Hi, I've had my wizard for about 6 months, and I've used 3-4 different roms. The one I'm currently using is:
Rom 2.24.10.2
Extrom 2.25.11.102
It's from the summiter rom with the installer, I've been using it for about two weeks.
For some reason, once I switched to this rom, I've have really terrible life, and for some reason, whenever it's left alone, for a long period of time, it won't wake up from a sleep state. For example, last night I had charged it to 100%, used it for about a 10 minute conversation, then went to sleep and left it on my desk, right by my bed. This was at about 1am. When I woke up at 9am, it was asleep, flashing a red led, and wouldn't wake up. I had to remove the battery and put it back on to get it to reset. What's more, when I got it restarted it 1) Gave me the very low battery warning, as the battery was showing 4% and 2) Started to perform a backup, which means it screwed up before 4am, as that's when I have it set to backup.
Any ideas? I'm about to flash to a new rom I guess, but I'm getting tired of installing and reinstalling everything. I'm not using any new software, I'm using the same programs I've been running for months.
It just did it again

Use Sprite Backup - it will most probably able to restore your backup made under a different ROM version in Device Upgrade mode. Please see the Backup Bible ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1270&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ) for more info.
I have the same thing happening and I almost want to go back to my Treo. I love this phone but I need to figure out this problem. As far as I can tell, the screen back light goes off but the phone stays on. This kills the battery over night. A quick glance at the phone in passing and it *looks* like the screen is off, but it's not. I have checked all the settings and they say the phone should power off after 2 min. Sometimes it does, and somtimes it dosen't. Under the power settings I have it set to turn off device if not used for 2 minutes.
I'm on ROM 2.17.7.2 WWE if that helps anyone.

Yeah, I know it's possible, but I've also tried it before and had it lock my phone and I had to manually put it in bootloader and redo the ROM install. I'd rather not take a chance again.

Yeah, that's what it seems like, the screen will go off, but something is draining the battery really rapidly.
For me, it is only the back light going off. The screen is still on. Turn it at the right angle and you can see it is still on. A quick glance and it looks to be off. That is what kills the battery over night for me. I just can't stop it from happening.

You should be able to change that under the battery settings.
I tried that. Under advanced I have it set to turn off if not used for 2 min.
I think it may have something to do with Mortplayer. That is the one app I use almost daily that turns off the back light but keeps running.

Strange. My screen is going completely off, but the battery is going down like I've got Wifi and bluetooth on and I'm watching a movie.
Hello all,
I just got home from work, and to my surprise my NC wouldn't wake up, and pressing the power button did nothing. This was extra surprising since it was fully charged when I went to bed last night...
After plugging in the AC adaptor I got a message on the screen saying "Battery too low to power ON. Wait 15 minutes and try again". After about 10 minutes it powered on, and the battery widget said 12%.
Any thoughts on what the heck happened?? Up to this point, it's been working pretty much flawlessly, and only losing a few %s of battery each night.
BTW, it's a rooted 1.0.0 version.
My guess is that you had some process that was sucking up the CPU. I had this happen once with a turn by turn Navigator (obviously not your issue). Of course the power down killed the process and it did not happen again until days later.
What were you running last night? Did you install anything new?

Do you have a task killer installed? They can sometimes result in strange kill/restart scenarios.
Wallswitcher for me twice has had an error switching wallpapers, and when this happens it pops up a dialog informing me and then proceeds to sit there forever with the screen on. However, in this case I see around 4%/hr usage.
Maybe something similar happened, except with heavier CPU, higher backlight, etc.
I was playing around trying to see what still worked of the original B&N stuff after I rooted and I started the app that reads a book to kids. That app did not turn off when I killed the screen. It drained my battery fast. I don't know if this is just on my NC or others, but it's worth looking at. Check Nook Color Tools/Settings/Battery Use.

I need some sort of on screen notification or multicolored led and the ambient display is not working correctly ( I think I may have covered the sensor with my glass screen protector) so good old trusty NoLED works great just want to let you guys know...

Does the nexus 6 not have a standard notification LED?
There's an LED behind the top speaker grille according to people on reddit. Can't confirm yet, my Nexus 6 arrives on Friday (before 8p per FedEx)
Yes there are reports of a led behind the speaker but until someone hacks it NoLED is perfect for me... Just have to keep track of battery to make sure its not draining it too much

the LED behind the speaker works fine with the full version of Lightflow. there is a thread in general with the instructions for setup. No blinking yet.
LightFlow
If you are rooted and have install light flow it works flawlessly. Its actually really bright even though its behind a grill.

Hmm.. Mine shows a battery charge notification dancing around with the other NoLed icons on the screen. Starts at 100% & then starts down.... 97, 95, then starts back back up to 100% and keeps Cylcling this way. Doesn't shut off by itself.

So yours counts down till fully charged? Mine will show the charging % but goes up until it hits 100. I have it set to stop showing charging percent once it hits 100%. However, the whole thing turns off when it hits 100 instead. Its really odd.

Well I guess you could just set it to not shut off at 100 percent.. Your phone will still be on the charger so its not going to drain your battery

I can try that and see if that works. Only thing is, in that setting, it's only supposed to stop showing the charge %, not all indications including time.

