe request some one-on-one time with an experienced Rogers user? Just to recall the exact steps they took in order to successfully UNSCREW their phone.
Again, I appreciate all the help. Every post is making progress. I'm just frustrated at my ineptness with solid state installations.
I'm still not able to install the drivers or get my computer to register the phone as a drive. I did a bit more reading, but I've found nothing but different driver links. Has anyone else had this installation failure?
I have had driver problems before...try plugging up phone; on computer control panel, device managment , go to were it has device (just click then till se something about samsung) then uninstall drivers, next unplug phone, reinstall drivers that are on design gears (developer) thread for odin one click, next plug up phone sbf it will say new hardware and install drivers then see if that works... Ps if need to just pm me and I will get back to you to try and help

Captivate suddenly not detected by PC

ok first off I have searched and have yet to find a sollution. So if there is one please flame me and point me to it.
Problem : I have 2 computers, both win 7 x64 pro. my desktop does not detect any cell phone, my friends droid 1 or my samsung captivate..... Both have all the drivers installed. That is a small problem because i have a laptop that does ( DID)
Big problem : phone having problems, me flash captivate and flash fail ( i think i used odin 2.2 flasher which for some reason doesnt want to work, i tryed it a few times before... but anyways so I'm in download mode and now the computer wont detect my phone, just like my desktop, I get the UNKNOWN USB device or the usb device did not install correctly blah blah blah malfunction... SO now I'm able to get into DL mode but thats it.... so where is the fix for this? Please help . its so strange that no changes were made and it goes from having worked for months to not working at all suddenly...
Again neither odin v 2.1 or v 2.2 ( as in froyo and eclar) will detect phone nor will the hemdol program or what evs.... so i can not boot past download mode. Please help .
the answers are out there... itll just take a bit of reading... however sounds like there are program incompatibilities somewhere not allowing your drivers to install especially after you said drivers did not install blah blah. Also try changing usb ports when you plug it in and go through and check to make sure all you usb drivers and ports are functioning properly. Furthermore check to ensure your charging port isnt loose and or pins bent or broken same with your cable.
try this as well... says right click and run odin in admin etc.

What rom are you on? CM7 MIUI?
Well huge problem... for some reason the phone wont charge now so now i cant even get in DL mode and before that i couldnt for the life of me no matter what i read find a fix for the USB issue. idk what the **** it is but its really annoying.... I was using OFFICAL 2.2 and was trying to reflash it and try it again or flash 2.1 because i was getting random restarts. then the flash failed for some reason first time ever I think ( i seriously have flashed about a dozen times since ive had my phone over 9 months, So i know alot and have read alot, have a jig and all that jazz) so i know what im doing... I just got my phone back from samsung about a month ago they fixed a random button pressing problem, and now the turning off on a Stock rom ( plus firefly prior, why i went back to stock) made me paranoid, plus i use it as a clock for work so i cant have it turn off randomly at all. So what am I to do? I possibly can use my friends battery for a bit or my womans... but im thinking maybe this has less to do with computer now and possibly that my phone fried or something that i should send it in to samsung for warranty repair...since obviously if it was restarting on a new 2.2 instalation obviously there were probably some problems...
I read a similar story of this randomly happening to another experienced user on google, and he sent it in to samsung and they just sent him a new phone... my AT&T warrianty is long gone on my refurb but i still got 3 months left with samsung... idk why it isnt even charging on wall outlet or computer...
what to do?
Did the phone go "dead" after a failed firmware flash? Or it literally just all of a sudden won't charge? If it was truly random then it's a hardware problem all the way and most likely an issue with the USB port or a trace routed through it. Only 2 lines control charging and the Captivate is notorious for a pretty solid port from my findings.
Well I left my phone in the wall for hours and I guess it does charge so its not completely dead. Now just the issue of reflashing stock on there... so getting the USB to work in my computer. I take it the USB in the phone isnt dead or the JIG wouldnt work... I just want to know if the Random shut off is hardware related or a bad flash / rom? Anyone know what has less problems? 2.1 or 2.2? I dont think my keyboard is in 2.1 so i dont think i could take it... but i just want a working phone with my gingerbread keyboard <3 I just dont want it to turn off on me...
and now randomly odin's will still not detect, but heimdol will, but it fails about 18% into factoryrfs or what evs. And Yes I have used it before and yes I am following all directions. WTF this is blowing my mind... and yes repartition is selected
Are you using an OEM Samsung Cable? Don't use knock off cable for anything more than charging...
just fyi if u rooted ur phone and samsung checks the programing to find out and trouble shoot it will void your warranty and youll have to pay for it... so um maybe try spending the 50 and go with a refurb thru insurance.
Yes I'm using stock cable...
ANd its not rooted, its not ANYTHING since there is no OS on the phone so no way to see anything to void anything...
now most things ( on different computers) will detect the phone and all odin and heimdol but they will both fail at the beginning of any flash... Its like nothing can be pushed through the phone.... ?

