Hi guys, I have a friend who bought used galaxy s, the phone was rooted but it was lagging a lot and we tried to flash new Rom, but we couldn't because when we tried to go to cwm recovery it fails, and when we decided to use (volume down + home + power) buttons the menu we got didn't have "instal" from sd card option, so we decided to unroot it, we used super user to unroot, so we wanted to root it again but the phone doesn't go to "download mode"! Any HELP WE WILL REALLY BE THANKFUL!

Which Rom was in it previously and which Rom did you try to flash?
More information would be useful....
Take out battery for at least 1 minute put back in and try to go into Download mode with 3 button combo
Gingerbread 3.1.6, and we tried doing that but it doesn't go into download mode! It just go straight to cwm and the menu doesn't have the "install from sd card" or "update zip"

have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30415128&postcount=1
Most likely because you are still on stock recovery. Read the stickies again.

My legend is on rooted 2.2 , I have set cpu and rom manager installed ...i wanted to overclock so I have download the version 3.5 from a guide posted under this section. Ive run into problem with rom manager. I've downloaded clock work recovery mod after installing the latest version of rom. When I try to instal the kernel , after out shows the pre installation menu, I check backup rom and uncheck wipe data and cache and then its supposed to boot into the recovery menu but out doesn't and shows the screen with the red exclamation mark and nothing else happens. How must I proceed here ?

This will sound rude, but the solution is to not overclock. You lack experience and knowledge. Lurk around the forums for at least a few weeks, then you may be ready to try again.

If you've decided to go further, at the triangle with exclamation mark, press (and keep pressed) vol-up then press power till a blue menu appear. Select the second option (the one containing "flash update.zip from sdcard") and you'll end at a green menu. That's CWM recovery 2.5.x...if it is an orange/yellow one it's CWM 3. You can flash a rom or kernel from there using "flash zip from sdcard" option.
Tip: Next time you can better use search, this question has been answered already several times by now in various threads...

This is the correct version of kernel I must flash , right ? What about the 4.0 version ?

Hello !
I have a big problem. I tried installing clockworkmod recovery. I'm standing at Rom manager. I dont know what I clickking. One time 1 click to reboot to recovery and I have a black screen.
I'm rooted a phone, and i downloaded rom manager from filecrop, i think non-trusted.
You shouldn't use ROM manager. If you can get into the downloading mod, flash through Odin. If not, you may have to go get your phone repaired.

Riff j-tag or omnia repair tool will help you (((

You should have read previous posts here before you even tried to use rom manager. A lot of cases already where rom manager bricked their phone. If you can still boot it in download mode, better flash a stock rom thru odin and cwm thru odin as well.. then you can install custom roms..

Thanks every1 for quick reply.
It's my friend's phone. I tried to use CTBeastDroid?'s guide. I copied a file from Dreaming-rc29 and I tried a Power + Home combo it didn't work. Can I do ? Please tell me step by step. I never use SGM. I'm formatted external sdcard by my Captivate(phone, it use for sdcard reader). I had a black screen. And my friend's phone didn't do nothing.

hi the xda developers
i have a question. i want to root my htc one uk version but i dont want a custom rom i want to keep the original one but also will it wipe my phone as i wonna keep my data apps ect..? if so could you give me a noob prove easy stap by step guide ?
thanks :good:
If you follow this guide, you'll be fine.
Unlocking the bootloader will wipe your data though and you'll also lose some stock apps. You can get the stock apps back from the HTC One missing APKs folder here - http://d-h.st/users/KidCarter93
Please search in future though

oh sorry mate lol but one quick question do i have to do step 4 after ive done step 1-3 because i dont want custom rom just want it rooted
No, you won't need to. Just go to the end of step 3 and you're good to go. That's as far as I took mine aswell because I'm not interested in ROMs which are just stock with a few extra features.
I rooted just so I can have access to certain apps which need root permission and so that I'm ready to flash ROMs once more come along which aren't stock based

It's up to you, because they all do the same job, but I recommend TWRP because it looks better and has a nice feel to it, in my opinion.

Yes that was stated by kidcarter93 above. It's also stated in the op of the other thread. Unlocking the bootloader wipes your phone. If you are lucky enough to have automatic back up and restore turned on (it's on by default) u needn't worry as your stuff should reappear again in a while.

Flash a recovery in fastboot, use the USB cable the one was shipped with.
After that, in fastboot, choose recovery and confirm with power button.
Boot into recovery, do a backup of your stock ROM, then choose reboot.
If possible use CWM, TWRP may cause problems.
When you are booted up, copy the root tools to your sd card via your computer, go back to recovery (power down, wait a few secs, then press Power and Vol- at the same time and hold for several seconds...this brings you back to hboot/fastboit screen where you can select recovery again)
In recovery, select the root.zips and flash them...boot back and your stock ROM is rooted.
The first back up of your stock ROM (nandroid) keep it safe as a copy on your computer

oops i didnt back up my stock recovery and now i need one because most of my important apps are not root supported
and i want to go back to stock my CID is [HTC-001]
I'm sure you guys get this alot, but unfortunately i have no idea what I did to my phone. I got my HTC one for Sprint in the mail today and already It's not responding. I unlocked it, and rooted it. Tried out a couple of ROM's, it was great until one gave me a problem. Then I tried to Restore a backup and bam now i can't even boot up. What do I do? Is my only option to Unroot/Relock. I'm sorry if this has been asked already or there is a different section I should post in, like I said I'm new to all this fun.
Thank you,
-Connor
Can you get in to the recovery screen? (turn back on while holding video volume down and power) if you can download a rom on you computer and you should be able to put it on your phones storage. Then reflash that rom.

Yeah I can still get into recovery and everything, except when i wipe everything and install a ROM it still wont get boot properly, its almost as if i didn't have a set up app and thats causing it to not even boot up. I am trying a new ROM at the moment, otherwise I'm out of ideas.

Use Hasoon2000s All in One toolkit for the HTC One along with the ADB Sideload functionality under advanced in TWRP to flash a new ROM to your Sprint HTC One.
