Problem - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can samsung always see that my note 1 was rooted a while ago and is there a way to make it so that it was never rooter or had a custom rom running on it so i can send it back to samsung under garantie
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app

you can flash a stock rom using odin.. this will remove all custom rom parts like recovery , kernel etc.. also you need to check if the binary counter is 0 in download mode and there is no yellow triangle at boot. also you could transfer all imp backups and root apps to ext SD card and format the internal sd..

I already have stock installed through odin but my counter is 1 can i get it back to 0 ?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app

hmm.. you will need to root again and use the triangle away app by chainfire

I dont have a yellow triangle the only thing is is my counter binary and they could see that it was rooted can i set that to 0
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app

yes use triangle away

They could see that it was rooted. 1time is that also. Away after using triangle away
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

i dont understand.. on stock rom if you use triangle away, it will reset it to 0.. then no way to know

What i mean is they could see that the phone has been rooted before after use triangle away is than also the root Stats that says that it has been rooted before gone ?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

not sure what stats are you talking about.. after using triangle away app, it will make the one that says 1 to 0 and also say Samsung official there... once its one.. you nee to flash the stock rom again to remove the root and they will not cme to know.

Your phone is not rooted if it has no SU and no CWM.
Download titanium backup from store to see whether it works.

which Method did you used to root ? I suggest that you use CF-Root with InitialCFRootFlasher follow the steps in this post you will not encounter any of binary counted and yellow triangle. I am ready for farther help if needed.
Which ROM you have installed on note?

Where is cut, copy, paste????

Guys am in ICS LP8 INDIA. I could get that pointer in text box but if I touch the pointer it doesn't pop up select, copy, paste icons???? How enable this back?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
It's on the top right of your screen... 3 buttons for copy paste and so on...
Gesendet von meinem GT-N7000 mit Tapatalk 2
Some apps, stupendiously dont have that functionality, but when you press on word you want to copy paste, you get that box in top corner.
You will find ICS manual on Samsung website, on the note page. Handy for cross reference

Ok its tricky, reboot, try replying with qoute, then press on word untill you see as attached.
If it still isnt working, then it really sucks. Maybe someone else has seen this before?

WTF???? This really sucks... Still I don't get it I can see a blue single arrow...that's it. It doesn't do anything when I press.
Edit: and I don't get that option anywhere in the phone!!!!

Crap that sucks. Best I can suggest is revert to gb by pc odin, in gb do factory reset from dialer, wipe everything and then pc odin ics, again. And then perform the rooting instructions to the letter.
For install guide see dr ketans thread.
Unless someone has better idea?

Alright am getting to work now.. I'll try tonight as you said and get back to you..
Edit : should I do a full wipe and factory reset in ICS itself?

2. Select cwm.zip from external memory
3. Install by confirming.
4. Reboot into cwm recovery.
5. Select su busybox.zip from internal memory.
6. Instal by confirmng.

Whatever you do, do not perform factory reset unless you have safe ICS kernel.
BTW, double tapping words or tapping and holding on text for a couple of seconds pops out cut/copy/paste menu.
In certain applications for example - Gmail, there's even search option.
Hope this helps.
Corrected if double tab doesnt work.

If stock kernel is the safe kernel, then I'm the CEO of Samsung and I'm going to give away S3 to every Note owner for free...kidding.
Please read the PSA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633943
All stock ICS kernels including CF-Root kernels for ICS have superbrick bug.
Your device would get bricked if you perform data wipe/nand restore using those affected kernels.
DAFUQ, Franco R3, SpeedMod 3-3 are safe kernels.
Kernel used in official cyanogenmod is also safe kernel.
All known Gingerbread kernels are safe kernels.
Before you start flashing custom ICS roms make sure you read the respective OPs throughly.

Dig in Q&A and General section, you would find a lot of bricked my note, write failure threads.

Odin stock has kernel brick issue?

Hi I just got a Note and I'm trying to sort through all of this kernel brick stuff. If I Odin flash one of the stock ICS images will I have an issue? If so, what do I need to do to fix it?
Sorry for possible repeated question but I didn't see this answered and can't tell what's current and what's old.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
I bought my note today.. Opened the box, connected to pc in Odin mode, flashed a stock gb rom rooted, then installed mobile Odin and flashed a kernel with cwm, downloaded cm9 and now I'm rocking safe ics with no brick bug and no yellow triangle count down..
Go here follow all that.. And live your life with no worries avoiding this way all the troubles
Btw.. After I flashed cm9 I had to boot into ics and then reboot into recovery mode again to be able to flash gapps...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I bought the phone used and the guy had already loaded CM9. Android OS is sucking up 30% of my battery when I don't touch the phone most of the day. So I wanted to try a stock load to see if it got better battery life.
If I flash a stock ICS will I need to worry about the brick issue?

yes stock is not safe. on any n7000 devices. i advise flashing Stock ICS then rebooting the phone into download mode then FLASH Speedmod Kernel use PCODIN (THAT IS A SAFE KERNEL) then you can flash whatever rom you like a very stock but fast rom that i use is CLEANNOTE 2.20 , after your done flashing the rom yes you will have the yellow triangle and the binary count. but you can use an app that i posted in the APPS section called " TRIANGLE AWAY " from chainfire and that will get rid of all that stuff. the Device lasts for a very long time on that kernel. i enjoy speedmod's kernel i personally use his 3-3 version because i have no need to update it.
Awesome, thanks for the reply.

I PC ODIN flashed a stock image (N7000XXLQ2_N7000XEULP4_XEU) and rebooted, and it just sat on the boot screen. I rebooted into download and flashed speedmod kernel, and now it's still just sitting on the boot screen with a Yellow Triangle.
What should I do to recover?
Edit: never mind, data wipe fixed it

It doesn't boot??
& you say every time I install recovery??
Didn't get your problem.
Please elaborate
I got your problem ! Hoping that you meant to say that you aren't able to boot into recovery after flashing cwm, I say, just flash stock via odin, place the cwm 5.0.2.6 file on your sd, reboot into stock recovery, choose install update from sd, browse & flash cwm.zip & reboot. You must be able to get the cwm recovery the next time you try to boot into recovery...

Install stock recovery again and try installing CWM again.
You can find stock recovery thread in Android Development section of SGA
Yep I did that. But evry time I install cwm 5.0.2.6 recovery I have to odin flash it because I can never go back into recovery again. Although cwm 6.0.0.1 or Cwm 6 I forgot what it is, works on my phone.

You can try this:
If you're on stock rom.. Reset your counter if you haven't yet.
Backup your data in CWM / TWRP.
Flash stock recovery in CWM / TWRP and make a factory reset. (you won't lose root)
System Status should now be OFFICIAL (I hope)
Then you can flash back CWM with RomManager, or TWRP and restore your data.
