Just flash philz kernel in stock recovery, which gives you: root + CWM recovery + safe kernel (to avoid brick bug). I would recommend you read Dr. Ketan's thread a few time to get used to Samsung devices.

(q) stock isc with speedmod kernel

Hi.. i'we done odin flash on my N7000 form GB to ISC xxlq3 (slo) and than i flashed speedmod kernel over it..
but i didn't root it before.. because on the official speedmode page doesn't say it needs to be rooted before
can I safely downgrade with dr.ketan tut??? or can i flash chainfire's CF-Root-SGN_XX_SEB_LQ3-v5.6-CWM5 over speedmod
and yes i also have 0x19 bug
help needed :good:
thank you
If you have flashed speedmod via PC Odin, means your phone is already rooted. It comes with speedmod. You should see Superuser app on your app drawer. No worries for now. Next step, you might like to search for 'yellow triangle'.
Take it easy. One step at a time, otherwise you will be overwhelmed.
PS: I did my rooting the same way as you did, with GB at that time. It was my first custom flashing business
Don't worry !! You can use the root validator to check for root. If things are good you can start you flashing sessions. Else you can use Dr.Ketan's rooting for ICS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26455511&postcount=2475. Just a simple process. Cherios. :good:

thats the problem i don't see it .. should i try to flash it over again ??? ..
and by the way official post says :
[KERNEL] SpeedMod N7000 ICS [K3-7 CWM CIFS ROOT / NO-ROOT]
also when i boot in recovery in main menu look like samsung recovery and when i enter some of the menus the CWM logo appears
hope its not bricked
Just follow dr.ketan's guide in the link above. Could be your speedmod flashing was unsuccessful. Can you check again in Settings -> About phone -> Kernel version?
hope this is last question

kernel version is ok it says "speedmod,blah.blah.."
1. for dr.ketan guide should i start from scratch or just the rooting part???
2. I've tried after speedmod kern, to re flash just the cwm but it hangs on the install???? haven't try the cwm.zip from dr.ketan??? should I???
sorry i'm noob
For your LQ3, you should follow dr.ketan's guide. Possibly due to low memory in system partition in LQ3, the new files for rooting (busybox, superuser, su binary) could not be injected. Start afresh, learn something new. Everybody was once a noob before

[Q] how to install CWM on ace 2.2.1 stock rooted plz help very urgent

hi all
can any1 tell me how to install recovery on ace 2.2.1 rooted device?
searched a lot but cudnt find?
any link or instructions wud be helpful
thanks.
You need to be on gingerbread to flash CWM 4/5(I recommend CWM 5 for no errors during flashing)
Download the latest gingerbread firmware for your Phone and flash through Odin and after that you can put CWM recovery onto your Ace.
Otherwise the Best solution is to flash Custom ROMs.
But you will need to be on Gingerbread to flash Most of the released Custom ROMs so better flash a gingerbread stock ROM through Odin and then you are good to go.
You can flash CWM v4 on Odin if you're on Froyo

That is for GT-S5830C/i/M. Is no the same than: s5830/L/B
Get CF-Root adpation for Froyo, CWM 4 and Root.
Look in the all roms tweaks and kernels in the dev section

basic Kernel question

I am extracting this specific question from my other thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855867&referrerid=1918103
1. how can I tell exactly what kernel I am running? does any part of the code "-N7000XXKK9-CL725676 [email protected]#2"
translate into one of the kernel names that is being tossed about here? (speedmod, abyss et al)
2. and wanting to follow flashing instructions (from 2.36 to stock current ics) to a "t", can I flash any recommended kernel over the one I currently have (see above, which is also no longer stock since I already flashed that but forgot its moniker, btw rooted phone) or is there a one-way caveat?
voila, dumb questions I suppose but at least I hope they're precise;
thx

Go to phone setting, about phone, and then you will see kernel version, the last three letters is the kernel your device is running. For example if it is ics kernel lq3 then it is compatible with cf root 5.6 lq3, if you want to root your phone with CWM recovery. For ics you can use custom kernel regardless what version of kernel it is, meaning it is compatible to any kernel version if it is a custom kernel, by flasing a custom kernel using the pc odin you will root your phone and get CWM recovery also at the same time safe from so called ICS SUPER BRICK BUG.

thanks.
could you address my question if the kernel KK9 (shich appears on my settings readout) translates to any of the known kernels ie abyss, speedmod or other?
can I keep this very kernel (N7000XXKK9-CL725676 [email protected]#2) and flash a custom ICS via CVM recovery?

KK9 is a gb rom and has a stock gb kernel. Abyss is a gb custom kernel. Speedmod is a custom kernel also. To get a custom kernel must flash first in pc odin.
To root and get CWM recovery read this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
Yes you can flash custom ics rom over it using the CWM recovery, pls read the op in the custom rom for the procedure before flashing any custom rom. By flashing a custom ics rom you will get ics kernel, you will not retain the kk9 which is a gb kernel.
