[Q] Phone Reboots on installing any app! - LG Optimus Black

Hello developers,
I recently rooted my LG Optimus Black (OS 2.3.4, version v20e). I did that with a SmartFlash tool. Everything worked fine. I have superuser and AnReboot installed on my phone.
But my phone reboots everytime i try to install ANY app whether from Market or offline(.apk). It just freezes and reboots.
I'm a new to this rooting and flashing new ROMs stuff. But I'm equally passionate about modifying my cellphone.
Please help.

Either the ROM you took was buggy, or you made a mistake somewhere... did you do a factory reset in hidden menu already? (Dial 3845#*970#) Maybe some left over files cause this kind of behaviour. If not, flash again with sft and do a factory reset afterwards

Hello,
I'm grateful to you for your reply. But I'm concerned that if I do a Factory reset, it will wash all the applications from my cell except the stock apps. I would lose AnReboot app in that case. How would go in CWM recovery mode in that case???

you could just try to re-install the ROM through recovery.
Press and hold Volume down + Home key
then press and hold the above combination and also press and hold power button for a while

Hello,
I highly appreciate your help. But i think there is no combination of keys to boot in recovery for LG P970. I just read it over here.

Look into the "Recovery" section.

Yes your apps will be gone... but after the reset, you ll just have to set up your phone again and download your apps from playstore you may also save needed data with titanium backup, before you reset your phone and restore it afterwards a bit of work, but should be worth it

Hey there!
Thanx gentleman for your advice. I did a factory reset, wiped dalvik but that didn't solve the issue. But installing a different ROM fixed the issue. I installed the Zeus ROM. It i absolutely stable and superfast ROM. All thanks to Heuxx. Anyone else having the same problem, follow the same procedure, install custom ROM. You can find everything about Zeus ROM over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454274
I have a last doubt. Please clarify me about the kernel stuff. Do we need custom kernels for some specific ROMs ?? If yes, how do I figure out which custom kernel should be flashed for that specific ROM??

Phone is f**ked help!!!!!

Well i rebooted today and when i turned the phone back omn i kept getting android.process.acore has stopped working over and over again so i cannot use my phone.
I tried booting the phone to recovery but it just freezes on the LG logo i help down the down volume button and held the power button to do this, i installed clockworkmod using the rom manager and it worked fine then why isnt it working now wtf use is a recovery if it doesnt work when its needed.
I was using the stock rom v10d.
Ok just as i posted that i managed to get into the recovery but there isnt much i can do to fix an issue that came from absolutely no where, i tried clearing the dalvik cache and fixing permissions and then rebooted and now i dont get that process.acore force close but now there is no writing on any of my menu options at all my icons look wrong and also have no writing on them.
Well, if any attempt for recovering the phone the working state fails, you should be able to download a program called nvflash and flash original rom again Just look around here, you'll find everything you need
yeah try this here, think it fixes 99.9% of problems

I used smartflash and flashed the stock rom again. Not sure if i should root again error like this happened on my old htc dream only after root. All i wanted with root was to remove some of the crap lg apps like car home the weather thing that keeps connecting online without asking me and to install ad free to save bandwidth but noooo phone must have the equivalent of a bsod and die.
No, it wipes /data

just like few others said use nvflash. also be careful what you freeze or root uninstall. The lg crap u may think u don't need might be a hooked to the kernel or may have a dependent process.
just flash your rom again wouldve been an easier fix i guess.

I just restored my phone to stock rom using rom manager.. After rebooting the phone just keeps on blinking like every two seconds with the LG symbol. Is there any solution to fix this ? Please help..
can you get to "recovery mode" ?
pull out battery, does it still do it when turned on again?
i had this when i used (Rom Manager) to restart my fone into recovery once, it doesnt correctly follow instruction some times.. however manual CWM usually works.

which ROM you were in before?EXT3 or EXT4?
if you gone back to Stock, u used a smartflash method?did u do the three wipes?switch off the phone, then hold vol down + power key button until you get the second greyish LG logo and then choose wipe data/cache and dalvik (to make a fresh an clean flashing)and reflash the stock ROM...it should be fine then.
hope it helps
from reading the log (as it quickly fly's up the screen) you will see it does this automatically
try nvflash and try to update your recovery.. if your using cwm recovery use 5.0.2
thanks for the help guyz.. its fixed.

strange behaviour of my galaxy

hey folks,
today, i changed the sim card of my galaxy to see if my new contract already has service. it did. but that is not the story. i changed the sim card back an booted the phone. unfortunately, i wrongfully plugged the sim in so that i had to turn it around. unpatiently, i removed the battery while android was already booted but the widgets and stuff weren't loaded yet. then turned the sim card, plugged the battery back in and now the phone doesn't start anymore. first i'm seeing the galaxy s gt-i9000logo. after that follows galaxy s and underneath cyanogenmod in letters. but the fancy animation of cyanogen doesn't start.
i am able to get into download mode but not into recovery (cwm). i'm on cyanogen mod 9 build 17 of teamhacksung (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363593).
any clues what happend to my phone and how to make it work like a charm again?
thanks!
First try cleaning cache and dalvik from recovery and boot else clear cache/dalvik and then re-install rom again.
how can i clean the cash and dalvik if i can't get to cwm?
If you have titanium back installed then there is an option to clear it from its menu.
well, i have titanium backup installed on my phone but how can i access it?? maybe you could give me a short guide?
I've had this a couple times, try holding down 3 button combo while you are charging the phone. If you manage to get into recovery i highly doubt clearing cache etc will help. If you're able to get into cwm you'll prob have to reflash rom otherwise use Odin :/..

