Hello,
One picture in Zoe is uploading something like 20 pictures to Dropbox, is there any solution to fix this?
Cheers.

Trying to upload a single picture or a 3 second zoe or a 30 sec zoe video? A 3 second Zoe takes around 20 pics I think, maybe just use one of those pics to upload.

I've got auto sync and it's uploading 20 pics and a video.
Same here into Google +
Not found a way to solve this yet...
It's not a problem it's just how the zoe feature works. It takes 20 images together with the video which is how you are able to do all the cool zoe tricks. Because you have 20 new images on your phone they get automatically uploaded to Dropbox.
How else would you like it to work? Do you want dropbox to just randomly select a picture or only the first one when one of the others might be better?
I do get why people are a bit bothered because you end up with a lot of uploaded pictures but I can't see how else it can be done given how zoes work.

Zoe combined with the gallery and video highlights takes a bit of getting used to.
When browsing events in the gallery, they are automatically created based on an algorithm of when and where the pictures were taken. Each event is automatically labelled by date and if GPS is functional (outdoors) then the location too (see below how it's possible to split and merge events).
The most important thing to notice is that when browsing an event, the first page (showing a video highlight and 4 stills/Zoes) is a SUMMARY of the whole event. The stills/Zoes shown on this page are actually DUPLICATES from within the event itself, and if you scroll down you will see them repeated in the list on pages 2+. If you delete what look like duplicate stills/Zoes, they will disappear from both the summary and the list and are unrecoverable.
As mentioned in this thread, taking Zoes fills up the DCIM folder with many jpgs and mp4s (21 per shot - 20 stills and 1 video), and at first I was very concerned about how I would manage this flood of files. The first thing I did was to turn off Dropbox "auto upload from camera".
I have discovered the option to split and merge existing events in the gallery (by pressing and holding the event image in the list view). Selecting "Split to" allows individual pictures and Zoes to be moved from the \DCIM\100MEDIA folder to a new named folder under \Pictures. This allows specific shots to be isolated, although for Zoes all 21 files per shot are still moved.
When viewing a Zoe, it is possible to select a frame from the 20 available and save it as a separate still, and this will be added to the current event (the file is saved in the \DCIM\100MEDIA with the same file root as the original - e.g. IMAG0021_ZOE006.jpg would result in the saved file IMAG0021_ZOESHOT006_1.jpg).
When viewing an event in the Gallery, it's not easy to differentiate between Zoes and stills (whether taken with the camera or saved as a frame from a Zoe), unless you can see the Zoe moving.
It's not possible to manage the picture files or videos from the Gallery apart from using the Split and Merge functions. It would be an improvement if all Zoes were stored in a holding/temporary location, and specific stills or videos could then be selected for copying to a named event, which would not copy all the other files from each Zoe - leaving them in the temporary location.
Hi guys! I have made a improvement suggestion to HTC regarding Zoe please support it cause I have posted it on facebook of http://facebook.com/htcuk and http://facebook.com/HTC
Here's my little mock up of the suggestion I made.

I have not got my new one so this is based on my experience with Droid DNA. It seems to me that dropbox only instantly upload pictures in the folder DCIM. Therefore when I get my new one, I plan to create a folder, maybe called Zoe or Temp, outside of DCIM. After finish taking Zoe, I will manually move Zoe files into the Temp folder outside DCIM. I know this is still tedious, but I will try it before hTC comes up with a decent solution.

Oh! I have not read your reply before my previous posting. So, if dropbox will not upload pictures under the folder /picture, we can use split to move Zoe into /picture, preventing Zoe being uploaded to dropbox. Is that correct? Thanks!

I wish Screen-Shots (vol- and power for 2-seconds, both together, at the exact same time) were uploaded to DropBox/G+ and Zoe's were not!
I can't believe HTC even included DropBox on the phone... didn't they test and realize this would be a major problem.

you have to move every zoe to a new folder through the gallery. you cant do it through a computer. if you do then the zoe doesnt work properly anymore. it becomes 1 video and 20 separate pictures. also, if you delete one of those 20 pictures through a file browser the zoe disappears from the gallery.

Hopefully someone will make an app for that (or HTC will fix it). What are the steps to manually move the Zoe?
Hi everyone,
I juste realized that mess up Zoe/DropBox when unlocking bootloader... it erased all data (that i thought been saved on dropbox).
I could restore all parameters, apps, but no datas like .doc / .xls / .pdf.
Dropbox had saved every pics and vids, and would like to restore them in HTC One, but I discovered that Zoe shots were a ****ing mess !!
A way to restore manually what HTC Album do manage very well by itself (events / extracts from Zoe shots, pics and vids...) ?
You know what, I uploaded back all datas of Dropbox onto my HTC ONE and even if each Zoe shot is split to several pics, there is not a video resuming the shot in addition...
Please HTC, find us a way to recover these Zoe shots !

