Hi guys,
i flashed my japanese version of XZ (SO-02E) with UK unbranded stock Firmware (C6603) 10.1.A.1.350
After flashing it, everything seems to work fine, except the NFC doesnt seem to work.
When i try to check the checkbox to enable NFC, it just unchecks itself.

Its the same problem as many ppl had after rooting.
I solved it, credit to goroh_kun, by deleting a folder called /data/usf, but you have to be rooted to do that.
SO-02E has different NFC hardware than the other hardware versions.
SO-02E NFC-A SE is SIM-card based. Only the Felica SE is on the phone.

it no longer vibrate?
@evildave, thanks, is there no way to get it to work then.
@zippo, yes it still does vibrate, only NFC is broken.
Might be possible with a custom kernel compiled off the SO-02E sources, but working NFC/Felica is probably not in the cards using a stock rom from one of the other hardware variants.

i just fixed mine try this http://blog.huhka.com/2013/03/root-xperia-z-so-02e-rootingkit.html
I bought international back cover with built in NFC. I think that should solve the problem or not.
well when I get it and try it out I'll post back.
Same problem with my Xperia ZR C5502. NFC unchecks immediately. I had custom ROMs installed and rooted my phone earlier, but now it is on Sony Xperia's stock firmware.
Xperia service test - NFC Diag Test says "The NFC device cannot be used". Reseting, downgrading to older android version, safe mode, renaming data/usf folder, none worked. What could be the problem?

I just have a quick question about the firmware on my SP (C5302, Bought through Cincinnati Bell and it is carrier locked). I keep seeing things on here about the latest firmware for root and roms etc, so I check mine and its still on 12.0.A.1.257. I have checked via ota and pc companion and it says I am up to date. I have heard the later firmware fixed the weak wifi signal and a few other things. Am I able to use the new firmware or am I stuck on the older one?
If i am able to use the latest firmware what would be the best way to switch to it?.
Thanks in advance

I am using an Xperia Z1 (C6903) and have been using NFC up until recently when it stopped working. I am able to enable/disable NFC however the status bar icon dose not display like it used to.
Under the "service menu -> NFC Diag Test" it states that "Swp... No NFC SIM Detected - Failed" and it says tag reading enabled however nothing happens when used with NFC tags. The phone is not rooted and is running the stock Sony Android 4.4.4 Build 14.4.1.0.108.
I have used Sony's PC Companion to "repair" the phone and reset it to factory settings however it did nothing, any help would be much appreciated.
i get the same message in the NFC Diag Test : try using the NFC tag from sony or any tag for that matter and see if you get this also make sure you turn NFC ON and airplane mode off .

I tried this and it says tag reading enabled however nothing happens when placed on an NFC tag. The hardware of driver does not seem to be working correctly.
I have flashed my device with an older 4.2.2 firmware build #: 14.1.G.2.257 using Flashtool.
On startup, a dialogue box displayed a message about updating NFC firmware.
I tried reading an NFC tag on this firmware and it is still not working. It could be a hardware issue if it is still not working after being flashed.

Hey guys.
So I recently (few days ago) bought my Xperia SP (5302) EU-Global Version. I've updated it to the last 12.1.A.1.207 stock build and I wanted to root I but I noticed something strange that happen 2-3 times and I wanna ask if it's something common for the model or should I return it for a repair before I root the phone.
So basically what's happening is, when the phone is under load in very rear cases (3 times in 7-8 days) the screen will start dimming but not like when you power it off. It will start getting darker, the app icons will get almost black and after it finishes loading the task everything returns it's original color again. It basically shifts it's color tone to some really dark tone, like when you're adding some effect to a picture. Sorry, English is not my native language so I can't explain it better but if you have experienced it you, would'll know what I'm talking about.
So basically this is the question: Is this something common for the Xperia SP and I can safely root the phone, or it's just my phone and I must send it for a repair/replacement.
Thanks in advance!
You could try to reset it with Flashtool. It seems like a hardware issue but the reflash it to rule software out..

Another question.
When I bought my phone it boot up in Chinese or Japanese (not really sure) and then it had alot of apps with Japanese or Chinese characters that I disabled and I'm not really sure if that's the Global version of the software. So if I reinstall the stock ROM and I have to return it for a repair they may notice that the ROM is not the same as the one that was shipped with. Do you guys have the same apps on the Global version?
Here are the apps

Then you have to use Flashtool (see my thread in General) to flash a ftf file that does not come with that bloatware

it's not a hardware issue...it's a common bug on .205, .207

Have you try to clear its cache?
Yupe , i tried, nothing, it didn't help. Today i switched to CM11 but i don't like it very much, i will probably switch back to stock and see if problem still persist.
btw a bunch of apps is not working properly or not working at all in my country, even paid apps on play store are not available it is horrible, could it be same thing with album app?

If you are switching back to Stock ROM then flash stock .207 ftf file..It will be better option and there is no problem in generic .207 ftf file.I am already using it.
here is the link for thread:

Why is it better option? Is there any changelog? On support page it says 12.1.A.1.205 is the latest and final version.
I've just flashed my XZ1C to the newest Customized UK firmware with US OEM.sin (for fingerprint sensor) without flashing /data.
Everything is OK until I go to the settings APP...

I don't know it's caused by the newest firmware it self or it's because I didn't flash /data ?.
Any ideas about it?

Factory reset might fix it, but most likely a complete reflash, wiping data. This has been reported before on the thread, happens when you try to mix-and-match firmwares.
The following won't be news to people more experienced than I, but I managed at one point to get my phone into what I presume is a bootloop. Waiting for the right moment, and then connecting it in flash mode to the computer allowed me to use Xperia Companion to reinstall the current firmware correctly. I'm glad that Sony provides this functionality in its PC/Mac software. Perhaps in first backing up just what you need through Xperia Companion, then doing a software repair (reset/flash), and then restoring your (minimal) data would do the trick. I know how annoying these little anomalies can be, I had the weird experience of having GBoard reinstall itself on every reboot until I "fixed" the installation as I outlined above. Good luck!

Thanks for reply!
I'll try to do factory reset the phone. But I'm still wondering why this will cause the Settings APP to work like this ?
I had the problem when i first flashed the german 8.49. I had the same weird menus and txt because i had the origianl us oem. i reflashed w/ complete custom de (I don't have tmobile) and everything is back to normal. Also, I got the ota update to the current version. I assumed the problems were because the us oem was outdated, but maybe not.
