Help to improve X8 performance!!

Hello everyone
i'd been watching,learning from all of you(devs and members)
before buying my sweat-heart x8
i've done all things i learned
now i've rooted,CWM, GingerDX X8 with Cypress(real dual touch)
and every thing work fine.
i want your recommendations to increase my phone speed
like good apps and modules
this my only request please don't ignore me or spam

HEy one way to increase your phones performance is by increasing its RAM ....
Use SWAPPER to increase your ram...i got 103 mb of free ram....try it it rocks....

SWAP is NOT recommended. Its good for more RAM but it is NOT recommended.
But it isnt my choice it yours (OP)

Overclocking is important.....but our phone need more ram....i swap just to play GTA 3.......

@up how to use Swap on stock kernel?
@op u can also use e15i optimizer plus ram manager pro plus speed boost lite and sd booster. These programs are free on market. E15 optimizer is on this forum. I think that u did OC so I didnt mention it : p

You can change your kernel to incrase more. Sometimes some phone can have higher CPU frequencies, it depend on their hardware. So test it yourself, but first, disable "set on boot" option, or you will end up in a bootloop!!
SD Booster: This, your setting depends on your SD card class.
Chainfire3D: You can use this to improve your gaming performance. I think I explained in my other thread, right?
Odex quickens your phone booting time and system apps too...
Swap on stock kernel is not possible... sorry...
Supercharger: There is a guide in dev section. I will paste link later...
Best SD cache cleaner.. this I am not sure, I dont use it anymore.

1. Take out your SD and observe. You should see the class.
2. Its dinner time. Anyone can help me? (Chainfire & Supercharger)
3. I use supercharger and odex together, no reboots. Uninstall Ram manager.
4. I am not too sure... 11w34 should be possible. But I cant confirm...

im using gingerdx, i havent done any optimizing as i assume it was cooked in the rom?
i used setcpu to under clock when the screen is off - battery lasts alot longer, works well,since i cant limit the clock in the gingerdx setting

Hello to all.
I'm here again
STOP! THIS MOD IS ONLY FOR SAMMY JB AND ICS BASED ROM! IT DOESEN'T WORK ON CM10, ASOP, AOKP, MIUI OR OTHER ROM!
THE PROBLEM
Our gs3 has a very bad memory managment. Ram decrease, lags, memory leak and a lot of problem with multitasking are present on this wonderful device. We have a very important hardware but 1gb of ram and a bad software optimization make our gs3 not give a good feeling in heavy usage.
THE SOLUTION
bestMultiTaskingFix is a set of tweaks that allows to solve bugs management of memory and no possibility of mulitasking the galaxy s3.
Through this zip you can solve these problems and eliminate lags and manage a very large number of applications at the same time without having problems of slowness of poor memory.
In addition app phone, contacts and camera are locked in memory to make these faster to run.
I can play 2games togheter and navigate on internet with firefox and send messages with gosms without lags. Of course more apps are opened more is the risk of lags and leak of memory so be carefull.
FIRST OF ALL, do a Nandroid backup, as well as a backup of your sd-card content !
You're doing this at your very own risk, I'm not to be held responsible if something goes wrong

What do you need
Galaxy s3 , root and custom recovery
Kernel with swap support
If you have Supercharger disable it!!
If you have Zram enabled, disable it!!
If you have HardSwap enabled disable it!!
Donwload the zip attached
Buil prop editor installed (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor)
Remove all memory app, task killer with oom or minfree settings like AutoKiller Memory Optimizer, System turner, rom toolbox or similar. You can use these but not for set up memory stuffs!!!
THE GUIDE
Download latest bestMultiTaskingFix
1)Edit your build.prop file
Open Built prop editor and change these value:
- davilk.vm.heapsize must be setted to 192m
- davilk.vm.heapstartsize must be setted to 8m
- davilk.vm.heapgrowthlimit must be setted to 64m
Then reboot
2)Go into recovery and flash file
a) Flash bestMultiTaskingFix.zip
b) Reboot your phone
Notes
Not use any memory app, task killer with oom or minfree settings like AutoKiller Memory Optimizer, System turner, rom toolbox or similar. You can use these but not for set up memory stuffs!!!
Not use supercharger!!
You can check if swap is working installing terminal emulator and writing free. If values of space in Swap line are different from 0 value, you are ok.
If you have lags, kill all process with a task killer like advanced task manager(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.taskmanager)

i use cool tool ram monitoring and it shows me 170 - 210 average
is there any way to check the status in android emulator ?

to be honest i`ve got about 350 apps (including system ) on my phone but still , before this tweak i use to have an average of 300 mb free ram using autokiller only

As said... This method is tested on ics! For JB I don't know if it works...

Hi i have a couple of questions
1. What does your solution do exactly, can u explain in layman terms?
2. Why remove V6 supercharger? Because it conflicts with your solution or because it doesn't work as it should?
3. This is more of an unrelated question. If I already have supercharger installed default in my rom, using Autokiller together with it is ok or not?

