Does it make a difference if you turn power saving mode off?

i also noticed that my battery icon looks really full. but when i go into the power setting it says less than 50% but looks more like 80-90%.

i haven't actually turned my power saver on as yet. I have a 6000Mah back up battery that i use so not to concerned about saving power.

Lt25i battery life

Somehow, my xperia V battery kinda drains pretty fast..while in idle(left phone at room)..aftr 30 minutes, around 4% being down..i dont know why..seems like android system eat my battery..
Sent from my LT25i using Tapatalk 2
Don't forget, it's a new install. Everything has been changed, all caches are gone. Your phone needs to rebuild all. This can take a few days up to a week, depending on how much data you have.
Let it settle some time and you will notice that it will get better.
Did I help? Please press the thanks button

Try the turning the the extended standby mode in settings and tell me is it working as I am not sure it working on mind.
Can you tell me when your mobile data and/or wifi is turned on when your display is off for a few minutes, unlock to see if it did turn off mobile data/or wifi then it turn on again automatically please.
I have exactly the same problem on my T. Sometimes with Android System, sometimes with Dialer. Don't know why is this happening as many users don't have any problems at all...
well, u can see at the screen shot the logo up there that i use the extended standby mode..and currently, i dont have any mobile data, and it set off all the time, i only using wifi...but turn off when not using..thats all..

32gb c10...but since i just buy the sd card recently, it just been song and picture, no games for the time being, i expect more battery drain if im playing games...so got a little worried..
If you have many pictures and music (just like me - 32GB class 4 SD) there may be issues with media scanner which is trying to scan (possibly) corrupted files or something like that. It's a known issue with JellyBean where the system tries to scan the SD card and hangs in one place which produces unstoppable wakelock. Try to google that and you will see many users reporting similar issues
Besides mediaserver states for music player. If you turn the music on and turn off the screen there will ALWAYS be a mediaserver wakelock. When you turn the music off, close the music player and turn screen off, mediaserver wakelock will stop.
Is there anyone on this thread can show how the extended standby mode works I lost how it actually works.
I went down to shop and played around with a sony xperia T which has the extended standby mode. Same thing happen when wifi/mobile data turned on waited for a a 1/2/3 minutes and unlocked but same thing happen it was still on so I at how it works plus I looked at and stop few services running in settings/apps.
---------- Post added at 06:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:42 PM ----------
I read how the extended standby mode works. I now know I would have wait 15 minutes for it to turn off wifi/mobile data. I thought I only need to wait a minute or two.
Here is the website http://developer.sonymobile.com/2012/10/05/learn-about-extended-standby-mode-sonys-new-power-save-feature-video/
I think I might stick to JuiceDefender Ulimate app as it turned them off automatically.

The story of my short life battery!
I got my Xperia T 3 days ago, and today i put Jelly bean, but right from the beginning, with wifi turned off, data turned off, overnight the battery drains by 30%.
It does not even stay for half a day! I searched around in net, and in Sony forums they say, since the phone is new, it would take time to settle?? Frankly , this is the first phone i am experiencing this issue with, none of the phones i used , ever drained battery with possibly nothing being used within a day!
I was excited of this phone, but now i feel depressed because of this battery issue it has taken me down since i bought it.
I am thinking of replacing the battery, but guys any suggestions from your side, any Apps which can help me tell who is eating away all the battery?BTW it says "Android System" 70% usage!! Is this normal??
Please help.

So did you find any solution? its either we are unlucky to get bad battery units, as others are not facing this issue, or it is really that the battery would take time. Only time will tell for the second one!

NoLED confirmed working

I need some sort of on screen notification or multicolored led and the ambient display is not working correctly ( I think I may have covered the sensor with my glass screen protector) so good old trusty NoLED works great just want to let you guys know...

Does the nexus 6 not have a standard notification LED?
There's an LED behind the top speaker grille according to people on reddit. Can't confirm yet, my Nexus 6 arrives on Friday (before 8p per FedEx)
Yes there are reports of a led behind the speaker but until someone hacks it NoLED is perfect for me... Just have to keep track of battery to make sure its not draining it too much

the LED behind the speaker works fine with the full version of Lightflow. there is a thread in general with the instructions for setup. No blinking yet.
LightFlow
If you are rooted and have install light flow it works flawlessly. Its actually really bright even though its behind a grill.

Neled has been giving me issues for some reason. I've been using it for years on multiple devices with the exact same configuration. However, on this device it completely shuts off as soon as the battery gets to 100%.

Hmm.. Mine shows a battery charge notification dancing around with the other NoLed icons on the screen. Starts at 100% & then starts down.... 97, 95, then starts back back up to 100% and keeps Cylcling this way. Doesn't shut off by itself.

So yours counts down till fully charged? Mine will show the charging % but goes up until it hits 100. I have it set to stop showing charging percent once it hits 100%. However, the whole thing turns off when it hits 100 instead. Its really odd.

I have it set to turn on at 10pm and off at 830am. It does work and comes on at 10 like it should but like I previously mentioned, for some reason once the charging rate hits 100% it just shuts down and I have a black screen.

Did you recently root your phone? Mine has been a little off since I rooted. At times it will be active to where if I touch the screen it will bring up the capacitive button but the notification icon won't show it'll just be a black screen

I rooted and unlocked immediately when I got the phone before I installed anything.
Well I guess you could just set it to not shut off at 100 percent.. Your phone will still be on the charger so its not going to drain your battery

I can try that and see if that works. Only thing is, in that setting, it's only supposed to stop showing the charge %, not all indications including time.

