Question :
I have a carrier unlocked AT&T phone (4.1.1) I'm using on TELUS/BELL in Canada.
IF I unlock the bootloader to downgrade to AT&T ICS so I can use the Lapdock again,
Will the downgrading/unlocked bootloader kill the carrier unlocking ?
(may be this question is coming a bit too early in the bootloader unlocking adventure ?)

no once the phone is sim unlocked...thats it is for any carrier....
yes you can downgrade upgrade sidegrade almost anything
i hope that is going to be kernels and rom modified and costumized from an ICS base so we can use as lapdock.....
that is the reason i'm still on ICS ........

That's the reason I cry every night since I upgraded to 4.1.1
a bare bone original ICS (as in stock from google not from ATT) would be fine for me

I hope we will be able to flash Ubuntu for Arm on it; that will be icing on the cake.

Hello,
I found some not so used Note (european version) but it's locked on a carrier and on Gingerbread...
I want to be sure that unlocking will work (stay after reboot, etc..) either in GB or ICS.
Please confirm me this (and what's the best method/app to use).
Thanks!!

If on ice(4.04) read this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808629
If gb use jettu 1981
Does this apply to ICS Stunner and Paranoid? Does the unlock stays if update from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 (for example)?

It works on all roms & when you update you might lock your phone again to carrier. I saw somewhere some devices gets locked again after update from GB to ICS or 4.0.3 to 4.0.4.I am not sure but you can again unlock it using the same tool
Ok, thanks. What i read was some people getting the phone relocked after each reboot..

the phone will be relock if and if only your going to flash stock rom... specifically the LRK one... (that is from what I just gathered most)
I have the 64 gb htc one dev edition and I thought I understood the unlocked part, but then I saw a bunch on here about unlocking bootloaders on the dev edition and that got me confused. Is the unlocked part referring to the ability to take it between carriers or the state of the bootloader?
Assuming I root my one, I still want dev updates (ota rather than flashing roms) but I also don't know what happens if I am rooted and then take an ota update. Finally, since I won't be flashing, I don't need to unlock my bootloader, right? Thanks!

Both.
Some people re-lock their bootloaders at some point and then "re-un-lock" later on, but in general you shouldn't have to worry about unlocking the dev edition in either sense of the word .

Well first of all i would like to say hello to this wonderful community, I've been following threads and news on XDA for many years, since I got my Galaxy Spica, and I wanted to learn a bit more and become more active, especially in this "new world" that Motorola means to me, since the Moto X is the first device I own that is different from the Galaxy series... but well, nowdays I own an Latinamerican variant of the X, the XT1058 that came with the America Movil 4.2.2 ROM, and yesterday I just spend like 5 hours trying to flash the AT&T 4.4 Kitkat variant into it... until I Succeded, but i just has TOO MANY BLOAT , so I was wondering if it is posible to flash through RSDLite the T-Mobile 4.4 without Bricking the X... I have seen ppl XT053 ROMS on their XT1058, but I dont know what path should I follow...
1) Go back to 4.2.2 downgrading the bootloader and flashing a 4.2.2 rom and then upgrade to 4.4
2) Just flash over the AT&T ROM the TMO 4.4 one though RSDLite ?
I'm sorry if im asking things that may sound a bit noobish, but in Samsung phones everything was way too easy compared to this... it just took me hours to discove how to use the emulator in order to get the ID for the locked bootloader...
btw... also sorry for my english
thanks and greetings from Chile !!
Option number 2 - flash over the AT&T 4.4 with the tmobile 4.4 and it will work fine.

Is there a way to port tmobile s5 5.0 update or sprint to att s5. I know devs used to do it with the s3 alot but not sure with this whole locked bootloader thing

I don't think this is possible with a locked bootloader...
can we port a diff. bootloader ?

No. We can't modify the bootloader in any way, and can only flash stock kernels for our device specifically. That's why we can't port Lollipop from another carrier, because we need a 5.0 kernel to boot them. All we can do is pray to the AT&T gods for an update....

This is why I went with a third party sourced device , without a locked bootloader, from a company who allows their customers to use their own devices how they see fit, instead of ruling over them with an iron fist
Anyone know will get the update 5.1.1 on G900A ?

No, but considering T-Mobile already sent theirs out, i'm sure it won't be too long before it hits the AT&T variant
It's AT&T. We'll be waiting a while.

If it means the update doesn't "suck" i'm okay with waiting a while longer.
Now, will we have same rooting issue if we're on rooted 5.0 or do yall think it'll be more of a hot-fix than a bootloader update?

Good chance that 5.1.1 will be completely unrootable on locked bootloader devices.

Agreed, however, by that time, it probably won't matter for me. I highly regret taking the 5.0 update before doing root. I'm sick of not having the options I want with this phone and the daily freezes. As a long time AT&T customer with a grandfathered unlimited plan (not that that means anything, they throttle at 5GB, which I swear the FCC said was illegal), I'm about to eat the early termination fee and go to Project Fi with a Nexus 6.

So wait for a dev flash like w/ 5.0. Gocha.

What dev flash? Is there root possibilities on 5.0 on the G900A that I missed directly from Lollipop?

Not likely, it appears the only way to root 5.1 will be a custom rooted kernel which is out of the question for locked bl devices. Seems the end of root access on locked bl devices is not far away.

What about porting international roms over to what is rooted already?

That's fine IF your already rooted.. @muniz_ri was making the point that phones are coming that are not root able with locked BL.
Take the S6 Active for example, not looking to promising.

Before Christmas I say.
New s6 active just got v5.0.2. So it might be longer.
I'm going to buy a Tmobile version of the S5...AT&T LB Sux...

Well that is some sad news @muniz_ri. If you say you cannot do your usual magic, then i guess we are all sunk. I always check up on 5.whatever and it said it was out and i was hoping you would be able to modify it and keep the OA1 BL like you usually do....just to try it of course. Stock is not for many of us as you know. I will keep watching though. My installments are not done until 06-2016 and was hoping to maybe get an LG G4, but they dont seem to be having all that much luck with it, but i hear it is now rooted. by then, who knows. not a lot of money here. Thanks for you and others for keeping our device alive. I would never get an S6 or another Samsung I think. Between them and ATT, they are choking many of us. Ok, thanks again for all your hard work. Maybe u will come across something.
