I have been unable to unlock my bootloader because the driver cannot be found during install.
This has been a problem with a ZL and I realize this is a Z foum but since there is fa rmore people here...
Installing the Sony companion app installed
Zperia ZL
USB Mass Storage Device
SONY Mass Storage USE Device
I tried the procudure for bootloade runloc from the Sony Mobile site and it does installs the drivers but they all end flagged by Windows 7 and 8 as won't start.
Been doing this for 3 days and no luck.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thank you,

Same problem here...
Hi,
I've already done everything as I see in this post, but when I go to "Select your device type from the list below" I don't find the "Sony sa0107" or anything like that...
I've already installed the "Flashtool-drivers.exe" a lot of turns, but still the same... Could you please help me? There is no direct driver to install?
Thanks.

same here. after installation the driver does not pop up
If the sony driver doesnt pop up or the correct device in the list, go into settings, developer menu and enable usb debugging, then load up into fastboot again.

Hi there, I tried updating the drivers with the method you mentioned, but I kept getting this error message. Any idea how to work around it?

Follow this guide to be sure your drivers are installed correctly:
originally from @nkk71: [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
2) Q: I'm using Windows 7 what should I worry about
A: when you issue the command "fastboot boot CWM.img" (now only in CWM/TWRP restore method) there's a high chance drivers won't correctly install

follow the below instructions to fix
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install that
just in case, HTC Drivers can be found here: [Drivers] HTC Drivers for Windows - Several Versions (credits to @mdmower)
though you should already have them since you have been using your phone anyways
for those who like a visual guide:
okay so I did a fastboot boot command, and as you can see it didnt install correct driver
Open "Device Manager"
there's the culprit
right click and Update Driver Software
select Browse my computer for driver software
select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select Android USB Devices
select My HTC ... (if you have more than one version, choose the latest)
warning, select Yes
successful installation
now it looks better
and can confirm:
Code:
C:\ADB3>[B]adb devices[/B]
List of devices attached
HTxxxxxxxxxx recovery

you should be able to use fastboot commands from bootloader and adb commands from twrp. Try using another usb port and another cable.

Uninstall everything that starts with "HTC ....", then install latest drivers from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2089508
plug your phone in, what does it get recognized as? It has to be recognized as something, otherwise it's not connected (possibly bad USB port on PC/phone).

If you can get into fastboot and recovery then the issue is most likely the drivers on your computer. Start there. You may end up flashing an ruu and starting from scratch. I take it you didnt make a backup first like it is advised?

i want to flash a stock rom with flashtools, but flash tools cant flash it!
flashtools only know phone in fastboot mode correctly!
but in flashmode there is a unknow problem!
i can't boot device & can't flash it! flashtools & other ways can't flash it! i don't know for what!
but flashtools can't connect correctly to device!
i test it in other PC but no any change happend!
i know there is a problem with flashmode, but i don't know what is it!
driver install correctly & i know what i doing
so please don't say basic work
thanks for any help
Try Sony Update Service. Download from their website, install and try
i try it but even don't know phone when connect it in flashmode!
Start up Sony Update Service, select your phone and follow the stepps. At one point you'll see this pic:
Remove the backcover. If you look closely you'll see a tiny yellow button.. Use a pen or paperclip to push and hold it for a few second to turn it off (will take some time and patience because our phone has its own will xD and will boot up again) Plug in cable into phone and into pc and press volume down untill you see a green light. This indicates flashmode.
If it goes well the programm should start doing its download and flash work
the green light is showing but Sony Update Service don't start flashing & it remaining in your screenshot stat!
Got a picture for me?
On second thought:
You got flashtool installed? (and thus the drivers located in C:\Flashtool\drivers?)
picture is like post 4#
yes i install it & drivers
I mean of your phone? I mean if the phone is connected into flashmode it should work.. So I dont understand why it wont work...
@amir_n71, did you download a firmware to use with Flashtool?
yes i download
And tried ofcourse...
Prior issue now is we need to get the phone into working flashmode so that Flashtool or Sony Update Center can reflash the Firmware...
Just to be sure, did you:
a. Check if your battery had enough juice left for flashing and, if not, tried to recharge it,
b. Try to enter recovery by powering on the phone while holding Volume Down button (if you had a recovery previously installed),
c. Use a Windows computer,
d. Exit and kill any running ADB processes (Sony Update Service and PC Companion included) before trying to flash with Flasthool?
and then:
1. Power off the phone (using side power button OR by pressing the Off button under the battery cover),
2. Download latest Flashtool,
3. Install FT AND flashmode and fastboot drivers,
4. Download a suitable official firmware in a form of a .FTF file (full firmware, not just a kernel),
5. Copy that firmware to the "firmwares" folder in FT's install directory,
6. Start FT, click on a "lightning" icon, wait for the proram to finish its thing, select the firmware you downloaded, click on "Flash", connect the phone to a USB port while powered off and holding Volume Down button until FT started the flashing process?
Is that a xperia sp?

