Hello,
My Samsung Galaxy S i9000 have a broken home button, and i was wondering if there are any way of installing a custom recovery, preferably a touch recovery or any other recovery that the confirmation button isnĀ“t the home button.
Ps: All the other buttons are working.
Thanks for you atention,
and sorry for bad english, I'm Portuguese
Solved
After a little of research, and trial and error, i found out that flashing, through Odin, CF-Root (with CWM Recovery) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108) over my stock room, was the answer for me, the confirm button is the power button so it's all good.
Big thanks to Chainfire for creating CF-Root

I bought this phone and the home button not working
first i want somebody to tell if have a custom rom or is the original ICS (See attachment)
Second, how can i check the button, like before boot

looks like its running on stock rom.
you can try flashing another rom via odin, i've faced the same issue before when i removed certain apks in custom roms before flashing.
else boot into recovery mode and see if your home button can function when you make the selections.

how can i boot on recovery?
the phone is not rooted
Stock Recovery !
The G-Note has a stock recovery function as well. Just turn off your phone and hold the volume-up + Home + Power to enter into recovery. if this is successful then your home button functionality is good.

i can't restart my phone in recovery mode since y home button doesn't work
i want to root and after try to flash many rom's maybe it is not a hardware issue with home button

Try to access recovery by pressing volume up + power + home button. Are you using a safe kernel?? if not try flashing a safe kernel before doing anything else. DO NOT WIPE anything on stock ICS.

Hi, I have a galaxy s that I can't get into recovery mode.
It has stock rom and it is rooted. Everytime I try to get into recovery mode by pressing Vol up + power + home it gets me to the opening screen. Galaxy S I9000 in white and gets stuck. Also happens when I try to use ROM manager to reboot into recovery.
Any suggestions? (Thank you :])

you can try flashing (or reflashing if u already have it) CWM recovery using Odin
Hi,
I installed cwm v6 which installed correctly but once i rebooted the device - it landed on recovery mode only. And from recovery i cant select any option either, when i press home button it just scrolls down and power button also not working. I only can go up and down but no select
Help me guys. very appreciate it
if cant repair this, someone can teach me how to change to other recovery mode using ODIN
my device i9001
Try to use menu button or back button. Does it work?
You should be able to flash a Kernel for example Semaphore over ODIN. The .tar files can be flashed after you have set your phone in download mode..
thanks to all reply, i reset my phone with odin use stock rom and flash back with touch cwm. now its working
Hello, first of all I ask sorry for my English is very bad,
Now, I have a problem I have damaged the POWER and HOME buttons, and I'm on JVU stock
* cm10.2 would like to install from a recovery but without the home button I can not install it, the solution would someone pass me some RECOVERY TOUCH, maybe some serious TWRP or something, to install the rom from whether thank you very much
Search on Google Playstore for a widget that can reboot into recovery then flash cf-root to get CWM and root. http://bit.ly/RgA6YS
EDIT: CMW uses the power button to navigate so if you have a damaged power button not sure if you'll be able to use it anyway, only other option is to flash a touch screen version of CWM.
EDIT: PhilZ Touch recovery, but i think it's bundled with a CM11 kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588649
EDIT: If you can find a widget that'll reboot you into recovery mode you could flash ''Mackay CM9'' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660668 it has TWRP 2.2.2.0 recovery and it's the rom I'm using. highly recommended.
thanks

Thanks Man! but i need to navigate and select Wipe data and install zip from sd card but i dont have home button! anyway thanks:laugh:
The only thing I can suggest is to flash a rom (if you can boot into download mode) which has touch recovery, Mackay CM9 has TWRP. sorry can't help much.
EDIT: actually there's an app called "button remapper" (needs root) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464 maybe you could try remapping the faulty buttons.

In CWM you don't need home button at all. Navigating with volume buttons / confirm with power button.
I would suggest you to install Mackay ICS 2014 CM9 based. It features TWRP, it is much faster than CM10.2 and has also better battery life.
Around pages 3-5 mohammad.affaneh has posted flashable zip SystemUI (just link to it) which gives you functions power button by touching uppest right screen corner (minutes of the time). Zip doesn't work in other ROMs

You can use USB jig to turn into download mode if necessary and ADB to reboot into recovery.
Once you are rooted, app QuickBoot can do all basic boot commands with just touching a screen.
