Usb on-the-go (OTG) - Samsung Galaxy Mini

we seems to have lots of developers working sgm2., and it really excites me to see new updates on your the developments.. im not a dev.. just a fanatic..
i was just wandering that i think it would be better if our phone can support OTG.. i mean with the help of this we can transfer files to our phone directly from the usb flash drive..
i tried some research but i unfortunately it needs some kernel modifications and im totally helpless regarding those kinds of things.. and i read that it should have an api level of at least 11..
i was just wandering if there will be someone to work on it. i read galaxy y already have a kernel that supports otg.. so i guess there's also a possibility that our phone can suppport it as well..
it would be a very good feature to have..

This's a good idea, I think this will be good for our Minis

I'll see what I can do, but MSM7x27x doesn't support it quite good. Add me on GTalk ( [email protected] ) so we can test it.

can you pm me? i want to test.. i have otg cable from my galaxy camera.

Check his goo.im . In the CM10 nightlies folder there is a 24.02 build for OTG testing .

is it for stock rom?.
or cm10?.
or nightlies only?

Arm7 is a subset of armv6. Armv7 is....well....armv7. We have armv7, not arm7. So we can have otg

Request: MIUI GB based on Sharp fix 1 and kernel 2.6.35.7

I was wondering if someone could port a stable version of MIUI GB with radio and HDMI based on the modded sharp rom and kernel 2.6.35.6 because everything works there. It would be a great help as it would work 100%
Thanks in advance
If you could also point out how to port the radio and HDMI drivers for GB, that would also help. Thanks.
MIUI 2.8.3
Kernel CK 0.4d
Android 4.0.4

Two things
1. There's already a .35 based port by nitindeck.
2. Nobody has successfully ported HDMI and FM drivers to any custom roms yet.

Actually - This isn't true. GB roms like this one :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367974
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526848
which are based on stock and Sharp rc1 have everything working. But only GB. I actually want a similar ROM with miui settings, music, statusbar and launcher.
If i'm wrong, please don't get mad. Im a bit of a newbie
Thanks for the response

The ROMs you've quoted, like maclite macdragon, sharp mod fix 1, etc., don't quite fit in the definition of CUSTOM ROMs. They're just stock ones that have bloatware removed and are rooted. You can make those yourself by flashing an .nb0, installing CWM, taking a nandroid backup and edited through dsixda kitchen found in the forums.
The ones that are real custom ROMs like CM7 and MIUI don't have FM n HDMI working yet.
PS. for thanking a useful post I recommend the thanks button!
Peace

Takes slightly more than that
The reason they work is the binaries are compiled exactly for that phone and are not ported or recompiled sources from elsewhere/other hardware (incl. MIUI). Unfortunately none of the manufacturers has given us proper sources for ICS to follow step. The closest it gets is the Sharp ROM, which has the newer kernel, still is GB. Kind of hybrid. If I'd make a ROM today I'd probably base it on that, same as the chaps at droidsans are doing. For the simple reason everything works...

[Q] Can we port Note 10.1 ROM on our N7000?

since both the devices have "almost" the same hardware... can we port the 10.1 ROM on our N7000?
If your looking for a tablet interface you might want to have a look at the Paranoid Android rom, there's a couple of different ways you can have the interface set-up including tablet mode, you can also set individual apps to whether they are in tablet or phone mode and the size or resolution they are displayed at, it's really worth a look.
Wonder why do you say "can we" as you would be doing something in the process.... Better ask.. Is it possible for any of the N7000 awesome developers make a port of xxxxxxxxx to the device?

xperiacle's project...RevengeDevTeam has joined with xperiacle and his team. The best tablet version, just like note 10.1, will be released in Angry v3 ROM updated with UpdateMe (OTA), I think.
So, install Angry v3 ROM (JB 4.1.2 XXLSC) from RevengeDevTeam and wait for an update

