Any Body has update to V20E in Hong Kong ? anything change ?
I found the previous V20D was quite buggy, quite a few unexplained issues during normal use. I flashed CM7 and happy with it, not interest on stock rom anymore.
I don't want to give up stock rom coz want to know can update to ICS in one day
( Fairy Tail only )
me2, I've updated to 20e, it seems to be a little bit better than 20d.
The Update was disable !!!

You don't have to worry about that, you can flash back to stock rom at anytime. I did it few times without any problem.
The thread below described how to a flash stock rom file (.kdz):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327929
It's recommended to download your current kdz rom file from LG web site:
1. open a browser and type this in address bar: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=XXX...XXX
replace XXX...XXX with IMEI number of your phone;
2. it will return a long string contained a URL of a kdz file ('http://csmg.lgmobile.com.....kdz')
3. copy that URL and download that kdz file to your HDD.
i.e. URL for V20D: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP990/AHKGBK/V20d_00/V20D_00.kdz;
In my case, I was using other custom rom before, when LG release GB I flashed my phone back to V10F followed the method above, and then used LG tools on-line upgraded to V20D.
Hi Eric and hkkp,
My experience is CM7 give me a smoother experience and better battery life:
http://bbs.hiapk.com/thread-2931011-1-1.html
However, you need to update the latest CM7 kernel in order to fix the "sleep death" problem:
http://www.4shared.com/folder/9Y9RYzQA/_online.html
Advantage of stock rom is better screen and photo quality.
Someone have modified and improve the stock rom, I have tried and it is better than the stock one. If you really care about the camera and video quality more than smoothness and performance, you should use this:
http://www.angeeks.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1848884&extra=page%3D1%26filter%3Dtypeid%26typeid%3D14%26typeid%3D14
I am look forward to the ICS. CM9 will come up very soon. It will release before the formal LG one.
Our india got same v20e at same nearby date of hong kong.
Its somewhat better and had heridetry proxy settings in wifi. I dint use it long but it was less battery eater. May be it was optimized for asian sim providers.
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
switched to MIUI rom now, it has a bit more functions which is useful for me. MIUI + ironKernel + Go Launcher, sounds like a perfect combination.
I believe when LG release ICS, there must be CM9 and/or some other better custom rom out there. I won't go back to stock rom unless I need to bring my phone back to LG repairing centre.
i straight away rooted my Gnote after bought it from the store. so im not sure about the performance b4 root. I can see few problems after rooting e.g. below
1) battery drain very fast
2) RAM utilization very high even though i saw no weird apps running in background (in setting-running application ) @ 450 above over 797Mb
3) sometime the phone became heated
4) if the bat was at 10% and below, the soft touch button became un-functional. need to restart to gain back the soft touch button
below is my ROM info
baseband: n700XXLA4
Kernel Vers: 2.6.35.14- ver.4.2
[email protected] -k50IN
Build no: Gingerbread.XXLA6
Appreciate any of the experts here to give some solution of my problems
Thanks in advance!
No Sir It's Common at all,
You should surely change the rom you are using, and Why are you still on GingerBread 2.3.6 ? You Should switch to ICS for better everything, but do it safely, Here is my Guide :

Good Luck.

Same thing happened to me. It is common to heat up, it says so in the manual. As far as going to ics you should wait a little bit until things settle down and the roms become more stable. So far the smoothest custom ics rom is rocket rom v3
Stick with Gingerbread

