[Q] Bootloop and can't recover with KDZ - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hi,
After flashing the EternityProject's CyanogenMod 10.1 and install Boot Recovery from CWM Touch recovery v6.0.1.1, it went into bootloop animation after reboot.
Did data wipe/factory reset in Android Recovery Mode still went into bootloop.
So tried to recover using original firmware but getting black and white lines on the screen during KDZ software update. Now, I'm stuck.
Anyone has resolution?

Do data wipe/factory reset in Android Recovery Mode still produce bootloop
Now tried to recover but getting black and white lines on the screen during KDZ software update to flash original firmware.

Did you try with battery inside or without? I once was in your situation, putting my phone in sw mode but I got that empty screen. Turned out I inserting the battery solved the problem.

Updated with my post below.

Great! It worked with battery insert before booting into SW Upgrade mode and before the KDZ software upgrade.

After the flash i rebooted the phone. Now my phone is stuck on boot.

can you get into download mod
Hi,
i still get into download mode and recovery.
After succesfully flashing a standard or custom rom i reboot the phone and then it hangs.
Could this be the phones bootloader?
many thanks in advance

I've never dealt with bootloader sorry bro
Pff. it looks like its waiting for a charger. i also tried another battery. that works the first time but after reboot same problem..
Try factory resetting it in recovery? If tjsy doesn't work try a data + cache + dalvik wipe and go to sammobile down load the latest 2.3.6 firmware, (I'm using xjw4 which works a treat) and flash that?

Galaxy Note stuck at boot screen after OTA update

Hi, My note is stuck at boot screen after the official OTA update. I tried googling but most seems to pertain to Rooted/flashed phones.
Mine is a new note which has not been rooted at all in the past. I downloaded to OTA update and it has been stuck at the bootscreen for the past few hours.
Any help appreciated!
1. Try pulling out the battery for a few minutes.
2. Boot into recovery mode and wipe cache and dalvik cache.
should i also wipe the data/factory reset in recovery mode?
No. God forbid, then you might end up with a superbrick
Thanks for your help

Unable to enter recovery mode
Hey I got similar problem, my phone gets stuck at Samsung logo screen. I am unable to enter recovery mode. When it shows android update screen after pressing recovery mode combination, my phone restarts.
Is there anyway I can get back normal mode without losing data on phone

Keep them pressed for 3 seconds more then you end up to recovery. They need to be pressed while booting the device from reboot or off state, then you will end up in recovery or download mode.

Yesterday, I received an OTA on my galaxy note and now it is also stuck in boot screen with the breathing samsung logo.
I tried to go into recovery mode using the 3 button combo, but it wouldnt enter into recovery mode. I get the green android logo with wire mesh and the phone reboots.
Can someone help me to boot my phone?
Got mine backup and running after OTA update gave me Samsung logo freeze issue
So after the 7MB OTA stability patch mine too was stuck on samsung logo.
Kies wouldn't recover it and putting into download mode or recovery mode didn't help. I too tried to go into recovery mode using the 3 button combo, but it wouldnt enter into recovery mode. I get the green android logo with wire mesh and the phone reboots but i didn't at the time try for 3 more seconds.
I then used ODIN and applied a downloaded Aussie Gingerbread ROM as i couldn't find Aussie ICS ROM. With my plan to do a Kies/wifi update to ICS. This caused acore and other processes to crash every few seconds. I then did a factory reset which got it stable and then tried to update to ICS but the phone said there were no updates available. Then I applied the international ICS using ODIN so i'm back were i was two days ago before the stupid 7MB patch.
Unfortunately, I don't think i can get anymore OTA updates but after the 7MB one i don't think i want to.
Long story short i think you should be able to go into recovery mode do a factory reset and it should be OK.

ODIN voids warranty?
I have the same issue after receiving 7MB OTA update. I am unable to go into recovery mode(same green robot and wire mesh etc...), so i am going to use ODIN method... but will flashing stock ROM using ODIN void my warranty?? I am not rooted.
Thanks.

Thanks.... but this is my aunt's phone, so rooting is not an option. I use HTC Hero... and we have RUU which we run on the PC and everything is restored to stock.... it removes root if you have it and also runs without root. Is there anything similar for samsung devices?
Also, now I am considering going for warranty repair... didnt want to do that at first as i have a really bad experience with HTC service centers... now lets see what samsung does..!!
Same problem here please find a fix!!

You don't need root to flash stock with PC Odin, and flashing any stock does not affect warranty. To use Odin you need phone in download mode (vol down, home and power until reboot into download)

Just flash it using the same os version you already have installed in my case I had the same problem with this little ota update and I've just flash it with the same ics version that was installed and my phone was back with all my stuff and rooted... once you finish doing the re flash you'll get an on screen message saying "Fail to update try using samsung kies on your computer" or something like that...
Thanks... but I went for warranty repair .. and I got it back in 2 hours..... unfortunately I lost all my data .. even on external partition. Now it is on ICS and still I have a notification for available update ... which I wont do.
Anyone has had success with that update?

