Miracast support??? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys I got a PTV3000 which allows for widi & miracast wireless display mirroring. I had an Xperia Z which mirrored perfectly but my new HTC one dont ;(. I dont want to spend money on another dongle e.g. HTC Media Link. As the device has the capability. But I have not being able to connect it. 2 questions, will All Share App apk on Samsung work on the One to force it to display? or even an apk of the Mirror link app from Sony. There must be a way to connect it via an apk or something? any help would be welcome.

Google and see if you can get the APK's, install them (Hopefully they will instal) and try it mate, thats all you can really do. . .

All Share is from samsung and will not install on HTC, at least I didn't managed to install it on nexus.
I don't know for mirroring but i've used skifta for streaming media files to tv.

The phone does support Miracast for sure but you just need a app to use it.
I was able to view photos on my LG TV via the Sense gallery but videos would not work, kept saying cannot play back media.
A mirroing app like the Xerpia Z would be cool.
giotecno if you try and install it to your One and it works please share it.

[I sold the Xperia z and didn't extract the apk's so I am stuck. not sure where I am gonna find a program that will enable the miracast to mirror via wireless. what I don't understand is Miracast is going to be a whole standard why limit the phone so it just connects via your own proprietary media link dongle. Mind you with JB 4.2.2 update we might just get the wireless display option to use miracast.

Guys the PTV3000 from Netgear does work, had to reboot the phone and try all connected and was able to mirror the phone screen on my TV.

So you can play games on the TV too?
How did you switch on the mirror mode?

After loading the latest firmware on my netgear PTV3000. I rebooted the phone and one it came on went to media out in settings and the device appeared in the list and then just selected it and the mirroring started in a few seconds. works great with videos games etc. there is avery tiny lag but its more than acceptable.

Ah must be my tv then. It don't show up in media out but does in gallery.

Nekromantik try this, make sure your TV is ready for MIracast and is looking for the device. Turn off wifi on phone and then fully power off your HTC Onc and switch back on and then go to Media Output this will enable your Wifi on the phone and hopefully will see the device.

[Q] HTC Media Link HD vs Media Wifi

Hi,
I own a tablet Nexus 7.
I just bought a HTC Media Link to watching HD video on television.
But there is a problem. When the HTC is connect on television, I see the image that invites to swipe my fingers on my Nexus to see on television.
The Nexus 7 detects the HTC Wifi and connects with password. So far no problem.
Then I open the application Wifi Media to view photos and play a video.
But Wifi Media doesn't detect HTC, It only sees that android tablet.
In addition, Wifi Media does not play any video in any format on the Nexus 7 itself.
I tried several things, uninstall, reinstall, close the tablet, restart the HTC, I even reset the Nexus 7 at the original factory setting but nothing works.
However, different videos on Youtube shows that this should work.
I thought the new update for Android 4.2.2 would help but ....No.
Somebody ask you this before ?
Can you help ?

I also had Nexus 7 and I am using HTC Media Link. Unfortunately DLNA does't work when HTC Media Link is in hot spot mode, you need to reconfigure HTC device so it can connect to your wi-fi router, then Nexus 7 can connect too your wi-fi and then Wifi Media can see HTC.

Type IP address in web browser, then http page will open. You can change password and add/change wi-fi network. This is some example how it looks like: tinyurl . com / acbcdo9. I remember I had problem with that - not every wifi security type was working so I couldn't connect. I had currently WPA2-PSK and this is working. WEP should work too.
When you are connected to network you can also update firmware.
With Media Link HD I didn't use 8080 port for web page like they did in article, just default address.