just a heads up, Rocket rom v3 has a unsafe kernel. READ the ops instructions or you will likely end up with a brick
ooo thanks for the replies. so i think let me wait for some better ICS then. but is there any solution for GB for the time being?
Hi guys!I read this forum for a very long time but I really, really can't find exactly what I need.
So I got my first Android phone and it's Samsung Galaxy S-i9000.Now I really know more about android phones and RAM and CPU for Android phones. However, now I think the better choise is Galaxy S 2 because of 1 GB RAM,it's faster and it has flash for camera(But I don't really need flash ).
The problem is RAM and I really like games like Subway Surfers,Temple Run,Ski Challenge,Real Racing.
I own Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 2 months and when i bought phone, firmware was Gingerbread 2.3.3.It was smooth and fast, but I had a battery drain problem. After charging and playing games,Android OS was draining my battery,so I had to reboot my phone after every charging and playing game.I searched a solution and i found that draining battery is bug of firmware 2.3.3.So I updated it via Kies to 2.3.4 XXJVQ and draining was still there but less than with 2.3.3.I didn't know what to do,so I searched forums and found that I should update to original Gingerbread 2.3.6 JVU.I bricked my phone, because Odin stuck at setup connection. There was just image of phone-!-computer when I booted.I was able to go to download mode and I immediately took my phone to repair service.Repairman installed to me 2.3.6 JVU and it is bit slower, slower for some games.I am sad.I don't know what to do.It is only 320 MB available.
-What should I do?
-I think I should take my phone to repairman and say him to install new firmware but I don't know which firmware. Can you tell me please?I want fast firmware without bugs and battery drain and I really want to play games like Subway Surfers and Temple run without lags like I used to play wit Gingerbread 2.3.3 and 2.3.4.
-Is there simple solution to change firmware?
-Why did I bricked phone last time when I tryed to update it.Is it because I maybe don't have USB 2.0 port.
Please reply.
P.S. I don't really like Custom ROMS because I think they are slow and unsafe.
Sorry for bad English

You should better use USB 2.0 to update the firmware, Samsung USB driver must be installed and Kies process killed by the Task Manager (it loves to work in the background and can block flashing via Odin)
BTW, if you have used incompatible Odin version for your i9000 that also could be a reason for soft brick.
I fail to understand your point, as custom ROMs are actually faster and less laggy (especially when BigMem enabled: 407MB of RAM)
But for gaming is probably recent GB firmware a better choice. So all after JVT are fine, maybe JW7 would be best for you, it was released for Portugal and you can download it from sammobile.com
If not sure about something, check my i9000 guide

I am sure that I closed all Kies proccesses, and I used Odin 1.85 which is compatible with my phone,so I think the problem is USB port. That computer was old.Do you think it is because of old computer?
Wait,it is based on Android 4.x and my phone has to be rooted.I realy don't want to root my phone, and this Gingerbread JVU 2.3.6 (currently on my phone) is value pack too and it is slow.Very less RAM available. Is it about Kernel maybe. My kernel is [email protected] #2. I don't understand why wouldn't you root the phone....
Root would give you so much more options. Stock ROMs are full of bloatware that slowes the phone incredibly down.
With root access to your firmware you could uninstall all useless Samsung apps and it would boost the speed of your i9000.
Flashing a Semaphore_2.5.0bm.tar kernel would grant you full root access, CWM recovery and you could enable 409MB of memory on your phone, what isn't imaginable now (on costs of 720p video playback that wouldn't be possible anymore)

Because I want to took phone to service and tell them to install me new rom, beacuse I'm scared after first brick. And I think they won't root my phone and install custom roms. That's the reason I want Official Stock Firmware for GT-i9000 which is fast for games.I just want to tell them which firmware I want. And I am so confused about kernels.I don't even know should my phone be rooted to change kernel...
So,please if you know some fast Official Stock Firmware without bugs and lag, tell me. :highfive:

OK, I understand.
So, the latest one is JW9, not many people know it as it came very late and only for very few countries. But I remember people were saying it was awsome. Try Portugal one and if CSC works in your country stick with it (screenshot attached)
If no, this one will ceirtanly work (as it has multi-CSC) is this JW4 release:
Code:
United Kingdom / Ireland: 2012 April GB 2.3.6 I9000XXJW4 csc: I9000OXAJW5
I know that one, quite smooth, not very fast (compared to JB or KK roms) but stable and with excellent battery life. Best you can do is to download both, check that the zips aren't corrupted (download error) and give them both into your service and tell the guys to try first if JW9 works in your country. It should, actually.
Good luck and let know later if you like them

