I have installed TWRP on my yuga using the dd command mentioned in the TWRP website.
i wanna move to the recovery that comes with CM. I installed the latest boot.img from CM using fastboot which supposedly will install the latest CWM recovery. but it still has TWRP when I booted into recovery. Any ideas how to remove TWRP and install CWM? thanks
Get hold of a stock ftf and wipe fota kernel with flashtool. Then fastboot cm boot.img again.

i am on a stock 4.4.4 (10.5.1.A.0.283) updated with flashtool and bootloader unlocked !
now to flash a recovery should i download a kernel included custom recovery or just the recovery.img file and flash it via fastboot (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)

This device doesn't have a recovery partition, so you can't flash a recovery.img.
You'll need to flash a kernel with recovery included. I suggest Dual Boot recovery with Philz Touch CWM Advanced Edition and TWRP.

That kernel is for the ZL. Don't flash it if you have a Z. Use the kernel I linked to earlier.

You first need to install a custom recovery Philz or TWRP. You pick what you want.
Then flash through Rashr.
