IBM XT is the best choice -
XT
Main article: IBM Personal Computer XT
The "IBM Personal Computer XT", IBM's model 5160, was an enhanced machine that was designed for diskette and hard drive storage, introduced two years after the introduction of the "IBM Personal Computer". It had eight expansion slots and a 10 MB hard disk (later versions 20 MB). Unlike the model 5150 PC, the model 5160 XT no longer had a cassette jack, but still contained the Cassette Basic interpreter in ROMs. The XT could take 256 kB of memory on the main board (using 64 kbit DRAM); later models were expandable to 640 kB. (The BIOS ROM and adapter ROM and RAM space, including video RAM space [since the video hardware was always an adapter] filled the remaining 384 kB of the one megabyte address space of the 8088 CPU.) It was usually sold with a Monochrome Display Adapter (MDA) video card.[citation needed] The processor was a 4.77 MHz Intel 8088 and the expansion bus 8-bit XT bus architecture (later called 8-bit Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) by IBM's competitors). The XT's expansion slots were placed closer together[27] than with the original PC;[28] this rendered the XT's case and mainboard incompatible with the model 5150's case and mainboard. The slots themselves and the peripheral cards however were compatible, unless a rare card designed for the PC happened to use the extra width of the 5150's slots, in which case the card might require two slots in the XT. The XT's expansion slot mechanical design, including the slot spacing and the design of the case openings and expansion card retaining screws, was identical to the design that was later used in the IBM PC AT and is still used as of 2011, though (since the phase-out of ISA slots) with different actual slot connectors and bus standards.
Make sure your new PC also comes with a search button since your current one does not appear to have one.
I also suggest purchasing an extended warranty that includes ID:10T and PEBKAC protection.
As stated earlier in this thread please ask your question in this forum. Thanks

Rumour has it - there is a hack available to turn the iPodTouch into an unlocked iPhone!
What the hackers fail to see is that an iPod will never make a very good phone. Anyway Palm has countered these claims stating that touch is a Palm thing and it makes good sense ; -)
I know I'm a n00b, but what the hell is the relevance of this in a WM6 forum for the Hermes?
Thread moved to off-topic. In the future, please post in the appropriate forums.
Thanks.
Lol. There's a rumour that the iPod can be turned into a phone?
Well well. So they didn't have the space and hardware to build in a 3g radio in the phone, but they threw in a whole phone just for free in the ipod? That's jolly decent of them.
Unlocked too, that's just the icing on the cake. Apple is too kind.

Possibly they would hack my Wizard so it could run WinXp with multi-touch feature.. and fire laser as well?
I think that video has something to do with this thread

I just saw the Youtube video on this. All I have to say is....
ARE YOU KIDDING???
Who could possibly be stupid enough to think that just by inserting a spring in the bottom of an ipod would magically give it the hardware and software capabilities to dial a phone number?
Hey, do you think that if I insert the spring in the bottom of my laser printer I could turn it into a 60 inch LCD with High Definition and HD DVD Player?
I swear!!! This kind of logic is taken straight out of ET The Extraterrestrial. Just clamping things together that all of the sudden, bam! A whole bunch of kitchenware tuned into an intergalacting transmitter.

WAHAHAHAHAHA!! LOL!!!
frickin laser beams... haha!
even if it's cheaper to produce 1 type of pcb and have software take care of the various models i seriously doubt apple would make ipodtouch with all the phone components inside too
heck they might use the same pcb but there is no reason they would have the smt machines add the components for the mobile which would never be used

While this guy tend to make his video as 'good' as possible with all the crap about the wire poking thing and recorded dialing tone crap.. he missed the point of where do I insert the phone SIM card. I bet there would be some stupid guy who will tell you that, you can insert a SIM card into the (say) SD card reader and poke here and there to make a phone call Example of such moron ideas --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=779184&postcount=2
Do you think it`s possible the next Diamond come with card slot ? Or bigger Ram ? Or nothing ?
the "next" diamond is no diamond
its a completely different toy.
For me now is Diamond or not Diamond - That`s the question.
The Touch pro is to much expensive for me. And I Think I don`t need the tastatur.

I personally dont need keyboard at all..
p.s. look at the size of pro!! OMG!
well...Pro has some other good features like
- TV-out (cable not included)
- microSD (TransFlash)
- Standard battery, Li-Ion 1340 mAh
- 288 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
- flash
i think i can miss these other things...
Photos can trick you, Pro is not big, it is just fatter (and for various GOOD reasons) than Diamond which is one of the thinnest PDA ever (again for a reason: call me, limitations).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420739
(my post is on last page btw)
i know it's just thicker...about 8mm
Only thing i really miss is TV-Out....
but i think guy's will make one rom that will support that too.
i hope so
WhiteCell you don't "miss" things you never had.
Bigger RAM, flash, microSD, real battery (to name some), are not things "ah I don't miss", they are just what they should be (and Diamond lacks).
One single reason that someone should choose a Diamond is that is thinner and size is #1 priority.
Please name me a single additional reason (like there is).
"but i think guy's will make one rom that will support that too."
i doubt it's a software thing

