how is the battery life ?
camera (still and video) ?
audio quality ?
pls describe any unique features also if any !
and mainly does it support usb otg ?
thanks..
Go for a Note II, you wont see much improvement if you choose the Atrix HD. Besides it doesn't have a lot of development yet, and the battery life is not that great.
At least If I had the Note, I wouldn't pick the Atrix HD
You can EASILY put into Atrix HD 3300mAh Droid Razr MAXX's battery (EB40) and battery life will be DA BEST!!
With that battery phone is actually 1,5mm thicker!

And any comments about camera video and audio quality??
And usb Otg??

+1 the atrix HD isn't "better" than your note. Not only not much development consider in its really old, its barely got any accessories available. Battery is quite bad.

Dude, we've been unlocked for 4 days now....you gotta be more patient for the development to pick up.
Battery life isn't that bad when the rom has been debloated -- I get around 24+ hours per charge on a slim Mex Retail; plus there's the MAXX battery mod...
The camera is good enough to take decent pictures in decent lighting, especially if HDR can be effectively used. Personally, I don't judge a phone by the camera quality since a phone's camera will never compete with an actual camera (at least not for a few more years).
If you can get an AHD on the cheap then its a good phone.
I was going to up some pictures I've taken, but I accidentally wiped them in a factory reset...they were private on instant upload, but they're gone from there too. I had two that were the same, only difference was HDR on and off (bobtail kitty on a Harley seat sleeping)

I agree, but that's been my experience with ANY cell camera. Some are better than others, but if someone is really into taking pictures all the time they're better off just getting a dedicated camera.
The AHD is a really good phone and the unlocked bootloader makes it that much better. This is a Motorola phone with an unlocked bootloader so we get the best of both worlds -- unlocked bootloader and superior Motorola build quality. We buy Moto phones because we can throw them full strength at a tree and it'll bounce off and won't break, not because they take good pictures.
The worst I've ever done to a Moto Android Phone was wear out the volume buttons with CWM (Bravo) and drop it 8+ times onto concrete before the screen cracked (again, Bravo). I had an Old School Moto RAZR flip that I ran over, threw at a tree, literally ripped the top half off (no screen at all) and it worked for 3 months untill I upgraded the contract and got an iPhone3Gs (ugh) and traded that for my first Android phone -- Motorola Bravo.
The worst thing about Moto phones now is that Dan isn't gonna make root exploits for us so I either gotta start buying the Dev Editions or switch to another brand, probably Sony.
thanks for your time guys !
i will think about it and decide accordingly !
thanks..

Atrix HD has a gorgeous screen and build quality. My sisters are using Note and Note 2. Software is good but the build quality sucks. It's all covered with plastics. Doesn't seem to be a high end smartphones.
If you don't mind with prices and build quality,go for Note 2. Note 2 is almost half price of Atrix HD. I would consider buying a notebook over a phone with the same high price.
Camera quality of AHD is almost same as Note in a good light condition. But in a low light it's worse. Sound via speaker is better than Note. But,I haven't compared both in headset quality.

I had a nexus 4 16gb. Got it on the 2nd round in Nov 2012. Got it RMA replaced Dec 2012. No otg, no external storage. It has interesting features, you have to buy miracast device, compatible qi wireless charging and NFC is iffy. Worked fine, but IMHO a boring bland device. I tend to do more with the AHD as is..
I personally only root for adaway and a few root apps.
N4's camera isn't any better, but it's battery life is. Its also less bloated.
I also get much better signal with the AHD. That said its my backup phone until the xphone drops.

I agree. I currently have an Atrix 2, which doesn't even have an unlocked bootloader. And even for that phone, the XDA forums are fairly active, with new JellyBean-based ROM builds coming out several times a month. For example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050705
I would expect that the Atrix HD, being a newer phone with an unlocked bootloader, will see at least as much development as the Atrix 2.

