lol i do.
yesterday i needed some quick cash because of a move im doing and i was short on my energy bill...
so i put my sprint galaxy nexus on craigslist for sale/ trade.
last week i got it new in the box for 150. a deal to me for sure.
i got a bunch of crap offers but eventually someone offered me their epic 4g touch and 100 cash for the gnex.
so we met up at a sprint store and called customer care because the store cannot do active phone swaps and we both went home happy.
right away i listed the phone on craigslist, within a few hours i got a few offers, mostly junk but one was or seemed to be worth while.
a white iphone 4 8gb, with case and charger, even trade. so telling her i was interested i posted the white iphone up on craigslist also forsale/trade before i even had it. i got many offers, a few low balls (lol even 50 dollars with the excuse that its outdated and old and the new iphone will be out this month lol), then a 225.00 offer, a 200 dollar offer, you get the idea. i entertained them all, but one of the guys ended up changing their minds and made a even better offer, he retracted his 200 dollar offer and said he would trade me his mint condition epic 4g touch with case, charger and 100 cash... BINGO lol, i quickly accepted.
how could i loose, i met up with the girl at 615pm to do the swap for my epic touch for her iphone 4, after thats done i wait for the guy who comes at 7 and we call sprint all over again and do another swap, it all works out and i leave with another 100 in cash and the same phone i came in with lol.
so i was tainted with a apple phone for about 10 mins... Lol it wasn't that bad but the screen was hard to adjust to.
anyone else flip on craigs? needless to say i have my epic back up on CL for hopefully another trade or sale.
i already got my epic touch running jellybean and honestly its not too much different then my gnex minus the lte which i dont have yet and the HD screen which is noticeable to me.
Seems kind of immoral to me. It's like abusing Wal-Mart return policies to make a buck. You're using Craigslist outside of its intended use for profit. But you do what you gotta do to make the bills work: I personally would not make a habit of "flipping phones".

lol immoral?
im using a public website that is made for buying, selling, and bartering.
thats exactly what im doing.
im not "abusing" or misusing anything, and its not a mega corporation where im scamming their return policies.
its a buy sell and trade website..
thats exactly what im doing.
in fact there are reality tv shows based on this same thing, that where they use outlets like craigslist, people do it with everything under the sun, from tvs, to cars.
im not ripping anyone off or telling people things that they arent.
im giving people what they want and im getting what i want.
exactly what the website is for.
When you start to talk about morality, you instantly are entering into a subjective paradigm in the philosophical/metaphysical sense. However, I do agree you're in a way taking advantage of peoples lack of knowledge on the tech you're trading. Is this immoral? Depends on how you define it. If both parties are happy and walk away from the deal feeling like their was an equitable exchange, then I personally don't think so. Ignorance is bliss I guess. Now, if you intentionally mislead the other party into believing they're getting a much better offer than they realize for your profit then yes this is, to me, immoral, but I don't think your doing this. It is the reason I believe the majority of advertisements and those working in the field are in some sense immoral, but this is getting off topic.
In short, I haven't done it and for me the amount of time and effort isn't worth the small return.
I didn't mean to imply you're ripping anyone off. I just find it interesting how one can make a buck nowadays. I stress the kind of part because I read about the iphone part and it boggles my mind how people are willing to pay so much for so little. I get that if the needs are met then it's fine. However it boggles me further how people can conclude the iphone 4 and the galaxy s2 phone is of equal value. Galaxy s2 clearly has better specs plus MIUI more than makes up for the iOS experience. I get that not everyone is gifted with our passion which is why I use the term "immoral" for someone who knowingly barters with this information in hand. But I do agree with l3lessed that if the girl is happy then that's what matters. Then I conclude that while the ends justifies the means this time, I wouldn't make a habit of this kind of business.
That said: I'm sure you can many people in the MP that has "flipped phone".

Ahh I see.
I was just short this month and this way its legal Lol
Everyone was happy. In fact all the deals I did were brought to me, made by the other party.
I agree the iPhone to me isn't worth much but as everyone can see they have a huge faithful following, enough so to dump more premium phones (in our eyes) in order to have one.
Locally regular iPhone 4 non s versions are still selling more than galaxy s2s.
Its mind boggling to me actually.

