[Q] Possibly Bricked Stock ROM?? - Motorola Droid 4

Hey all,
Got sort of an odd problem. I recently upgraded my Droid 4 with the Jelly Bean OTA update, and it was running great. But today, I ran across 1% Battery Mod for JB users (located at the link below), and thought I'd try it. But, I think I misread it. Looks like it's for a "Leaked" OTA, which I'm guessing is different from the official one...whoops
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2132420
Stupid me, I flashed it over the stock ROM using Safestrap 3.11, and got a boot animation loop (constant red Droid Eye - no boot). Well, I did make a backup of the stock ROM before I flashed it, and figured I could just restore it. But, when I did, it still wouldn't boot. Just a blank black screen...not good
I'm guessing Safestrap isn't meant to be used like that. But anyway, I actually tried restoring the same backup that I made of the Stock ROM to a ROM Slot, and wouldn't you know it, it worked. It booted up fine and I can use it. I'm glad I'm not screwed in that regard, but anyway I was wondering if there's a way I can fix the Stock ROM slot. I'm not too terribly worried since I can use the ROM slot that I created, but just wanted to know.
Am I gonna have to wait for the fastboot files to come out? Thanks in advance.

xml AP fastboot file has been found see http://sbf.droid-developers.org/cdma_maserati/list.php
if you just want to restore your stock rom slot use my nandroid

place unziped folder in internal sdcard/TRWP/BACKUPS then restore in safestrap 3.11

Don't try to restore ICS from jb though, you'll permabrick the phone if I'm not mistaken.... someone correct me if I'm wrong though

Yeah, I was pretty sure of that too. Thanks for the clarification.
Wow, I didn't know that the jb xml was found already, either. I guess I didn't look hard enough. Just for future reference, if I needed to flash it, how would I go about doing it? Would I need to use RSD Lite? And is it just self explainatory? I've used the ICS Utility once, and I'm assuming that RSD Lite is similar. Thanks again guys.

there is a jb utility out now

[MOD]Droid Bionic Mod for init.d(For Stock)

This Mod will allow for init.d scripts to run, including the CWM recovery script from PowerBoost.
Currently integrated in DroidTh3ory's [R3]BLURR3D V1.7 PBX rom, but I updated my zip to work with any Rom including Stock Rooted .
Requirements:
You must be rooted and CWM through Rom manager installed.
PLEASE UNINSTALL bionic bootsrapper (it will not allow you to activate boot into CWR on every boot script)
Install Directions:
I updated the unthrottle script to run the mods in the right spot, I will update it further but it does work. Unzip onto you SDCARD not sdcard-ext
Next flash stock_initMod.zip through CWM recovery and then run all scripts that you want from powerboost including the CWM on every boot.
Last open menu.sh with script manager as root, and follow directions on screen. The selections will have DroidTh3ory's rom listed but it will work on any rom as long as you unzip this into /sdcard/.
Credit:
Thanks to navendrob, I edited his X2 version of the mod to get this one working.
DroidTh3ory for using it in his current roms which are really smooth.
Most init.d scripts will work by copying and pasting into /system/etc/init.d/ folder, but I can only get the CWR reboot tweak to work by using the script from unthrottle something due to permissions I think.
Ccan you please explain whathecript does,in layman's terms.
Thanks

Well it may not be laymans term, but it adds a couple of files that motorola left out. Probably on purpose. One file calls busybox if you have it installed in the default location, and the other allows the preinstall script to run. The reason Cwm recovery would not boot up everytime is because the file /data/.recovery_mode is automatically created and deleted upon booting via bootstrap. If you flash this you will be able to run the init.d script for cwm recovery which will add the .recovery file back after rebooting. Its hard to explain but just flash it and run the powerboost script and you will see the difference even on the other init.d mods.

Are the updated scripts in the unthrottled folder or a new location because I ran the scripts again from the unthrottled folder and most scripts/mods don't seem to be working.
FYI... Everything has now been streamlined in a special version of Powerboost being fully incorporated into 1.6. Nothing is required of the user other than selecting your mod.

I flashed this and installed the script cwm on every boot, it worked on a couple power off/on. I then had it go into battery mode on accident while powering off and on and leaving it plugged into power and it wont boot into cwm anymore. Going to try and flash and install again.
Doh just read theories post, guess it doesn't matter now....

didn't get the error from powerboost after I flashed this, but still not booting CWM we will get there eventually
EDIT: I actually had to copy the unthrottle folder into the sdcard/ directory because that's where powerboost was looking for it...before that, I would just get an error that the files didn't exist

I thought that was already understood. Im glad to hear droidth3ory got it figured out. My way works just as well im sure. I use a reboot method i.e. quickboot or similar and do not turn power on off manually so i did not test that way.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out. My method works as well incase something goes awry. I did notice a usb connection to pc lag that I only experienced in1.5. Has anyone else experienced this or maybe my device is getting slower lol. This started on a fresh install of 1.5 without even using powerboost by the way.
Stock Bionic Rom?
Will this work on stock bionic rom? I have already run an enable init.d script and it created the init.d folder and settings are sticking if I do a "Hot Reboot" but not if I do a full reboot. This issue has been driving me crazy, since I had it working on the DX but not now.
If this will work on stock, I would be happier than a dog with 2 peters!
is this supposed to dowload as attachment.php?? or is my computer bugging right now?? lol

Best way to speed up my stock 8.9 i957?

I have a stock 8.9 that's pretty slow. It even freezes sometimes. Is there anything I can do to speed it up?