I always wished Dropbox would allow you to sync only pictures WITHOUT videos.
I've turned dropbox sync off now. It was a complete mess after recording a few Zoe Movies.

It should work if you restore all 20 pics plus the vid to the correct folders (is that correct, or is there also some data file I don't know about?)
1) We need to make the camera app store Zoe's in a different folder.
2) We need to make the gallery app play Zoe's from that new folder.
3) You need to be able to easily save any Zoe frame to a picture under the DCIM
EXTRA) I want the saved ScreenShots (Power, Vol-) under the DCIM folder too! Maybe just a dynamic link from /DCIM/Screenshots to /Screenshots?
And i realized something new, the Zoe shots are "renamed" in Dropbox, with a syntax identifying date and clock... No more Zoe label within file name...
One more difficulty to recover Zoe shots...

The way I work around this is I use an app call folder sync. The full version allows for name exceptions. So I have it exclude anything that contains the name zoe. Folder sync connects to drop box, Google drive, samba, etc.

Nice! Thanks for the tip.
EDIT: What are the limitations of the free version?

This is brilliant! I have been using dropsync and it can also set the exclude patterns. I can set it to upload Zoe video but not Zoe images. Fabulous!

Hi all,
What I did is, I took a zoe photo, and then I moved the zoe photo by the spliting function to /Picture folder.
Afterthat I use the ES explorer to move back those 20photos+1video files to 100MEDIA folder. And now, I cannot see the moving zoe in the photo album, and it just shows the 3 sec. video.
How can I restore it back? Thanks a lot for helping.
Gary.

It is a little different. So click on the video and when it's playing click it again it will pause. You can then use the slider at the bottom to go through the frames. Once you find a frame you like you can go to menu and save the frame.

Thanks. However what I mean is now the album recongize it as a video clip instead of a zoe photo. So it cannot show it in a magic zoe style.
Anyway to solve it? Thanks.
You can't. Looked at the gallery sqlite database using sqlite editor. You can see there that Zoe photos are stored in there. Once a Zoe photo is removed the data get's deleted and when you return it back it doesn't recognize the zoe photo anymore because the deleted data in the database is totally gone.
I assume that the camera app creates that data in there everytime you take a photo and mediaserver removes it when it can't detect it anymore.

Thanks a lot. That means I've no way to resolve it back.
However, I think out a issue, for example, if we change to another New HTC one, we cannot just copy all files from the old phone to the new one with the zoe album keep alive in the new one.
Yes! Or maybe you can by backing up the data of the gallery and restore it back on a new device(Would require root though).
Also I have made this suggestion already on HTC about a month ago about the issues with Zoe, Gallery & dropbox but they ignored it. Seems like they didn't get enough response about the issue.
I was curious about how Zoe worked under 4.2.2 and got surprised when I could not find the pictures, even under another folder as a temp picture.
Zoe under 4.1.2 took 20 pics and a short 3 sec video. All pics where sent then to Dropbox or any other instant upload like G+ and Picasa. It was a mess.
With 4.2.2 Zoe only takes the short video, a small preview and if you like a frame you can take it "from the video". The thing is, the video is a 1920x1088 resolution, but when you extract the picture it is a 4MP (like it was before the update).
Since this is tecnicaly impossible, unless you use upscale which would get you a bad picture compared to a full 4MP one, I would like to know where are the TEMP pictures taken with the short video in 4.2.2
Does anyone know about this? It is not a problem, just something that got me thinking.
Regards,
Santroph.
Zoe MP4 files missing first second of video
Further to your question above, I've noticed that the MP4 zoe videos seem to be missing the ~1s of video which is recorded from before the shutter button is pressed. This seems to be true of the videos sent using the share function as well as when I "explore" to the DCIM folders on the phone. My HTC One demonstrated this with the Android 4.3 and now with the 4.4 versions loaded. I would really like to be able to play the entire video on my PC. To me the ability to retrieve the video from before I pressed the button is one of the great features of the HTC One Camera.

Howdy,
Lately I've been saving a number of pictures from Internet Explorer and Whatsup, and once I got to Photos|Saved pictures, I saw many saved photos aren't there. Curious, I've plugged the phone to the PC and browsed to SD Card\Pictures\Saved Pictures and... all of the saved pictures were there in the Saved picture, they just didn't appear in the Photos app.
What could be the issue? Could that be traced anyhow? Pretty itching issue.
Luxon
PS.: I've been experiencing an issue like that when I've had reading failures after I turned on Full File System Access once on my Samsung ATIV S. But then I had issues with Photos app closing every now and then after it was launched. I don't experience such issues now, Photos app and other apps like Camera don't close on starting.
Hmm... are they all image formats that the Pictures app recognizes? IE supports a lot of image formats (SVG, for example) that are not officially supported image formats on the phone.
When you save a picture in IE, it gets shown fullscreen and there's a message at the top, even when it says finished, it only saves the picture when you wait for it to disappear, clicking back will cancel it.
