Yes it is possibe. From the root prompt on a terminal you could "dd"the correct images to the correct partitions.
However I would recommend you try to find an other PC (windows 7? ) where the usb does work, and where the correct APX driver can be installed if the phone is in the invisible recovery mode. (you will have to have a plan B if the dd fails anyway).

My pc USB ports works, my phone port doesn't, thats why i need a secure guide to going back to the oldbootloader without connecting to the PC
micro-sdcard
Try with a micro sdcard. You can see the slot if you remove the back cover.
It has saved me a couple of times
Wut?

Hello!
I did a root with odin on my device many time ago, it was successfull. But after that, when I plug the USB in the computer, it only charges. It wasn't important for me, because my device was rooted.
But nowadays I tried to update to 4.4.2 from 4.1.2, so I thought that if I wipe cache and data the USB will work again... but no, so I thought: "maybe if I unroot...", and now I have a gt-i8190n without root and with an USB that only charges.
I tried to update from SD, but the result is: "signature verification failed".
I can get in download mode, but my computer doesn't recognize the device (tried in other computers, and with other cables).
So, here is my question: Will a JIG USB solve anything?
Thanks

yes, i did it.
How can I disable signature verification? my recovery is a 3e WITHOUT modify. And remember, no root and no USB connection (nobody said was going to be easy).
PD: English isn’t my first language, so please excuse any mistakes, I'm spaniard.

I've tried many files (I can take the microSD and load files in the computer). But when I start the recovery mode and select external storage, it seems to work, until it arrives to that signature message.
Yes, my i8190n is working as good as Spain in the world cup.

I think you need to install the USB drivers for your s3 mini.
If you use TWRP as recovery then boot to recovery > settings > uncheck "Zip signature verification" then you will not again get a failed message.
Do a nandroid backup before you start flashing

The drivers are correctly installed, because the first time I rooted I had no problem, and after it, I have plugged another device (an i8190n, too) and the computer recognizes it without any problem.
I have a 3e recovery, so I can't uncheck "Zip signature verification".
May I start to look for a jig USB?

No wonder why it fails 3e recovery is the stock recovery from s3 mini. You can only flash signed zip from Samsung. You need a custom recovery for flashing custom ROMs if you still have root access then download from play store "ROM Manager" and install CWM recovery or download "[ROOT] Rashr - Flash Tool" for flash CWM or TWRP recovery.

I'm so clever that I unroot the device hoping the USB works :silly:
Can I flash a signed zip from Samsung from the SD and pray for the USB works normally again?

Put the phone in download mode and flash twrp in odin. It's the only way to put a new recovery there without root already.
Otherwise root it, and then flash recovery with rommanager or other similar app.

As I have mentioned before, my device USB only charges, there isn't communication with computer. I know how odin works, but the problem is with the USB.
I'm asking if JIG USB is the only solution, and if it will work.
Thanks for all the answers, but as I had said before... USB only charges :crying:

I'm not sure if it will work, but it's the last thing to try.
I have made an order of the jig USB, and it is supposed to arrive in 20 days (less than 2$ and free shipping). Until then, must wait... I'll will tell you if it works or not.
Thanks!

Even when you put your phone in download mode and then connect the cable?
If so, same thing will probably happen with a USB jig. They are only to force the phone to DL mode. You still have to connect it after that..
How can you tell that it charges in download mode? There is no icons for that.

Yes, when I connect the cable Odin doesn't recognize it, so I supose that only charges (it's true, perhaps it doesn't do it, there isn't any icon). It's supposed when I conncet the phone to the computer, it should pop up the "new storage" (with Odin closed), but it doesn't, only charges.
I want try USB jig, because I have read that it will put the counter to 0 (hoping is this the problem)

Counter is not set to 0 with usb jig on this device. We use triangle away for that.
If you got Kies installed, then uninstall it and install samsung drivers only.
See if there's dust in the phones usb. Take some thin plastic, but be gentle.
Just a few ideas but you've probably tried it all.

