Because you are not meant to drop it is the screen cracked? Is it unusable? Then wtf are you complaining about.

is the xperia z really this easy to bend?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNF14T5o-8E
That's because of the type of glass used for the case.
It needs to be flexible so it doesn't shatter easily.
I think it's actually pretty cool.

I don't know maybe someone with a XZ can test it
what a bend!
but will it affect the chips inside the phone or weaken the phone structure?
seems like just a little force is needed to bend it, most people put their phone in the pant's pocket, its gonna bend easily whenever we move since the phone is quite huge
Hmm if it is really that flexible, than you are pretty safe when you drop the phone, it wil just spread the shock over the whole chasis.

Shock test by Sony rep who claims it uses Dragontrail Glass.
EDIT: Not worth watching actually, it's a pretty lame 'shock test'. Highlight being the rep saying that the screen will "remain calm" when banged about.

I was just about to post this, to me it looks like an optical illusion, too.
i have my xperia Z here and it really bends similar to the video. But i don't see it as a negative point, because it is really shatterproof because of that.

I'm sorry, did you say backscreen? Does that mean the glass panel on the back, or something behind the screen? I've just never heard that term before.
Also, you mentioned... falling off a nightstand onto CARPET?
how could that have possibly broken anything, given the videos we've all seen of the XZ dropping on far worse?
Don't know why it broke, think landed just wrongly...
Its the back case,
Sorry, it's not clean, just wiped the broken corner....

Really cool video, can't believe the back would break landing on carpet, at least it looks easy to replace
Did you replace your glass?
or has anyone else had the back open and could perhaps comment on the technique, temperature needed ( it looks like a hairdryer rather than heat gun in the video) , how and where does the glass adhere? etc
thanks
Hi guys, just curious about this, I would like to remove the front screen protector of Xperia Z to get rid of the Sony logo (not hate it put prefer the front to be all black). Would this affect the phone's water resistant feature?
Have anyone tried this yet?
Besides, is the oleophobic coating of the glass affected? From the video below I think there's something wrong with his phone, the reflection looks pixelated

I have done it and it doesnt affect water resistant feature (its a film how can it affect the whole phone?)
the screen have little to no oleophobic feature, your best bet is to buy some rain-x spray it on there or buy another screen protector that have oleophobic property.
I'd leave it alone for the simple reason you'll regret it. I don't see how you could remove it, you can cover it over in some way but it's not going to look good and would be noticeable from certain angles.

It's scratches I'd be more concerned about, which is why I always stick one on top of the factory one because if or when I come to sell it, a pristine screen will get more than one that's scuffed to bits.

it wont scratch, it'll break but wont scratch, I had my S3 in my pocket with keys and coins (not intentionally but when in a rush) it never scratch, Dragontrail suppose to be stronger than Gorilla Glass 2 so it be ok.

IT WILL SCRATCH.
IT WILL BREAK AND IT WILL SCRATCH.
My previous xperia z had antishatter removed and the screen scratched from a sand particle hidden in my microfibre cloth, if you decide or have taken of antishatter film, put on a screen protector as soon as you can. Preferably you should put on a good quality screen protector onto antishatter film. That way you will have constant new looking phone.
Which is what I've done with my NEW Xperia z.
after taking off antishatter layer on my first phone, AIthough i was trying to convince myself that it feels better, and looks better debranded,
Everytime the beautiful nostalgic sony ad came on, and the guy took out his xperia z to take a picture of his girlfriend covered in courfull dry paint. And then washed his xperia z afterwards showing off that beautiful sony logo. My heart would sink ,as I knew my phone would never look like that ever again.
