Mic issue on calls and NFC interference issues - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone - first post and it's a problem!
Got my One yesterday, however when I call people apparently the start or end of any sentence is getting cut off - just the last little bit.
Has everyone else experienced this? My only guess is that it is the background noise suppressor not working as it should.
Also, if I have NFC on, the FM radio has rhythmic loud interference and there is quiet interference heard when listening to music.
Thoughts?
Thanks guys,
Chris

I haven't had any reported issues from people I talk to with getting cut off.
However I have noticed the interference on the FM radio. But as I walk around the house it goes away in some places. So while the NFC may well be affecting it, it also seems to be related to how strong the signal is as well.
I can't hear any interference when listening to music and I have sensitive ears. Is this with the bundled earphones or others?

I've found the radio to be pretty poor but i was unsure if that was me sticking the wires behind my high vis vest. Wouldn't pick up Radio 1 or Rock FM.
not noticed anything with regards to the NFC though because i've not turned it on.

Okay...I can hear it with one pair of very sensitive earphones.
But the main issue is the radio. If NFC is switched on, there is a terrible interference on the radio. This can only be heard when the screen is on also because if the screen goes off, so does NFC.

a2dp stutters when I move the diamond

ok, so I just noticed something really annoying. I just came back from my daily running and it was the first time I used the diamond with my stereo bluetooth philips headset for this instead of the ipod.
as soon as I started running and the diamond jumped up and down in my pocket the music started stuttering like crazy. like the old days when I had a cd player without shock memory
first I thought this had something to do with sensor lock running, but I uninstalled it and the problem is still there. I now tried to reproduce the stuttering when at home and it seems to be connected to the distance. when I hold the phone close to the bluetooth headset and start shaking the phone like crazy nothing happens. as soon as I move it down to my pockets it begins stuttering when I rapidly move the phone around.
I tried searching the forums but couldnt really find anything stutter related when it comes to motion. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the motion sensor or with my headphones weak bluetooth receiver...
any suggestions are welcome here, I'm a bit baffled by this whole thing.
greets,

Stuttering?
Sounds more likely to be your headphones. I use Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones and have no issue with the sound jumping, skipping or anything... unless I leave my Diamond in the house and walk down the garden! I'm not sure whether all Diamonds have the same bluetooth hardware. If some incarnations have different hardware, this might be the issue.
Can you 'borrow' a mates' headphones to see if you get the same result?
Perhaps one of the techno wizards here can let us know if there are any differences in the bluetooth hardware between various Diamond devices?
thanks for your answer. I'll try to find someone with another bluetooth headset.
I hope it's not hardware related. can you tell me what radio version and rom you got running? maybe there's a difference here.
sounds like its a problem with the bluetooth range, if you shake the phone when its near the headset it doesnt make trouble but when its more far away you get problems, so i would think it get out of transmission range.
no problem here with bluetooth on shaking
greets
what bluetooth headset do you have? the weird thing is, if I lay the phone flat on a table I can walk about 10 meters before I get any stuttering. why would shaking the phone reduce that range to about 1 meter?! that doesnt make any sense..
Lay your phone on the table walk around and shake yourself/headset and u will see it comes from ur headset.
Mine is plantronics dunno the specs can look tomorow as there is nothing on the headset.
greets
EDIT: if not i think the bloodtooth has a loose connection ?! But that shouldnt be on that onebrick device

"Tin can" issue

I'm not sure if anyone else has had this, but this is the first phone i've come across with this issue...
Whenever I'm gaming or something and my phone rings, I instantly pick up and balance it between my ear and my shoulder when i talk (you know, like old school phones when multitasking)...
But whenever i do this people say i sound like I'm talking in a tin can...
Is the second Mic (to drown out background noise) to blame?
make sure that mic isnt blocked. if you put it on your shoulder it will happen
No matter how I hold the phone people complain about this.
People have actually asked me what kind of ****ty phone/reception I have because the audio quality is so bad.
it may be a bad mic. have you always had this? maybe you should call gtc because all the major phone reviewers noted the nexus had one of the best quality calls of any phone. it should not sound that bad
Mine sound great at least. I know this since both me and my brother has a N1. Really good sound quality from my experience.
I've read this same issue before on the Google Android forum. Apparently it has something to do with the secondary mic and how the shoulder conducts sound thereby activating the noise cancellation of your own voice.
I also talk this way and don't have this issue atleast no one complaint.
I am waiting for my warranty replacement due to come in today.
Will report if that fixes it.
Have you guys tried using like a bluetooth headset or wired set to see if it's really the mic issue?

