Guys, planning on rooting my HTC One in the next couple of days. Can you recommend a good Rom to use please? Also will this sort out my Bluetooth tethering issue possibly? I can wifi tether but not Bluetooth. The phone pairs no problem. Three network have confirmed its not their restriction but the phones.
Thanks

Take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions:
Q4: What is the best ROM/kernel/modem?
Honestly, there is no "best". It's all based on personal choice. For example; I may like heavily customizing my ROMs whereas you may like it to look at basic as possible. The best thing you can do is to just test out different ROMs/kernels/modems and see which you prefer.
Also, please don't ask which is the best because your post will be deleted as it's against forum rules to ask that question.
That said, I prefer ViperOne.
Ok thanks. Do you think this will sort out the Bluetooth issue?

Well I am currently running Froyo 2.2 rooted on my Captivate. I have no internet at home so I am reduced to tethering via usb. What is a cheap way to do this? I have tried renameing/deleteing the tetheringmanager but didnt work.
Even links to forums that could help me would be appreciated, and I wont mind using a rom or something else as long as its free lol
Thanks for the help

Flash a rom. They all have it enabled by going around at&t

Any good ones that you have tried?

Loaded question
I have flashed nearly everyone available. They are all good in their own right. Telling you one is best or better is mostly opinion. Depends on what you are looking for especially in appearance. The one I would avoid for a first timer is cm7, which is what I am running but is not as easy to flash.
Look at captivate development. Take a look at the Roms available.

Thanks for the info! And what I am mostly looking for is usability and tethering lol it could look beautiful but if it lags, cant support flash 10.1, and you can't barely do anything with it besides call and text then it ain't for me lol

Abd another reason I ask cause since I don't have internet..i brick I screwed..

You are right and I would not flash without internet.
Maybe someone can provide a safer option

That is what I am thinking..
Plus I have yet to try flashing because of having no internet.
If I could find possibly someone that knows how to change APK files and change the file tetheringmanager114.apk and just install it so it allows it to use the mobile AP and usb tethering no problem but I have yet to find it or a forum with an idea how to.

Hi,
First post here, new to Androids from Apple... I've never flashed a ROM or anything similar, I have a Nexus 4 and just bought a HTC M7 locked on Three. It looks like Three have customised (or added) stuff to the latest version - I have two questions.
1) How do I remove the Three ROM and replace with stock HTC
2) Is it possible to get vanilla 4.2.2 JB on this device?
Please go easy, trying to learn
If you search in these forums you'll find the answers to all your questions mate

Start here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38933080 to find what you need
Do a lot of research, read everything multiple times and then once more to be sure.
Take things nice and slow and you will be fine, things are a lot safer these days than they used to be especially if your backing up (which you will want to be doing)
P.s. make sure you understand the pros and cons also of what you are doing and learn how to get back to stock

I am seriously considering purchasing the dev. edition (for the 64GBs) , but never having used a device that is not carrier specific, I'm uncertain what my options would be regarding flashable ROMs. If I, as an example, got a t-mobile SIM and went month to month on their network, would I then be limited to ROMs written for the tmo HTC One? Or are the options in this specific forum the ones I should be choosing from?
I hope I've expressed my quandary clearly, and that it's not too naive - believe me, I searched.

i think your good for trickdroid rom
You'll be able to use any of the ROMs in this section.
You should also be fine to flash ROMs from the other HTC One forums (except Sprint) but the ROMs in the other forums are just copies from ROMs in this section anyway.
Thank you, Mr. Carter.

I'm trying to bypass at&t block on tethering apps in order to use my plan with my tablet as well. I rooted my phone, but every app i downloaded appears to be blocked from accessing my phone connection by at&t (they charge separately for that "honor").
Any suggestion?
Thanks
Ivan

If you want to use stock ROM, there's a WiFi tether fix in the AT&T Development forum.

Both posts found in the AT&T One Development forum. Both on first page and one thread apart. Seems to me like you didn't really bother looking or using the search function. Took me less than two minutes to find the threads and post this reply.
Most others will tell you to search on your own, so you might want to get familiar with using the forum and it's capabilities.

Are there any P1C users out here?
I figure I'm one of the few. Sadly we have no one developing for us

yep me as well came to see if anything new I'm on a buggy nightly. dunno about you but battery life is terrible for me on this, wondering if it's just the way it is or I should replace it.
Few months after the question was asked but here's another p1c user and I've got a question. Is our difference limited to the cell radio? I'm wondering if we can jump on the other builds if we don't care about Verizon any more. I only use my tablet around the house or at the gym and wifi is just fine for me. My goals in pursuing CM are: 1) loose the bloatware, 2) get some current features, 3) don't loose any performance.
Does anyone know if none p1c builds would do this or am I better served with an older CM version.
Thanks.