On expansys:
Diamond 474€
Touch Pro 654€, microSD card & tv-out cable not included
But even at the same price I'd pick the diamond over the pro
...because?
As for the price difference, expect it to change (as Diamond's price changed). When you talk about a hi-end PDA, you expect a hi-end price, and 654 is not even hi-end price, it is about the same price I got my LOOX720 years ago and about the same price I remember all serious WM cost over the years.
I agree with you , you just asked another reason and the price difference is one at the moment.
Personnally, I chose the size over the keyboard/memory/card, but of course it depends of the user's needs
ok fair enough - so you agree with my first post too... if size is your #1, then Diamond (but only for that)
This is a picture from the original Nook's insides:

As can be seen, in this particular instance, there were two micro-SD cards inside, and therefore one could swap it with a larger one and effectively increase the internal memory of the device.
A similar scenario has occured in several Windows Phone devices.
Any ideas if the Nook's internal 8GB is merely a micro-SD card waiting to be replaced?
Nope, it's a SANDISK 8 GB SSD. The Nook Color likely required much faster Flash memory than an SD card is capable of.
See here:

So, I suppose it is impractical to replace it, right? The size of this SSD does not seem 'stock'.

You mean the physical size (in millimieters) or the logical size (in bytes)?
And out of curiosity: given that you can drop a 32GB microSD card into the NC without opening anything up, why are you so concerned with increasing the size of the onboard SSD?
I've downloaded a ton of apps from the Android market onto my NC and they've barely made a dent in the onboard memory. Meanwhile, I keep 14 GB of movies on my $25.00 16GB SD card and they play great, without so much as a hiccup.
Just that you could theoretically bump it up to 64GB is all. I am happy with 48GB obviously -- but the future of Android tablets will probably hold many exclusive games with quite large installs. I believe it won't be more than a year or two before we see 1-2GB games.

Thanks for this link! It actually answered my next question about being able to replace the battery yourself if needed. I've opened up my share of laptops and other devices, and it looks pretty simple (more so than most other devices).
Has anyone been eyeing up the Raspberry Pi? Soon to come out of the development stage into production. Looks like it would be a winner combined with a small touchscreen display and a port of ICS (with the phone stuff, etc, removed to enhance performance)
The details :The first product is about the size of a credit card, and is designed to plug into a TV or be combined with a touch screen accessory for a low cost tablet. The product will be available in two configurations: Model A and Model B. The expected price is $25 for a fully-configured Model-A system and around $35 for a Model B.

I know you wouldn't create a new thread without first searching, as specified in the rules which you read when you joined, so I assume there's something wrong with the search function. Would you like to let admin know it's not working or shall I?

ahhh ****, I was typing in rapberry pi lmao, and no it's not spam. Went up and typed it again, soon as I had Ra in it came up Rapberry. No wonder I never saw it Q_Q
Too bad! Plus its coming out soon.
Yeh, looking forward to the release date, hoping to be one of the lucky bidders chosen
Have you registered?
looking forward to it....also FXI Cotton Candy
Today we have the option of numerous smartphones with screens usually above 6in and packed with tons of features. We have become used to the gestures and gimmicks that come with the present generation of smartphones and are lost if somehow we misplace these devices even for a short time.
All said and done, we still have found memories of some devices we once owned.
My all-time favorite was a Samsung Marine waterproof and shockproof mobile I had way back in 2010(?)
The device specs compared to today's devices was laughable
Screen Size 1.77 inches
Battery: 1000mh
Camera : 1.3 MP camera,
flash, bluetooth, GPRS connectivity & JAVA support.
Display Type TFT-LCD, 256K colors
Resolution 120 x 160 pixels
Pixel Density 113 ppi
Operating System Proprietary Samsung
Internal Memory 7 MB
Expandable 8 GB, MicroSD
Keypad Alpha-Numeric
No WIfi, No Headphone connector,
The phone was put through a proper shock-test one day as it fell from my pocket on to a busy street while I was riding a motorbike. When I retrieved it, not only was it working, there were also no scratches on it!! I was located in Mumbai then and had carried this phone through many a rain. Never did it give me any problem.
Finally had to move to larger and costlier models as the need to browse emails and reply to social media posts became the deciding factor over simplicity.
Which is your favorite mobile phone model and why ?
A Samsung ruggedized flip top still running after almost 12 years. A tough, rugged phone.
Never any repairs other than a battery.

Good old Nokia E72, but E6 wasn't terrible either. Old-style screen where you don't need backlight during the day; battery that ACTUALLY lasted a week; all the internet fluff; and THE very best QWERTY like no one else has ever made then and since.

Unlight LCDs, that takes me back...
My 89 Motorola mobile phone actually was a phone. The red LED display reminded me of Nix tube technology. Coverage and rates were another story. Unlimited calling, no such thing