[Q] Earpiece low hiss/crackle

Is anyone here hearing a low hiss/crackle type noise when on phone calls. Almost like the speaker is a little blown out?
This is not noticeable when listening to music etc; only on phone calls.
I'm not sure how common this is or if I should get it swapped out. Though swapping it probably carries the risk of acquiring the other pop/crackle speaker issue
Thanks for any input.

I heard them also.. But seems very commond and seems that 4.2.2 solve all these audio issue ( havent tried myself but read on topics)
I am also having the same issue. I am having this problem on some sim cards(2G). As one of my sim card doesn't cause this problem which is a 3G sim. Though it should not have any problem due to sim cards or network, this problem surely doesn't occur in my 3G sim. Wierd problem!
Me too

I hear a crackle type noise (occasionally) when I'm on calls. It's not continuous. Occurs randomly. It only lasts for a fraction of a second though. is this what you're talking about??

I believe there are different things experienced by different guys. I've read many topics about various sounds.
There is a sound like a speaker does when you listen to music and it stops. It happens after you listen to something (like Beat gets turned off). Like a hissing maybe? I can't descibe it better. It's like the speaker is on high volume and then stops. It lasts for a brief moment and you can hear it if you are near the phone and there is relative silence.
There are also some "pop" sounds sometimes. These sounds sometimes happen when you listen to music.
And there is something else, in my case when talking on the phone there is something like a crackle sometimes when the other person is speaking. It doesn't happen all the time. At first I thought it was because of bad signal but I don't think it's true.

[Q] strange electric buzzing Noice from top speaker

Hello,
This might be a double post, but nevertheless I have noticed a strange buzzing noice from the top speaker. It seems to occur when i switch wifi off and then on. At that moment when it is receiving and sending data. It seems that the speaker comes on and creates it. If i have to discribe it i would say it sounds like electrical currence or a something shortcutting. Anyone else with this problem? I mailed my provider today and i am looking to send my device back soon.
Also, offtopic, i noticed that the screen isnt positioned properly, on the left side it sticks out...
For me two reasons to look for a replacement nexus 6.
Regards,
Elroy
I'm on my second phone and I'm noticing this too. Its fairly quiet, but in a quiet room it becomes very noticeable. It seems worse for me when the CPU is really going. Also, if I turn off and on the screen it gets louder. I actually noticed this issue with my first phone too, but I returned that due to a camera issue. It might just be interference from the CPU getting into the speaker. Not sure if returning it will help. Sucks this phone costs so much but we gotta deal with issues like this.
We have so many this speaker related issue. plz search.
Don't waste your time replacing the phone because all has it. It's more likely either SW can fix or just a pure dumb HW design by Motorola.

P20 Pro Speaker volume during phonecalls to quiet / Speaker next to front cam broken?

Hey,
My phone got really quiet during phonecalls 2 weeks ago. I have the slight feeling that I got a software update in that timeframe, but since I can't pinpoint either, that might be coincidence (unless others have the same problem). I also noticed that before while watching videos, you would get the feeling that the sound came from the middle of your phone (and had proper stereo), while now I notice pretty obviously that the sound comes out of the speakers near the USB-C connector..
I've also confirmed that everything is fine when I have a call on Bluetooth Headsets or on Loudspeaker, so it seems that only the speaker next to the front facing camera is affected.
Anybody else with similar issues? Makes phonecalls without bluetooth close to impossible in any crowded area.
Thanks, Olli

Check your audio settings anyway. Leave it on music, seems to help and check if mono is turned on in accessibility.
If like me you blocked up your earpiece grill, then get a toothbrush and get it clean, no water just (light) stabbing motions and circular whilst pushing against it .
For me it was what worked.
The main speaker (bottom) I would avoid pushing anything in there at all, but compressed air would work as it should.
