Hello Guys!
I have noticed the following problem: Whenever you flash a Jelly Bean ROM (be it stock Rom or custom Rom) the mac Address of the cell phone changes.
Now most people probably have not noticed this or don't care but this is a BIG problem for me because the WiFi at my office is filtered by macAddress. (My boss is getting pissed at me because I keep asking him to change the Filter's resgistry to allow my new mac).
Now, Iv'e spent about an hour looking this up and have found that many people across different devices have the same problem. I was unable, however, to find an effective solution to stop this.
As I've said this happens not only on XT890 but across a lot (or mayeb even all) devices flashing Jelly Bean Roms.
Can anyone help me fixing this (and keeping my job! )
Regards,

Hi!
I have a really weird problem with my SGS.
When I'm installing ANY firmware (I've tried every single one) except of my original FW "JPB", I can't get my WiFi working.
There are actually 2 types of Wifi behavior on the different ROMs. The first one is when you're connecting to the Wifi and you can actually open Google.com, Android Market, etc, normally. But when it comes to a "heavy" sites such as youtube, wifi connection just freezes and nothing helps before you'll close the browser and reconnect to the access point.
On some other roms you're connecting to Wifi without any errors too, but you can't actually open any site at all. And only on FW "JPB" (which is russian official) there is no such a problem.
Also Samsung Apps doesn't work on other ROMs, I even thought that it can be related somehow... I know that there's no logic here, so I'm really confused.
Oh, and even if I'm installing Voodoo lagfix on my official firmware I'm still getting into this trouble
I really want to hear your opinion, so please don't hesitate to reply.
Thanks in advance,
Jay
Hi,
let me thank you for all the help you may give me.
The problem is i get stuck on obtaining ip address or the cell doesn't even try to connect automatically so i have to manually start the wifi connection to the network after turning on wifi.
The problem of my SGS not connecting automatically is rare, the first is not, it's actually quite often.
I looked through all the guides and sugestions but i couldn't find any permanent solution for this problem.
Note: I've used the AllShare app but sometimes even that doesn't work.
Thank you for all help
The same problem kept happening with me. Some of the fixes which I tried were
Change channel on router - didnt work for me
Use the allshare app first - worked
Set up a static ip in advanced settings - almost always worked
But I have found that I didnt have this problem with other routers, only mine, maybe because of a power problem with the router.
Many of baffling errors are usually caused by bad input power to devices.
Hope it helps
Thanks for the reply, the problem is that i use it alot on my university, where i can't do any changes to their router (or use static IP).
Also the AllShare app is indeed a fix, but only if used every time i think. I'll do some more testing, this problem is really annoying and that's a shame because it complicates the use of most of the smartphone capabilities.
So if anyone else as another solution i would be glad to hear it.
Also i'm on stock rom installed by my operator Vodafone (had the same problem on JPY).
Edit: After a very quick test, it seems that using Allshare once does work, but i had the impression that sometimes it would be needed more than once (even without rebooting). TY for the tip.
Update:
After some more tests i came to the conclusion that at home i need to use AllShare every time i want to connect to my network.
This seems to be a problem affecting several users of SGS, does anyone know the answer to this problem? Or at least an app that minimizes it?
It's quite bad and very frustrating. Thanks, for any and all help.
I had the same problem with stock Android 2.2.1 on 3 phones all Galaxy S. Dropping the packages on voip calling, internet was slow most of the time. I use a linksys wrt54g with dd-wrt, I never had problems with any other devices.
My problem was solved when I installed GingerReal. Also on Miui I didn't had any problems with the wifi connection.
Maybe is just the stock driver incompatibility with some devices.
Thanks for the reply,
I've only had bad experiences with flashing, last time i did everytime right and Odin just hanged, i almost had a serious problem in my hands.
Since this is probably the first and last good phone i'll ever have, i would really like not to kill it (also some people in my family would be very disappointed, it was a gift).
So any workaround? Sorry i'm so insistent but i think that are a lot more people interested in this. TY.
hi all
Since i updated my Nexus One manually with the here provided Update 2.3.6. My Nexus One loose WiFi every 10 Seconds. On Google Support they are many Threads about this. For Example :
google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=3251939ebbad21a3&hl=en
Many users have problem with this annoying bug. I wonder why here is nothing to find about this.
Anyone here with the same Problem since 2.3.6. ?
CanĀ“t understand why no one cares here. The Google support Forum is full of the same complains about WiFi rendered useless by 2.3.6.
Nexus one
Nexus S
all areas
Same Problem after update. WiFi drops every 20 seconds and reconnect.
Is here no one with the same problem ?
I believe its been mentioned in a number of threads...
Happens to me as well, I hope Google addresses this issue.
It isn't that I don't care, but I haven't had the issue with my phone (granted, I am not running stock but am running a CM7 nightly).
I am not sure what good it would be to chime in and say that it isn't happening to me. I think a lot of the consistent xda forum respondents aren't running stock, so they probably aren't having the issue.
Hi guys,
First of all, a great (really great !) thanks to all and everyone involved with the JellyBean evervol rom, it work very very well on my dear old N1...
Well, it works very well but not quite flawlessly for me, and since I have not been able to find complaint about this on the dedicated topic in the android dev section, I post my questions here :
Since about one week ago, I remarked that my phone seems often unable to use the 3G connection : I mean I have full scale network with 3G label in the notification bar, but the logo stays grey (not turning blue) and all data request meet a deadend (chrome, news, gmail, ...) while, if I turn wifi on, it works great ...
And since 2 days ago, I started to have another trouble : my sim card just keep locking itself without (apparent) reason, I have to enter the pin code nearly every 5mn ...
No idea of what may be causing that ...
OK, I think I will in some times fall in love with the Nexus 4, but my N1 still working great with this superb Rom, I would like to wait a little (for instance, the time for Google to announce a 32 Go version of their baby ...)
So many thanks to anyone who can help me puting some additional life into this dear N1 ...
For info, I'm running the 3.1.0p1 version of the rom with a 32.50.00.32U_5.12.00.08 radio and I'm running on the Free Mobile network in France ...
I don't know what additional information I could provide to help, or any diagnostic I can run ?
Thank you in advance for your help ...
I am currently running Altonus2 V1.2 with Kernel Version 2.6.32.9-kfazz-g21797a7-dirty and first off I must tip my hat to the developers, it's mind blowing that they were able to make this work on the OG Droid.
My issues are: GPS doesn't\ work (no navigation, just "searching for satellites") and the internet crashes shortly after the browser opens. The phone runs slow but I imagine that is just a side effect from running JB on an older phone. Is there a way to get GPS and the internet working? I'm not new to flashing roms and the like but compared to the experience here I'm all but a noob to any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I believe GPS doesn't work because kfazz had to remove /system/lib/hw/gps.sholes.so because it was causing a bootloop for some people, in regard to Wifi several people have reported problems with it and getting it to connect at all or maintain a consistent connection has been very hit and miss. Keep in mind kfrazz himself said while a lot of progress has been made on the Jelly Bean ROM there are still many thing that don't work and will take a long to fix.