After decryption the behavior seems to have changed slightly. Found that a battery Monitor app that turns on screen at 100% charge was causing NoLed to stop. Another app that supposedly helps battery life was turning off accessibility for NoLed, Pie, & a couple of others. Something I will need to sort out in the coming weeks.
What is the bigger battery drain, Light Flow or Ambient Display? With Light Flow the light stays on CONSTANTLY if you only have one notification. It doesn't blink it just stays on. With Ambient Display it pulses on and off. If Light Flow actually gave us the ability to set a flash rate of the lights it would be awesome.
What do you think, which is a greater drain on the battery, a flashing screen or a solid light?
Yes the nexus 6 does have a led under the speaker grill. You just need to be rooted and light flow pro I get all my notification that way

My wifi is on. I don't turn it off/on manually and never needed to, not sure what you are asking.
Phone is not on the charger every night because it doesn't need to be. It lasts >1 day many times and I charge it to 100% using quick charge which only takes 1-2hrs.

if you arent using wifi overnight, turn it off, youll get 1-5% drain overnight. and better yet, leave it on the charger overnight, youll start each day with 100%. it wont hurt your phone, and you wont have the battery drain. easy solution.

The whole point of doze is because people dont put their phone on their charger over night. Well most dont. Other then that the device is never really sitting on a flat surface for enough time for doze to kick in. Very few charge while they sleep. I am not sure why but you see it all the time.

Doze only works when it is sitting on a flat surface for a long time. Unless you sit at a desk all day that is not gonna happen during a normal everyday life.

I gotta agree with Simms; every one I can think of also charges their phone on the charger overnight..
Like Z said, "doze" means something to those who can lay their phone on a flat surface untouched during the day, but not sure how many folks can actually do that..
there you go, learned something new today. doze on a flat surface only :good:
so, it'll never be of any use to me
I've tried it as a test overnight, and it does make a difference, but, in real life use, its useless to me too..

this seems like a good spot for new development.
maybe make something to force doze all the time, and be able to white list apps and set time frames.

Under advanced WiFi settings, can you set it do WiFi is off when the screen is off?
I don't use wifi when I sleep, more so I switch to airplane mode every night, it's better to keep it that way by my head, since I use it as my alarm clock. I don't need cell either for the night we have a land line. So I keep both wifi and data on the whole time I'm awake, and with this I get 3 days battery time.
And I only charge it during evenings, never at nights beside my bed.

Not that much, I use it to receive all my work and private mail, I use Skype, and check Tapatalk when I'm not at my computer. My day job is by a computer for at least 8 hours, then I don't use my phone much. But I delete all unwanted mail, as it arrives.
Now it's on 71% with 1h10m of SOT, 8 minutes of Lara Croft, some Spider Solitaire, but it's undetectable in the list, and I used it for navigation when I tried to go around a traffic incident.

Always On Display top battery drainer - anyone else?

On my GS8 I always had AOD on and never saw it show up in battery but on the Note 8 not only does it show up but it is second only to Screen on time. This doesn't seem right at all. I checked in the About AOD and there's no option to update.
Anybody else with a Note 8 seeing something similar? I understand that AOD drains some battery but this seems to be draining way more than I expected. Hoping this is a bug of some type.
That's odd. Mine showed as 1%. Something definitely isn't right. Do you have the infinity wallpaper on it?

Someone has a solution??
I had de s8+ and I didn't have that issue
Same for me AOD is second only to screen on time. Going on mah used. 9 hrs of AOD was 240mah and 1 Hr SOT was about 240mah.
I've now turned off AOD to get he extra SOT. I now use the led for notifications which works perfectly without draining the battery.

Hoping a future update can fix this drain because I've noticed a considerable improvement to my battery life after turning off AOD. As of right now, it's not worth the juice. I have a wristwatch.
I have the same issue.
My AOD version is 2.8.42.32 and there is a newer version available on Apkmirror.
Couldn't install that version however.....

I've actually been considering turning AOD on because notification have been total crap for me on this phone. While on the charger, sometimes the light actually flashes and sometimes it just stays lit. Sometimes the phone makes a noise and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I'll turn on the screen and I'll get a rush of notifications that the phone didn't apparently pick up. I love the phone, but sometimes this makes me miss my Note 4.

Note 4 was the best note, removable battery was the best I really miss it
AOD continues to be the biggest battery hog so far. Nothing has changed.
try this
settings> display> "block accidental touches" and turn it on.
not sure if its on for you guys, but this will turn off AOD when in your pocket/purse/murse and reduce battery drain.
Yes, is on
That's not the issue, something happen with the AOD un the note 8, in my s8, everything was OK

Is there a reason why I haven't seen this update on my Note 8 and is this update meant for the S8 phones only? What's up with Samsung not pushing this to our devices yet and is it meant to address the battery drain on our Notes?

Mi Mix Screen went out

Hi everyone!
I've been using split screen feature quite often, but when I placed it under sun today with this memory consuming feature, it turned slow and after 5 minutes, the screen went out. Still can hear the rings and vibrations but LED isn't coming back.
Can someone please help me how I can work this around, any shortcuts or hardware DIYs?

Looking like it's shut it's self down to stop over heating, put it somewhere cold and hopefully it will come back to life, switch it off first. Did you mean LCD screen isn't coming on?

It's working now. I turned on the flashlight (by taking guesses on position of the icon) to drain the battery faster, then when the battery died, I charged it and it worked.
Thanks!

But why drain the battery. You can switch the phone off pressing the power button 10 to 15 sec.