Theoretically, yes you could. Even though the N7000 hardware is much different. Problem is, why? Not many developers would want to spend so much time working on a port of the same TouchWiz interface, apps, and features from a separate firmware. It would be much easier to change your DPI to 160 if you want a tablet interface.

usb otg on OB

hello guys i Bought USB otg how can I mount the flash drive to my phone??
gingerbread roms not supporting otg I dont know ics roms supports or not.
I have cm10?
Please give me the method
and I'm using blackberry's OTG one is this problem??
thnx
search the web and there is also a thread in accessories section
might help
guys no suggestions ?
You need a ROM that suports it and as far as I know there is still none for the LG OB. When offical ICS comes it might be and ICS seams not to far. So there might be a rather good chance that it will work in some months.

CM 7.2 ... What we need to make this?

Hi, i was thinking about CM 7.2 lately and i have a few questions. What we need to make this CM? We must need appropriate kernel and GPU drivers or many thing about i don't know? Why Galaxy Y have CM 7 but our Ace"i" didn't? As far as I know Galaxy Young and Ace"i" have the same CPUs and GPUs. The same or almost the same? If i'm wrong so i don't know all about Galaxy Y and Ace"i". And my last question . . . It's possible to make this CyanogenMod to our Ace"i" models? If yes . . . than how can we do this? . . . Welcome to discussion
WhiteXP is working on CM 7.2, and he has fixed almost all bugs (including WiFi), but that's for the Samsung Galaxy Y.
If it's ready/finished, we can port it.
You can also just install the zip (non-port), like I always do, lol.

Yes indeed !
Have you ever built from source? Then you can just build the ROM from sources, and inside one of all those sources there's something for the colors, there you can swap the colors/fix the swapped colors.
That should work (better) (instead of replacing the libSurfaceFlinger with the one from the stock ROM ).

Source? You mean source of CM 7.2?
If I'm not wrong, first we need a kernel compatible with CM7. Then we have to modify the device tree to fix colors. And last, we build using this tree and fix all the bugs '-'

I think we should build it from sources because if we port it we will have problems with pngs which are small and can't be resized.
No CM source for your phone.
For a working CM we need te full source of the chipset.

[Req] cm 7 based rom

I fully understand devs' work and the philosophy behind developing. And i thank you all devs for your great achievements in mini 2 developement
But, i have a dilema: why did no one tried to develop or port a good old cm 7 rom?
The stock rom is awfaul. It lacks, freezes, reboots... The cm 9-10.1 roms are great, but, let.s face it: untill sammy releasy official jb there is nothing to do
So, why not a cm 7 rom?
I had a galaxy ace once and switching from stock to cm 7 was revelatory...
Please consider my request

me too
i think we can achieve the best performance that can fit into this device
it would be cool to see cm7, i think all drivers must work on it
cool idea i think that will be the right choice until offical jelly bean come
Glad to see others thinks the same
I think for a dev, porting an cm7 rom is a matter of hours.
I wish i could do that but i don.t know how.
Anyway, i hope that someone will complete this task
Best regards!

I really don't think like you. Even S2 in early days had cm7. Now lot of peoples port CM9/10/10.1 and a little bit ports cm7.
Sent from my GT-S6500D using Tapatalk 2
Well, seeing as we'll not get JB, and for that matter a fully working CM10(.1), CM7 seems like a very good idea. With a new stable kernel, without TouchWiz 3.0, and any bloatware, it'll be blazing fast. Plus, the DSP Manager combined with the already awesome stock music experience it'll be more awesome for me. I know it's on the CM 10(.1) but I want a camera damn it! (even though I know it sucks, but it's important kinda for me).
As i said in first post, i really applaud the devs' work on cm 9-10.1, but they (you) have to think that the average noob user (like me) needs a fully working custom rom, even it.s not the latest android update.
So, devs will have our support in developing new roms, in the same giving us a humble cm7 rom for our daily use
I guess that if galaxy ace was running so smoothly with cm7, mini 2 will be lighting faster
And, of course, being arm7 is not an impediment for cm7
