here is my preferred set of apps for the rooted phone
1. Avast Security: Firewall to block certain apps from accessing the internet! And general protection.
2. NoBloat Free: Used in removing the above mentioned apps. Helps to safely backup the apk file and delete it so that we can restore them back later if the need arises.
3. ROM Toolbox Lite: Could be used for many a purpose. But at present I use it to block the ads and prevent autorun services.
4. GSam Battery Monitor: Monitoring battery stats.
5. DS Battery Saver: - My phone never went into deep sleep. With this app it forced the CPU to enter deep sleep whenever screen goes off.
6. LagFix Free: Just like defragmentation in Windows system. Increases read speed of SD card
7. Clean Master: Great task killer, cache cleaner and history wiper. I use it to kill apps on screen off.
8. One Power Guard: Underclock my CPU to certain range. AI mode automatically switches profile. Helps in quicker charging of the battery and also in safe cleaning battery draining background apps.

Uninstall Master remove all for me ... T Y Guys
If you really want to disable all that i think you are gonna miss some things.. !
Don't uninstall com.lge.internal or your widgets break and everything goes retarded.
uninstalling one or more of these has severe negative side effects. freezing does nothing negative to your comp, but uninstalling totaly borked my phone, wouldn't even boot up.

dude read the post it say my list f Freeze app no the list to uninstall
If i may add some other apps to this list.
You can also use "SetCPU" (if you don't use "ROM Toolbox" it underclocks the CPU (to what you set it to) to save battery power

Use "Root Firewall" instead, anti-virus apps prove very little need on android, so why use a very resource hogging anti-virus app to manage your firewall.
2. NoBloat Free: Used in removing the above mentioned apps. Helps to safely backup the apk file and delete it so that we can restore them back later if the need arises.
Use "Root Uninstaller instead. In my opinion better looks and more options in one app
3. ROM Toolbox Lite: Could be used for many a purpose. But at present I use it to block the ads and prevent autorun services.
4. GSam Battery Monitor: Monitoring battery stats.
If you just wan't to monitor wakelocks, you can use "Wakelock Detector" instead too.
5. DS Battery Saver: - My phone never went into deep sleep. With this app it forced the CPU to enter deep sleep whenever screen goes off.
Very good and handy app

Thanks for the list. Here's a tiny glitch I've noticed while deleting these apps (yes, I deleted them). My phone (LG Optimus L4 II E440) worked perfectly, booted with no problems whatsoever, all of the functions were normal except that my home button led was constantly on. I've tried re-flashing it and then removed the apps, but unfortunately with the same consequences. When I restored "LGSystemServer" the glitch somehow disappeared: I have no idea whether it was somehow related to the removal of the abovementioned app, just thought it would be interesting to mention. Thanks.

Hello,
I have several apps that I use randomly or only want them to connect when I decide to. One of them is Viber that prevents wifi going to sleep mode.
I tried several apps but no one worked.
Viber app + service always start on boot and I have to exit manually to stay offline
I use a combination of LBE, Juice Defender and Titanium Backup to control apps and preserve battery life. TB is very good since it lets you control services. All these apps are on the Market. Hope this helps.

Autostart is great but becarefull use it with rom apps.
So I started using some apps like foursquare/instagram and I wanted to know If even i close them they keep using internet on the background. Since I close them (with data connectivity off) and when i enable data connectivity(long press on power button) it shows immediately some notifications of foursquare.
The main point of this question is that i want to keep data connectivity always on, cause it seems turning on and off wastes some battery, but i don't want apps leaching internet on the background.
Thanks!

