Hi guys .. just got the Optimus 2x review unit.
I have it for about 2 weeks to try.
You guys got any questions about the device ? anything you want to know ? Will try to answer
Status LED
Oh Great!
yeah, here's the first one:
I saw on different pictures just left to the upper speaker several... let's say "spots".. in the display. I suppose one is for the brightness regulation and the others? For what they are? Would be amazing if one of these spots is a Status LED! Could you come up with this info?
thanks!
PS: h t t p://presse.lge.de/riot-utils/download/media/3/87566576697678/lg_optimus_speed_2.jpg Here you'll see what I mean.
probably proximity senzor, I dont think it has led indicator.
test battery life with sync and all apps and backround services, debugging etc off.
tet standby over a night with 3g and 2g.
then test heavy sufing with opera mini and standard browser on lowest and hight brightness
Yeah battery is important.
real life performance
Hi
I would be interested to know how smooth the optimus 2x would be after one day of usage and without using an application killer.
from my experience with the Galaxy S, the phone is quite smooth at boot time, but after sometime of usage where you would open and exit apps, the phone would get really laggy and even unusable to the extent that you have to reboot. People resort to using task killers to improve the phone performance which negates the purpose behind the android OS as it is designed to run at the same speed irrespective of whether you have 200 mb of free ram or 40 mb of free ram
So is this same with the optimus 2X or is the smooth experience persistent
Thanks
sadly .. its only the proximity sensor and nothing else .. digged into the menus and could not find anything about notification led

It's fault of Froyo not the Phone i think. There is multi task but no chance to close apps. With gingerbread update it will be better i think.
BATTERY ?
Does it play divx/xvid/mkv out of the box? and in 1080p?
If not, does any market app like vplayer or rockplayer solve it?
could you tell me if the LG flavour of Android includes the original News and weather widget?

Lag is a software problem not a hardware problem. The question is whether its a problem pertinent to the Android system itself or the vendor specific add-ons (bloatware) that each vendor adds (Touchwiz, htc sense, etc)

I picked the phone up about a week ago.. Here's what I can tell you about the performance over time.
Immediately after a reboot it runs like a dreams.. even after a couple days its fine. I ended up having to reboot today because it was starting to get pretty laggy. But like rouvax said, i believe thats an OS problem, not a phone problem.

The phone comes with an app called CarHome (one of google's apps i believe), which after looking at the battery usage is an energy hog. After killing that, and some of the other bloatware that comes on it, the phone will last me a day or so of light usage with wifi constantly on. Playing a lot of games will obviously drain the battery, down to about 8-10 hrs from what i've noticed, I haven't tested it extensively for exact numbers
Did u have information about the sar value? It's usually add to the box..

Hi!
One thing that would be nice to is if there is a widget to enable/disable mobile data connection.
What I mean is the widget "mobile" that (mostly?) HTC devices have.
Maybe the 2X/Speed has one under "LG Widgets".
Here are some screenshots of what I mean:

HTC Desire HD:

I am sorry to mess up the links, but I am not yet allowed to post external links...
Thank you!

Hi,
Does the 2x support USB OTG or USB host, i.e. is it possible to access an external USB storage? Would be great to stream media from an external hard drive via DLNA or HDMI. A micro-SD card is too small for a feature-length 1080p movie.
Thanks
- Does it have a good and loud speaker function so it can be used in a car (as navigation)?
- Can de LG launcher be disabled in favor of the stock android launcher?
Hey guys, I'm interested in getting Optimus 2x.
Can someone feedback whether does Optimus 2x really lags anot and also the battery life of this phone (both are important aspect to me)?
Thanks in advance!

No lags as in, with the current custom LG skin or you guys put another launcher on top of it?
In terms of battery life, what's your usage like? Able to last a day?
Anyone can help out on this??

From all the reviews I've read, battery life is suitable but not game changing. These reviewers have lift wifi on while playing movies, surfing, calling, and even playing a video on a loop. The general impression is if you're a power user (currently carry 2x different phones around & travels) grab an extra battery.
How's the battery compared to iPhone 4?

