My phone goes into rampdump volume up + home + power or emergency dload volume up& down + home + power, but the phone is not responsive I am trying to unbrick my phone and I only have those options along with download which does not allow me to flash my phone. Just want to know what those options do and if there is any commands I can use while in those modes, ramdump or emergency dload?
Thanks

What kind of phone do you have?
Will your phome boot?
Download mode should allow you to flash your phone. That's what it is meant for. That's how I unbricked my SGH-S730M, I put the phone imto download mpde and used a flashing program on my computer.
Since I own a Samsung device I used Odin.

I have gt- s5830D trying to get some help because it's bricked beyond I believe. Tried flashing it and it just reboots when samsung appears.
any thoughts?
Thanks.
Just read your other thread. You are only supposed to flash PDA when flashing a rom. That's is how I bricked my SGH-S730M. I clicked on the PHONE button instead of the PDA. You need to fimd someone who is willing to give you all of their flash images for that phone.
You may have hard bricked your phone.
Go to this thread, they will be able to help you. They should have the files you need.

Post your circumstance on this thread. Tell them that you need all of the files for odin.
IF YOU DID NOT FLASH THE BOOTLOADER (USING ODIN) THEN YOU PROBLABLY DID NOT.HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE.
You can still boot, so that is a good sign.

PM (private message) the original poster (labeled OP) of the tread. I'm sure he will be able to help you if you tell him what is wrong with your phone.
You should only need the PDA, PHONE, and CSC files (they are not the same file, the tread I linked will explain this in a lot more detail).
DO NOT TOUCH THE BOOTLOADER BUTTON IN ODIN UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
You do not need boot files.
It is okay to flash with Odin without using all of the buttons.
All you need to do is follow the instructions to install stock rom. I wish I could help you more than I have, but they will know how to fix your problem more efficiently.
I wish you luck!

why I cant connect to wifi after flushing?
if you have ANY problem with booting/running your samsung phone, just reflash ROM:
a)bring phone in Download mode again (Turn it with pressing HOME+VOLUME DOWN+POWER buttons )
b) if you get display with showing image: computer connected to phone with broken cable, JUST simply connect it again to PC (better to another usb port) and run ODIN again!
that's my experience with SG3 and SGS+
so.. i have my samsung gsplus in downloading mode, what now???
it's like 10 minuts now
ow and now i even don't get it in download mode anymore.
Have the phone-pc logo.
odin won't connect..
can someone pleaze help me???
take out the battery
wait like 2-3 min
insert it again
boot into download mode and flash a stock rom via odin
ok phone is now in dowload mode again.
Won't set up a connection in odin :s
error: cannot open the usb serial port. code: 5
EDIT: ow that was becouse KIES was open.
Now it almost started bus ODIN freezes :s
try another usb port
or another computer
wauw haha thank you, just another usb port did the job

Use odin to reflash. Search for your model than download everything and follow guide or if you have backup on your phone.

Hold on, you are not totally bricked as such, if your phone can still boot up like that there is still much life in it. in this case Odin is your buddy. Download your stock firmware according to your region (im not sure if im allowed to post links to other sites, so i wont),
Download Odin (find out how to use it, with the PIT file and your Stock ROM)
Launch Odin (from your PC ofcoz)
Switch off your phone by removing the battery
Put the battery back in, hold HOME button + Volume Down + then POWER button, Your phone should go into download mode.
Connect you phone to the PC using your USB cable, (odin should highlight a yellow square to signal you that your phone has been detected)
Put all the file you downloaded into thier rightful place and then flash.
I have just jumbled it up to give you a general direction, there should be more detailed infor on this site, keep looking and good luck
Tar file
thanks alot guys..
I've downloaded the ODIN and now i've the PIT file but where can i get the TAR file for my i9001?
take a look at samfirmware.com , there you can get the stock roms you want

how can i know the stock firmware on my phone? it doesnot start up so i can't get into the settings or something? and i'm sry but i don't get what does the region do with the firmware?
I'm so sorry but i'm really a very new android user
Thank you so much

2. Just register here w w w.sammobile.com/firmware/ when done click firmware and download what you need!

As it was already mentioned go to samfirware.com and look for a stock rom espeacially for your region.
If you dont know wich to use, try to google the different country codes.
Further you should download odin 4.43 (u must use 4.43) and flash it back to the stock.

You only have to know that ur owning a I9001
Go to samefirware.com and check the regional code
Download Odin 4.43 ( u must!!!!! use 4.43 otherwise it´ll freeze while processing)
plug in ur usb cable and wait while odin checks ur phone
flash ur phone back to stock
(if u dont know how to use odin read a tut. or write a mail to me im an expert =))

Hello!
My friend asked me to help him, since i'm used to flash roms in my phone, so I'm not exactly sure what he did (nor he is). The thing is.. I tried everything already.
Tried all methods using Odin, didnt work.
Everywhere I see screens of bricked Galaxys are the same image with the broken pc connection. But here is different:

It's stuck with this image. Exactly like this. I can access download mode, but I can't access recovery mode.
Any help would mean a lot.
Thank you!

I bought a second hand GT-I9000 running stock OS. I want to root it, put on a new ROM and then unlock to other phone providers as its locked on Vodafone.
I have rooted a bunch of devices previously without problems but hit a big problem with this phone.
First I downloaded and installed the samsung drivers. I then plugged in the phone and it recognised it.
I am using the latest version of Odin 3.07 and downloaded the .tar file for my baseband version - XXJPY:
cf-root-xx_xeu_jpy-v1.3-busybox-1.17.1.tar
I got the phone into download mode, showing the green (yellow) triangle, added the .tar file in PDA mode with F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot on.
The bar on Odin was blue and the box said "added" so I hit start. The large first box at the top of the Odin screen (left hand side) came up with KERNEL and the whole process started but seemed to be taking ages then the phone screen scrambled.
The phone was soft bricked and I have got it back to download mode.
The problem I have now is Odin wont recognise the phone in download mode. I am installing new samsung drivers in the hope this will solve this problem.
I have got the .pit file for my phone from another thread and if I understand correctly I use this file in Odin to get the phone back to life??
If I can get it working again can anyone tell me why the root failed?