1) data use - you could try a data manager app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobidia.android.mdm which will show you how much data they are using. You might find these apps are using not much of your allowance anyway.
2) task manager (e.g. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.taskmanager ) can stop apps running in background but most people in the know seem to advise against using things like this.
3) you could try freezing the apps with something like titanium backup and unfreeze them when you want to use them.
4) apps like foursquare or instagram don't really fall into the urgent category. Uninstall them if you don't like what they do. Everything will be fine as you will manage without them

What is OS Services?
Alternatives on rooted phones are firewalls which edit ip tables, such as droidwall.
Even if each app uses a marginal amount of data, when you have lots of apps it can become a huge expense. Most play store apps request internet access, even games and multimedia apps that don't really need it (it can add up to 5-10 mb a day just by having them installed).

No. It edits a file, ip tables, which is the native linux firewall, included in the ace.
It edits it when you enable, disable or change the firewall settings, like creating a text file, and runs on boot. The phone checks this file whenever an app asks for internet, and grants/denies the permission accordingly. Even if you don't have droidwall, the phone checks ip tables rules, droidwall is just a user friendly way to edit and control it.

And I did flashed and rooted, but didn't Restore to Factory, also i did upgrade SuperSU and istalled the CWM and then Deleted Dalvik and Paritition cache files
What i wanted to ask, is that after all this should i make a factory reset? if not should i UnInstall only the LG programs and then freeze all the other apps?
Am asking this because it seems alot for me having 70-80% on the Android System usage for the battery
Edit: IDK, for example i consume alot of Battery just for using facebook and the music player, but it's not fair that in my ipod i don't use more than 5% and on the 4x i used 20%
or consuming(airplanemode) even if im not uisng it
Hopefully one day our Mods on here will just take all these threads and roll them into one.

Sorry, but i can't resolve it on my own, and i can't figure it out why i have this problem while other people already fixed it.
Edit: I did a fabric restore and then downloaded GSAM Battery Monitor and it shoed that Android System is using 99% of my battery
In the Easy Battery Saver it says that the Adroid System uses 80% of my charge... And i don't have any apps installed
And in my Battery Settings the Android System is always on 66%-75%, Should i install a custom ROM?

If you don't know, Android System includes:
--Settings
--SystemBackupService
--com.lge.internal
--VpnDialogs
--Smart Log Service
--System Interface
--LGSetupWizard
--Image Updater
--com.android.providers.settings
--Android System
--Key Chain
--com.lge.lockscreen
--Shutdown Monitor
--LGSystemServer
--Task Manager
--LG MLT
--Google Backup Transport
--com.lge.hiddenmenu
--LocMgrProvider
--LockScreenSettings
--Home Selector
--Camera Test
As you can see, its not an app but several, its normal that they are in the top of usage list.
That depends also how you use your phone.
Some of them can be frozen, search in other threads and you'll find a list or screen shots of my frozen apps (if you're interested of course...)

70% because once your not using other apps, is logic that those that you use are in the top.
Some of them run in background, thats the reason to freeze them.

I am wondering if we have a task manager/process explorer app for Nexus 4? Currently I am using AirDroid v2 that includes a task manager, but I am looking for one with more options.
I travel a lot & would like to kill as much unwanted applications running in the background as possible to conserve battery.
There is no more need to use task killer to manage android systems any more. You will be doing more harm than good, in fact there is no good in killing tssks manually.

Point noted.
But when I use Airdroid task manager, I see a process when the corresponding app is not running the background.
To mention a few; Cut the rope free, stocks & Hill climb racing.
Few system process like picasa uploader, chrome etc.
As you said andoird may optimize most of them, but I would like some control when running thin on battery.

use greenify https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en to hibernate any persisting apps/processes (except system). apps relaunch when you open them.
Killing apps and then having to reload them actually uses more battery than them being dormant in the background and already loaded when called upon. The problem is when you have misbehaving apps that stay in the foreground eating up cpu, instead of going dormant into the background. And this does happen. I use an app called Watchdog that alerts me when this happens. It allows you to kill the app when this happens. It also allows you to whitelist and blacklist apps and processes.