Should I buy a droid 4?
And what are the pros and cons?
Online video reviews are way to biased
It's all up to you. If you MUST have a physical QWERTY keyboard, then it's probably one of the best choices, but here's my own list of pros and cons:
Pros:
-Decent dual core processor, can be overclocked up to 1.4 GHz using myfishbear's scripts
-One of the best hardware keyboards you can find on a phone
-Build quality is good, feels sturdy
-Call quality is clear, haven't had any dropped calls
-Screen is pretty bright when you need it to be
-Loudspeaker is... loud.
-4G speeds are supposed to be good, but I haven't tried
-8MP camera with 1080p video
-Docks available (I use a Motorola Atrix 4G dock that I bought for a cheap price, modified it a bit and works fine)
-Global use possible due with GSM
Cons:
-Screen's Pentile - nowhere near as clear as a non-pentile screen, e.g. HTC One X, it's not HD, and black levels aren't low enough at high screen brightness
-Camera's photos may be slightly washed out, definitely doesn't beat an iPhone 4S (as much as I hate to admit it)
-Limited ROM activity, like most Motorola phones (but there are good ones available)
-Accessories limited, as with all hardware keyboard phones (few choices in cases, etc.)
-Interface lags behind slightly at times, but very little
-Internals are outdated as of 2013, since quad-cores are the rage now
-Battery life won't last with heavy use
At present, the Droid 4 is close to the best you can get with a hardware keyboard, but don't expect the screen to astound you like the newer models' would. If you want a hardware keyboard and can wait, I'd suggest waiting for a successor, maybe a Droid 5.
Droid 5? Somehow I doubt that will ever come out. :-/

If you're mainly going to text, I can't see why it shouldn't last a day - as long as the screen brightness is kept low, and the Wi-fi off. You should try one out if you can first, to see if the screen's not a bother for you.

JB was announced, but unlikely before summer imo. You got shafted my friend. People who are having problems, ie broken droid 4s are being given droid razr hds. I only use keyboards, thus only the droid line....put your phone in 3g and be happy. Batter life isn't bad per se, it is small however at 1785mah. Other than that, the phone is excellent. Screen is too bright for me, but that can be fixed.

NO NO haha ide never do such a thing
i went to verizon and got my upgrade to razr HD (payed $199)
then verizon has a rebate for $50 (so take of $50 from that and now I only payed $150 for razr HD)
then met guy from CL, he gave me $50 plus a new droid 4
so in all actuality I only spent $100 to get this phone (with contract)
and I just bought the droid bionic lapdock (i read reviews and all says it works, even with ICS)
Im excited for that to come in the mail in a few days!

Ya ive had it a few days and overall love it
I just bought a lapdock for it as well
The only issues I have with it are the lag it seems to have once in a while and the battery is pretty bad.
But besides that I have to say I love this phone
Now I think droid 5 is possible...moto recently released that keyboard phone for at&t or sprint photon q or atrix q or something like that
So we will find out soon enough
i would recommend trying to freeze unnecessary apps. and uninstalling the bloatware. sped mine right up to 400mb free memory. now i can run any number of my apps and the multitasking works great too on ics. even after a reboot. didnt want to run a custom rom so i sorta cleaned up the stock to suit my needs with the root script and link2sd.
JB is supposed to be released soon. within the next 8 weeks i think, so will be looking forward to that. and we'll know if a droid 5 is on the way by the end of february.
would love a 13/16mp camera, 2 or more gigs of ram droid 5 with the new flexible unbreakable screens. that would pwn.

Do you think this would be a good trade? I have always liked Motorola, but my main questions...has the camera quality improved with the Jelly Bean update? Is the camera quality as bad as the reviews say? I'm not even how sure bad the quality was before Jelly Bean. Also, how is the speakerphone quality? Is it clear/loud?
I think the camera quality is great no problems here and the speaker is loud and clear definitely!! My friend has a s3 and I would definitely take my HD over it. The quality of this phone is way better than the s3 also!!