Oh sorry i thought you are able to switch on the phone.
Flash a GingerBread firmware which has 3 different files PDA, MODEM and CSC. If you don't have a FW with 3 files, download this http://androidadvices.com/valuepack-update-samsung-galaxy-face-unlock-i9000-xxjvu-236/3/ I used the Odin v 1.85.

First try to do a factory reset, its faster...
1-Turn off the phone.
2-Press "Vol-" and Power button
You'll be now in Android System Recovery (if everything its OK)
3-Select "wipe data/ factory reset, press power button to execute
4-You'll be in the next screen, you should choose "Yes -- delete all user data", press power buton again.
5-After the reset the menu will appear again, you just need to press the Power button once again to restart the phone.
If it doesn't works, than you need to re-flash.
Say how it goes and if you need just go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861854
Good luck

If soo, I think that you'll need to flash it
You can wait for a second opinion, or flash it now (maybe it will be faster...).

I don't know if I understood very well...
you re-install the firmware (I suppose that you flash the phone...) and even like that you have problems?
You shouldn't, when we flash, we install everything from factory, soo, everything should work with any problems.
You didn't use any other method than the normal one to re-install the firmware?

The only advice that I can give you is, do the factory reset, flash the phone with the latest firmware (don't know from where you are... depending on that depends what version you can use) and now if you still have problems, you gonna need someone better than me, sorry...
When I boot looped I used adb android commander and pushed manually the framework/app folders..
Then format via recovery all was good then

Next time use version 2. I had no problems with that.

I think, you forgot copy app/framework to sdcard or use other firmware version (is not v10F).
you should flash new firmware via software update again.

[GUIDE] How to revive HTC Salsa from a bricking

Credits to-
BigBearEvo- For making important modifications.
kashttl- For informing about errors with ROM Toolbox.
Introduction-
In simple language, bricking is just making your phone unusable. But as we go deeper in this world of rooting, we find ourselves reading posts with terms like “soft-brick” and “hard-brick”. So what is the difference?
Hard-brick
Hard-brick is when you mess up with your boot image while updating, or when you snatch your phone's USB cable while an update is going on through PC. Or even worse, you flash a ROM @ 0% battery.
Soft-brick
Soft-brick is when you fail to clear your Dalvik, forget to format/wipe data, which leads to your phone going into a bootloop i.e- keeps playing bootanimation for a long time (15 mins or more). This generally happens when there is some mismatch of Android Virtual Machine with installed apps. Or for us, the phone is stuck in White HTC logo screen.
So how to get your phone back to life in case of-
Hard-brick
Sorry boss but your phone is dead. Reviving it will be more expensive than buying a new one. Also this task is done only by a few specialists.
Hard brick can be solved in case of improper flashing of RUU or updates on Stock Phones. you require USB drivers to be installed along with HTC Sync.
You Need the proper RUU designed for your area model.
Load phone into Bootloader screen. Run RUU from PC. you may have to do this several times and follow instructions carefully. You will eventually you load the RUU and have a working phone.
This isn't for the Noob to do. Recommendation is see a service engineer, or seek good help from users that have done this. each Hard brick can be different, dependent on what they did in the first place
Soft-brick
Hmmmm.. Something can be done-
A> First pull out your battery.
B> Put it back.
C> Press Power and Volume Down simultaneously till you enter fastboot screen.
D> Get into recovery mode.
Now you have 2 options-
i> Restore to one of your previous backups.
ii> Flash stock ROM or some other stable ROM.
Precautions while flashing-
A>Firstly DO NOT flash using ROM Toolbox or apps with similar functionality. (Credits- kashttl). People from HTC Desire forum faced a lot of hassle in doing so.
B> Don't just snatch your USB Cable while transferring ZIP file from PC to SD card. It will lead to CWM recovery Errors.
C> Have at least 50% battery charge in your phone before flashing any ROM, minimal level is 20% as 5% battery is used when flashing.
D> Always do a Triple wipe before flashing ROM. (Data/Cache/Dalvik)
E> Always do a Nandroid backup of current ROM before changing into a custom one. (Recovery or Rom manager)
F> Follow any other special instructions (If any) while flashing.
G> If you end up with any problems with a certain ROM, please post in the ROM thread ASAP.

Remove battery and get to hboot menu. Hold volume down key then then power on while holding down.
If u have recovery, boot into it and wipe everything. If not, factory reset on hboot and try to reboot. Seems what ever u did has buggered it and u have to start over.

Depends on the stage you got to. did you try to flash an RUU for your area? if you did it would have wiped your recovery program off. if your didnt and still have cwm installed, please go to another rom that takes your fancy and follow flashing guides from there. more info would be helpful though.

If the USB wasn't detectable it means your pc/laptop does not have the correct programs installed to find it. IE adb etc & java sdk/jdk installed.
try the other methods first though as it should work out easier