It doesn't necessarily screw with it. Heimdall installs a custom WinLIB USB driver to operate with Samsung Composite USB devices. This driver is used for Samsung Download mode which ODIN doesn't recognize. To switch back to using ODIN, you just need to go into device manager and uninstall the device and be sure to DELETE DRIVER FOR THE DEVICE. Then just plug the phone back in when in DL mode and the Samsung driver will be re-installed. However, this is really beginning to sound more like a hardware problem. I emailed you back and would be happy to put a final diagnosis or repair on the devil phone.

SW update mode is not working, only when I connect it to PC it's detected as APX, is there any way to unbrick this phone? Is there any working APX drivers for P880? I was looking for those drivers for couple of hours without any resuts, always when I found it didn't work (when I tried manual install drivers from selected foder), always failed. Thanks for any advices.

My first attempts ended badly also, hopefully this thread will help get you into S/W update mode. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39951993
Btw, APX mode is a no go on this device.
not working even if i put the batter, any other solutions ?
only thing that will surely work is lg center. i've been on the forum for a while now and i dont recall anyone fixing the device going into apx mode by themselves, but i think i've seen someone who had it repaired by lg. we simply don't have the program they use for fixing it available

Well you need to better describe you situation, e.g what you were flashing, recovery, android version (custom rom/ kernel).

Yeah if we had nvflash access via APX mode, we could recover against any software brick, LG choose to leave this out of their bootloader which is a shame.
I tried to flash the official stock rom "V20B_00" by lg using the kdz updater, but I didnt put off battery during update software, I just hold vol down button and connected to the PC. Then started to update, i was waitting for a long time, but it didnt update, so i disconnected the phone, and now it's not turning on.
Do you think that I am able to unbrick this phone?

Im unfamiliar with how the Lg S/W update mode actually works, i would assume that its separate to the main bootloader(which by disconnecting you maybe/ most likely corrupted) but either way, you HAVE to get into the update mode to repair. Hopefully you can find a way in (search the forum), but if not its most likely a brick im sad to say
btw, is it possible to repair it via JTAG? or just one solution for it is lg service center?
I'm in a unconfortable situation, because my task was to put the europe language pack to this phone, and now its not working. The phone probably wasnt bought in country so it might be some problems with lg service center

I cant say for sure, but JTAG is very unlikely. LG will fix the phone, the question is for how much. Normally if the bootloader is gone it will require even LG replacing the motherboard. I cant comment on how much this may cost.
I'll cut it short as i've already encountered this situation
If you can't exit apx mode normally
(meaning you voluntarily entered apx mode by holding vol + & - at the same time)
you are experiencing a hard brick
Only case we could solve it is if we had apx drivers, but as you've already searched..there aren't any
If you want phone back, in my experience, only solution is service center
I know it sucks, but sometimes it happens
One thing you could do is search the web for someone who's ditching his O4X for a really low price (because of a shattered screen or other malfunction) and replace the motherboard yourself. If you're in luck that can be cheaper than a service center and then you don't have to worry about blown bootloader fuses.

so the repair by lg service center wont be for free? its official progeam from lg fault that I got bricked phone not mine, it shouldnt be for free?

You said yourself that the phone wasn't bought from your country.Even if you get over that problem they'll still replace the motherboard.I doubt you could even prove that it was their software's fault. If you can do it, like stated above, buy a cheap 4x hd from the internet and replace the motherboard.Well it's not worth the effort in my opinion.
I think you should try your luck with the service center and buy another phone if you can't get it repaired for a low price or free.
