Does wifi tethering incure extra charge - T-Mobile? - Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G

Hi just wondering if the wifi tethering from the custom ROMs here will incur extra charges from T-Mobile. I have the $30 unlimited web prepaid plan. I just tested and was able to do wifi tethering but I'm not sure if T-Mobile will charge extra (hope not.) There seems to be conflicting info on this. Thanks.

Just data usage and that will drop to 2g

n00b cyanogen question

this is probably gonna be a super n00b question but i have to ask anyways, i've heard from friends that they do not pay for data usage with their jailbroken iphones, i've also heard that having an unlocked gsm phone prevents roaming charges, if i have installed cyanogen on my dream/g1 will i get charged for my data usage and roaming charges? sorry for such a silly question but inquiring minds need to know, any help is appreciated!

you will certainly get charged roaming if out of your carrier's coverage zone. you will certainly get charged for data usage as per your plan policy/rates.
in the states, tmobile offers only unlimited data plans (to my knowledge).

[Q] Tethering charge?

Im on the Tesco mobile network and wanted to know if tesco charge extra for tethering? Im on the 1gb internet with 500mins and unlimited texts plan.
Out of curiousity how do they know when you tether your phone or not to your laptop wirelessly using the stock tether thing from gingerbread?
Home Internet drops occasionally and I cant be without internet during the exam period
No they won't. UK carriers don't charge extra because the tethering use up your existing data plan.

Well i would ask the network as some networks specifically ban tethering .
Charges would apply if you go over your data plans allowance .
I would guess that networks only check for tethering on those users that show a large amount of data .

I am on Vodafone pay monthly with 500MB internet plan. I have used tethering before, and I didn't receive any warning from Vodafone. That said, the tethering sucked up half a month's worth of data usage in just a few hours. It's really not worth it.

[Q] Will my bill go up switching to Note?

I'm presently on a 3g (Blackberry) phone with an AT&T unlimited data plan and presently my bill breaks down as folows:
450 min - $40
1500 Txt msgs - $15
Unlimited data - $30
Total - ~$85
Question: Essentially keeping all my fetures unchanged, will my bill go up if I switch to this unlocked GT-N7000 Note?
Thanks
If it relates to the AT&T note, you are in the wrong forum. It has its own forum.
how will your bill go up if you stay on an unlimited data plan?
in my Country there is no unlimited data plan yet. But, blackberry services in more expensive compared to Normal data plan.

Figuring that they charge for everything, I just wanted to make sure that AT&T doesn't charge more for HSPA+ over 3G
Nope... You are all set. Just make sure they DO NOT change your data plan to a tiered one if you go in and talk to them (I just did it without telling ATT anything).
There is a good post on how to set it up on XDA for use on AT&T with the APN and such if you buy one!
You guys sure pay a lot for your plans in the states. I thought that the UK was bad. I currently pay £32 for 1100 mins, unlimited texts, and 500MB data. Plus the phone was free on the contract. These prices are much higher than they were a few years ago, too.

HTC One Dev edition tethering on AT&T?

As title indicated, can owners of this phone confirm that the dev edition can let you use WiFi tether/hotspot on unlimited data plan without being asked for downgrading to a tethering plan?

I'm using it on my standard plan and haven't received any warning yet. However, I limit my tether time, it's typically for quick stuff with my ipad when I've traveling or away from wifi.

Can you clarify your data plan? In most capped data plans (3GB or over or shared data plan), tethering is included. But on unlimit data plan, tethering is not allowed. That's how it works in AT&T branded phones. However, a truely unbranded phone should allow tethering without ant AT&T restrictions but you never know.

I'm on an unlimited plan.

Mod to unthrottle the throttle?

Would this be possible?
Perhaps a bit more clarity in what you are having an issue with? What throttle is it that you are having applied to your..... service??
Not having an issue, was just wondering if we can hide data usage from Tmobile so that our "unlimited" plan is ACTUALLY unlimited and not throttled when we reach a certain point of data usage (I know they have a 30$ data plan for true unlimited data).
Nope, nothing you can do at all in that case. Even with say, a VPN, data still moves as data (even if they cant see the contents of the packets), and will be counted as such.
I didnt think TMObile did any throttling.
The most I have done on one month was 400GB+ while tethered with the hotspot hack on my Note 4 to my XBox One and PC and Laptop all full speed all month.

I am pretty sure he is talking about hiding the usage of tethering... You CAN do that with wifi tether Router and it is a working solution for now, but T-Mobile fights it pretty hard.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNJrzgRp4wM This method works 100% 4 me!
Native tethering is wayyyyy better. It toggles a lot faster and shares the full speed connection. The mod is on the forums.
Op is trying to get unlimited 4G data while only paying for 3/5gb etc. If you really need that much the $30 plan is pretty reasonable and you'll be at ~2MB/sec well over 100GB per month.

That's also what I'm talking about. Both the Note 4 and LG G3 have customs Roms where when you enable tethering (stock) tethering, the data counts twords your original unlimited data not twords your hotspot data thus allowing me to do 400GB+ that month.
I think what the OP is trying to ask is how to use his 5GB plan, at full speed, past the 5GB plan. You have unlimited data, but only 5GB at full LTE speed, after that you still have data it is just throttled to 2g speeds. No way around that. You need to upgrade to the $80 plan if you want true, unlimited speed past 5GB.
Best way is to pay for unlimited
Just pay the extra money and don't try to cheat or steal. T-Mobile is pretty reasonable all around.
