Hi,
is it possible to get such apps (region restricted) as it is in iOS and Android?
You would have to change your Microsoft Account to one of that region. That will most likely lead to problems with payment from your Credit Card as it won't be accepted in other regions. Also it would mean hard resetting your phone to change the account and therefore you would have only access to the other regions Apps but not to those exclusive to your home market.
Payment is not a problem as I wanted to download free apps anyway - but if I do what you suggest I will loose other apps I got on right now that are not available elsewhere.
Not to mention e-mails, calendars, contacts, etc...
This really SUCKS!
Depends...
I wanted to download HERE Drive Beta while it wasn't available to my region, and I have changed my region in phone to USA, downloaded the app, and then reverted back to Serbia. No hard reset, no new account, no nothing.
U might try this, if it is some app that is tied to another market.
It did worked - thanks!
Looks like with free apps it is not a big issue
Thanks
I couldnt find good free NFC application in my region (Turkey). Maybe I will try to change region and search it. Thanks for this idea.:good:
Try to change Country and speek settings in the phone. So I have downloaded the DevCenter App from US Marketplace what was not available in Germany!

Hello,
I live in Poland and we still can't buy paid android apps, which really p*sses me off. Is there an alternative way to buy from the market? I don't want to use pirated software.
Pretty sure if you email the Dec of app you want they will work something out with you. Also try market enabler

Root phone, install Market Enabler which will allow your phone to pretend that it is in a different market (ie one with paid apps available). Works great. I am in Canada, which does not have paid apps yet, and use it to buy apps. This was the main reason I rooted my phone.
I live in Norway and we don't have access to paid apps yet.
I did install Market Enabler, and got access, but when I'm buying, after I've input credicard information, nothing happens. The phone tries to connect and eventually I get an errormessage that a connection could not be etablished (or something in that effect)
I chose Market Enabler 3 (beta) as I'm using a Hero ROM. (Old version does not work), and I choose o2 (de) as provider.
Any tips?
tried using Slideme, it is an alternative market that works outside of the android market.
Thanks for the replies! I rooted my phone finally (using flashrec) and by the way updated to some hero ROM (myhero-1.1.1 to be exact) and used Market Enabler. Works really well so far, I haven't had time to try to actually purchase anything yet, but I can see paid apps now.
I love the HTC Sense look and feel, but I there are some bugs that weren't present in the vanilla magic (skippy music, worse jabber integration, etc).
It's amazing how easy it is to root and flash your phone these days, I remember last time I was thinking about it the howto scared the hell out of me. And I'm a developer (just a lazy one).
Just purchased my frist app on Android Market
There was one issue, maybe this will help someone: When I entered my credit card details on my phone it didn't work - there was some kind of server error. I had to go to google checkout using browser on my computer, enter my cc details and then I was able to buy apps off android market.

Try setting up your Google checkout account using a PC based browser. Once you do that you should only be shown the price and have to confirm to buy.
That worked for me.

