Hi,
First post here, new to Androids from Apple... I've never flashed a ROM or anything similar, I have a Nexus 4 and just bought a HTC M7 locked on Three. It looks like Three have customised (or added) stuff to the latest version - I have two questions.
1) How do I remove the Three ROM and replace with stock HTC
2) Is it possible to get vanilla 4.2.2 JB on this device?
Please go easy, trying to learn
If you search in these forums you'll find the answers to all your questions mate

Start here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38933080 to find what you need
Do a lot of research, read everything multiple times and then once more to be sure.
Take things nice and slow and you will be fine, things are a lot safer these days than they used to be especially if your backing up (which you will want to be doing)
P.s. make sure you understand the pros and cons also of what you are doing and learn how to get back to stock

I've never really been into htc except for the g1, and I just got a nexus one that was already rooted running cm7 nightlies, I was under the impression that with htc you had to have s-off to root but mine is s-on. Does the nexus one have to have s-off like an evo 3d or sensation sorry if it's a dumb question I came from samsung

Nexus is a dev phone with a unlockable bootloader out of the box.
S off is not need and you can't achieve it. Very fiew nexus ones actually do have s off though.
Read the wiki and learn just about all you need/want to know.
Thanks will do

I'm about to buy a Nexus One for me. Right now i have a Samsung Galaxy 5 (i5500).
What wiki do you talk about?
Is it easy to install CM7?
Wiki is on this very forum. It is a sticky.
Perhaps the link at the very top labeled "WIKI"
Good lord.
Or in the sticky thread named "Nexus One Wiki".
Or in my signature.

This would depend on you technical know-how. If you rooted your phone you should be able to handle installing a custom rom.
Hi guys,
long time lurker, finally posting after having acquired the beautiful One.
I seem to have a amistake though as I got it from Three (first time customer) and it seems that I will be waiting quite some time for the updates: 1.29 now, Android 4.2.2 and KLP...
I know I could root and install any other ROM but I want ot avoid going down that route aas much as possible.
I am pretty happy with Sense 5 for now.
So that leads me tot hte following question:
Can I "install" the official Sim free ROM on my 3 branded phone?
What I want is a phone which is not rooted and gets as timely updates as possible from HTC (I'm aware that they are not that quick but adding the 3 branding as a layer makes it even longer).
Thanks
Sorry but buy a companion nexus tablet for quick updates.
I'm sure someone's custom rom is pretty untouched but I don't know which yet.

Thanks for the answer, I don't want Google quick updates like on the Nexus devices, I would be happy with the longer HTC quick updates, but right now I have Three UK quick updates.
I want to go from: Google Release -> HTC Release -> Three Release
to Google Release -> HTC Release
Guys, planning on rooting my HTC One in the next couple of days. Can you recommend a good Rom to use please? Also will this sort out my Bluetooth tethering issue possibly? I can wifi tether but not Bluetooth. The phone pairs no problem. Three network have confirmed its not their restriction but the phones.
Thanks

Take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions:
Q4: What is the best ROM/kernel/modem?
Honestly, there is no "best". It's all based on personal choice. For example; I may like heavily customizing my ROMs whereas you may like it to look at basic as possible. The best thing you can do is to just test out different ROMs/kernels/modems and see which you prefer.
Also, please don't ask which is the best because your post will be deleted as it's against forum rules to ask that question.
That said, I prefer ViperOne.
Ok thanks. Do you think this will sort out the Bluetooth issue?

Hi im not sure if this has been asked before or not, but i just wanted to know if it is possible to run a different launcher or UI on the HTC One? I am trying to make the decision to buy one after too many faulty Nexus 5's. What i would find ideal is to have the HTC One running Android KitKat 4.4.2 with Nova Launcher, is this possible? Also what are some of the best custom kernels one would recommend, i am used to Dev's like Franco & Faux, anything out there as good if not better for the HTC One??
Thanks in advance
Yes you can use any launcher you want. AFAIK the sense widgets won't work with them though

Great, thanks. Have you already got your KitKat update? How long does it usually take to get the Android updates on this device?

Not long at all if your installing ROMS. We don't usually wait as long as non root users so for updates. That's why I don't usually bother with update times when picking an android device because I'll always be a root user and get updates before everybody else.

For all I know everybody is praising HTC for they're quick update times on the One. I'm not 100% sure but I believe we recieved KitKat before any other Android device (Besides the Nexus 5 ofcourse)

Hello, i own a HTC One M7 since 6 months, and some how i sent it to the factory because of the Camera gradient issue, and after a month i got a new one, everything was similar, until i got a pop-up in May 21th about the new software Release it was the 4.4.2 with Senses 6, i searched the net and saw that this is the Developers Edition (DE) but i can't see any difference in the software information, like i saw one day that the normal one is named HTC One M7 and mine should be named HTC One M7 DE but i can't find it anywhere, and those it restrict something if i want to root, or it comes with S on or S off and what's the difference between them ? Please if anyone can help me and sorry for my bad english, i'm french

It just has to do with updates and one already being unlocked. Its not really important....if you look in bootloader it is s-on because htc wont s-off you....you can do that yourself. I would look at the different guides for rooting and flashing throughout these forums. They will help you alot.