I flip phones all the time. If i find a great deal then i will most definitely snatch it up. One thing I never do is low ball. I always offer them a fair price that's low enough for me to make a profit, yet sits well with conscience. Business on Craigslist is easy money if you can negotiate.

I can't see the immorality in his actions. He's entertaining offers from others and not misrepresenting his goods. If anything, I'm impressed by the fact that youre arranging Craigslist deals in advance and juggling it all. You should get into stocks or futures or something and make real money with your talents.
It's not immoral, nothing wrong with it.
I have done that once or twice, it's how I get "new phones for free" but honestly it takes too much time/effort/driving and to me is not really worth it. I do it like once a year to upgrade my phone but that's about it. It's not a bad way to get a decent device though, just be willing to put up with all the BS that goes along with it.
I actually prefer the MP here for the most part, except for a few items that are overpriced here that I want to buy or underpriced (compared to local prices) that I want to sell.

Low ballers make me sick, but that's just a part of Craigslist.
Its not hard to do,but can be time consuming and irritating when you run into tire kickers and people who bs.
Throughout all the years I've used Craigslist for everything under the sun, from TVs,to fish tanks,to cars, refrigerators and probably other things I can't recall. But I've never have had one bad experience, never been robbed or put into any bad situations.
You just have to be smart and smell a bad situation before it happens.

I've never been robbed either. Just very nice people looking to buy and sell items.
If they want quick cash and I'm willing to buy, so be it. I take the time to relist the item and sit on it for a few days, a week, hell I've sat on an item for 3 months! It's all about time and effort. Here in NJ, there are really good deals. Business is just business.

I made money on craigslist this pass week. I just sold my GS3 for $400 (which I bought new for $440 on eBAY) and with the money I bought a white EVO LTE in mint condition for $225 which I sold on Ebay for $340 ($300 after fees and ship).
I list it on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900703 but the memebers here are to cheap to even recognize a good deal.

Very nice.
I made some additional moves on Craigs list recently which I didn't post about.
I traded my gs2 for a white 16gb 4s which in return i traded for a new in the box black evo lte.
Sad to say I'm surprised that the resale value on these phones aren't higher, because the lte is not too much different than the gs3...

Can't say but I doubt it. I'm pretty sure that Google just had WAAAYYYYYY less stock than the iPhone 5! Just a marketing stunt imo
3 of my friends and 2 cousins who have been up since last night sitting infront of their computer, couldn't get theirs. I'm sure there are many more like that out there right now. After Nexus 7, imo Google should have been prepared, maybe should have gone with a solo US launch first and cover the rest of the world after 2 weeks or so. Works for Samsung every single time.

hopefully this was just to test the waters to make sure there is a demand before they make more since they are selling these at a loss. hopefully they restore stock before the holidays.
lol, nothing against any other country, just be easier on everyone to not have a bad experience this way. But I must say, this is by far the most popular Nexus Cellphone, LG and Google got this one for sure. I'm happy thou, because it will only get better from here.

Yep, smells somewhat like a PR-stunt to me. No offense to Google, but such a big company (that makes its money througn market analytics and advertising), not prepared for this huge demand after the success of the N7 and the low-pricing-policy? Hard to think of...
This is all speculation, but they could be after the exact headline of this thread coming to major newspapers tomorrow, certainly not a bad thing in terms of PR.
I personally think, that they made a low amount of devices available at the launch hoping for a sell-out like it has only happened with Apple products. Main stash of devices will be available soon, there has to be some over-stock before the holidays, they won't loose all the possible sales at this time of the year where customers tend to spend the most money on electronic devices.
But as I said, all speculations, no offense. I could be wrong

Speculation but the only reasonable logic. Given how slow and how many errors there were, Google is not ready to sell iPhone numbers. I do not believe that much stock was emptied. In either case, hopefully they provide some numbers for us. If they don't, well then I think we can just assume the PR stunt.

