warning!!!
Do not try to unlock bootloader
You can upgrade to gingerdx v31b but stock one
& its upto you whether u like to upgrade or not..
But updating is recommended to keep it bug free
see boot animation without rebooting
You shouldn't unlock your bootloader, so use the stock one.
Its really up to you if you want to upgrade to latest version or not. In any case you can save a backup in order to be able to switch back if you don't like the new one
I use the v030, I liked because you can adjustment and the led

I just downloaded XGin_5.0 and extracted the zip then XGin_5.0 comes and put it in the xrecovery>backup in my sd card and it works! but its a bit glitchy

X8 custom roms mainly for E15i or E15a.......
But yours is E16i......
No idea at all....
Just wait may be someone can help out ....
Both E15 and E16 have the same configuration,(It seems to me as my friend has one)
So it should work, you might be making some mistake.
review your steps, try gingerdx or xgin 6.1,
copy the zip files on the sdcard root,
use cwm to flash.

All X8 ROMs and kernels works with W8.Use latest versions without Baseband checking.Try GCR8.4.You can edit ROM\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script in notepad for disable baseband checking.you cap unpack zip ,edit and then repack. Hope this helps.Perform a full wipe with recovery to avoiding boot loops
all roms for x8 are working on w8
bcoz same specs

how ican disable baseband checkin
I have an answer for the thread .
W8 has a different kernel or loader then x8, and this creates problem.
Initially i also had this problem, but now ma bootloader is unlocked and i only have x8 E15i kernel, because Stock E16i kernel isn't available. Thus there might be no problem installing the above stated roms after flashing E15i kernel.
Although i uses custom Kernel from our beloved devs ALFSAMSUNG and nAa.
To Original poster:
Why you aren't unlocking bootloader?
Is your phone 11W29+ ?
Just open the ROM(.zip) file using WinRAR and delete validate file then try to install the ROM agin
All u need to do is flash baseband again.... download the latest baseband (that ends with 015) and flash it using flashtool. I also own w8 and had the same problem. But now its solved and m using XGin 6.2
it doesnt works

What is the best kernel and custom rom for me? I have an xperia x8 and need one that can support dual touch as my screen is cypress. I'm currently on stock kernel with gingerxperia v13.
Which kernel is the fastest and best for playing games etc. and that can also support dual touch?
Thanks
I've been told that the nAa kernel is among the fastest... If you run the latest version of MiniCM on top of it you should have good performance. But i won't flash my kernel any time soon, i run MiniCM 2.0.7 on stock kernel now, i bricked the phone twice trying to install the nAa kernel. Cheers!
Try naa kernel it has the most features of all kernel currently for x8.

Hi there. For first sorry for my english, 'cause it sucks.. I have installed GingedDX on my Xperia x8 and I have a question about kernel. Do I can install custom kernel? Or do I need it? If yes, what is the best kernel in your opinion? Thanks for reply.
GingerDX supports 3 kernels: SE stock, LinuxDX and Alfs for GingerDX. 1st and 2nd won't allow You to OC Your CPU. Only Alfs has this feature. On the other hand - if You're not OC fan, than You should try LinuxDX, cause it was created by doixanh [He creates GingerDX as well].
But all of Your doubts may go away if U won't be able to unlock Your bootloader. If this happen - You will be able to use only stock SE kernel
Ok, my phone can have custom kernel. But is it worth it? I think that Alfs for GingerDX + GingerDX should work great. I want OC a bit my phone's processor, because my phone lags very often.. Should it work better than now?
I tried a combination of stock kernel + GingerDX and Alfs + GingerDx. For me the 2nd one gave a boost to my x8, so in Your case it would be probably the same
Stock kernel + GingerDX and Alfs + GingerDx? You mean 2 kernels? And sorry I can't understand this: For me the 2nd one gave a boost to my x8.
My english is weak, sorry Did you mean "jeden z dwóch"?
I tried both combinations - GingerDx + stock kernel, then I flashed ALFS and was using it with GingerDX
Polish: Próbowałem obu kombinacji - GingerDx + stock oraz ALFS + GingerDX. Jak dla mnie drugie połączenie przyspiesza działanie telefonu
Ah, okay, now I understand Okay, thanks then. I will try
@EDIT
My phone is dead now :/ I have unlocked bootloader, I've got message that everything is done. Reboot and phone doesn't work.. Crap :/
dude.. English doesnt Suck.. probably your grammer might . And there are custom kernels like Alfs and nAa, which you can install at your own risk.. Search the forums for further info...

You can't overlock your CPU on stock? So how am I doing it then?
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using xda premium
On ALFS kernel this feature is built-in. On LinuxDX or stock U have to use modules or other stuff.
linuxDx neither with modules..only stock kernel with modules and alfs with built in, you can overclock..flash alfs if you like or dislike oc..if you don't like you don't need to use the oc..so, the best kernel for gingerDx is ALFS KERNEL
sorry my bad english
stock kernel can oc too, use module.
Hello all XDA members,
I have very specyfic problem. When I flash some custom kernels, especially Alfs for GingerDX v08a + GingerDX v25, nAa-11/-13 + MiniCM7 or other GB ROMs (read twice, Gingerbread only / naa-ics works fine with nAa's CM9) my phone is rebooting at kernel bootlogo. I tried to restore to stock Eclair, relocking bootloader but problem is still the same.
Update
Now I can't install custom ROMs also in stock SE kernel. What the hell is going on?! Begin was a few days ago, when I couldn't run phone with nAa's kernel and ROM. Then, after a day, there was a same problem with GingerDX on Alfs v9. Next - GDX on Alfs v8a > MiniCM9 on nAa-ics > All ROMs with custom kernels > Now = all custom ROMs, working only Android 1.6 and 2.1.
Have you full wiped ?

wweewww...strange
had u follow the instruction step by step??
backup all your data n apps first, then
try to downgrade it first by flashing the X8 E15i 2.1.1.C.0.0._un.ftf
root
unlock BL
Flash the latest kernel
backup
factory reset, wipe batt, etc (important)
Flash ROM
Done!
flash nAa for miniCM - alfs for GDX
Yes, I do. Full Wipes, Flashing stock kernel & ROM etc.. Now I tried HACKDROID Floyo v0.3 + Alfs v7 + Fix for Alfs = also doesn't work.
Now it happens on any custom kernel, also nAa-ICS. I don't want to stay at stock. Maybe option "Exclude kernel" in Flashtool will help? I don't know what is it and I don't want to brick my X8.
Edit - I've updated title and 1st post because of new problems.

BASEBAND is the problem, after upgrade to stock you will have 06 and you need 15 - took me last 2 days to figure it out again Otherwise you will have just kernel bootloop
I've updated my baseband, and it works!!!
Thank you XDA communicate - You are awesome!
