Hi, i'm noob in Galaxy Flashing so this is my problem:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 blocked from italian carrier.
Few times ago i tried to enable 3-buttons download/recovery mode installing Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5 with Odin. The installation finished successfully but the download/recovery mode still didn't work.
After some reboots (where the phone worked right), now the phone stucks in the boot screen (the one with Galaxy S GT-I9000 SAMSUNG).
With the JIG i can enter download mode but my computer can't detect the phone (Windows feels my USB connection but Odin does not detect it).
If i connect the phone to the computer in normal mode (not in download mode, so with stuck screen), Kies can detect the phone but says that it can't talk with phone in this way(like if it was in USB Debug mode).
I Hope someone can help me
Restart your computer>>>Go to task manager and close all Kies applications (I usually have 2 Kies running from startup)>>>Start Odin and select all the files>>>Put your phone into download mode and connect>>>It should be detected now.
If it is still not detected, close odin, disconnect phone. Start Kies go to tools and install drivers. Once this is complete. Close Kies and start from the top of this post...restart...
Solution Is HEIMDALL.....
Here Comes your solution:
You can easily back your phone with Heimdall.
It's a flashtool which is more complicated than ODIN.
If interesting, simply PM me and we will do it.
I'm Here...
Well,first go to here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265
Second: Download 7-zip PC software & extract your official md5 firmware to obtain several other files.
Third:Search the web for a Heimdall How-To(if you didn't find,I'll provide You links)
Last:You'll flash the firmware via Heimdall & again your peace of mind will be back.
Try to reflash your phone normaly with another Rom, it should work

Sorry, your advice didn't work, Odin still doesn't detect the phone
Try to change the USB port and install ONLY the phone driver -if you don't find you can contact me.

I don't understand, your download mode works?
Sent from my Galaxy S with ICS 4.0.4 (Italy)
he said download mode works but odin cant detect the phone .
Try reinstalling the samsung usb drivers and/or try from another pc and see if it shows the same thing (meaning nothing) .
Hi,
sorry but i tried all the ways, Odin and Heimdall.
I tried Odin on Windows and Heimdall on MacOSX but always they say
"Failed to detect compatible download-mode device."
I'm sure that phone is in download mode
May i install drivers on OSX with Heimdall?
I have not original samsung USB cable, but i think this is not a problem
Rooted my GT-I9000, and now it has crashed!
First off all my Galaxy I9000 was trying to software update via Kies, and it failed. The it would not start, but i managde to root it with a stock "VOD" rom.. But after a while i wantet to root it back to "Nordic Version"... But i could not do this, because the 3 button combo dont work on my Galaxy I9000 anymore.. :/ So there for i baought a USB JTAG, that puts it into download mode. So far, So good But when it is finished rooting, it fails to mount/unmount a bunch of stuff.. I have a picture of the screen, so that you guys can se what the problem is. I have tryed to root it with the same version that worked before, but it dont work. I have also tryed with som pit files, and so on... I give up, i need help with my Samsung Galaxy S - GT-i9000. Please help me out with this..
Getting Hopeless...?
1)For you to become sure,my Galaxy S Aka I9000 was exactly the same as yours and right now there is nothing wrong with that of course after flashing by HEIMDALL.
2)Remember,if your are going to do anything,Your first and your last key,is your HOPE so be so hopeful and let's start to get over this.
3)Download I9000 USB driver from here and simply install it on WINDOWS OS.
http://hotfile.com/dl/48893334/93383a1/I9000_USB_driver.rar.html
4)Before Using Heimdall, Enter it's folder and you'll see another sub folder called driver and you'll see just ONE executable program, run it and follow these instructions:
(I'll Shortly Provide You A How-to)
5)Enter Heimdall and follow these instructions:
(I'll Shortly Provide You A How-to)
6)Flash firmware
7)Enjoy
8)Press my THX Button.

generally no, but I recommend strongly to try another micro USB-Cable & another USB Port!
No one of these method does work for me,
any suggest?? my main problem is that the pc does not detect the phone when it's in download-mode. I know how to flash it, but there is not a program that can talk with it!
Can you try to make the operation on another computer?-install usb driver first...

Hi, changing computer worked. I tried on OSX and didn't work, on Windows 7 on VMware Fusion and didn't work. After all, i tried on a laptop with Windows XP and it solved my problem. Now i get a mobile network error, with one carrier it works and with another it does not. The mobile network detected is always really low.
Earlier I was trying to upgrade the firmware via Kies and something went wrong. My Note is now stuck with a " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". But when you try to connect to Kies via usb then nothing happens and is unable to connect.
What are my alternatives to get my phone working again?
next to following the recovery mode steps, usb connection troubleshooting, etc in Kies,
you can get phone into download mode and flash the desired rom throught pc odin See dr Ketans thread in sticky section original development

Can't seem to do it via Kies anymore since when I plug it via USB to KIES - its just says "connecting" the whole time until it times out. Sucks that this could happen even if i'm using the Kies software. Such a hassle.
Looking over dr ketans thread, would it matter which country ROM one uses from the list? What are the pros and cons?
Enter in download mode and flash the .tar file via pc odin

hello, I need everyone's help.
my samsung galaxy tab p1000l was brick, managed to recover the device.
Now when I try to blink, latch on Odim always segunte message: SetupConnection. How should I proceed? already changed the computer, installed the kies again. and no longer know what do do more. help me please
First you should post this in Q&A section or the general section.
And check if kies is running in the system tray if so exit it then try again because sometimes kies block Odin . and you don't have to install kies just install the drivers and connect the tab to be identified then try Odin again.

install that drivers: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kmi... [ Windows ]/Samsung USB Drviers.exe/download
and update java.
I had the same problem. I tried to solve it several ways. At the end I could solve it, with this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20382688 If I remember well you only can get it work in linux.
Hi guys! I have a big problem, because in the past I installed null rom on my gear, but today I wanted to update it to Tizen. So, I tried it with Odin, but it stuck and show a message Setup Connection... So I tried it again and again and again. Maybe 2x it skipped this message, but then it stucked I think in zImage or something like this. Then I unplug the cable from PC (when it showed me zImage) and now it is showing an error message on my Gear: Firmware update encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
But the problem is that Kies didnt connect to my gear, it is "Connecting" non-stop. So it recognise that something is in PC, but it didnt recognize that is my Gear. In Odin I have the same problem that i mentioned earlier in this post. Setup Connection and it is completely frozen. I tried everything. Other USB ports (I think 7 different ports), I tried to flash stock rom on another PC, I reinstalled the Samsung USB drivers, I tried to flash custom recovery, I tried different versions of Odin, maybe 10 alternatives from 1.5.2 to 3.09... So I dont know what should I do. Please help me an sorry for my terrible english, but I hope you understand me.
Thank you!

Very similar situation with mine. However Odin won't operate on my Windows 7 Computers and the Tab won't accept anything from either the Computer, SdCards or any other way. Even when I can access firmware according to the Boot Mode Screen. I'm stuck as well. But hope you solve your problem...