i did this and it doesn't work in Sweden...
thats the problem, why i cant see paid apps ? i remember that when i got my G1 and flashed Cyanogen MOD about idk 3 or 4 months ago, i could see the paid apps :S but then between i didnt even bother if they were there or no, and that i didnt have wi fi or data service, i just forget of that but now i have wi fi and wanna see the paid apps too :S but why i cant ?
it has to do with the six six six in ur name .
now go purify your soul in the waters of lake minatonka
no but realy , maybe its cuz ur country does not support paid apps , maybe ur were accessing it after it wus enabled with market enabler and since 1.6 i think thats been a lil messed up
im from Argentina, maybe thats why xD but since Moto Droid es coming here, you guys think that Paid Apps will be enabled ?
Still no paid apps in most countries
i am in China and I have the same problem.
Only 7 or 9 countries have paid apps. Google says it's because of the local mobile operators not allowing it or not having signed up for it. At the very beginning they said it's because of export & tax regulations that are different in all countries, but that should be totally bogus, because why Amazon or Software companies can sell online everywhere, just not the almighty Google?
To be honest, I believe this is more of a "test the market" type of business strategy, because - as a matter of fact - G1 and Android, etc. have not reached such a large market share and thus running the distribution for paid apps in 160 countries does indeed have cost implications that may not be justified for Google yet.
that doesn't mean i like it this way.
What really nags me is that since I used Market Enabler, Google is obviously regularly locking my account (sometimes for up to 12 hours). It happens every time i "fake" a mobile signature with Market Enabler, and when I go back to "normal" - i just can't sign in, and in that moment I can also not download any apps, INCLUDING free apps
i have a strong feeling that google has build a mechanism that checks where the user appears to be (based on the values of the SIM signature) and where he appeared to be before... and the algorithm accordingly blocks access to google account for a period of time.
It should be easy to determine, because I happen to be registered with China Mobile in one instance, and with O2 in Germany just a minute later, and maybe a few moments later with T-Mobile in the USA......
This is however extremely annoying, and considering the 230 EUR that I paid for my G1 (including google software licenses (i.e. for market, etc.) it is simply a SLAP into my face as a consumer, NOT being able to use the phone as a GLOBAL DEVICE.
As much as I like the G1 now modded up with Cyanogenmod ROM etc. I cannot honestly recommend the phone to anybody until all functions are available to be used anywhere where I have a cell connection. My work makes me travel across the continents and although I can use my laptop and download software, music, videos and everything everywhere, not being able to do the same with the G1 feels a bit like middle-ages right as we approach 2010.
I am also sick that I cannot find any complaint Email address or even phone number on any of Googles websites (try to find one, and if you can, please let me know). Any question you ask is funnelled into a Google-run user-forum or a help page, and if you are lucky there is a Google-employed Administrator, but the statements they give you are simply the "official" Google messages. There is no help at all
The worst is that they apparently encouraged users to call their mobile operators in countries where paid apps are not available yet (to encourage the mobile operators to sign up for paid apps, so google says...), and some users have done it and the reply of the Mobile Operators was that they have to sign up for expensive 3G-data-plans, which then still didn't give them access to paid apps.
Some (or Google) might ask me:
So how did you get your G1 in China (where it is not legally sold), and why do you expect it to work in China?
Well, I am German and I bought my G1 in Germany - but my work brought me to China and I do not want to leave my 230 EUR phone back home JUST BECAUSE GOOGLE DOESN'T WANT ME TO USE IT THERE.
Regarding the market enabler, it works flawlessly on my 32A magic running CM 4.2.5.

yes, my point was not that Market Enabler is not working. it is working perfectly as it should.
my point is that google prevents me to sign in to my account, causing problems for syncing, and downloading apps (free and paid).
Hello,
I want to buy a few paid apps (ezPdf, Doc2go) for nook color. But the market displays only free apps. How do I buy some paid apps?
Thanks
My market shows paid apps and I'm able to install and use them just fine.
What method to get the marketplace did you use?
Might want to try again using autonooter.
i can only see free apps there, but i think it is because of a restriction for paid apps for my country..... as i understand, there is only a few countries that can access the paid applications.
they dont want us to do piracy... but they dont allow us to pay for apps.....
i have the same problem, i heard something about a market enabler app, but i'm still a noob yet
Also have the same issue any fixes ?
i installed a program called Market Access which spoofs the SIM card information to the market so it thinks you are from an authorized country.
now all paid apps are displayed for me
the program can be found here:

This is likely your problem if you are overseas. I have a similar issue in Korea. Video games in Korea are required to have their content reviewed and rated so they are only sold to the appropriate ages. Consequently all games on the Korean Android market have been blocked in Korea because of the lack of a rating system on the Android Market.
I use an app called MarketEnabler (looks like the same thing as the Market Access app linked to you above) to get around this problem. It basically lets me access markets from other carriers in other countries. It may be available on your Android Market. Send me a PM if you are unable to find a solution on your own.
I have a HD7 purchased in India. I am unable to access the marketplace. I thought WP7 market place is available in India. Same goes with Xbox Live also

Hi,
If WP7 was not official launched in India you cannot access those features.
You must create or change your Windows Live account to a region that has WP7 official (UK, USA, Spain, Germany)
Thanks
Had the same issue.
So I have 1 official live account with India region(which I will use when WP7 releases world wide)
and an unofficial live account I currently use for downloading free apps. This one uses the address of a US Mc. Donalds outlet in Bethesda .
Cheers.
Have the same problem.
Can you provide a small guide as to how to go about it.
Btw is it possible to have to live accounts on the same phone?
Also I have already activated the phone with India all over.. so do i have to reset it to enter the fake ID?
Thanks in advance..
I just mailed HTC India regarding it since its now officially available moreover I bought the product with a 1 year warranty.
We can do this without creating ( and wasting time ) a US account
Use regedit and navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Zune\Features
You will find 3 keys in it
Apps
Marketplace
singInavailable
in all those key values add IN for example
AT,AU,BE,CA,CH,DE,ES,FR,GB,IE,IT,MX,NZ,SG,US,IN
Launch Zune. Now you will be able to see marketplace. You can make purchase with your credit card , download free apps / games.
Only catch is : after we sync it with zune , registry value changes. You might have to redo this stuff. But the advantage is that when the marketplace is launched in india it will be seemless integration.
Hi asksaravana,
Your tips was truely helpful. I could download some useful apps from the marketplace.
I recently bought a T-Mobile handset HTCHD7 from US.
I want to use it India. Unfortunately all the T-Mobile applications are US specific.
Is there any ways to get Airtel specific applications?
Regards,
Ram.

