Unable to install .434 update on my Xperia Z

Guys, has anyone faced following problem-
The Sony pc companion recognizes my phone just fine and even tells me that I have new build to install. I was able to download but it get stuck on step 2 where on screen it asks me to put phone in a download mode by shutting it off, plugging in sub while holding volume down button.
I have followed all these steps properly and even confirmed with tech support but the pc companion just stays there and no install is initiated.
I have been researching in the forums but no luck so far.
Details-
Xperia Z C6602
Current build - 10.1.A.1.350
Update build from pc companion - 10.1.A.1.434.

Disable Anti-Virus
**Disable Firewall**
Restart PC
>> and try with Update Service Tool
I tried the same steps on another laptop I have after disabling the anti virus no luck. I tried with update service tool as well, same result.
Steps done-
1. Launch pc companion/update service
2. Allow above apps to download the .434 as steps on their wizard.
3. App takes me to step two.
4. Disconnect usb cable from phone and pc.
5. Shutodown phone, wait 30+ secs
6. Plug in the usb into laptop
7. Plug in usb into phone and press volume down while doing it.
8. I notice the indicator blinks red and green but then nothing.
Also, I can't get OTA upgrade as the new build doesn't get listed on my phone's update center
This is my brand new Xperia Z.
Are there any other flash tools I can use? If yes, where can I download the ..434 stock ROM

if this doesnt work you could try downloading Flashtool and flashing a ftf, for flashmode you gotta turn off your device (by pressing power+vol up), and then when disconnecteed and turned off press vol up, and hold then connect device to pc!

No.
Just turn of in the normal way, no need to do the power button and volume up.
Also to enter flashmode, it's the volume DOWN button whilst attaching the usb cable

[Q] Update Xperia Z to 10.1.1.A.1.253 - HELP ?

I am a total newbie to android (Xperia Z being my first android phone). I can see that there is an update avaiable New firmware (10.1.1.A.1.253) for XperiaZ in PC companion. But I am struggling to get past the "Checking your Phone/tablet" stage on the PC companion app.
It says that:
1. Turn off the phone. Take out the USB cable from computer and phone.
2. Wait for 5 minutes
3. Plugin the USB cable in the computer.
4. Press and hold down the Volume Down button while plugging the USB connector in the phone.
I tried it 6-7 times but after Stage 4 nothing happens and after 5 minutes approx I get to back to same instructions. Do I need to do something with the PC companion on my machine?
I am using PC companion on Windows vista. I am stuck and frustated thinking of my Old Apple days :crying:
at the step 4. what did you do? you have to remember, your phone must be switched off and UNPLUGGED from PC... and then plug in, plus nearly simultaniously press Volume down button (long press, until it says release the button).
I didn't know the part where you have press the button continously untill PC companion tell you to release the button. Thanks I will try that today.
hmm u dont need to turn it off its turning it self off just always click next thats what i did
You need to hold the vol-down button and then plug in the usb cable.

[Q] Downgrading to .310 Sony ZR

Hi!
Is there a kind soul around that can provide a safe guide for the first step in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427995
It mentions the downgrading to .310 and Doom's toolkit but I could use more specific instructions for those parts. Also which version of Doom's toolkit should be used? Rest of the steps shouldn't be a problem.
Regards
/Regis
I did that last week to save my TA keys so here is what I remember :
You have to download FlashTool and the old ROM :
http://flashtool.net
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2384512 under Android 4.1.2 (C5503 = LTE, C5502 = 3G model)
WARNING : This will wipe all data on the phone !!
Next in Flashtool you use the little thunder icon, choose flash mode and direct it to the download folder of the ROM. Phone turned off, press volume- and while pressing it, plug in the USB. The computer will start flashing and you can release volume-. After a while it will say it's all done and you can unplug the phone. Do it and power up. It can take several minutes to boot.
Next you can use DoomLord's exploit to gain root. When you have root you can back up your TA keys and then you can use Flashtool again to revert to 4.2. Next follow instructions in the thread you linked to unlock bootloader, flash su and install SuperSu
If you want to keep your data, just make a backup with pc companion and restore it after you are done.

Ok! You mean after the whole process as described in the link i posted earlier? Does that interfere with the TA backup software in anyway?
Also, note that this is not a mandatory step. It's only if you want to back up your TA keys (it permits to restore the bootloader to factory defaults if you have to put your phone in warranty)

And the flashing is to be done with the phone turned off and disconected from the PC to begin with? Which DoomLord exploit version did you use?
I forgot to mention my specs earlier which is Sony Xperia ZR c5503 JB 4.2.2 FW 10.31.A.0.244 and Kernel-version 3.4.0-g3865184

Yes to flash another firmware with flashtool you have to smart with phone turned off. Then you press volume- while plugging USB.
I used last Doomlord exploit, v17 I think

Please help to unbrick my xperia z

I am in an awkward situation.
xperia z, 4.2.2 244 rooted stock rom, bootloader locked, usb debug mode off, recovery not installed.
I accidentally corrupted build.prop and the phone bricked.
I cannot use flashtool to flash the stock rom back because usb debug mode is off.
I cannot use Sony update service Pro to force update because it said that "your phone already has the latest available software installed".
I cannot use PC Companion to repair because the software said that "Sony update engine doesn't have software available for your phone".
Please help.

Just follow the flashtool instruction and re-flash the stock rom first, everything will return to unroot stated. Reroot then and try again.

The above didn't work for me because I received error based on my type of phone.
This guide however did help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614
I had to reboot windows to a settings to enable unsigned drivers. Installed Flashtool and it's drivers,
First unlocked the bootloader(BLU button, got the IMEI, used the sony form (http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions))
Then I downloaded the stock sony xperia z ftf image, placed it in Flashtool's firmware folder, then flashed it (flash device > flash mode).
Now my phone's working again.

If you still can enter custom recovery, you only need flash rom and (with) suitable kernel.
If not, you need Flashtool.
- make sure you have the newest version of flashtool and driver
- connect your phone to pc.
- when computer show error about usb not recognized, go to computer management - device manager. Find something in universal serial bus controller list that have yellow triangle and exclamation mark. right click and remove it
- disconnect your phone then reboot your pc
- install flashtool and driver, reboot pc again
- connect your phone to pc. Now, it should detect your phone.
- do flashing procedure