Check the development section. Im working on CM10 now (the 31-10 build), which has JB. No problems. I just wanna say, read before you do, just to close out some problems.
Maybe its easier if you ask your problems and someone can answer

I so depend on my tablet that I don't want to try it without knowing what I'm doing. If I run into problems and can't use it I'll be screwed.
I have an i957 so the steps are a little different I think. Is that what you have?
Hmm, i just followed the steps in the CM10 and its working. I have a p7310 model...
The steps are the same. I have an i957 and am running the cm 10 from nrvate. Just make sure you have a Rom specifically for the i957. Very happy with the Rom. You can find it in the i957 development section.

I must be dense. I don't see the steps!
This is all I see:
Use TWRP, factory reset and wipe /system if you are coming from another ROM. Don't forget to install google apps http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.ph...on/Google_Apps
And that doesn't tell me enough.....
Start by looking for instructions on how to install a recovery and root your device. CWM and TWRP are two recoveries, you'll use one of the two. These are flashed through Odin. Once you have a recovery installed then you can flash a rom through it. Make sure the Rom is specific for your device. Not any Rom will work and the wrong one will brick it. These are basic instructions and are only meant to show you what to look for on the forums. The forums have "stickies" where a lot of this basic information can be found.
The galaxy sII General forum had some good stickies that can help. Read and 're-read them until you'll comfortable.

Oh boy. I think I did it. I flashed TWRP through ODIN. With CM10 from nrvate do I just point TWRP to the file and that's it?
Wipe system, cache and dalvik cache. Then point twrp (install) to the rom. Then install the gapps and then reboot.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
What about Google Apps? Where do I get that?
When I wipe does that remove all of my apps and info??!?
No it doesn't remove your apps, but I'd back those up first just in case. The gapps package should be found where you found the Rom.
Ps factory reset will delete your apps.

Ugh. I just flashed and rebooted from TWRP. I get the Samsung screen and then a black screen and then nothing......
Just posted to to CM10 thread. Hopefully, it's an easy fix.
Give it sometime and then try re booting. If you can still get to twrp you can restore, you did a nandriod back up,right?
If that doesn't work you may be soft bricked. If so go to sammobile.com and down load the stock Rom and flash it through Odin. Hopefully you don't need that but it'll bring you back to where you started. But I hope you backed everything up. Because your tab will be like New again.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I tried rebooting again and now I can get to the Cyanogenmod splash screen. It just sits there though....
That's a good sign, your not soft bricked. What version of twrp are you using? I'd try going back into twrp and wiping the cache and dalvik and then under advanced, fix the permissions and then reboot.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
---------- Post added at 02:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:56 PM ----------
If that doesn't work then you'll have to do a clean install which means a factory reset. Back everything up first though with something like titanium backup pro.
Then do the factory reset, the wipes and install the Rom and gapps. After booting you'll have to resetup your Gmail account and then install titanium backup again Then you can restore your apps and data.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Dang. That didn't work. I'm using TWRP 2.1.4.
Ok, I'll restore, then back up with Titanium and do what you said.
Thanks.
I know you can get this running on your i957 because I did. But I went through what your going through too. I'm using twrp 2.3.1.1. If you Google twrp i957 you see a goo.im download, get the .tar file. It will install over your twrp version thru Odin.
But I'm pretty sure the factory install will do the trick.

doubts about recovery

when i install rom manager, download and flash droid 3 recovery, why doesn't work? can look idiot, but i don't like safestrap because i can't flash any rom over stock. when i look at this, i see the stock that remains there like a loss of storage space.
i wanna flash roms over the others. like i've always done with my other phones.
so, could somebody help me pleeease! with links, tips, etc .. thanks!
I believe you need to install and run droid 3 bootstrap, before using rom manager

[Q] Need help with Bionic, that has Safestrap 3.6 installed but no OS

I work at a cell fix shop and one of my customers brought in a Bionic that his son tried to root and ended up with Safestrap 3.6 installed but no OS. I have done OS fixes by completely wiping the phone and re-installing the stock OS but I would like to just be able to place the stock os in the stock os rom slot but I have no idea how or where to start looking for those files and I have tried searching here for them but I don't know what the official os is for this phone. Any help would be awesome, until this happened I had never even seen safestrap, and I have no idea how to use it and not the time to figure it out by myself. Thanks guys!

Ok so should I look then for "deoxided stock" for bionic? or is there a specific version # or something specific I should be looking for? Also if you happen to have a link to that it would be awesome
Here's a link

But I did notice it's just the os not the system so I doubt it'll work. You could flash a stock based ROM like FlyingJelly and that should take but it would have tweaks and themes different from stock

[Q] how to install custom rom over the stock rom slot on safestrap kk?

I looked up and down but I dont see a trend on this I just want to make sure im doing it right so I dont brick my phone I made a back up of the stock rom. do I just wipe and flash the new rom over the stock rom slot?
Back up your stock rom first then factory reset in safestrap then flash . There are some videos on youtube about ss its older but it still works the same way . Just make sure your chosing the correct rom for your version .
Sent from my SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
personally i dirty flashed dynamickat from safestrap and havent had any issues, but to be safe you should back up the stock rom, and then just move the rom to the internal flash(as simple as dragging and dropping from windows) and then select it from the menu when you go to install, you can do a full wipe or you can see how a dirty flash works for you, just depends really
Read and read and follow directions to the "T" and you'll be fine. I backed up the stock rom first. Did the wipe in SS and then flashed the rom from from my sd card. Surprised how easy it was. I'm flashing like a mofo now lol. I always back up before flashing anything. Just my paranoia.

This will come in handy for those oh sh!zzzt noments.
Can we use any other rom slots yet on the kk safestrap?