[Q] DLNA Mirroring to PC

- Idea: Want to play Mobile Games on my big HD TV (has no DLNA), only solution so far: MHL Cable, but this is a pain in the a s s you need a MHL Adapter, a Charging Cable and a 5 meter HDMI Cable. b*tch please. that's no fun.
- Problem: TV has no DLNA function where i could mirror the Mobile Phone screen, else it would be solved.
Is there a Solution?
my PC is connected with DVI-HDMI to the HD TV, so if i could make my PC work like a DLNA Receiver with VLC Player or something, maybe i could get the Xperia Z find my PC in the LAN as DLNA device and stream the Xperia Screen (Games, Videos) to the PC VLC Player and watch it on my TV then like i play games on my PC.
Is this possible and how ?
DLNA will not enable you to play games on your tv. It will allow the playback of media.
You need something to mirror the phone image. Like MirrorLink. Which isn't available yet.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk HD
ok, that's what i thought in the first place.
i contacted the sony support today and they told me that i can not play games from my phone on my older sony bravia tv without a MHL Adapter Cable (Micro USB to HDMI), but with a newer DLAN TV (yes DLAN, he thought it is correct like this, in the end i told him it's called DLNA).
that's where my thoughts came from, that a pc may also be able to view the screen picture and act as a DLNA Receiver like the newer DLNA TVs.
It's not DLNA, it's Miracast. Currently no solution to have your computer act as receiver exists, but it is theoretically possible on any device with WiFi and WiFi Direct.
Remember though that wireless mirroring doesn't work simultaneously with regular WiFi and has over a second delay.

You could play limited media through your laptops DLNA server from the phone, just select your computer from the throw settings. But of course you will have to have the computer connected to the TV.
One scond delay over wifi, dude you need a new router or network config, there is a delay, but I would suggest it shouldn't be one second, this would be due to the connected device rendering the image for display not WIFI lag.
Yes as for using your tv for what you are asking MHL is really your only option

He asked about mirroring, not streaming. Streaming music or movies to your pc is easy, I just use foobar for that (music only).
Miracast doesn't use your router at all, it's WiFi Direct which means it goes directly from your phone to the receiving device. You obviously haven't tried it because there really is quite some delay. Your phone has to compress the display data on the fly, transmit it and then the receiver needs to decode it. Don't expect that too be to fast. Check some YouTube videos and you'll see there is a delay.

Yep and what do you think DLNA is??? Only streaming of various media types. So the answer is clearly NO. That was his question. And that is what I told him

Yes I wasn't referring to WIFI direct nor miracast, and neither were you in your quote stating about the over one second delay, well at least you didn't make that clear. I was referring to using wifi to mirror my screen on my Sony TV, and I state that quite clearly.

Mirroring to Chromecast without having to be connected to Wifi?

I Just bought a Chromecast and am wondering is there a way to Mirror my Samsung galaxy s4 to Chromecast without having the Chromecast connected to a wifi source?
I know you can Mirror with the "Chromecast app" while the Chromecast is connected to a wifi source.
but that defeats the purpose to me. You see I only use my hotspot with my S4 and it will of course not allow you to use hotspot while using wifi obviously.
So I was wondering if I bought the "Allcast app" if that or something like that will allow me to Mirror with the Chromecast without having the Chromecast connected to a wifi source similar to DLNA?
Thanks so much in advance!!
P.S. If I put this thead in the wrong place I am very Sorry.
please just move it if necessary.
No, Chromecast will do nothing without Internet. Because it gets the apps that it runs from the Internet...
Some folks have been able to get WiFi and hotspot working simultaneously, but I think that's largely dependent upon the ROM - and possibly luck.
Anyone know if I can mirror my Nexus 6 to my TV using Chromecast without WifI? I've gotten screen casting to work through wifi direct and a miracast dongle, but I can't get Netflix to work. I don't want to stream content, just mirror my device. So would Chromecast work for this function?

You don't need to mirror Netflix if you have a Chromecast as it has Netflix support built in and all you do is send the content to the CCast via the mobile app and the CCast takes over without needing the mobile device anymore...
And the quality will be MUCH better than anything you would get by screen casting.
But you will need internet access fr the CCast...It does nothing but boot up without one.