Anand posts a chart here.
Looks like 2x lost in the battery department.
Perhaps again iPhone 4... But that looses in other departments. And the 2x wins against other android phones, you should compare it with those. Also, it wins from the iPhone when looking at talking over 3g.
The battery easily lasts a day, with careful use even 2. It's about equal to my galaxy s so imo it's doing just fine... It's speedy as hell as well and things can only improve in time/
The battery lasts much longer than the one in my old x10 mini pro

I see. How about the phone itself?
Saw threads about lagging and having random shutdowns. What a let down!
I don't think that those are common problems. Haven't got any of them.

I have used my phone for 4 days and no lag what so ever.
From what I have read some lag exsist when using LG Home. I don't experience that but I have a android for the customisation it provides so the first thing I installed was Launcher Pro. It is insane fast... My last phone was SGS with voodoo kernel and darky and I did not expect this difference in performance.

[Q] Best ROM/kernel combo best battery life w/3G is turned on (Android 4.0 & above)
Hi guys, as per thread title -
I'm constantly on the move and usually do not have access to a charger for the day, and I rely heavily on 3G for my job. I don't wish to go back to stock Gingerbread, and will at be on Android 4.0 and above. 3G seems to drain a lot of battery.
Be it flashing customer kernel or going to the extreme tweaks, do share your thoughts here! V30J was a good ICS rom with acceptable battery drain, but it has its own set of issues (mainly freezing randomly and not waking up). But that's my benchmark of battery life, as I got almost 10 hours with moderate usage (no wifi, no GPS, minimum brightness etc with Pimp My Rom).
Since your a local, I bet or kiasu(Singapore Attitude). Or maybe not. Anyways, The best for battery life is V30J. Or not. When I used it, its very power savvy. But take note that the performance is poor

=.= kiasu.
yeah perhaps haha but for one I don't mind a sacrifice in performance as long as the rom functions and doesn't drain battery. However V30J as mentioned had its freeze issue and that is a problem that I may not be able to accept.

MY LG 4x HD have some lags in the game, not in hard core games , than poor games. It is for such a powerful phone very strange, and he has 1 GB of RAM , but for me is free just 300MB ... this is normal or what?
AW: Please help me, I'm confused
Go back to ICS.
On ICS I was having 400-600 Mb free.
But all games in this time consumed maximum 170Mb (Shadowgun THD)

Yep, you are correct, free ram means nothing on linux based OS such as android. Best gaming roms currently are ICS v10d and JB v20b, they run games the best because the overheat protection is not as aggressive, but don't worry your phone won't cook

i ran all games on v10H without problems of lag.what can make the issue appear or worse is running so many apps in the background, not all apps are made with good capabilitlys of being low on resources while in the background, remember launchers ect are still running while your gaming, they are still taking up resources even though its not on your screen

hi everybody i wonder if anybody has the same problem as me. i have this awesome galaxy note for almost 2 years now and still lovin it. but my problem with this phone is that when i'm on gingerbread my phone is really smooth and everything is awesome, there's quite a few lag, but it's alright, but since the 4.1 update my phone is really laggy well put aside all the smooth animation but other than that jellybean was nowhere comapre to gingerbread. All the s feature are extremely laggy and even the browser are laggy. also the battery is really bad. i try using all custom rom like cm or slim but the problem doesnt disappear the browser is still laggy and battery life is still bad so anybody has this problem and is there a fix for it? sorry for the bad english though
I have the same 2 issues on JB 4.1.2 - both the lag and faster battery drain compared to GB and ICS. I believed that it was a problem with the stock ROM, but you mentioned that it continued on custom ROMs as well. That is a little bit confusing. I found a lot of threads on this forum about custom ROMs. In almost each and every of them people stated that battery life in custom rom is extended (but not doubled or so I guess). And it's quite logical. Custom ROMs (or some of them) are made to be lighter than the stock ROM. that means less RAM and CPU usage and less lagging and battery drain, but I could be wrong.
I wonder if anyone could suggest ROMs that are proven to be "battery friendly".
I used the stock rom jb 4.1.2. It used to lag and drain a battery a lot. But what i did i rooted the phone and removed samsung stock apps that keeps on running on background. Now phone works great and battery drain has been fixed.
