If anyone has an issue finding stock Sound Recorder App in Atrix HD both ICS or Jelly Bean....here is a trick just via any root explorer app...go to system/app find sound recorder app there and just rename it to xSoundRecorder or anything of your choice...reboot and you will see the SoundRecorder app appearing on the app drawer. You not need to change permission.
For some reason it is in system/app but there is no icon...to browse to system/app and to to system/app, as you know, you have to be rooted!
Or you can just install this

hi guys ..
i cant set permissions in CM10 ..
using Root Explorer ..
i9000 - cm10 - semaphore kernal 2.6.6
+
i need apollo.apk .. where i can found it ??
Have you gone into settings and activated root privilege requesting? It's not necessarily set by default.
The app needs to have been allowed root access first to alter file permissions.
Also, Apollo.apk is in /system/app/

Maybe you could try es file Explorer
Or you could try to reinstall root Explorer
But if none works you have to use another file manager
Maybe your root is broken, try using titanium backup, if it's working then your root is right.

I restored some of my apps from Titanium, specifically the DSPManager. I noticed that this app doesn't work anymore on this new ROM. It crushes, and when I reboot my phone, it automatically removes DSPManager app.
There may be some problems with DSP and AOSP Roms but it also may just need the correct permissions so put the APK into /system/app with something like rw-r--r-- permissions and see how that goes. You can pull the DSPmanager off another ROM or find the standalone.
Shout out if you need any help with installing it under system

Hello.
I have a KF HD that I rooted using this process. http://androidforums.com/kindle-fire-hd-all-things-root/656683-root-kindle-fire-hd-7-a.html
I am trying to install a new launcher because I dislike the stock carousel feature. I want to completely remove it and go to a stock android look.
I downloaded the go launcher hd apk and installed it on the device. I can see the icon but it will not do anything when I click on it. Can anyone please help me?
Thanks for your time
Try installing titanium backup
Then use it to make go launcher a system app
I have very little experience with go launcher,I use nova launcher myself...

In principle, to install GO Launcher EX on rooted KFHD7 you have to:
obtain .apk file
put it in the the /system/app (using ES File Explorer, for example)
change permission: user - rw, group - r, other - r
tap on .apk file in ES File Explorer and install the appication
problem with messaging, keep getting( messaging stop working)
I read the whole thread couldn't find the answer, any help please
I actually unzipped the mexico retail ROM and used root explorer to change the default messaging apk.

thanks for quick replay, Can you help me how to do that, detailed instruction, thanks
I used root explorer and androzip.. First you'll need a stock ROM downloaded on your SD card already. Open root explorer, go to system/ app/ and look for the messaging or MMS apk. Rename it as MMS.apk.bak or messaging.Apk.bak. now go to the stock ROM you've downloaded and open it. Go to system/ app/ and look for the MMS or messaging apk. Extract it and copy it back to the root of your file system/ app folder.. Fix permissions rw-r-r reboot and you're done.

I found out a way to get the stock player to work with any equalizer it very simple and I did not actually figure this out myself I was in V4A mod thread and in that op is where I found out the trick.
All you have to do is use a file explorer such as root explorer and edit your build.prop look for a line in your build.prop "lpa.decode=true" and change it to "lpa.decode=false" minus the quotations. Save and exit delete the build.prop.bak file that root explorer makes to back it up and reboot. Now enjoy any equalizer with stock player and beats.
Just thought I would share not sure how many know of this.