CCast won't work without Internet PERIOD!
Sure you could mirror your device but you still need Internet.
And there is no way to get to your TV without some device, a SmartTV with DLNA support (no go for Netflix), or a Chromecast with Internet.
And if you have a smart TV chances are likely you can get the netflix app and get rid of the Mobile device altogether....
Even if you could mirror Netflix will NEVER allow you to because it protects it's screen from being copied and even if they didn't do that the quality would be so horrible compared to a Smart TV app, Chromecast streaming or HDMI cable!
OP:
I was in the same boat as you, then I realized that I had an old razr laying around. So I turned on tethering with my note 3, then setup the chromecast via the razr. I can now cast and mirror my screen on the note 3.
Just have to keep the razr connected to my hotspot.
You know there is a thread here someplace where someone go tethering and CCast control working on the same device...
Might be worth a search.

Brex need a bit of clarification. Note 3 has carrier data. Razr does NOT have carrier data. Chromecast not connected to internet.
You turn on the Note 3 hotspot - Connect the Razr to the Note 3 hotspot. Open the Chromecast App on the Razr to connect to the Chromecast. Activate Cast Screen on the Note 3 - now can cast the Note 3 screen to the Chromecast. Is this correct?
Thanks in Advance - DJC
I have since sold my chromecast, but you are essentially right, but once set up, I did not have to do anything with the razr, i just keep it on and plugged in behind my tv.
Of course I have unlimited data, so that didn't bother me, if you are on a tiered plan, this might not be a good solution for you.

yes, n3 has data, using carrier data, but not using any wifi, just mobile hotspot via n3.

I used a Sony BDPS2200 Blu-Ray player to screen mirror Netflix from my S4 to BR/TV using T-Mobile unlimited data plan. I recently thought I could continue to do so with my Nexus 6 (S4 shot craps), but only to find out not only do I need a Chromecast, but also need cable/WiFi (found that out after buying a CCast). Cannot use phone unlimited data now. Google suckered me. Contemplating going back to Samsung.

If you could screen-mirror to your Blu-ray player, why can't you screen-mirror from your Nexus 6? Does the Nexus 6 no longer support Miracast? It's been built-in since late (4.2/4.3) Jellybean.
You *might* be able to use your phone's hotspot, but it depends on whether you can talk to Chromecast while simultaneously using the hotspot (ie, does your phone also look like a device on its hotspot LAN). Sometimes it requires a third device to control Chromecast.
Also, your Blu-ray player doesn't support Netflix natively??

The whole point is I was able to use unlimited data from Samsung Galaxy S4 phone (not hot-spot which is limited) with Netflix app on phone. Each (S4 phone and Sony BR player) had screen mirroring mode that would enable connection to my TV. If I use Netflix embedded on a blu-ray player or TV, it must have separate broadband. This is also the problem with the Google Nexus 6 and Chromecast. Must have stand alone broadband wifi (not the unlimited data on my phone).

I read [Q] Nexus 6 Miracast? to find (surprisingly) that Miracast is not available on the Nexus 6, though it does seem you can work around that. But certain apps that requires HDCP (Netflix, Hulu, etc) may be problematic.
It would work on a Chromecast, but then you can't use your phone's data connection.
If your phone can be tethered, I would try a mobile router that can share a cellular data connection like the ones from Cradlepoint and TP-Link. That assumes your provider doesn't charge you for tethering.
Turn on hotspot, connect Chromecast to hotspot, start screen casting, turn off data but leave on hotspot and it will STILL be casting without internet! Good luck!

[Q] Im Confused.. Is there a way to connect M7 to TV directly?