Just disconnect and reconnect. I got that a lot with my Xperia ray
Verstuurd vanaf mijn C5303 met Tapatalk

ADB drivers: None
Fastboot Drivers: None
I suggest you reinstall Flashtool. It misses some drivers. (perhaps the cause?)
And also update Flashtool... See their thread and website
i installed latest version from flashtools website!
Now install fastboot and flashmode drivers that came with Flashtool. Open "drivers" folder, run that single EXE file, select fastboot and flashmode from the list and install them.
And be careful to run the correct version of Flashtool on your system! Run "flashtool64.exe" on a 64bit Windows, and "flashtool.exe" if you have a 32bit Windows OS.
I'm having problems unlocking the bootlaoder for my Sony Xpera SP.
The part I'm getting stuck at is where I'm supposed to connect my phone in fastboot mode to the PC.
I've tried installing a bunch of drivers everywhere, followed guides and stuff, but whatever I do, I can't get the phone in proper fastboot mode.
The flashtool says:
"Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool."
First off, I can't even find the drivers for Sony Xperia SP, but there are tons for the S and P versions.
But when I try installing those drivers it still doesn't work.
I just want to install CM 11 on it, though I never thought it would be this much work.. I've been trying to fix this for over 5 hours already.
It would be really nice if anyone could help me through this.

You'll need to run the installer located within Flashtool install directory. It seems you are currently run Windows. Assuming you did not change the install path, you can find Flashtool in the root of your local hard disk. Navigate to C:\Flashtool\drivers and then execute the installer there in. Tick "Flashmode drivers" and "Fastboot drivers" cause obviously you'll require it. Scroll down a bit and tick "Common drivers for Viskan board". This will install proper flash drivers.

Afterwards for the exclusive driver for your SP (I am assuming you're on stock), Open PC Companion (install it if you don't have it) then connect your Xperia SP with your cable. This will install the drivers for your SP. If you have done this before, you actually already have the drivers installed.
Note that if above methods are well executed by you, you'll find out on the first connect, flashtool will detect the phone partially and somehow later it disconnects. Don't worry, somehow through this process your computer might be installing additional drivers. Retry to connect your Xperia SP.
Above all, do note that in order to unlock the bootloader, you'll need to connect your phone in flashmode. To do so, when prompted, while the phone in its powered down state, hold the volume down button then connect the cable to your phone.
Thanks a lot!
I'm not sure what the problem was, but over the night + installing PC Companion fixed it. Finally CM 11 is mine

Download the latest one from Microsoft website at http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab (source https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...f-335a678dd67a ) and install it manually by right clicking on QHUSB_BULK and selecting "Update driver software" and "Browse my computer for driver software" to where you downloaded CAB file.
My device doesn't stay in EDL mode for more than 10 seconds
Some units can have this problem and there isn't a lot of things to do to fix that, except being fast after plugging your phone to your computer.
MSM tool is stuck on "Param pre-processing"
Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked in first part of this FAQ.
What is SMT Download mode?
Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.

Added 9.5.10 GM31CB unbrick tool
I used the 9.5.5 MDM tool and it worked fine. Then I got the OTAs for the updates from T-Mobile almost immediately. I believe it was 2 of them.
Thanks for putting this out there! I'll swap it out with the other tool.
Mine just stays asaram pre-processing, and it shows the right device in device mgr. I am on9.5.10 but wanted to go to the international version too. Oh well... Is there a way to check that the phone is in EDL mode?
T-Mobile variant, get stuck at Param preload. Device Manager shows Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008. See screenshot below.

Also, am I missing something or is there no download for the driver OP linked in FAQ?

