[Q] What factor affect to Battery life? - HTC Sensation XL

I am a big fan of Samerd's Rom since it published version 5.0
Smoothness, Add Flipping animation ...
King Kobra makes my S.XL beautiful and wonderful
it's perfect! execpt one thing...
After Version 6.0 my battery graph show me almost 45 degree
100% goes down to 10% within 3hours
Moreover, some people experience same problem at battery drain,
but some lucky guys said that threre are no problem at battery life.
so, i'm curious about that there are any factors affect battery life?
For examples, performance of radio(may differ to country?)
that's a hard problem to me who din't have a knowledge to android development
Anyway, I really hope that our device and forum would prosper more and more

if it didn't work try downloading system rom toolbox pro look inside there is a button you can press after you fully charge your battery
it should fix the problem.

Mostly it fixes battery stats but not bad battery life. What apps you have running in backround?

How to improve ridiculously low battery life?

I am on cm7.2RC and i love it so far. Its fast, smooth and works like a charm. But the only one thing i hate about it is that it has terrible battery life. Within 3-4 hours of complete charge my battery runs down to 20%. I could flash a different rom but i dont wanna do that because i'm loving this rc build, well besides the terrible battery life.
Please help.

I've been using an app called Juice Defender and it has honestly (almost) doubled my battery life. Give it a try! Worst comes to the worst, you just delete it

All juice defender does is disable the wifi and 3g when not needed. I disable them manually from habit after use and because of that battery increase was 0.
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
you can do the same thing in tasker or even more as in juicedefender. Tasker is also cheaper.
Agreed, juicedefender will only disable wifi and 3g connections.
Do it manually, without the need to install other app, and save your battery... One day with wifi disabled you hardly will use more than 10% of your battery (without gaming, just music)
Juice defender no doubt disables wifi and cellular data and ofcorse you can do it manually but it has the option of disabling wireless connections when the screen is off which saves a little more battery life. Get the free version, coz i used the Ultimate one and besides more manual options nothing else is different.

Battery burning super fast?

Whilst I have been having the screen on, it shouldn't be burning this fast and it certainly didn't use to. 23 minutes on battery and 20% burned?
Did you install a new rom or new kernel? You can install an app like BetterBatteryStats to check out what might be causing this battery drain.

Stock ROM 4.0.4 and have never rooted or flashed anything on before. It is completely stock and unaltered in every way. All I've done is install apps. It just seems to have been a little bad recently. I have BetterBatteryStats on, but the it isn't wakelocks. As I said, I've got the screen on consistently so the phone will always be awake. It is just that 20% in that amount of time seems really high, even for constant use, and I swear it didn't use to be that bad. I've installed Juice Defender because it tends to be good in how it managers network and WiFi. So far, things seem to be stabilising. But, I still want to know what can cause such sharp drainage...
Do you have a lot of apps running in the background? This is most likely the cause. Brightness is a big issue also. Flash a kernal!

Check that you have Auto-brightness enabled. Also, I found that certain apps can drain battery big time. I agree with checking via a battery stats program. Maybe an APP is running in the background causing the cpu to stay at max speed?

Totally agree. Before I root my Note to delete some unuse apps from stock 4.0.4, the battery drains very fast. The most reason is some apps running in the background.
Did you change your sim recently? Sometimes the culprit is sim card.

Not fixes, but suggestions:
- An app like Green Power will stop data usage when screen off
- As others said, look into your display. My favourite app is Display Brightness as it adds an invisible slider on your screen
- For some reason, Chrome in the last week began to EAT my phone. I uninstalled it and I'm back to a blessed 1% an hour drain

Thanks for your link, really helpful for me:good:
You may have to check your battery. Will it be hot when you are using it? Look at your battery, does it look "fat"? It happened once to me before, after changing a new battery. It's fine now. It was caused by overcharging it during the night.
I experienced it on my previous phone, now im going to prove it again in my note because i changed my sim recently and now i cannot achieved the 5 hrs i had before that my original sim card, best phone can do now is 3.5 hrs. I try to contact my provider if they can restore my previous sim card and see what will happen, its just a suspect.

u r right..all modern chargers hv that..so, it will cut off the power when charging is complete..even I do put my Note for charging & go to sleep
So, dont worry..put your charger for charging & u can confidently go to sleep :good:
If you have network location checked and or GPS in /setting/location and security.
that's your suck battery problem.
Network location awake the phone constantly in accord with weather widget and lot apps in background that use this feature.

The drain isnt caused by beats audio, it's v30b itself. You could try to use search, someone else already tried that. Then you need my system dump of v30b, replace the replaced files by beats and you ll be back to normal
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
Soo.. Beats isn't causing the drain? And btw, what is the average battery drain per hour with music being played on stock player, and 2g data connection switched on?

Gotta confess i didnt really have a close look at this yet, but what i know is, it s a lot... probably around 10-15% per hour, but i can only guess, since i didnt monitor it properly. But dont forget, that it also depends on the governor, iosched, other installed apps, that might keep the phone busy,... i ll try to have an eye on it in the coming days
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
Yep... That's what I'm getting... An hour of music, and around 15-20% drain

For me 1 hour of music about 10%... 15% isn't that bad too you know.. maybe you were listening at high volume, or used equalizers. But I don't think beats libs really acts as an equalizer..

Battery

Hey guys, I would like to share this battery saver apk with you.
One Power Guard is a unique battery enhancement tool designed to conserve your battery power an increase uptime on rooted Android smartphones/tablets.

You can even calibrate your battery.
You need to root your phone to use this apk.
Have a look to battery saving tips from my signature.
Its silly to download apps conserving battery.
They also uses battery and ram.

Yes, but this one is different. Test it if you don't believe me, it tweaks your kernel and other stuff with different settings for every mod.

Sent from my HTC Desire C using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Battery calibration doesn't work as well on newer Android devices due to many changes in the past year or so to how Android reads battery percentage, sometimes it varies form device to device.
Battery life on the DC is great compared to bigger devices, EG; Nexus 5. Mainly due to small screen and low speed CPU.

obviously it's due to ROM i think? one is Sense 4.0 and another is Sense 4.1 though..
mine (viper ROM 2.5.3) with really heavy usage(screen never off), battery last for around 6-7hours..
What's your screen time, it looks like its behaving normally cause you've got a lot of screen on/offs and it wakes at the same time