It's what I supposed, but it's a way to try if USB connection works (not 100% but if it doesn't work I will know it's a hardware problem)
I've tried uninstall Kies and install samsung drivers, I've cleaned the dust in the usb, but I don't understand what I have to do with the plastic, is the same plastic to keep food fresh? must put it on the usb?
not working yet
my USB JIG has arrived and I have tried it... and still doesn't work. Yes, it starts the download mode, but when I plug the USB to try something, the computer (ODIN) doesn't do anything. I have tried with my wife's phone and it works, it's a i 8190n, too.
I'm not going to try anything more, YOU WIN THIS TIME i8190n!
Hi, I have the same problem with my GT-8190, but it happens after my phone drop onto water..
charging is work, but it say "USB device Not Recognized" when I try to connect with PC..
now i want back to stock rom, but I can't do it if my phone not recognized to PC.
Do you have an idea how to flash official stock rom without PC(Odin)?
Sorry for my English

The support is poor man. Shouldn't have messed with it. Go on ebay and search for JTAG service. You need to mail it out and have it flashed for $30 Good luck
Just a sidenote... everytime you flash a ROM VIA anything (Not just FlashFire... I don't thing FlashFire is at fault here is I have flashed my ROM with FlashFire and it works just fine) turn on USB Debugging Mode in Developer Options.
USB Debugging Mode enables the PC to connect to the phone and apply changes/use the terminal...

Is that true even when you can't get into DL mode (ie black screen)
I bricked two GS3s, with no screen response whatsoever, but my computer (windows) would connect to the phone through USB cable (couldn't initialize the sd card though, or have Odin detect it like before)
So your saying in that situation I can still send it terminal commands?
Hit reply thanks

I'm just under the impression that if the computer *dings* at you when you have your phone plugged in then it's charging it... and if you had USB Debugging mode enabled then you would be able to act on it at least VIA command terminal... but I don't know for sure as I've never tried and the only time I bricked my GS3 (had it bricked before when I had it) I had USB Debugging mode enabled on it and was able to flash a new ROM VIA odin and unbrick it... and then I was smart enough to turn the USB Debugging mode off (for no reason whatsoever) and then I bricked it again... now I'm using GS5 and I threw that GS3 away...
Hi,
I installed Cyanogenmdo 12.1 sucessfully but after i rebooted my S3 mini it will only stay on the first screen (Samsung I8190...screen) i wanted to solve it using recovery but i cant enter recovery cause of my broken home button. I already tried to connect device to computer and use adb reboot recovery but adb dont see the device as connected (cause it´s just in the first screen).
Sorry for my bad english
I hope somebody can help me
I think that only solution ist to buy a USB Jig.

Thanks, so have the USB Jig now when I put it in it will not enter recovery but download mode. That´s good ´cause I know now that the only wrong thing I did was to hit yes when TWRP asked me ´Do you want to root your device now´a my recovery doesn´t work now. So I flashed CWM recovery via odin but I can´t enter it ´cause of my broken home button. So the next thing that I will do is to flash a new ROM via odin and then I hope I will be able to connect my device to ADB. When I will be able to connect my device to ADB I will try adb reboot recovery and see what will happen.
Hello guys,
I think the charging port of my Note 9 is a little bit damaged, because I have tried multiple pc's and multiple cables and the phone will only charge and is not being recognized as a device on my pc's.
I would like to flash TWRP on my device to flash a custom rom after... But the official TWRP app in the Google Play Store is not showing an TWRP image for the Note 9 to flash.
Is there a possibility to get TWRP and eventually a custom rom on my device, withouth using a PC?
Any help would be appreciated!

no.
u cant use a an app that would theoretically need root to accomplish flashing a ccustom recovery on a non rooted phone.
regardless, u need Odin or heimdall or any app that can access the device via usb. search and read.
( u need samsung android usb drivers on the computer. )
Thank you for your reply.
I have used Odin a lot before for different phones. I've installed the correct drivers onto my pc's and used different kinds of cables to check if that was the problem, but the phone only goes into charging mode, when connected to a pc. I have read that a buggy charging port can actually cause that problem.
I think I do not need root to flash a custom rom. Flashing a custom recovery would be enough, I think? Correct me if I'm wrong. There is a mobile version of TWRP (the app) that could actually flash TWRP on a phone via the app. But the problem is that the TWRP app doesn't support the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
I'm trying to figure out if there is another way to flash a custom rom onto my phone. But I need a custom recovery for that...

im saying that ud need root if the twrp app could flash roms within android. which implies ud have gone through the rooting process which has to flash twrp. plus i think the twrp app is just a downloader more than anything else.
anyways can you get to dl mode?
put phone off , hold bixby and vol down and while holding down the 2 buttons plug the cable from the computer
phone should go to dl mode

To rule out the charging port, grab the OTG USB adapter that came with the phone and see if you can get a flashdrive to show up in the phone.if you can't, the it's for sure the charging port .
