Why is it that when I configure my email accounts under IMAP and send a message that it's only saved on the phone, but not back to my server? That entirely defeats the purpose of IMAP. Have any of you noticed this, and figured out a solution?
Using gmail with imap, a new folder is created named sent(imap) and all sent e-mails from my phone are saved there. Check if you any new folders.
Also, did you select to sync your sent folder?

On my own hosting account, no new folders. Tried sync of sent folder, no dice. This has been a flaw in Sense for a long time and I'm pissed they haven't figured it out yet. Hoping someone else has a solution.

Hi,
Using Gmail IMAP4 on my Vario III. I can send messages fine, and see them in my sent mail folder at gmail.com, but I can't see them in the sent mail folder in Pocket Outlook on the phone (it's empty).
Is this right? If not, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
go to email options then to the tab at the bottom that says message and one of the options is keep copies of sent email in sent folder.
Thanks, but it's already checked.
I've had a similiar issue using Windows live(the application) to check my hotmail account. I can see all my folders to move stuff to, but I can't actually retrieve any of the messages from any folder other then the inbox. I can however move things from my inbox to wherever.
If I use PIE I can get to them through the browser however.
Sorry, forgot the solution. Go to Tools > Manage Folders > and select the folders to sync..
Nice one. Thanks.

Worked for me as well. I had the same problem. Thank you pyro.
worked, thank you guys, but i am still wondering why microsoft did not just make this enabled by default (automatically sync all folders for any pop/imap account) :-\
The sync option works on Gmail folders as well..
I have my yahoo mail account set up through pocket outlook, everything works ok except when I send messages, they don't show up in the sent folder. I have the setting checked that should save all sent items, so I'm stumped as to why it won't work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I would say you have two possibilities, one no E-Mails are being sent or two you need to go to your message option and select the check box which tells it to save a copy in your sent folder.
Unfortunately, this seems to be a common problem, especially with IMAP email accounts. From what I have read so far (Search IMAP Issues on XDA), there is no fix for this and is an issue with Windows Mobile.
Hopefully you don't have the issue where you cannot send email attachments as well... that's another common IMAP issue....
SIGH!!!
Magic Solution
I've been browsing various posts about this problem and just found a simple solution to my problem that might help others.
I have a yahoo account set up for for IMAP sync with my handheld. The "Keep copies of sent items in sent folder" box under options...message was checked. Yet my handheld was saving none of the emails I had sent.
I also noted that I have two folders for sent in my account: one called "sent" and one called "sent items".
My solution was to check "Sent Items" for sync under the Menu...Tools...Manage Folders option on the handheld. Syncing the "Sent" folder had no effect.
Having set the "Sent Items" folder for sync, all the emails I had previously sent magically appeared on both my handheld and on my yahoo account. Amazing.
I hope someone else finds this helpful.
Thanks tedkle! Your solution worked perfectly! My Sent Items now appear on both my handheld and Yahoo account.
Now for the next challenge. . . I also synchronize with Outlook, so Yahoo, my device and my desktop Outlook all need to be in synch.
Is there any way to take your solution one step further and also have mail sent from my device also appear in Outlook? It would appear that a setting in Yahoo needs to be flipped to "Push" items in "Sent Items" folder as well as items in the "Inbox"?
Thanks again!
Great!
That solve the problem. I was told by a tech representative that it was a flaw with Windows Mobile. furthermore, he said that the telco technician confirmed that.
All that after putting down $500 for a PPC smartphone. Hopefully, the telco will come up one day with smart-technicians.
Thanks a lot

Try doing a sync just after you've sent the message. IIRC when I used to use Yahoo mail, I found that there's a delay in it placing the mail into the SENT folder, and a resync picks it up. Also, make sure you've set that folder to sync, it might not sync by default.

I'm using Windows Hotmail now, but hopefully Yahoo is the same. In the Email app, press the FOLDER icon at the bottom of the screen and select the SENT MAIL folder from the list that pops up. Then press the ... at bottom right to get the menu and select SYNCHRONIZE THIS FOLDER.

Great stuff, hope it works out for you. That technique applies to any folders you want to sync with your phone.
I think the reason you have a SENT and a SENT ITEMS folder is because your phone is expecting it to be called SENT ITEMS but Yahoo named their folder SENT, so you see both. I suspect that SENT is the one with the items in it?

Ah fair enough, glad you're sorted!
New Bionic owner here. Loving the phone! Coming from many other droids.... most recent the Atrix 4G w/AT&T. Never had the following problem before:
I use Exchange. I have no need for my email to be pushed to me, or for any kind of automatic fetching. So, just as with many other devices before, I've turned off push and I've set fetch to manual. YET, my email continues to be pushed to me automatically as if push was turned on. Can't seem to figure out what I might be missing.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Under email settings> email delivery> data push make sure the correct account does not have a check next to it. If that isn't it I would delete the account and start again. Is the account exchange, pop3, etc.?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
The problem definitely seems to be with the folder sync options under email delivery. The inbox does not give an option for "manual"... only "background". Im thinking of deleting the account and installing fresh.
When you set up the account did you use corporate sync or email?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Im not sure.... is there a difference?
Can you tell me if there is a difference between setting up my Exchange email through the corporate sync method versus through the email app settings? I want to wipe the account off of my phone & start from scratch, so I need to know if there is a difference between the two methods. Thanks!
I have an IMAP account set up on an HTC ONE.
Sent email is stored locally in the MAIL apps Sent folder.
I would like the sent email to go to INBOX.SENT so that it syncs to the web server and therefore on to other devices and desktop Thunderbird.
How do I tell an HTC ONE where to save send messages?
Or is there another email app to use instead