Patience, mate... cool head helps better. Use this step-by-step guide of mine where all download links still work. The workflow there is about installing Froyo stock ROM (big choice for all regions) and after that you can flash SpeedMod kernel which features CWM recovery. That ROM seems to be good ground to upgrade further to CM10x, I had no bugs at all (some people upgrading from other ROMs seem to be more prone to bugs).
Here is the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44710247#post44710247

Well, Odin indeed needs several minutes to complete the flashing. But if really nothing changes for longer than 7-8 minutes, pull out the USB cable and then battery and repeat the procedure. Try also an older Odin version, I think 1.72 or even 1.0 work well with the i9000. Check in search field, there is an topic with all Odin versions and their compatibility.
I hope it will work next try, good luck! Post the results please.
EDIT: if Odin fails to complete the flashing, Heimdall is probably good idea. Our forum mate has sent you download link of the older version thaht works well with the i9000. Heimdall is actually more reliable flasher, but it has bit different workflow. Here is website where you can read more about it:

"param.lfs" is actually extremely important file where the flashing shouldn't been interrupted. But its flashing should take normally only several seconds, so if the Odin stuck there and nothing changes for really long time, you can't make it worse than it already is by removing the cable....

Are you trying to flash Froyo stock ROM out of three files? I didn't try it with Heimdall. I know our forum mate @DumF0rGaming has mentioned recently some 2.3.6 ROM that should work particulary good with Heimdall. Check his post of last few days.
Good that your phone gives signs of life. Don't worry now, there are so many ways how it could work. We all have semi-bricked our phones on some point before and restored them again. You need patience. I would also try with several Odin versions, also try to connect the cable to different USB slot on your PC. Often it is some stupid reason that makes the flashing suddenly work.
Try also with Odin 1.0

This other thread may help towards getting into recovery mode.
Hello
Thankyou for the reply
I was able to get the phone to "Downloading mode" but its not working from there
I tried the links you pointed out and phone seems to be still stuck
When i boot my phone normally, i still have "mobile .. Exclamation .. PC " icon
I can put my phone to Downloading mode with android icon and Odin recognises my phone
But im not able to recover the phone from that state
Can you guide me to thread which can help me from those steps
Shls i download bootloader or without bootloader ...any steps are appreciated
I was once in the spot you are in, even to the point of having the same screen and not getting to Recovery.
I solved my problem with this Heimdall One-Click from the thread you originally referenced:
I897UCKK4 Stock, Wipe, with option to install Bootloaders, Param, and Repartition-Heimdall One-Click.
Man.. you are my hero
My fone is up and running now with first time flash. i see some pixel thing u mentioned but everything is sweet
Could you kindly help me show steps to upgrade the fone to latest software ,, lollipop or kitkat
thanks again
I took mine up to CyanogenMod 10.2, which is JellyBean 4.3.
Since then I have reflashed it with GamerzRom v4, based on CyanogenMod 10.1 - JellyBean 4.2.2. It's thread is here.
I am using my Captivate as a media player and Sports App/Activity tracker. In fact I have disabled much that came with the ROM, an act to pare down what is running on it. I haven't tried any of the KitKat or Lollipop ports available in the forum. Recommending any of them would be pure guesswork on my part. The best I can do is suggest reading a portion of the threads for the ROMs available, being clear about what you expect your phone to do, and try the best fit. There is no reason you couldn't try several.
Thank you fro the reply
how did you get into recovery mode?
I tried pressing volume up/down and power button and all i see is att logo
Go into download mode and use odin one click to flash stock Rom.
There are many ways to boot into download mode, its different from recovery mode in case you bricked your phone and you're not able to access the recovery you could try going into dl mode and using a computer and a USB cable to fix it. I will post a tutorial link.

It's been a couple of years, but I think I used one of the battery pull methods listed in the second link I posted. A quick clip from that post:
FROM A POWERED-DOWN STATE - BATTERY REMOVED
- Insert battery, then press and hold Vol+ and Vol-, then press and hold power. hold all 3 for 5 seconds.
- Press and hold Vol+/Vol-, Insert Battery, hold power. hold all 3 for 5 seconds
- Press and hold Vol+/Vol-, hold power, Insert Battery
- Insert battery, then press and hold Vol+, then press and hold power. hold all 3 for 5 seconds.- Press and hold Vol+, Insert Battery, hold power. hold all 3 for 5 seconds- Press and hold Vol+, hold power, Insert Battery

Before you started all of this were you on GingerBread bootloaders?
If you were not on GB bootloaders, did you flash them when you used the Odin/Heimdall One-Click?
At this point I am thinking you should have a stock recovery on your phone. Even so, you should still be able to get into Recovery Mode, either stock or custom, with one of the listed methods. I am almost at the point of suggesting you reflash the Odin One-Click.

The solution may be to Odin flash a KK4 kernel that includes CWM recovery. I an searching for the Corn KK4 kernel, the one I used, but have yet to find it.

Before you flash more with bootloaders and modems I would suggest using the Phone Info *Samsung* app to verify what is on the phone. It is free in the Play Store, the dev is vndnguyen. I don't actually think there would be a problem one way or the other, but it's always good to know and this way you flash the correct kernel.