Fixed download link in FAQ (source https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=Qualcomm Incorporated - Ports - )
Try removing any previous Qualcomm drivers and use the one I linked

Same as above, try using the Qualcomm drivers I linked in FAQ.
The way to check your device is in EDL mode is by looking at COM ports section in your device manager and search for "QDLOADER 9008" or "QHUSB_BULK" mentions.
Should we be able to extract a boot.img from this? Would love to be able to root the stock firmware.

Which driver? I see multiple drivers that apply to win10
Ok so the download you linked turned my computer from recognizing it QDLoader 9008 to Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E. Whats wrong with the L2 Drivers from other threads?
Well thanks for the share I guess. Now I have to figure out how to get rid of the drivers you provided (Uninstall Driver doesn't remove them and cant update manually with L2 Drivers from other threads).

The L2 drivers from other threads can be outdated or not work for some persons, hence why I recommend the one present on Windows Update website (odd they didn't work for you though ...)

Damn, really?
It should normally go away after right clicking on them, selecting Uninstall device and ticking "delete the driver software for this device"

I doubt it is possible to extract it from the OPS file itself.
There is however a hidden readback mode which should allow you to extract it from your device running T-Mo software

Press F8 while in tool, select the partitions you want to readback, input "oneplus" as password, press "ok" and click on Readback button.
Partitions you selected will be saved to the root of your system drive.
Note also that your device won't reboot automatically to OOS after a readback contrarily to upgrade mode, you will need to use power button to turn it back on.

I've done this countless times and that didn't work but i figured out a work around. So I got it back the QBLoader device but the driver version is 2.1.2.0. Can't seem to find 2.1.2.2 anywhere.
I'm really thankful you put this together for us, and the FAQ after the OP has some info in it I needed but hadn't seen anywhere else.
On the other hand, I may never get to see your work. I'm looking at a 12 hour download from Android File Host. I hope I don't need to reboot my laptop before tomorrow.
Hi guys I am new to Android as you can see otherwise I wouldn't have touched one of these fake tablets at all , but the price looked good and it was for a Christmas gift to a child who would most likely drop it on the first day so took a chance. BIG mistake it wouldnt accept Family link or any decent Child security apps so it was basically useless , I watched a video on how to upgrade it and to check what system was installed it was supposed to be Android 9 it was in fact KitKat 4.4.2 so I followed the video ( to the letter ) and now it only loops the android logo . I can't find any firmware for it and am not even sure what manufacturer has the cheek to put their or it's brand to it , but I have persevered and not yet thrown it against the wall ( but i'm frikin close to it ) so please can anyone point me in the right direction to unbrick this Marvel of a Chinese Puzzle ( honestly it makes a Rubik Cube look easy ) I would be eternally grateful as would my wife who didnt know I knew so many swear words as I am 68 she should have known I had a few up my sleave lol so looking for a MTK6582 scatter file and firmware for a TS-M704A (10" model ) board marked as ZLM10 Thanks guys .

Hi Bhanu no luck I'm afraid the sp comes back with the message time out , computer is detecting and stable so now I'm completely lost. but thanks for trying to help regards Clive.
are you sure giving up so early ????
if decided to try once again, check if pc detects phone or not
how?
simple,
connect your phone and open control panel go to device manager and see if there is any vcom driver connected or not
Hi Bhanu yes the tablet does show up in the device manager and isn't jumping in and out so no interupt to connection , it just keeps timing out when plugged back in to pc on download from Flashtool. I am thinking maybe the sd is locked or damaged I don't know , been reading up a bit on these and many have had the same problems with this model just basically a load of junk lol but if you have any ideas I will more than gladly try them .regards Clive
yes you are right when i searched for your phone i found that flash drive is missing in it so tablet will not work now.
but you can try resetting it through recovery if not then its just useless.
Yeah but the only way you can do that with these phones/tablet/ dung pile lol is to have ad debugging which without a system in it you're screwed ? so I think I'm going to use it as a Frisbee ha ha . whatever you do do not buy any tablets from a company called well 4 shopping UK . Not only are they not in the UK so delivery times are ridiculous but they lie through their teeth , I suppose my own fault for buying from ebay lol thanks anyway Bhana
your help was much appreciated regards Clive PS if I ever do crack it I will let you know ..