I had a chance to get an S3, I prefer the Atrix. I can't really say anything about the quality of the camera because I've never really payed attention to it, and I don't use speaker But the ROMs here are really starting to pick up and all that's left is the camcorder, and we've got amazing devs such as dhacker29, hashcode, and the famous dan rosenberg was here a while too. Dhacker and hashcode are working on a 3.4 kernel so it'll get good soon. And i think the community here is awesome and give the best advice. In my opinion i think the atrix is a good trade
Your s3 camera is superior to ours just because of Sammy's software. You may notice a difference. Lowlight shots are pretty bad on the ahd. Otherwise its a good camera. Motorola has a better feel and build quality over the s3 any day.
Sent from my MB886 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
What they said. We buy Motorola because a Motorola is the only phone I've thrown pissed off hard from a truck at 25 miles per hour into a tree 30 ft away (a one in a million lucky shot), have that phone get rained on over night, and still work just fine without a scratch in the morning when it was found -- a razr flip phone....Only 25 mph cause you can only accelerate so fast on a gravel road
The camera will do in a pinch in decent lighting. Its not the worst but nothing to really brag about either. I will say that the HDR photos look good in stock jellybean, even in sup par lighting. Customs roms don't have HDR yet, or camcorder, but it's being actively worked on by talented developers.
Its a very solid device. I traded my One x for it and I'm very happy. Build quality is great and battery life is better than the One X. I feel as if the camera is good but the software is lacking. When using Instagram everything comes out crisp and clear. When using the stock camera pictures come out grainy. The speaker is loud without being muffled. Development is really starting to pick up which is great. Great phone.

Thanks for all the input! I have decided that I am definitely going to trade. Seems like a very solid device and motorola has always made good hardware. At least the camera "issues" can always be improved with software.

When I upgraded contracts earlier this year, I could have gotten the S3. I looked on XDA and saw the difference in development, but thought, its a Motorola, it'll pick up...never did I imagine that a few weeks later we'd be unlocked and the development would REALLY pick up. This is the best of both worlds. Motorola Quality with Unlocked Bootloader Development -- you can't ask for much more in the Android World.
I'll also say that our Development Team are some of the best devs on XDA. The things they've accomplished over the years is amazing -- I've followed some of our devs since I first started using Android.

The S3 has everything this phone has and more, including a better camera and custom ROMs with not only everything working, but also tweaked kernels that don't cause the phone to randomly reboot or have horrible battery life.
There is literally no reason to trade the S3 for this phone unless you drop/throw your phone at a wall constantly.
The battery life has a simple solution. Put the eb40 battery in. Then it trumps the galaxy. And I haven't had any random reboots on any of the new Roms.

Been running maxx mod with NO SWELLING. And build quality on s3 is sh!t. My phone shouldn't creak when I hold it. Everything else is great because Samsung doesn't secure their sh!t and the devs had A 6 MONTH HEADSTART ON US.
Why don't you trade for a s3 and be gone, or stay and HELP US. Cuz we are doing our very best to even have custom Roms. Do you want to go back a couple months to that purgatory we were stuck in? In a couple months maybe it'll even be up to your standards. Or maybe you'll find ANOTHER ISSUE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT.