lol, they effectively did, started in Australia and worked westward to the US.
I find it believable, since they are not pulling off the same sold out stunt with the Nexus 10. It is probably due to the price. All they have to get out there is superior to the GS3 and for $349 unlocked with no contract and whoever that needs a new phone would be crazy not to buy it.
That said, there are not enough geeks to sustain these numbers like the iphone 5 can sustain the numbers. However, 2 million or more geeks all ordering at 9am pst is definitely plausible. But once that 2 million gets theirs then we will see how much staying power the Nexus 4 generates.
This is without a doubt a marketing technique. Watch all the tech articles tomorrow "Google sells out Nexus 4 in .03 microseconds!"
And you'll get ignorant posters with comments like "OMGWTFBBQ Apple took 2 days to sell out! I love Google tehe LMAO OMFG"
even if Google only had 3 phones to sell, and Apple had 3 million
marketing stunt
Exactly, totally a marketing stunt. They want the headlines that the Nexus 4 sold out, that its a hot commodity. That will create more interest, higher demand, and magically in a few days a whole butt-load of units will show up in the play store. It'll be interesting to see if they actually release number of units sold today.
They sold out because they only had like 10 devices available in each region, except the US, where they had like 15 units available...
Yes, I'm bitter.
I'm actually more curious the volume of sales for the first day of release, and if Google will release those numbers.
I gt one for myself!! But ya google sucked!! I feel sorry for you all!! They must have stocked arnd one lakh/0.1 million units in each country!! Thats really bad!! Apple had really done a good job
After hearing all the bad news about execs leaving HTC because the companys not doing well etc, etc!
Thought it's time for some good news:
HTC is close to 5 Million units sold (Shipped to carrier's) thats 50% of what Samsung claims.
The fact that HTC is having shortages is proof that those #'s are mostly in consumer's hands rather than retailers.

...yet.
This is still in the rumor mill. And it really does sound like it's gonna happen. They may not have released it to Verizon right yet because the demand would crush any opportunity of them meeting it. That being said, next month when the component providers kick up their orders, and HTC starts getting more produced, it's going to explode when it's been predicted to be released on Verizon. This will be huge.

S4 also has way more advertising and they bash apple in their ads. HTC just needs to kick up their advertising and promotions like Samsung has.

Supply and demand, Verizon should just announce it already. Remember the long lines Apple releases first created. It would be great if an HTC device could drive the same traffic to stores. If Verizon releases and says quantities are limited it very well could cause great success with a limited supply should the current devices in the market on other carriers (like the one I have on Sprint) continue to amaze everyone I show.

THIS! Was just about to post the same exact thing, if you keep waiting around and listening to all the rumors you'll be stuck with the phone you have now forever!
The iPhone 5S was already obsolete on features 2 years before they released the thing, And I can confidently say the iPhone 6 is already outdated because we all know they give you nothing unless they already developed a way to massively overcharge for it.
I just had to waste my time to reply. Every piece of tech is obsolete the second it come out but at least I'm not holding on to an even older complaining about a better phone and thank god I'm not waiting for the iPhone 6, which has been under development so long I can't possibly imagine how it can stand up to the note 4 or s6. LOL!!! EVERY iphone has been 2 years obsolete when they are released.. That's like their entire mantra because it makes the Jobs-knob-hobbing rubes foam at the mouth for the next big feature that will be obsolete when it comes out. Case-in-point.. the OG iphone was EDGE, not 3G - only a total MORON would design a web-centric, data-intensive phone to use one of the worst data networks in the country.. The 3G was 3G but didn't have video capabilities (which were standard on every other phone released for AT LEAST two years prior), you had to buy the 3GS. It's all part of the marketing scheme.
You see, in a securely guarded vault deep inside apple headquarters is the ultimate iphone that was designed late in 2005. It is IP99 certified, has a 4.8" 8K parallax 3D screen, 512GB of internal storage, dual 3D 4K cameras, a removable extended battery with NFC and Qi, dual SD card slots, yadda yadda yadda. They took that model and stripped it all down to barebones, and released it as the OG iphone. They're simply adding a couple features back each year and releasing "the NEW IPHONE", which makes all the fanboys jizz their collective pants as they line up like idiots to pay the ridiculously inflated price for it.