Allright,I think I'm will download just JW4.I googled, but there are many opinions.
Have you tried it yet?Tell me is it fast for games. That's most importan to me.
Also, people say it has 364 MB avaiable,BUT i'm little suspicious. Some peole say that 200-220 MB RAM is already unavailable when you turn on your phone. Is that true?I'm sorry if I'm boring but I really want to know all these answers before I took my phone to service.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

BTW, you know, I got so curious about the JW9 as I really didn't know it and I've just flashed JW9 today and: I must say I am bit shocked how good it is! It is far the best gingerbread I ever tried, incredibly fast and smooth., much better than the CM7.x (2.3.7)!!

No problem mate
Yes, it is all together 364 available as part of 500MB is fixed (reserved) for some system functions.... actually, with only 500MB capacity, the RAM of the i9000 is already around 60% full / used before you start any app or game.
Go for JW9, it is amazing! It is obviously better, faster and smoother than the JW4.
It will be no problem about signal I think, basebands in Europa are so similar.
I just showed it my wife and she wants that I install it for her instead of the CM11...... she prefers GB's layout and design..... Oh, yes: it just flies with SpeedMod kernel k-17-3.... but it is also very fast with its stock kernel

I changed my mind. Then,I will probably tell them to install JW9.I don't care does it include my language, but I just need english language. Is english avaiable in JW9.After 1-2 days using tell me,please,is that good firmware.I just wanna know some basics:
-Is battery good? (I gotta admit that battery on 2.3.6 JVU (now on my phone) is very good,no Android OS bugs, but performance is bad)
-How much RAM is avaiable and how much is unaviable when you turn on phone?
-Is Temple Run lag?
-Is that Value Pack? (I hate to lose RAM on that kind of firmware,I don't even like new features,I really don't care )
If I finally make my phone stable and fast, you're the best!

LOL, it is not about language pack, but Baseband / Radio- frequences for mobile networks that can vary in different regions of the world
Comparation: I know JVU well from before, IMHO, the JW9 is better in all terms. Faster, smoother, great.
It also looks much nicer, I've attached you few screenshots, I only couldn't make it fast enough to open the drawer before screen was printed (releasing of back+home button makes a shot, but also exits from laucher drawer)... it is my cat as wallpaper
My wife has liked so much the JW9 that she asked me to de-install her CM11 and flash JW9 on her i9000 today!
By no apps running, I had 42% RAM free, what is very good for the i9000
But you will also need some day root access, if nothing else just to uninstall Samsung's bloat apps that you'll never need and they slow your phone down. With root apps, one can hibernate many processes and

Don't worry about baseband. It will work with your country's network. The guys in service will take care of it.
I will check later about RAM, but it will probably be about the same like with JVU.
I know you need more memory, that is why I suggested you to flash a custom kernel, Semaphore enables up to 384,5 MB on stock GB roms and up to 409 MB with KK roms.

Hi,
I've checked the firmware for Portugal from sammobile.com and it is totally bloated with stuff for some portugese provider.
Here you have a clean- non-branded XWJW9 firmware for your i9000, best Gingerbread I ever tried:

It has open Europe-CSC so it will ceirtanly work also in your country. If your language keyboard is missing, just install free app MultiLingual Keyboard
So, good luck and lots of fun- happy New Year with your new i9000

Can I flash either the Portugese or German XWJW9 firmware on my SGS? The one I'm currently on right now is the XXJW4 UK/IRELAND with multi-csc. Wifi signal is weak but when the phone is right beside the router, the wifi signal fluctuates.
I'm in the Philippines by the way. I'm a bit worried that the baseband and CSC for the XWJW9 won't work in my country.
Thanks.

Yes, JW9 will work. If the baseband isn't working, you can replace the modem later with any root file browser. Sometimes changing the region in the Wi-Fi settings can really help. You should try. Maybe no need for JW9.

