1. System settings>Developer Options>Turn it on, then check USB debugging.
2. Downlaod kernel, unpack till you get kernel.bin.md5
3. Install this on PC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119676
4. Use that app to flash kernel, just open it and follow the guide from app.

Don't worry about that. Just follow the steps i tell you and that is.

I think you have instaled kernel. Pushed kernel succesfuly means kernel is instaled. Go to About phone, and see is it CoCore kernel.

I was having trouble rooting the device. I was trying to root it with the old root.zip file, the Shaaan's method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087424
After continuous unsuccessful attempts I thought I should have a look at the forum - noticed the script has been updated. My bad. :/
I was trying to install the kernel without rooting the device. so, that was it.

Yes I can, I tried to downgrade to GB but it failed as well :/
I don't really clearly understood your issue.
But if you want to flash a Stock ICS Rom, start ODIN PC, start your SGNote in download mode (button volume down + home + power), then connect your SGNote to your PC and flash via ODIN PC.
If you don't know exactly how to use ODIN PC, check tutos on the forum.

When you say "it failed" you are going to have to be more specific. Please give us an error message. Did you get a NAND write start and factoryfs.img and it just freeze after that in Odin?

Reinstall your ADB/USB drivers, make sure you're using USB2.0 port - for me USB3.0 always results in failed flash, ultimately switch USB ports.

The file you download from dr. Ketan is a .rar file, unzip it once and you get a .tar file. Flash that file with Odin in pda section. So don`t unzip the .tar file again.

The problem was the ROM itself

To start with - you need root to flash this custom ROM, so unrooting your device was a mistake, you have to root it again.
Now, i've never flashed Criskelo's ROM, but from what i've read in the thread, you need to root your device, flash Chainfire's ICS repack via mobile odin, and then flash criskelo rom via CWM. Do not unpack the .zip file, you need to point CWM to that file.

My Situation:

You can boot in system? If yes, download CoCore 6.8, unpack it and flash kernel.bin.md5 with Universal kernel flash tool. Before that copy some ROM to your external SD card, and after flashing CoCore boot to recovery and install that ROM.
You do not have stock recovery because you have custom one - from CM.

Just do what I said, use CoCore 6.8. And you need to unpack it, UKF can't flash zip. You need to unpack it and use kernel.bin.md5. If you can't copy file from PC, use some ZIP extractor on your phone - there are some on Play store, just search ZIP.

What is written in your About phone? Maybe you can ask Frapeti to add suppert, or to tell you what to change in build.prop to make your phone usable with UKF. CM changed it, and maybe UKF not recognising phone because of that. But build.prop must have permissions 644, otherwise it will get you a bootloop... When you edit it, you might change permission with save.

Phone not booting after flashing Rom!

I installed cocore 6.8 cwm on my friend's phone and he flashed a custom Rom and now it isn't booting. He didn't take a Nandroid backup. He says that when tried to flash the experia Rom which worked previously it is getting stuck forever. The same happened when he tried to wipe system data in advanced settings. What should I do now?

First thing that come to my mind is that you instaled GB ROM, and your friend have JB kernel (CoCore 6.8). Post link of ROM you instaled, to see if it was GB or JB ROM.
Second, do factory reset.
If you can go to recovery do this:
Connect phone to PC, mount SD card in CWM (or you use TWRP recovery, mount it there). Push some JB ROM in it, and install it.
I think flashing firmware with Odin is easier, beacuse for pushing zip from recovery you need adb shell, and knowledge of command to push it there. But you can put his SD card in your phone, and use it to transfer ROM too. Just tell him to use JB ROM, not GB.
And if that do not help, I suggest you use Odin method,. Download Firmware, flash it and then you can root it again and use CoCore and some custom ROM.
http://samsung-updates.com/ and http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ are trusted sites for Samsung firmwares.

you could use the device initialization feature inside the smart switch pc software to install official stock rom to your device. all you have to do is put the samsung device to donwload mode or more commonly known as odin mode. and connect device to the pc. go to device initialization on smart switch pc. then type in your device model number and serial number then the software will prompt to install usb drivers if not already installed then the software will automatically download official stock rom and flash it to your device. search you tube on more info on how to use it.
note: i couldn't find device initialization on latest version of smart switch software. you probably use the 4.1.17054.16 version.

should i install it both?
so this are the steps :
1. Download rootkernel.tar.md5 and GT-I9070-Kernel-CoCore.tar.md5.
2. Run program Odin3 v1.87.exe.
3. Then open Settings in your phone, go to Applications -> Development and check USB Debugging and Allow mock locations. Both needs to be Checked (Selected).
4. Turn off phone and turn it back on into Download mode, like this press Volume Down + Home button + Power button, wait until some "strange" screen appears, put in usb cable and choose continue.
5. Now wait until Odin recognize your phone.
6. Under PIT file browse for GT-I9070_EUR_XX_8G.pit.
7. Under PDA choose rootkernel.tar.md5.
8. Then check what options are checked (Selected), be sure to UNCHECK (remove selection) Re-Partition, Flash Lock, Phone EFS Clear, Phone Bootloader Update! Only Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time should be checked (Selected).
9. When this is set just press Start and wait for phone to reboot.
10. Now repeat steps from 4 to 9, with one exception at step 7 now choose GT-I9070-Kernel-CoCore.tar.md5.

Do you have root now? I wrote on two threads about that, can't remember if it was you on other user that told he has root now.
In short you need to do this:
Install Root kernel in Odin, reboot to system.
Go to Download mode again and install CoCore kernel.
Install SuperSU from play store and open it. Done.

What kernel is written in About phone (in settings)? Install CoCore , that root kernel has some bug, so you better use CoCore for GB (from that link).

You did not install CoCore, that is the ROOT kernel. Now install CoCore with Odin. Link is in that thread I posted you.

You can use that guide. And you can use other firmware. Just do not use one from HONKONG, you can't go to any other after installing it (as some users said).

can i use the latest odin3v1.8?
how about the kernel?what kernel should i install if i am going to root 4.1.2?
I am not sure which Odin I have used and I am on my cell now. I would recomend cocore again, just new version for JB. See my sig for link. Root on JB is much easier than GB. Just look for root JB thread by shaan. It is as simple as flashing root.zip in recovery mode (volup+home+power)

We have much easier rooting method for JB. Just install root zip from recovery. No need to use Odin for root. It is all explained in that guide. You can use that Odin.