Sorry if this has been covered before but after searching I am now more confused than ever? The goal is to use the app Showbox (which plays movies, but only works on android) and mirror the playback on a TV. Basically mirror the M7 screen while it is playing a movie and watch it on my tv. I bought a chromecast expecting it to work but it does not because I do not have a secondary internet source. Meaning, MY ONLY data connection at my house is my phone as a hotspot and when I run Showbox from my phone, I can not use the phone as a hotspot to satisfy the damn POS chromecast to make it work!
I just need a yes or no answer, is there anyway to play a movie on my M7 and watch it on my TV, it does not matter if it is wireless or directly connected, I just need to know what apps or hardware to get if it is possible
Thank you very much in advance...

You need either one of these:
The one posted above. a MediaLink HD.
or an MHL cable. (Far cheaper than above, quality depended on the item)
or a Wi-Fi Modem that you can connect. This branches out to a few more options:
You can now use chromecast with it.
Or you can connect the modem directly to the tv via ethernet (if compatible) or wifi (if compatible) then it is app depended to mirror to screen. Internet connection may be optional depending on how you stream.

Can't cast to Chromecast

I'm trying to cast my (Tab S2 9.7) screen to my Chromecast (v2). If I use the Google Cast app it sees my Chromecast, I choose the "cast screen/audio" option then get a warning that the device is not optimised, and when I continue nothing gets cast to the Chromecast - the tablet shows a "connecting to Chromecast" message which never goes away, and the TV/Chromecast screen remains blank.
If I use the Quick Connect option on the tablet it doesn't detect the Chromecast on the list of devices.
I'm running Android 6.0.1 (stock, unrooted).
Any ideas how I can cast to my Chromecast??
Google Cast works on my T810 using stock 6.0.1, so you must have a hardware problem. I'm assuming your connection to your router is OK from both your tablet and the Chromecast device because Google Cast sees the device. But to be sure, I'd re-install the Chromecast device on your network. If that fails, do you have another tablet you can use to test it? Or have you tried another HDMI port on the TV/Monitor? Or another TV? All I can say for sure is this isn't a general problem with MM on the T810 because I use it quite often.

Samsung's Quick Connect connects via Bluetooth to transfer files. Google Cast connects via your wifi network and that's what I use. There is also a way to cast without a Chromecast device but I think that only works with Samsung Smart TVs.

Interesting....I tried casting to an old Chromecast v1 (in another room) and it worked fine. Then I tried casting to the Chromecast v2 again, and this time it worked. I hadn't tampered with the Chromecast v2 at all. So now it's working, but I have no idea why it wasn't working before....?????
Hi Guys, sorry to butt in here, but you may be able to help me with my new Tab S2 9.7 64G Lolipop 6.0 (I think its 6.0) that I got for my 70yo mum to play movies on her Sony 46" non smart tv with either the Google Chrome Cast or MiraCast. I purchased a few micro USB to HDMI MTH?2.0 adaptors, and non of them show an image on her screen. I don't want to go and buy the Samsung adaptor as its easier to change movies play and pause using VLC media player while sitting on the couch for her. Can any of you please tell me the easiest dongle I can buy to simply play movies wireless to the HDMI dongle in the back of the tv? Happy to go Google Chrome, but which model do I need? Thanks in advance guys!

The problem with HDMI/MHL dongles is that they are difficult to connect. Most of them will work if you have the patience to keep trying until the finally connect. But then, you are forced to leave your tablet within a few feet of the TV. I MUCH prefer a Chromecast dongle that plugs into the TV and uses your wifi to connect. Most TVs also have a USB port that you can use to power the dongle rather than having to plug a separate power adapter into a wall plug. Here is one on eBay that is only $17 whereas a "Google" branded one will cost about $40. You can even get cheaper ones if you are willing to ship from China.
The current software to mirror the tablet on the TV is "Google Home". But be warned, the picture is not "widescreen" or HD.

Absolutely go for Chromecast, the easiest and most reliable way to cast from any Android device to the TV.
Do NOT buy a cheap chromecast copy from Ebay, they do not work properly.
Pretty much everywhere is selling CHROMECAST very cheap at the moment in Black Friday promo deals.
Get it now while you can as the price will go back to normal soon!