Hello everybody, first please apologize me for my bad english.
I've my S3 since one year and a drain of my battery appears randomly.
I've noticed this problem with all my batteries : i used official 2100mah and 3000mah from Samsung but the issue is the same.
I've tried a lot of custom roms (cyanogenmod, stock, amcha, ...) in 4.1.2 or 4.3 and stock, agni and boeffla kernel and the problem is still there.
This night, i've put my phone on flight mode, there was no wacklocks, i'm on stock rom in 4.3 and as you can see in the screenshoot, device idle and android os were draining battery very hard.
What's your opinion about that ?
Thanks for helping me

Hi,
Are you sure there is no wakelock ? Did you use an app like BetterBatteryStats (or others) to check this ? You should try to reproduce with this kind of apps installed and then post screenshots of BetterBatteryStats (for instance) for each type of stats (Other, kernel WL, Partial WL, Alarms, Network ,etc.)
By the way, I advise you to post screenshots in english if you want to be understood by everyone.
I had drastic battery draining issues when i installed 4.3 update (from 4.1.2)
It was draining 40% of battery overnight even on flight mode.
Then i flashed 4.4.4 stock rom and its working perfectly ok now.
Only 2% of battery is reduced overnight on flight mode

Yes, before, with 4.3.x, I had the famous random mdm_hsic_pm0 stuck wakelock issue that was draining my battery.
Now, I'm also on 4.4.4 and no problem so far.
I'm now testing stock 4.4.4 and i haven't this issue yet.
Hope it will continue...

Hello Xda
Recently i have got Xperia z1 and it's really amzing and fast for me but there are some few question and problems i cant find solution.
1. My current android version is 4.3 i was thinking for lolipop and after searching i have found that Lolipop is a pathetic release for Z1, so i want to know that should i stay on 4.3 or downgrade to 4.2.2 or can i upgrade to kitkat ?? is it stable or worth upgrading.
2. When i turn on or off O2 logo came on my screen and some o2 apps installed. Well in my country if there is any kind of logo in mobile firmware its value decrease peoples think its a fake so is there any chance or way to remove this ? I'm familiar with rooting and have done a lot of on Nexus, Xperia P, S, Galaxy 1-2 etc etc.
Thanks in advance.
bump! still no reply
for the z1 there is both kitkat and lollipop update. I'd say update it, i like the update. If you're not really sure then first find the ftf file of the 4.3 version in case you'll want to downgrade back
is lolipop stable ??? as i visited a lot of thread and peoples are complaining about battery drain heatup issue and some features not working like xLoud xReality etc etc

If you want better battery life and dont care about the new Lollipop I suggest you update to 4.4.4 and stick with it until some "major updates" solve the heating issue and battery drain and slow charging of the lollipop version cause its really annoying, at least for me because i'm using my phone almost 7,8 hours a day using 3G,wifi,music player, and calling and Lollipop simply doesnt work for me because I have to constantly put my phone on charge, I mean its ridiculous when my phone discharge faster than its charge!
But on kitkat its almost on peak of the performance (considering the battery life)
You may update to 5 if youre not heavily using the phone but otherwise at present, the best choice is 4.4.4 (btw I'm using iHackers 6.2 with trinity kernel)
For second part you may flash any unbranded ftf rom so there is no more carrier logo

But on kitkat its almost on peak of the performance (considering the battery life)
You may update to 5 if youre not heavily using the phone but otherwise at present, the best choice is 4.4.4 (btw I'm using iHackers 6.2 with trinity kernel)
For second part you may flash any unbranded ftf rom so there is no more carrier logo

did you have those problems on stock unrooted lollipop from your country? cause i had battery drain only on prerooted while on stock "update with pc companion" the battery life was as kitkat for me

No I didn't try any prerooted rom just flashed stock ftf
Some guya suggest using phone for 2,3 days will improve battery life
I use it for 1 week even without root (pure stock) and no improve so far! So tail between legs I came back to KK!!
I can confirm that battery leak is only in "screen on"
Funny part is that stock LP use same battery as CM12 and for me there is no reason to choose stock over CM so I just got back to my previous combination!! using iHackers 6.2 alongside CM12 (Multirom)
Btw thanks fo reply bro
