Nexus 7 pre-orders are now arriving by Fedex.
Mine arrived today (19th) in Sydney ordered on the 29th June. (16 gig model). Some received theirs on the 18th.
Plugged it in to charge up. (arrived with 40% charge)
After about 5 minutes the first OTA upgrade arrived.(JRO03D)
First thing I notice is that a lot of my apps don't appear in the Play Store. I'm guessing they're not JB compatible. (update - I have sent a few from my phone to the nexus 7 via Dropbox and they install and work)
2nd. Did it already know my username? I don't remember typing it.
3rd. Google now gives me weather in Fahrenheit. (okay the settings are a 3 dot menu bottom right to change this and other settings.

Mine is sitting in Sydney overnight and will hopefully head down to Canberra tomorrow.
I think there was an option to link the device to your Google account before checkout. Im guessing that's why it knows your usernames.

When you guys ordered then you probably left the default option of linking it to your Play account as ticked.
Mine looks like this at the moment http://d.pr/i/J9Hl What are the chances that it turns up here in Melbourne by tomorrow even though it estimates Monday? D:
My 16gb shipped on the 17th, it is estimated to arrive by the 25th. I live in Newcastle... Contemplating emailing for a refund on the 2 day shipping, anyone had success?
Ordered on the 29th, didn't ship until yesterday, and it's take 18 hours today to get from one side of Hong Kong to the other, and is scheduled for Monday arrival.
What was that about 2 day shipping?
Decided to buy one today on a whim, will be getting it tomorrow arvo. so stoked! woop :highfive:
Picked mine up from the FedEx depot this afternoon. Now unlocked, rooted and ready to play! This thing is awesome!!!

mine came a day earlier, which was pretty good.
but yeah, a lot of apps not jelly bean compatible yet.
if you ticked the option to link it to your account when you bought it, then it will know your user details.
ps, did english australia automatically pop up? im stuck on english uk.
Got mine yesterday (18th) and yeah its awesome! The keyboard and voice recognition is a big step up.
I am really impressed with the responsiveness of the screen and it looks great too.
Having fun playing with XBMC (Xbox media centre).
It scored slightly lower on Quadrant Standard than my HTC One X, but that was expected.
Now to root and ROM it!
I know the purpose of this thread is not so much delivery times as Australia Specific stuff, this refund question is probably Australia specific enough to count as your 2 day was changed to 3-5 day.

I am guessing I was one of the first non-IO Australians to have the Nexus 7 with mine arriving ( albeit broken :/ ) yesterday. Now waiting for a reply from Google in how to proceed with RMA! Fun times
What a waste?!
I have just got my nexus 7 yesterday, but there were some problems shown up today, okay here is my case, I found a black line across my Nexus
7 screen around lunch time today, then I called ASUS as maintained within warranty booklet, but they told me to call google play instead. and as
always, I called google play from about 2 PM and wait on line until 5PM, it is totally surprised me!there is no-one answer, seems like everyone just
as bored as I do, to wait on the Fkin line and waste my whole Fkin afternoon!
Got mine (16 GB) this morning. Enjoying it so far.

You should be able to arrange an RMA through the contact section rather than phoning Sydney to wait on hold. Right now the people there are overworked dealing with people's orders, the time should drop as we move on, however ask for an RMA, they will ship you a new one, you then return the old one.
Apparently.
So far so good! Tried to download the free Transformers movie, and it just left me with less than a GB on my 8GB, the movie is about 3GB in size. Is there a way to transfer the file to an external Hard drive? Planning to stream it from the hard drive

I hope not. Its only a guess but it seems that the UK Play Store has been receiving shipments around every 3 weeks or so. Nov 13 = Launch, Dec 4th = Launch 2, Dec 20th = Mass shipping emails go out to huge number of people on XDA UK Thread with guys taking delivery starting the following day 21/12 through to [on mass] 24/12.
For now, it seems that rather than taking delivery of stock and just putting up for sale on Play Store and shipping out to first orders - google took the 3rd delivery and held back to ship outstanding orders like they SHOULD have done with the 2nd batch.
I say again this is just my guess - as like everybody else I have nothing but an opinion.
Thread closed. Please don't create more shipping/stocking threads as there are plenty you can already use.
Thanks

2 weeks ish. The thing that worries me is last year the N4 went on sale in the US and Canadian Playstore at the same time. This year, with the new Nexus 7, I believe we had to wait a few weeks to grab it from there. Here's hoping the N5 doesn't do the same =[. With the original Nexus 7, did we have to wait as well? Anyone remember?