Looks like LG G2 is the premium cousin of Nexus 5. With only 2300mah battery, and low spec camera, I am glad I got the G2.
http://www.gsmarena.com/leaked_nexus_5_log_reveals_most_of_the_specs-news-6876.php
Most of the stuff is no surprise – a 5" screen (actually, 4.97") with 1080p resolution, 442ppi pixel density, a Snapdragon 800 chipset with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage (on that concrete model, there might be others with more and hopefully not less storage). The phone ran Key Lime Pie (a.k.a. Android 4.4 KitKat), build version KRS74H.
It seems that the camera has been changed to an 8MP snapper (the Nexus 4 also got a lower-res camera than the Optimus G it was based on). It's too early to tell if there will be optical image stabilization (probably not though). There's a 1.2MP front-facing camera too.
The Nexus 5 will pack dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GPS connectivity. The model whose log file leaked ran on North American LTE bands, but we should expect a Euro version too.
Pieces of the leaked log with the salient info
The phone will have wireless charging built in and while battery capacity wasn’t in the logs, FCC docs point to a 2,300mAh unit. There will also be a full set of sensors – accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity and light sensors as well as a barometer. The FCC measured the phone at 131.9mm tall and 68.2 mm wide, there's no info on thickness.
A case maker, SPIGEN, puts the Nexus 5 launch date at October 31, a month from now.
Thanks for the tip, Emanuele!
I spent most of last night snapping pics and a birthday party. After 2 years with my gnexus I realized how nice it is to have a great camera. I don't care that it's 8 mp. But I freaking love ois.

It looks good cause its 13MP camera...
GNex's camera serves me well enough for daily snap. It was nothing to boast about.
What I hated most about the Gnex is the battery life with never ever lasted me the whole day, especially at night when you go out with friends, that is when you want your phone most.

Not true. Megapixels on cell phone cameras don't really mean ****. 8mp or 13mp, its a way higher resolution than it needs to be... No ones printing posters from their cell phone photos. Sensor quality and speed, iso performance, and compression/processing are all much more important. Which is why my 10mp DSLR takes way better photos than my 13mp phone or 16mp point and shoot.
Its still probably very likely that the N5 camera will be worse. But it won't be because of the lower mp sensor. It'll be because Google is going to cut corners wherever they can to get a $300-$400 price tag.

My brother has been in the printing and imaging biz for about 40 years and he says the same things. All those pixels are good for cropping smaller pics from big ones or printing posters but it doesn't help the quality of the image any.

Its 10 mp by default. 13 mp pics are squares. So, my comment on amazing photos are based on 10 mp pics. I'm amazed people still say mps matter. How many times has that theory been crushed. IPhone 5s is 8 mp and it CRUSHES the s4s 13 mp camera.

I agree with you about the battery life. The Galaxy Nexus had absolutely horrible battery life. The Nexus 5 has me interested but I'm still looking at the G2 as an upgrade to my current phone which is a Note 2 mostly because of the battery.
Yeah so true, what is the point of snapdragon 800, and 5"screen of the phone won't last you through out the day.

If people don't buy Nexus devices purely based on price, then they are nuts imo. There are always better phones hardware and specs wise out there that can easily have an AOSP rom flashed to it.
I always buy a phone that suits me the best and then I can always flash an AOSP rom if needed.

Especially with the upcoming Cyanogen CM ROM app coming to the Play Store, will be easy as pie to install the latest CM ROM on your phone, even if your not comfortable rooting, and flashing rom's yourself. Now will be super easy. Just need a phone that has an unlocked bootloader out of the box, and no funny ATT or Verizon lock down on it, which the G2 I think is developer friendly, and is in LG's best interest to gain support from the community, I think LG is in the Android position, like Samsung was back in the Galaxy S2 days a few years ago.

So youre saying youre going to buy one?
Unless the Nexus 5 announcement pulls a ton of surprises, I don't see how it could be a bigger draw to get it over the G2, besides the significantly lowered pricepoint of course.
2 weeks ago, I was in a bit of a dilemma over getting the G2 then or waiting it out for the Nexus. I'm glad I sorted that bit out.
Loving the G2 more with each day!

Is the G2 unlockable? I see there is TWRP and stuff but I don't see any root or custom roms yet. I like the G2 but ain't no way I'm going to be a frontrunner after the G2x burned me.
I'd rather have the N5 with lower specs then the G2 IF LG isn't going to support it.
My 2yr Galaxy Nexus running 4.3 AOKP is plenty fast and absolutely a beast on Battery (stock 2100mAh extended). I'd hate to get rid of it but the OMAP CPU is showing its age. Otherwise the best phone I have ever owned. I'll make a choice in December to see where the G2 and the N5 are. In a perfect world, with the N5 is close in hardware, ROMs could be ported back and forth easily allowing one to have the better spec'd G2 with all the development that comes with a Nexus.