After decryption the behavior seems to have changed slightly. Found that a battery Monitor app that turns on screen at 100% charge was causing NoLed to stop. Another app that supposedly helps battery life was turning off accessibility for NoLed, Pie, & a couple of others. Something I will need to sort out in the coming weeks.
What is the bigger battery drain, Light Flow or Ambient Display? With Light Flow the light stays on CONSTANTLY if you only have one notification. It doesn't blink it just stays on. With Ambient Display it pulses on and off. If Light Flow actually gave us the ability to set a flash rate of the lights it would be awesome.
What do you think, which is a greater drain on the battery, a flashing screen or a solid light?
Yes the nexus 6 does have a led under the speaker grill. You just need to be rooted and light flow pro I get all my notification that way

Unfortunately, you misread his question.
Hi,
I realized that with the Always on Display and with the setting for Edge only, I still see the stars in the background (using the default wallpaper). Doesn't this mean that even more battery is being used than with the standard full screen Always on Display? Isn't it supposed to only use certain LED's on the screen to conserve battery? If so, is it not possible to have the Edge setting on and save battery by disabling the background?
You could try not using one of the built in live wallpapers, that's where the stars come from.
Hope this helps.

About 3% to 5% in my experience.
You can turn on AOD feature, but when you put the phone on the desk for a long time without touching it, just put a small piece of paper (sticky paper) over the top of the screen (above the proximity sensor).
That way the AOD screen will be turned off in a couple of seconds.
When you need to check time or notifications, just lift up the sticky paper and the AOD will come back on.
You can save several % of battery using this way.

That, or face down
Weird. Mines on with a custom picture ( I converted to grey scale ) and unplugged overnight i only lose about 3-5% total. I haven't tested without AOD but it can't be using more than 2-3% tops as I'm sure the system is using up most of the battery while I sleep.

I have a custom AOD and battery life is fine. Its good to glance and see the time without having to pick it up and unlocking.
If your worried turn it off or flip the phone face down. With quick charge on the phone does it really matter?
I upgraded to a Pixel 5 because my Pixel 2 XL was experiencing hardware issues and was going to die. Among them were battery degradation that was leaving me with maybe 3 hours screen on time from a full battery.
The Pixel 5 so far has been barely better. Additionally I went to bed last night with about 79 percent battery, I woke up around 48 percent. I have no idea what's going on but this is fresh out of the box, I got it Thursday like everyone else in the USA. Is this normal? Can anyone suggest how to figure out what's causing this drain?

I did do the setup where you transfer data from your old device. I guess maybe I need to bite the bullet and do it fresh.
Do you know anything about the... I think the setting is called Always On Display or something like that. The setting where when the phone is locked and the screen is off, it always displays the time and notification icons. I had it on my Pixel 2 and it worked great, it's almost necessary for me at this point. I have it turned on also on the 5, but it seems...finicky? At times it shuts off, especially at night. I used to keep my Pixel2 on my nightstand (just laying flat, not on a stand or anything) and the time would be on all night so I could see it at night if I woke up. With the 5 it seems to shut off in the dark. Additionally periodically during the day it sometimes all of sudden jumps to really high brightness, then back down to dim, sometimes it turns off completely and I have to hit the power button or the fingerprint reader to unlock the phone. Even doing the tap to wake doesn't work. Actually that double tap to wake doesn't seem to work at all regardless.
Any info on any of those issues you know about? I've been searching around and I've found basic references to some stuff with that always on display but no direct threads or anything specific.

Not too sure about AOD, I just went with defaults. But last night, my first with the P5, I unplugged at full charge and 7 + hours later it was at 100%. That's never happened but it was face down and on DND. Nonetheless, check out this thread, download the app, non root needs certain permissions, and let it run for a day or so. It should show you what you need to know.

Did you make sure to charge the phone to 100% before using it??? These lithium ion batteries need to be charged to the max if you want them to last. My pixel 5 wasn't even fully charged it was somewhere around 65% out of the box. I would leave it charging for a half hour or so once it hits 100% just to be sure.

Real world battery is best.
I'm seeing great battery life like many others.
I started using AccuBattery Pro. How accurate is the estimated capacity given by the app? Anyone have any experience?
For me the app is estimating battery capacity to be 4,490mAh which is obviously way above the advertised capacity.
Coming from a worn out pixel 2xl this 5 is fabulous the battery is great. I accidentally left the flashlight on for an hour and it barely drained it. The battery is exceeding my expectations. Screen on time at 5 hours and I'm just at 49% with 10 hours remaining. I'm satisfied for sure
Also on Verizon, but no issues for me. Battery life has been amazing, I didn't charge last night (unintentional) and I was going until this afternoon, with mostly light usage. I've never experienced something like that before.
So in case anyone is interested in this, I actually have a hardware defect that was discovered by a user on reddit.
Link Here
The gist is that the proximity sensor is (i think) detecting that something is up against it all the time. This creates issues with things such as the phone screen not turning on when you pull the phone away from your ear when on a phone call, Issues with tap to wake and lift to wake not working, and Ambient display/always on display (whatever it's called now) constantly changing brightness and/or shutting the display off completely. Literally the phone could be sitting there on the table and all of a sudden the always on display goes to max brightness, then down to dim, then up, then shut off completely. I assume all this craziness is hitting the battery hard.
I am trying (although frustratingly) to get Verizon to exchange it for a new phone. My phone acts exactly like in that thread. There's a proximity sensor app that will detect when something is near it and change color. Mine is solid colored and won't change unless you press on the glass near the sensor. Just in case anyone else has this issue come up, there it is.
I'm at 5 hours of screen on time and 17 hours use. The battery is exceptional and I can dedicate more time to work online because of it.
It sounds like you have ported a troublesome app over from your old phone to be honest. I think a factory reset would fix it.