What about ordering from the american play site and getting it shipped to a mailbox just at the border. (I live around Vancouver, BC)
I'm hoping it goes on sale in Canada and the U.S. at the same time. I haven't had much luck finding out much for carrier release dates though. In Canada, I use Rogers (AT&T) and in the U.S., I use T-Mobile. For the most part, their networks are fairly compatible. Happy Thanksgiving, Canadians, happy Columbus Day Americans!

Yeah! I prefer to get mine in-store as I get to enjoy it right away. That whole camera sticking out I really want to see as well. The inconsistent reports of the removeable battery is yet another thing I need to figure out. I like to have apare fully charged battery on me when travelling.

Can't help since I got the 32GB but shipping was $17. Set to leave the 5th. Taxes depends on your province I'm sure.
I've searched but I didn't found any thread for the portuguese market.
So, I think that we needed this place to talk about the long waited Nexus 5.
Last year was very to us to get the Nexus 4 (at least at a fair price). Due to the stock crash only in January or February it was available at the main stores like Fnac or MediaMarkt but priced over 550€.
I hope that this year we could have it a lot earlier. Last year Google released some of his services in our country, like books or music. I hope (ok, I haven't that much hope...) they carry on launching their services so that we could have Play Devices but it is unlikely.
Lets see what comes and which retailers would sold it. And we'll alwways have services like forward2me and, my favorite, friends all over Europe

I approve of this post. I've also looked around the Nexus 5 forum and only found a way that involves using Tor and setting up a fake Google account, then buying from the UK, sending to a UK address and having the phone re-shipped to Portugal. This is way too much of a hassle for me and I can't say I fully trust it to work or be particularly cheap.
If anyone knows of a reputable online retailer that stocks the Nexus 5 and ships to Portugal, can you give us a heads up please? Or if you come up with an easier way of getting this candy into our hands?
Handtec has it on pre-sale with delivery expected arround November 11th. It's a litle pricey, it'sm about 359£ to the 16GB and about 401£ to the 32GB version. I'm not sure if we must add shipment dosts to Portugal but if so I don't that is over 10€.
I've read on another forum that forward2me has a special to this device that theeirselves bought the device and just ship it to you but needs to check this.
Thanks, ToneJeco. I'll check out those options. It's a bit of a markup compared to the £299 on Google Play or £295 at Carphone Warehouse, but who knows?

Personally, I'm going to try one of the The Phone House stores (The Phone House = Carphone Warehouse in Portugal, and other countries) and see if they could get a Nexus 5 in. Somehow.
I might do that as well. Did it in Media Markt already (they'll warn me if and when they get the Nexus 5), as they previously had the Nexus 4 for some time.

I'm a litle afraid of Fanc's prices since last year they sold Nexus 4 @ 600€ but things may be diferent if LG make it official. I hope so since they seem to be trying hard to push their image and get their space in the smartphone's market with G2. A Nexus device is always a good way to increase that recognition.
I almost bought N5 this weekend but I believe is better to chill a bit and wait, I really have no hurge so I'll wait to see how the things evolve and how will be the availability here in Portugal. But that price from carphone is very tempting

Nope, you got the same problem. LG wanted to charge 600 for the N4. They'll probably do the same for the N5. So, even if it's an official release, we'll have it for 600€ over at FNAC.

Problem is, it isn't that easy to get CPW to send you anything to Portugal, even through a UK forwarding address. Firstly, because you need a credit or debit card associated to an UK billing address (I don't think you can do that with MBNet) and secondly, you need a real UK mobile phone number, something that services like Forward2me do not provide.
And I highly doubt FNAC Portugal will have the Nexus 5 in the coming week as a representative stated at FNAC's facebook page. Right now, the availability of the Nexus 5 in B&M stores isn't a reality with CPW being one of the very few exceptions so it's highly unlikely they'll have it in stock this week. But let's see what happens.
Lg has several country wide launches scheduled for this week, so I don't thing that's so unlikely

Hi everyone.
If I buy a Nexus 5 in the UK to use in Portugal (I have a friend in London that can buy it) will all radios work correctly in Portugal? I know GSM is the same in all Europe but what about 3G LTE. Can anyone confirm or tell me how I can check it?