You haven't used any other phone. The gnex is slow and Verizon 4.3 has terrible signal.
Hopefully that 8MP shooter is something like the Exmor R featured in the 5S.

I love CM and AOSP.
At the moment my SGS3 is running Android 4.2.2 CM 10.1. It is now very good but it arrived later then 4.3 stock on my N4.
AOSP 3rd party ROMS will always be at least 6 months behind official Android on Nexus.

Hello mate, I actually had both phones and I would highly recommend the Xperia Z1. The only aspects where N5 beats the Z1 is the software updates, developmental support and a more compact form. Check out my video comparison between the two:

Im sure it is, however, based on beer goggles the day of my reply and the fact that N5 is a fairly physically challenged device, I do apologize for not 'metaphorically' extinguishing any flames that may have otherwise saved a perfectly good yet otherwise beautiful device and I might add, that only a mother could love.

Battery life is best by far I have ever had, and the measly N5 battery tilted my decision between N5 and Z1 towards the latter. I haven't been disappointed. Phone is rock solid, lasts through an entire day from morning to midnight with heavy usage, camera is actually pretty good, and despite the viewing angles (which don't bother me) the screen is also excellent.

Totally agree with you, I've had exactly the same feeling/iter....
I had the pick of the litter and lived with each of the big hitters for a few days each and at first the Z1 was my least favourite with me leaning more towards the G2, but the solid build, brilliant camera and pace of the handset just won me over, I've got no regrets on my purchase.
On a side note, development is the only thing that has put me off since, but as soon as that bootloader is sorted, it'll be cool and rom's will be flying in.
You could possibly hold fire until it's done, cos if they don't ever fix the bootloader / camera issue then it'll be a travesty and i will be killing some Sony employees.

As far as 4.2.2 works well I'm fine with the fact that we're stuck here (for now). I think that Android version doesn't matter as long as the phone works well. I bought my Z1 a week ago and before that I was on X10 with gingerbread and I didn't had any problems with that. I tried custom ROMs with 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 on it but it had some bugs (like camcorder not working) and the most important thing is that everything works fine.
About being light, I believe that Kit Kat is. But faster!? I'm using my Z1 for a week now and I installed tons of apps, I'm playing heavy games and listening to music in the same time, then switching between games, browser and poweramp and the Z1 didn't lagged not even once! This phone is a beast and I think that it can't get faster than this.
I would really like to get Kit Kat but the 4.2.2 works perfectly so far and while it's so, there's no rush for an update. Being faster (which is almost impossible) is not enough for an update. I'm hoping to get even better battery life and better camera in Kit Kat (4K video recording maybe!?) and some other improvements. Otherwise, the update wouldn't make any sense.

This is what I mean. It can be done but the Updates from Sony are close to nothing. Nexus 5 do not have this problems and the OS is always improved. I prefer Z1 anyway but I will be happy to have some updates soon as is possible, otherwise I have to flash some Rom.