This works, but now some of the downloaded applications have new versions. How to update them. Marketplace in phone shows 10 updates, but when you click, it gives errors that not available in your country/region.
Found a way to update installed applications on phone.
Install marketplace browser.
Search for the installed application in marketplace browser.
Once you open the application page, you will see update button if there is a new version for the installed app.
Click update and update all your apps one by one.
Marketplace thru Wifi / GPRS
Hey guys, just reached this thread, is there a way any one figured out to get marketplace working either by wifi or gprs / 3G
Coz trying to browse the market from the phone shows " Not Available on your Region" - Zune works perfect.
Regards,
NVV
Solution Found for Marketplace in india
open up zune.
create a new live account from within zune. select location as US.
it will automatically sign you in .
go to your control panel - region and language.
set the location to US under the location tab.
apply the registry hack as mentioned in the above posts.
restart zune.
you can access apps , music, videos . podcasts in marketplace now.
i have been doing this.works all the time.
( you need to change the registry settings everytime before opening zune. or create a registry and that will make everything little easy )
have fun
So is Marketplace still not available in India?
I just switched to Windows Phone. I even bought an app using an Indian account and an Indian credit card. However, the only way I can access Marketplace is by making the registry changes. I can't access it in my phone.
I just uninstalled an app and I have no idea how to re-install it. Can anyone help?
I already own an android phone and bought a bunch of applications. I just rooted and installed the market on my nook using the same email address that is on my phone. For some reason the market on my nook wont let me download my paid apps without buying them again. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I tried redoing it and I have the same problem. Does this happen to anyone else? Does everyone else have access to their paid apps without having to pay for them again?
I didn't have to rebuy my apps. But market has been updated since I installed them. Maybe a newer version of market changed something.
It really doesn't make any sense. Its definitely the same account. It has my credit card information filled out already. I even tried buying an app i bought previously, just to see if that would jog it. It didn't work. It charged me and i had to refund it. I really don't know what else to try.
Nope, all of mine show up as "Purchased". Every time this question comes up it's always usage of the same account, but you say that's already been checked..
Good luck.
Thanks. It has to be the same acount or else all of my redit card information wouldn't bebon there. All of my android market reciepts go to this accout also.
Try visiting this page https://market.android.com/account and see a list of your purchased apps.
Standalone web site should be more reliable, than an app, hacked in a stock firmware, which kinda doesn't support google apps.

Now I'm more worried. The site you linked to doesn't have any record of my purchases either. My google checkout account under the same name, however, does have records of all of my purchases. Have any idea what i should do now?
did you paid the app with credit card or by carrier billing? Maybe it change something?

I always pay with credit card.
Does google have some form of actual support other than the forum?
I have nookie froyo on her now. Same exact problem. This is bull**** and definitely on googles end. When are they going to get a customer support line? I've never seen another company that charges actually money like google does in the market without having a customer support line. I'm sure whatever is causing this will cause problems if I ever get another android phone in the future.
Having the same trouble here
What kind of android phone do you have? Is it using a custom rom? I'm thinking that the problem isn't with the nook at all. It's with our other devices not registering with the market properly.
It's as I suspected. I flashed my phone back to stock and I can't redownload any applications either. My whole market account got wiped somehow.
same issue here, totally different tablet BTW (samsung galaxy tab). Same thing - I wiped and flashed a ROM (ironically, same ROM!) and afterwards all my paid apps are being asked to repurchase when I hit install. Similarly in the web market it says I don't own any apps....
I am able ot restore my apps via titanium and hilariously all licence checks for programs that implement them e.g. titanium, worms etc. continue to work thank god but Goog better fix this sh-t real quick. I have >50 paid apps so this is really really bugging me out (plus now I'm afraid to do any more flashing/tweaking)
Do you have the backup, OP?
If so, just run it instead of redownload from Play
Sure you used the same google account?