Phone always boots in recovery

I was trying to restore my phone to previous state using Rom Manager. Phone restarted in recovery mode, formatted the boot partition and failed to restore. I applied existing of CWM ROM update.zip and snce then my phone restarts in Recovery mode everytime.
I tried one click restore using ODIN, Heimdall nothing worked. recreated the partitions wiped everything, loaded stock ROM but still the phone boots up in recovery mode.
Please suggest some pointers on how to troubleshoot this problem.

Hmmm... i've heard of cases where the power button on the captivate refuses to be 'unpressed' which makes it boots up just by plugging in the battery,
Maybe it's like that with your volume buttons?
Does it feels a little bit weird like it doesn't click when you press it?

Thats a good point...
The buttons seem to be normal. I tried keytest and the results look fine
Volume Up : 115
Volume Down : 114
Power : 116
Menu : 139
Home : 102
Search : 217
Back : 158
Moreover I can access recovery and flash any ROM that I have on SDCard. Funny part whenever I flash a new ROM I see a new recovery
Do you know of anyway use ADB without booting phone and putting it in debugging mode?
Thanks for your inputs.
Update: Issue is resolved
I'm not sure on exactly what worked. Using System Corps Recovery, I changed all the partitions to ext4. Made some random changes to toggles during boot. Restarted in download mode and flashed a one click stock rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18370912&postcount=3
it booted in recovery, then clicked on Flash Bootloader in one click and restarted the phone in download mode and flashed it again with the same ROM.
Thats it. I feel that Bootloader did the trick, but I had it flashed earlier as well.
Thanks irfarf & Sammyazel for your inputs on this.

congrats!!
i do also think that it was the boot loader is the problem here
i had a few problem with my friends cappy won't go into download mode and whenever it boots up, it shows a bunch of random colors than a boot image. turns out that the last bootloader flash wasn't done correctly or something.
Confirmed - the problem is with the bootloader. Once I flashed an original firmware from Samsung, I was then able to install CWM and any ROM I wish after that. Not sure what caused the problem, but this was the solution in my case. Thanks to everyone who pointed me in the right direction!!!

Try running the keytest from recovery mode to ensure all the keys are working fine.
In my case it was corrupt bootloader that caused this issue. you can try flashing stock ROM with bootloaders to fix it.
All the best!
i have same problem. buttons work ok after key test.
how can i reinstall the bootloader?
ps: i hate this stuff.....reminds me of win95/98......awefull times

What exactly did you do to get to this point?
You can find Odin KK4 with bootloaders here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18370912&postcount=3
You will need to flash corn kernel with Odin 1.85 afterwards if you wanna flash a custom ROM.

Download this and use SmartFlashTool to flash this. It will unbrick your phone but beware you will lose all your data.

Download the mobile driver again, and follow the instructions correctly. Like, removing the battery, press volume down while plugging in until the s/w update screen appears, etc etc. Good luck! Hope it'll boot after the flash.

I've a similar-ish issue. I've got CWM installed and can boot into CWM ok. My problem was that I tried to install a ROM (MIUI) and the install had no errors, but when the phone was powered on it hung at the MIUI screen.
So I reverted to a backup successfully and decided to have another go (same problem). This time, after I restore to the backup (which is installed without error by CWM) I can't can't past the initial LG screen. Seems to go into reboot loop.
Any thoughts anyone? If I can get into CWM ok and have a working restore then is there something I'm doing wrong!!
thanks,
Mark

BOOT LOOP

Hi,
My LG Optimus Black P970 is locked in boot loop and I can't fix it.
I did the whole procedure from this topic, until the last SFT screen with the message 'Download Complete' written in green. But the phone restarts and gets into boot loop again.
I tried to repair the phone with the LG Mobile Support Tool, but it didn't work either. In fact, after this last procedure the LG logo stopped appearing, now the screen just lights up (but does not show anything) and buttons LED blink.
What do I do?
Thank you
Initialization
Do yo turn off completely the phone and connect the usb cable without battery?
Flash ICS

Thanks everyone for the replies. After several firmwares, I tried Europe V20S and it worked, at least partially. The boot loop is gone, but another problem appeared.
Now the screen is splitting into several. I think it might be a firmware conflict (for trying to install different firmwares repeatedly - do not know if I'm talking silly, noob here) and a wipe data / factory reset would help.
So I tried to follow this topic, since Optimus Black doesn't have a keycombination to get to Recoverymode on booting, but It didn't work.
Is there another way?
Thanks
