How can I get the Nook Stock Browser - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I'm now running Jellybean on my Nook HD 7". But I really miss the "article view" feature that came on the stock browser. Is there any other browser that has that, or can I somehow install the stock browser on jellybean? Thanks

You have to setup adb on your computer and 'push' google apps onto your nook, nookdevs.com has a detailed howto.. and the only way i have gotten flash to work is to download adobe flash from market THEN dolphin hd browser... you might also get the google apps aka gapps to install by flashing them with cwr, but im not 100% on that. Hope this helps.. its how i got those things to work on my nookie froyo 0.6.8
Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 (zoom2)/Tapatalk Pro
Thanx. I was afraid i would have to use that method. Will give it a try when i get time.

Dolphin HD compatibility with latest 1.4.2 manualnooter

Hi,
I was going to follow up a post in the Manualnooter thread but I can't post there.
So I cannot install Dolphin Browser HD to save my life. In the playstore on the nook, it's not visible. In playstore on my pc, it says it's not compatible. I tried sideloading it, going into root explorer but i get "problem parsing". Does anyone have any ideas what else I can do?
Also, I hate mobile/mini versions of browsers. Are there any alternatives for full browsers?
Thanks in advance.

Opera Browser is my preferred browser. I can share my settings with those at home and work on my pc's and laptops... though there are other features of Opera that surpass those in Dolphin and Firefox.
As to Dolphin, it should work on Manualnooter. On mine, I purchased the B&N Dolphin app. Works well though I rarely use it.
As for PlayStore view, you are correct, I don't see Dolphin HD but I do see Dolphin Browser Mini and other Dolphin addons and themes for HD. Interesting.
Try Opera Mobile or get HD thru the B&N app. Either way, they turn your NC into a great tablet.

Yes there is, just DL from websites offering APK Downloads. Once DL'd, put into uSD, open it from there and Viola, you're using Dolphin Browser HD.
Note:
Dolphin Browsrer HD works on CM 7.2 for Nook Color, so it should work nonetheless for Rooted Stock Nook.

Dolphin Browser HD is a B&N app and will work on rooted stock by default.

This is directly from B&N 1.4.2 build.prop:
ro.build.version.release=2.2.1
2.2.1 is Froyo
2.3.x is Gingerbread
Additionally.... B&N stock 1.4.3 is also 2.2.1
This is why users must use Dalagrin's froyo kernels if they want over-clocking...
WARNING CM7 (Gingerbread) and CM9 (Icecream Sandwich) kernels WILL NOT work with any B&N stock AOSP at this time.

Ok. I guess just because version number is the same as nook tablet, they are not the same version of android. It has been a very long time since I had stock on my color. Thanks for clearing that up.
No problem at all.. just didn't want anyone doing anything that's not good

Do yourself two favors:
1. Upgrade to one of the stable jelly bean ROMs
2. Run Google Chrome for your browser for speed and synching between all of your devices and PCs.
You will thank yourself.

AOKP JB 4.1.1
SmartassV2/sio

Also please post in the correct sub-forum when asking questions. Thread moved.
I've just seen your other thread in here which I've deleted. Please don't duplicate threads.
Thanks

Did have an ics Rom did not like the fact it had the back home menu keys on screen at the bottom also hated they keyboard layout and Im not so keen on Google chrome
Hi,
the back/home/multitask bar is easily removable.
If you don't like the ASOP keboard, you can still use the Swype or other keyboards from the Play store.
If you don't like Google chrome, there are a few other options. The default on CM10 is not bad, Firefox, Opera, etc etc.
Porting the new browsers from the S2/S3/Note from ICS to GB will be difficult.
I hope it helps.

[Q] chrome on root stock hd or hd+

I thought the version of android on the nook hd and hd+ was 4.0 or higher, but I downloaded chrome for ics and couldn't get it to work. Is it possible to have chrome on the stock root hd+ and if so, where can I download it? thank you.

Several have reported it does not work for them, even though the HD is ics. Other Google apps fail some way or another. Google Voice crashes, and Gmail will not sync.
Sent from my HD+ running CM10 on SD with XDA Premium
I got Chrome to work on my HD+. I didn't do anything special but download and install. I must say it has some things which keep it from being my favorite which currently is Dolphin. Many of the websites on my favorites list use "Flash" to display content and Android Chrome does not support Flash.

Yeah, strange, I sideloaded the version I got from my Galaxy Nexus and it works fine on my HD+. Think it even updated once: ver 18.0.1025469

Can the AOSP Browser be put on a stock, rooted Bionic running 4.1.2? If so, I'd appreciate some info on this.
Thanks!