I sent them a very unpleasant email after a horrid experience with their live chat.
In Adelaide, they have a 'service centre' that DOESN'T SERVICE ANYTHING!
So they wanted me to take my phone there and let them send it off, and get a loaner either from my carrier or the service centre, and they will 'try to have my phone back within three days, but it could take up to two weeks for examination'.
I let them have it over that. I am in the process of starting a business. Getting a loaner means HOURS of time to migrate everything to the temp phone, then hours more to get it back on the Note. (Aussie internet sucks)
That's unacceptable for a $1,500 flagship device, especially in less than a month and while they are trying to rebuild their reputation after the Note 7 fiasco.
So now I get to see how they reply as well, which should be fun because I was absolutely vicious in my email.

Man, their phone and live chat support is just horrible. HORRIBLE.
Funny, in contrast, how their Sales Support goes the distance when you need something
I wish you the best of luck. Worse case, could always go the Twitter route and see how they respond publicly.

So, I have an Exonys Note 8, purchased through Optus in Australia. Never dropped it, kept in a case, etc etc.
Yesterday, I noticed that the black paint is peeling around the bottom left antenna.
Anyone else have this issue, or am I just lucky?

Sounds like a nightmare.
Never heard of this situation before with the coating coming away from the frame. Sounds very odd and certainly you MUST continue to hold Samsung responsible.
I cannot understand Samsung period. After what we went though last year one would think that if we buy a lemon Samsung would jump through hoops to rectify a customers situation? Nope, not good old Samsung.
It greatly concerns me as should this sort of thing happen to me I cannot afford to just let it go and purchase another mobile. I know from bitter experience with Samsung in this country, Southern Europe, that Samsung after sales doesn't exist. All sales work-distribution is left to a third party and to be blunt they don't give a shoot, literally!
I have, for the first time ever, insured this mobile with the outlet. If mine develop's a similar situation I will place an insurance claim.
I am informed by my outlet that these problems don't exist with the Chinese brads of mobile as they deal direct with the outlets with zero sub contractors involved. Samsung should take Note from that!
I am getting to the point with Samsung that if I didn't need that S-pen I would not purchase this brand again. I am still waiting for my bloody DEX that was pre-ordered TWO months ago! I hope Microsoft introduce their smartphone ASAP, it comes with a pen.
Back to you. Do you have any sort of consumer agencies in your country? If you do make a formal complaint with them. This country has a government backed consumer association that is as useful as boobs to a nun. Basically you would be stuffed here, hope that's not the case with you. Let us now how things progress. :highfive:

You'd think with the amount of money they generate , they could at least ask you to at min stop by a Samsung center and let a rep look at your phone then if he or she couldn't remedy the issue , then the rep would replace it on the spot!

We do have an ombudsman's office, but I am giving Samsung the opportunity to fix this before going that route.
If I have to go through the Ombudsman, they can pay my contract out so I can get a new phone.

That would require them actually having one in Adelaide.

Pretty sad state of affairs that you need to make an insurance claim on a potential manufacturers defect .

As the mobile will have to be replaced why are Samsung causing a storm in a tea cup? Such a manufacturing problem can't be repaired.
I would initiate the process through your Ombudsman now and save the hassle with Samsung after sales. I do feel for you with this situation. Its not the problem its how Samsung don't rectify it. Lemons are part and parcel of the production process and when one crops up why oh why do Samsung make such a song and dance over it? It appears Samsung world wide have this after sales reputation. Very poor show indeed.

How are you doing?

I'm no Apple fan boy, but least their stores provide this type of service.
Makes me wonder about the Note 7 debacle, perhaps it was Buddhist Karma at the time ?

True. It's the only thing that I like about the iPhone. Their post sales service is great. I don't use iPhones, but everything else in my life is Apple. Whenever I have a problem with one of my computers or iPads, I just run down the street to the Apple store and they take care of it. It's the only reason that I've ever considered getting an iPhone over something else. In the end, I just get insurance from my carrier and hope that nothing goes wrong. I am assuming that my carrier would not cover "cosmetic" issues like peeling paint.

Yeah , I'm on the same page with you on this one also. My last iPhone was a 4s back in the days. Service was great.
A testament of a good company is their after sales service. With Samsung , it appears to be non existent. It will eventually bite them in the back.

I'm lucky too same area as you got and just happened today. I'm bought it from Optus on pre-order.