Hey people. So I've been inactive for quite awhile. I used to be lurking at the Xperia Z and HTC One section. In the past year I've used tons of flagships. Starting with the Xperia Z from the iPhone 5. Soon I moved to the HTC One. Not long after, I moved to the iPhone 5s. Recently, I managed to snag myself a Nexus 5. Been using it for awhile so I'd thought its time to clean the dust off this account and be active again.
Here's my honest fanboy-free review of the Google Nexus 5. I've used various brands of phones for the past year so I hope that I can share my experiences of the Nexus 5 compared to the others.
Nexus 5 Review
The Nexus 5 is a "cheap" phone. For $349 off contract for the 16GB version, it's quite the steal. Not to mention the flagship specs! What more can we ask for a device priced this affordable?
Build Quality
Phenomenal. Call me low standard, but I think the build is great, at least for the black one. Sure, it's no HTC One or iPhone 5s, but the soft touch back feels awesome. Period. It feels great in the hand and is kinda resistant to scratches. Mine looks mint even after so much use! The build is great; it doesn't flex, and is sturdy. Did I mention how nice the soft touch back feels? It does catches fingerprints and oils from your hands though. But just wiping it off with your fingers will make it look new again.
Power Hungry
The Nexus 5 is full of power. With a Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM and the Adreno 330, it will take anything I throw at it. The only issue I had with performance is Real Racing 3. I have the occasional frame-rate drop on that game but other that, it runs like butter.
The UI is smooth with no lag, multitasking is a breeze. There's really nothing else I can ask for.
Pure Google
The Nexus 5 comes with the latest and greatest of Android, 4.4 KitKat. As of this review, there has been 2 updates to far to bring it up to 4.4.2.
The Nexus 5 also comes with the latest Google Now Launcher, and I love it. I've never used Google Now before as it was too much an hassle for me to swipe up to open it. Now as it's fully integrated into the launcher, I find myself using it. A lot.
The "Okay Google" hotword detection is beyond cool. I like showing it off to my friends and they all think its cool. Some people find it a waste of battery. For me, I use it a lot as I'm a student who relies too much on Google. Being able to do Google searches when eating and not getting the sauce all over the phone is useful to me.
As for hangouts being the default SMS app, I think it's a matter of personal opinion. I find it okay. Anyway, it's android! The default messaging app can be changed easily.
Sure, icons are huge. What's the big deal with that?
Eye-opening Screen
The screen is absolutely fantastic. Colors are accurate and the screen is super sharp.
It's great for watching videos and for reading books on. The screen looks like its popping out at times! In fact, I'll go as far as to call it the best screen on a smartphone. Period.
Camera
Meh. Camera quality is okay. Nothing fantastic but it does the job. I find it better than the HTC One in terms of sharpness but in low light, its just no good.
If you are looking for the best camera in a smartphone, stay away.
Speakers
Simply put, its not good. The sound quality is just not good. Sure, its no BoomSound, but still. Its not the best, but it does its job well.
Oh well, for a $350 smartphone with monstrous specs, there's bound to be compromises. I guess the speakers is one of them.
(Edit)I came from the HTC One and therefore my expectations for speakers in smartphones may have increased greatly. I think that the speakers on the Nexus 5 is sufficient, but can be better. Just my 2 cents
Battery Life
At first, it was not good. I had to bring my portable charger everywhere I went. But over time, it has improved. I now can get 6 hours on screen time! I know, crazy right? I guess I had to "break" in the battery.
Call Quality
The earphone used for calls is great, I can hear the other party clearly and they can hear me clearly.
Bottom Line
Is it worth it? Yes. Should you get it? Hell Yes. For the price, its really, really worth it! Furthermore it's from Google; guaranteed updates for the next 2 or so years. It runs great, it's smooth and I really like the Google Now Launcher. I'd choose this phone over the iPhone 5s or any other phones!
This phone really is the best android phone yet.
P.S. Please give me feedback on my review! Please correct me if there's any error! Thanks for taking the time to read this!
I think there's nothing wrong with the speakers. I don't think they're bad or anything. I went from a Note 2 to Nexus 5 and I barely notice the difference between speakers. Sure it's no HTC One-quality speakers but they work fine.
A fantastic review I must say!
Cheers mate!

I gotta say the speaker location is awesome, but the speaker itself is lacking.
Atleast it wasn't placed on the rear.
Camera is good enough to capture moments. Nothing to brag about.
Other than that, everything else is awesome.

Reviews are subjective so there isnt really any scope for error.
Please don't take this the wrong way but there are loads of reviews here and although yours may be the most comprehensive, because they're subjective - it doesn't really offer much. Take 10 reviews, all 10 may agree on 1 point and disagree on another....