fast reboot(free), but the paid version i like better https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.fastreboot&hl=en
rayiskon, I will try greenify & let you know how that helps.
fernandezhjr, I agree restarting app is not an optimal way, but I require to squeeze battery to atleast make phone calls when I am away from charging options.
simms22, fast reboot looks promising. I'll try the free one for now and take it from there.
It's kind of already been said, but I want to clarify as much as possible.
Apps running dormant in the background (using RAM) use no more power than if it weren't running. This is because all of the memory you have is being refreshed all the time, the controller has no idea whether there is actually data there, it still refreshes the entire space of memory.
Apps running "dormant" but using CPU do use more power than if it weren't running. I assume OP is wanting some sort of monitoring app that shows which apps are using CPU, in which case is fine. If OP is wanting to kill all apps that he isn't using at the time to conserve battery, then he would actually be doing the opposite of what he wants, as it requires to CPU to spin back up to restart it later. Again, the difference here is RAM vs CPU, one doesn't use battery (or rather, uses the same amount of battery, no matter how much of it is being utilized), and one can use more or less battery depending on how much it's used.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I understand killing process, shutting down cached process or apps & later restarting them is only going to fire up the CPU usage which completely defeats the purpose of conserving battery.
Though not a daily ask, at times I am stuck in situation where a phone call or SMS is all I need to keep me going.
Under the App Power Consumption menu within the Power Management Settings, you can view a list of "consuming apps" that supposedly use data and processing power in the background while the screen is off. I've currently got the following apps listed:
- Groupon
- Facebook Messenger
- Caller ID
- Weather
- Textra
- SnapLock (lockscreen replacement)
- Lux (auto brightness)
- GroupMe (messenger service)
They are listed in what appears to be a random order and none of my searches through the owners manual, xda, or google have told me exactly why these apps are listed OR what to really do about them. When I click on them, my only option is to uninstall them. NONE of them show up in the top 7 items of the battery usage statistics, so are they really "consuming power"?.
What is this list of apps really telling me and what can I do about it without deleting the apps completely?

I can tell you for example that FB messenger often wakes the phone to communicate with Facebook, even if you don't open it. Apps in battery usage are mostly apps you use, which consume even more power. These apps don't consume A LOT of power but they waste power mostly, what you can do is:
- Enable stanima which will prevent those apps from waking up the phone
- Go in data usage and disable "backgroud data" for those apps (which prevent them from connecting the CELLULAR network in the background
- Root and get Greenify and greenify them (which more radical than stanima)
- Uninstall them

Thank you so much for your response. I think I see what you're saying, but the following example is what causes me so much confusion:
I have Stamina mode enabled and Groupon (like most of the apps I listed in the OP) is NOT included in the white-list, so, it should be restricted from waking the phone or sending any background data while the phone is asleep. Yet, it shows up in the "consuming apps" list just like the two that are white-listed (FB Messenger & Textra). But maybe you're right - since they appear to use so little battery/data, its probably not worth changing anything. I just thought it was weird for them to show up in this list as if they are huge offenders.
Strange... I use Messenger and LUX, doesn't show up in the list.

Yeah, the list seems really random. I haven't even used groupon since I got this phone! And the apps listed don't really consume much power at all. So what does this list really mean?

Hi everyone.
So as to not create a new thread and seeing this is the most appropriate one related to my question:
My app power consumption lists are empty. Sounds like a good thing right? but I'm running the generic French 5.1.1 firmware on my phone (nit picky since my phone came from France ) and there should be some apps there regardless.
When I flashed the South African firmware my app power consumption list filled up with stuff that made sense which could drain battery.
To me this seems like a bug (small but still annoying lol). Does anyone else have this issue?
I've already tried a factory reset and I used Flashtool to flash the Firmware.

Yeah, I started this thread and couldn't get the apps in that list to go away until I deleted the data for stamina mode from the app manager. This basically acts like as full wipe but just for stamina mode. Now the list is empty and has remained empty for months.
