Currently Running CM 7.2 but I am not too happy about its random performance & whenever I read others comments they seem to have a better expierience of the rom.
So. I was thinking about doing a factory reset & then reloading CM back on again etc.
Would this actually help and improve my phones performance?
Would a full factory reset lose me my Root?
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

It might improve.
But remember restoring through titanium or any back up brings it's own issues....better to install from play store
Factory reset does not make it loose root...just deleting apps, user data but to the basic form of the ROM when installed
O2X with Magical ICS ROM and magnificent kernels from my buddies
Thanks.

I was wondering how perfect of a restore a CWM restore is.
I was running a custom GB ROM (rocket rom to be exact) and it was running flawlessly. I then decided I might try this new CM9 ICS ROM.
So to be sure about the CM9 install, I figure I'd install from a stock GB Rom. So I first did a CWM backup of my current rocket rom and then I restored an older stock (rooted) ROM. It seemed to work fine. Then.... after reading about the (few) issues wit this new CM9 rom I decided I'd wait a bit longer until a few more of the quirks are worked out.
So I then restored back my Rocket rom backup and even doing the flash cache and davik cache also. But now I notice my once working Rocket ROM is experiencing a lot of SODs.
So now I'm wondering how perfect my restore was. I really don't have a lot of apps or wireless networks and can easily restore my contact list. For that reason, do you think it'll help if I do a factory reset wipe and then reinstall everytyhing....or even go so far as reinstall rocket rom and then reinstall everything else manually without any restores...would that be really the best clean install....or would any of this not make a difference at all and wiping/reinstall a toatl waste of time and my prob is actuaully something else....
Thanks
I could do with knowing the answer to these questions too.
It would be good to get a detailed idiots guide to CWM, do's and don't's etc.
Well a clean install will surely get you rid of the SODs. There is some app and its data that is conflicting with the system and crashes the whole phone. So if you are ready to clean install everything that will fix everything

sleep of death, its the device not waking up properly from sleep
Pus it doesnt include efs, so its not complete backup. Handy if yu stay n same rom version, but thats likely not.
Squicky clean install is always best. Even only app and data recovering thought titanium can mess things up. Make it laggy and nonfunctional etc, Blegh

1. Install abyssnote42
2. Factory wipe, cache, dalvik
3. Restore your rocketrom backup
That's what i do with my rocketrom v23 backup
Zapped through server hops to XDA forums
its not perfect but its the best so far
all i can say is that cwm is the best and simple thing for me so far and if u get trouble some times while trying to shift from CM9 to normal ics or from gb to ics all I suggest is use redpill recovery from abbysnote

Yeah, mine does that from the clock on Dragon ICS 2.4 when charging it didn't use to, started since I started Dual Booting. 2.5 is out in the next hour or so according to the Dev page. Hope it fixes an otherwise awesome ROM.. Otherwise it's back to single booting and possibly on to Omega 12 until CheckROM is released..
Howdy,
My head has been swimming with the wealth of information about the ICS update, however I wanted to ask my own questions.
1. I plan on ordering the Galaxy Note this week and wanted to know if get the ICS update -- is it ok to stall. Please note, I'm talking as vanilla as can be -- no interest in rooting, flashing, or installing by any other means than OTA. Are phones being updated this way at risk for the bricking that's been talked about?
2. If I decide NOT to accept the upgrade and stay on GB -- how do I keep the phone from giving me update messages, and wanting to auto install. I may not want to update and don't want to be nagged every 5 minutes. Do I have to root to kill this or is it as simple as a setting?
3. Did they take away features with ICS? I know about the brightness/swipe/notification bar but what else? Did they take anything out of S-Planner?
I'm soo excited to be owning this phone. I don't think I could ever go back to anything smaller.
Thanks!
AC.
1. Yes you can stall the upgrade
2. You can disable update messages in settings if you so want.
3. No they mostly added features and imo ICS is much better than GB.
ICS is so much better than GB, stability, performance and features. I think if you upgrade via OTA and are not rooted you would be okay as long as you do not wipe any kind of data or do a factory reset. There was one person that bricked doing a factory reset in settings so better not take the chance until we can get the eMMc bug solved.
If you ever get adventurous, your best bet right now is to get to a CM9 kernel or now Franco or Speedmod kernels since they are safe.

So do you mean that if after you update if for any reason you may have to do a factory reset, you could potentially brick your phone? That's scary. I may just wait for that to be resolved before I pull the trigger.
I'm loving the advice. Thank you kindly.
I am currently waiting for JB to be released in the UK, but getting increasingly frustrated to may go down the route of installing the leaked version.
When I moved to ICS I remember that the initial installation was poor with reliability issues and alarming battery consumption. The solution was to do a factory reset, which then required for all of the apps to be reinstalled.
I would rather avoid reinstalling all of my apps (only about 60) but would this be required for a stable install using the leaked official rom?
Also - I dont think my Note is currently rooted so as far as I am aware I think that I would lose by Text Messages also - is this the case? Or is there a way that I can back these up?
Thanks for your help.
yeah ultra clean is needed for leak and official, best to follow the route of safe way as well, just wait for official your country, or get get yur hands dirty woiding yer warrantee at own risk

LSZ install using PC Odin does not wipe your apps and data. If you want to root it afterwards boot to recovery and install Philz kernel.
Do eeeeeeet..there are lots of custom roms ( maybe even better than official versions ) in the android development section for the note. I kid you not you will be addicted to it.but read instructions carefully so that you won't brick us phablet.
U could back up your apps using titanium backup but most devs don't recommend restoring with titanium.but it works for me everytime.you could try it too.even contacts can be backed up

Hi people
I have installed CM 10.1.3(stable), but i'm experiencing a lot of lag and fairly quick battery-drain.
I have tried different kernels, but i doesn't really help.
Does anybody have any tips for helping this issue?
I was able to get full day with 44% battery left on CM nightlies

Had similiar problems before, simply wipe data, cache and system (backup ur stuff to external sd first) and flash the zip.Usually happens to me if I switch between different android versions without wiping data, system & cache
Hi All,
I had made couple of changes to my lg optimus 2x p990, when i had rooted it long back.
some of the changes are related to : CPU clock speed , RAM optimisation and couple more i don't remember all of them.
and later i had flashed original stock rom. this stock rom is creating issues now and i am not sure those settings still holds good for the stock rom. whether settings get reset or still stays intact in stock rom also.
my concern is :
can i set all the cpu ram and other settings to its factory default. i know, i should not play with processor and
ram capabilities. but to check i did and now facing some issues like. backlight wont turn off sometimes.
battery runs out very fast.display comes back after screen locked.
i am not new to this root , flash or recovery and i understand this concern well before posting in forum.
does, flashing stock rom will reset everything or do we have any tool which can bring back the entire mobile to very new state. the state to which factory reset
thanks forum contributors. we live with technology which sometime demands better knowledge. hence asking all your help to get this rectified.
in TWRP, delete user data partition 1.5 GB one. it'll reset all customized settings. flashing stock ROM will also do it for you
Do a full wipe via recovery or even write the bootloader and recovery anew and repartition via option 4 in the awesome AIO toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
will try today