This seems to hard isn't there a cwm file that we can flash. Thank you

Tomorrow I'll update the guide to make it more easy and with a cwm zip with the correct configuration of values all myself made!
I'm testing it from 36 hours and the result is excellent. Wonderful multitasking and no lags at all! Switching from nova 3 to dead trigger then to Facebook and Tapatalk then to nova 3 without lags is awesome! Now the power of quad core finally can come out!

Might be worth commenting on how battery life is using this guide?
It's interesting to see how much free RAM you have on your screenshots. I always seem to be stuck at ~100mb. Might give this a try!

I just noticed (and saw on wiki) that our ace has 384MB RAM and 512MB "ROM"
i put togetzer the numbers i had: system + data + cache = always around 400MB. What is the rest used for? i mean 100MB are 100MB if you know what i mean.
same with RAM. is it used by some kind of ramdisk or what is it used for? cuz we just have ~276MB. Also more than 100MB going "nowhere"
I read somewhere that some ram is used for GPU. true?

There's system, data, cache, boot, binaries, a lot of partitions (including efs), the device's hardware controllers, etc. That's where 512 MB run off to.

Ace have 330MB RAM - when the kernel boots they is an info about it in dmesg, but only ~280MB is alivbe for the user, other is reversed for the GPU (mostly), audio processing and etc.

In my opinion you don't be worrie with the Mb Ram it's appear or not. be worrie with ROM,
The ROM is like an HD, and like you now the system android it's based on Linux, so like every system linux you have on less 3 partitions, and 1 of them have a type Swapp. and if this partition be small if the Ace don't have Mb Ram, he go to the partition Swapp use the Mb that's in fault.
So see the differences.
Ram 330+ Rom 512 or
Ram 330 + Rom (1st partition 250+ 2nd partition 150 + Swap 100)
Ram 330 + Rom (1st partition 350+ 2nd partition 150 + Swap 12)
and don't forget you have the micro SD with memory extra.
in my point of view this option is the best Ram 330 + Rom (1st partition 250+ 2nd partition 150 + Swap 100) because you have more memory to complement at RAM.

MiniCM10 questions

Hi guys, I've just installed miniCM 4.0.2 on my friend's x8: this is great, you've made this old 2.2 crap run like hell! I really want to thank all devs for this great job. And I have 4 questions:
- In future releases will kernel be updated via MiniCM Updater or there'll always need to flash tft via flastool?
- Is there a way to flash new kernels with cwm and/or without a PC/mac?
- Reboot issues on 4.0.2 stable can depend on kernel?
- Are these just ram/too many bkgrd procs issues that I can solve using a mount partition?

Kernels cant be flashed via our phone presently...(it might be possible in the future)

Do what I did.
I tested minicm for a month now.
Best solution for me is:
1. SWAP 128mb with swappiness 60
2. KSM on
3.Purging assets on
4. Zram off (zram for some reason, lags and crashes my system)
5. Limit backround processes to 4
6. Force 2d rendering on
7.Disable HW overlays on
8. OC to 748 mhz with smartass 2
9. surface improvement ONLY color banding (without blur effect)
10. 16 bit transaprency
11. Entropy seeder
12. A2SD with dalvik cache on sd
13. Sd cache --> 512 kbs
My antutu score is 3911

Better to use swap partition (create via pc "minitool partition home edition")
-swap partition is faster than swap file(a little bit)
-swappiness above 40~60 can decrease sdcard life.
-if u use swap so disable compcache in cyanogen settings(speeds up & make phone responsible.
-overclock more than 729mhz can harm our chipset

Yes percentage
For kernel Swappiness 100 means : no difference between ram & swap partition , so whole system will slow down
For kernel Swappiness 0 means : swap partition should not be used at all!
#higher swappiness means more active swap( effects SD life)
#app swapper2 is a good option to controll swap!

Where do I set all these settings?
Is it all under performance section? Can't find all of them there.
Thanks for info anyway I'll try it out for shure.
Btw: is it a class 6 microSD enough? Tested with ubuntu is 5.7 mb/s writing and 19.8 mb/s reading

Number 13 You can use via third party apps (for example SD Speed Increase).

Swap and a2sd are native functions of ROM/kernel (numbers 1 and 12).
MicroSD class 6 is absolutely minimum for Swap, but it should works.

I'll upgrade to a class10 sd asap, but for the moment is more than ok (coming from 2.1 stock **** now seems flying)

As you know all the apps are getting bigger and bigger and Xperia so with it's poor memory of can't handle all of the apps.
Recently I have some bad time with the ram memory (see the attachment)
I read about an app called "ROEHSOFT RAM Expander (SWAP)" it's paid app that use partition from sdcard on ram and it needs a kernal that support swap.
Does anyone tried that app ??
Is there any chance of a hardbrick??

ROM : Official CM13
Kernal: helium v24.

No you won't get hardbricked but you'd be doing yourself a deservice as the act of using SWAP is CPU intensive and will degrade your SD Card to a large extent due to many r/w operations that are required.
