So after i unlocked my bootloader and the thread mentioned that i will lose my Bravia Engine 2. Actually the pictures look very bad without the Bravia Engine 2, I was so impressed with the quality when i first got the phone. After i lost my BE2 they are looking terrible
Is there any bossible way that i can get it back? I tried to flash Bravia Engine 2.zip grpm another thread but didn't work

I think it is a lower level configuration and we have to wait till it is ported. Don't know about the chances for that in the near future. Can anybody explain this? This is the only thing that keeps me from unlocking the bootloader and flashing custom roms... never been this long on stock in the last two/three years
Thanks in advance
Bravia Engine is dead for us
It only work now for gingerbread, even if you relock bootloader no work for ICS and JB,.thats the consequences for us unlocking bootloaders that even the sony didnt mention!. .Bravia Engine, we cant get it back. .u want it?. .buy a new phone. .

Hello Folks,
I been search a way to port Bravia engine for CM because it's one of the reason I bought Xperia Arc. I found this thread at HD2 ★⎝⏠⏝⏠⎠★[MOD]BRAVIA tweak for HD2★⎝⏠⏝⏠⎠
The methods seems like works fine for our CM Rom as well. I compared the video with Mobo player and stock player I did notice a difference. As you know BE only works on stock gallery and video player.
You can test it out and see if it works fine.
Download and instructions can be found at ★⎝⏠⏝⏠⎠★[MOD]BRAVIA tweak for HD2★⎝⏠⏝⏠⎠
The next option we are looking for is xLOUD try this MOD it might work... [Mod] XLOUD | For X8 | 100% Work | 21/09/2011 it don't feel much difference though
Note: There is no option under settings for both Bravia and xLOUD / Do it in your own risk and make sure you make a backup of your ROM.
Edit: Apparently tin2404 has taken work from one of our developers. Thanks to zdzihu and DooMLoRD for port this feature.
Cheers...
Thanks a lot.
Nice, I test it in the next few hours.

Yes, as stated in the OP.
Bravia Engine, and other Sony features only work on Sony Locked Bootloader phones
Sony Bravia Engine seems to only work on Sony Locked Bootloader Phones, the same happens with Sony TrackID, and Xperia S Walkman "Get Music Info"

Do you mean exactly locked bootloader or just device keys must be present? You know, this is different things..
We all love the experience that CM / AOSP / AOKP etc. is bringing us.
What native functionality will be affected when running these rom on the phone?
- will the awesome sony camera software be ported to the new rom? If not, what features will we lose?
-is the so called 'bravia engine' tied to the native rom or is it closer to the hardware and will work with other roms?
-etc.
With AOSP/CM/AOKP I'm sure we might lose many camera features - don't think any of them support HDR natively etc. Also, Bravia Engine is proprietary ( i think ) and surely won't be included in CM - maybe in other custom roms, who knows, but I wouldn't count on it.
It appears then a customization of the original rom will be the better deal in this case.
Was hoping the sony camera app can be ported and that the bravia engine is lower level code.
Some features should be portable like xloud and soný's walkman but not sure about bravia and camera since they have way too much dependencies used which is stuck in some binary files which sony doesn't release the source so pretty much no I think.
I'll make custom stock rom so you will loose nothing using them only problem can be BE that won't work on unlocked bootloaders, but I hope Sony fixed this issue

So adding a feature like brightness slider in the notification area to the tweaked stock rom is doable?

Of course Should be fairly easy.
On other Sony devices, by unlocking your bootloader to flash custom rom, you loose the Bravia Engine....

No, unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with bravia engine. You'll lose it when you flash a custom rom that is not based on Sony's firmware.
EDIT: I've just read that unlocking/rooting your phone might disable DRM protected features due to security reasons. And Bravia Engine is one of them.

Who said that?
Bravia engine is a feature and when they say you lose DRM means you just can't use any apps that makes use of DRM certificates like those apps where you could rent videos on your phone. Was it video unlimited? And yeah TrackID(on the past but not now)
I have no idea - I actually find it strange, and since that's only something I read somewhere on The Verge - don't take it seriously. Somebody has to confirm this.
Ok So it's not true alot of topics could have emerged about bravia if this was the case. DRM means digital rights management and I don't see any connection about digital rights and bravia engine.
I doubt we lose BE. Let's see though.
I plan on staying stock, and probably run KA roms on it. CM10.1 will kill all features :/

Sorry for my ignorance; switching from a bootloader bearly unlockable, driverless, pain in the ass motorola atrix device to this apparently developer friendly beauty. Could you point me to some screenshots of kravappel's mods?

sorry to ask something ignorant guys, but on my HTC incredible s right now, there are many roms with the bravia engine option.
so, would it be hard to add it back in if it gets lost?

I requote myself here this time looks like I'm wrong Bravia engine does not seem to function when unlocking the bootloader now based on my research... Damn
I'm still trying to get my head around the concept of loosing the Bravia 2 Engine when you unlock the bootloader on a XSP. Having done some research I have found that Pimp my ROM allows the Bravia 2 engine to be added to any ROM and there is flashable version of BE2 (and some minor build.prop editing) bouncing around some other Sony phone's threads that allow it to be added.
I just don't understand. How can the XSP loose BE2 when unlocking the BL if there are multiple methods of adding to any other ROM?

I think you missed the point. If it can be added to any other ROM, it can be added back into a XSP ROM when it is lost after unlocking the bootloader. I guess should have asked, is there any difference in the way the ROM would use BE2 after it has been "lost" by unlocking bootloader but added back in to the ROM by flashing libs/files and adding the required lines in build.prop?
Guys, is there a difference between the original Bravia Engine 2 that comes with the phone and installing Bravia Engine mod or feature that comes with Pimp My Rom app ?
The reason I ask is because I lost my DRM license by unlocking my bootloader before taking TA backup and wanted to know if it really can be installed as mod afterwards.
u can't. if u didn't backup ur TA u have lost bravia... forever
i'm not asking if i can get my drm license back, i'm asking about the difference between the original BE2 and the mod in pimp my rom.
I think it's better if you ask the app developer

alternativly existenz rom has x-reality engine implemented from honami, i never actually tried to see if it works but it's supposed to.
you can try that
no i tried it and it didnt work for me so if you lost it it, then you lost it for good ATM.
..i can join this noble quest of idiots who unlocked bootloader without TA backup :epicfail:

Hi friends. I need a big help about BE2. I lost the bravia engine for the second time after unlocking the bootloader(the first time,I got my bravia engine back after installing 4.4.4.but for the second time,I forgot to make a backup for TA partition).so,is there anyway to get the bravia engine back in Lollipop? Is there any files that I can flash to get my BE back?BTW I am using stock 5.1.1 with Xposed.Pls give me some suggestions...

PS: Now that I think of it, I installed a modified stock rom with X-Reality and seems to be working http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/rom-purex-z-v1-0-t3212535
DRM Restoration is working with lollipop. Last time i've save my DRM keys was 2-3 months ago, after it i've flashed many custom roms and with package for drm restoration i can have x-reality etc without reverting back to 4.4 for keys. After rom flash you need to flash drm restoration package only.
