What is the reason why this dev edition is only for the USA customers and I'm curious as to whether it could work in the Bahamas even though we use 1900mhz and 850mhz bands here

As far as I can tell, it's a replacement for the AT&T version, which is likely to not be unlockable through htcdev, all other versions are.
I think it's because the developer edition is basically an unlocked AT&T version, so it kinda make sense to distribute them in the U.S only since that's the area AT&T covers. It supports those frequencies so it should work in the Bahamas.

They do for LTE, but I think the phone cannot make calls on LTE alone. Not sure if I am correct here or not.

Verizon uses sims and they said they might for me since theyve sent me 3 replacement notes. They just wont say if itll work or not

Verizon is CDMA. Unlocked phones are GSM. Also, just because the frequencies might be similar, they're two completely different protocols.
Short answer, as someone who used to work at Verizon and just knows a lot about this stuff: No. Verizon will only activate phones that they sell you. And SIM cards on Verizon are only used for LTE, not for CDMA service. The unlocked One is a GSM phone.

AT&T and Verizon's LTE frequencies may both be 700 MHz, but they're not the same 700 MHz, in a nutshell. And even if they were:
1. You'd only get data. No texting and no phone calls, which go over CDMA.
2. The above is assuming that Verizon's network infrastructure will authenticate a non-Verizon phone, which it won't, because CDMA carriers use a whitelist and only activate their own branded devices.

Coincidentally, I also worked for Sprint. But everything I've said is pretty much common knowledge. It's the same as the Verizon as far as I know. Only difference, which I picked up from reviews, is that it uses an actual SIM instead of an embedded SIM like all other Sprint phones. But again, that's only for LTE purposes.
Now, a Verizon HTC One will most likely work on AT&T (since Verizon phones aren't allowed to be locked, as part of an FCC agreement in exchange for being allowed to use the 700 MHz band of LTE spectrum). But Sprint usually has manufacturers block out US-based SIM cards, even if the device is unlocked. This was the case with the iPhone 4S, 5, and all other Sprint SIM-capable devices.
TL;DR: Sprint is the same.

Nope.
Verizon to Verizon, Sprint to Sprint, unless they each release their own developer editions (which Verizon has done for the S3).

If Verizon were willing to activate it, sure it would run on their network. However LTE wouldn't work because Sprint phones do 1900 Mhz LTE. For what it's worth, I have seen Sprint phones flashed onto PagePlus, which is a Verizon based prepaid carrier.
The spec sheet says the 32GB and 64GB HTC One sold through HTC does support T-mobile 3G/4G on the AWS band, but we all know the Unlocked HTC One is the same phone that ships to T-Mobile and AT&T. (Confirmed by AnandTech) Has anybody tried putting a T-Mobile sim in the unlocked HTC One with any luck?

I was under the impression the online dev edition only supports AWS LTE. There has been speculation if the dev edition phone could potentially work on HSPA AWS spectrum. Some smart people got into a pretty serious war over that... haha so I'll just say troll around and look for the info on here.
A similar argument for the ATT versions maybe possible if the same hw is present. The Dev edition has extra bands added though and I don't know if this requires more HW.
I want to get the HTC One but apparently it does not support my carrier bands. It appears that the t-mobile version of htc one has the required 1700 band but I am not too sure if I am doing this right. Basically does the t-mobile version of htc one work with wind? (wind apparently supports only the aws band, the full FAQ on wind's website:

I am going to buy a Moto X in the US and use it abroad. May I get some suggestion about which version to buy other than the Dev Ed because I managed to get a promotion code which can only be used for MotoMaker ones.
Is there any version that is unlocked for sim cards other than the carrier indicated?
which version is easier to root and unlock the BL of Moto X?

I'm going to Mexico in January and I have the Verizon Dev edition; as far as I know, it has the same internals as the standard moto x, only the bootloader being unlockable is different. It's my understanding that Verzion phones come carrier unlocked, and the new ones (including the x) have gsm bands as well as cdma and LTE bands. My mexican (telcel) sim card shipped today so I should find out soon. These are the bands included in the verizon moto x:
Network: LTE, CDMA/1xEVDO Rev. A (800/1900 MHz)
LTE B13/4 700/1700
Global Network: EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900), HSPA/UMTS( 850/900/1900/2100), HSDPA 42.2 Mbps (Category 20), HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
As long as your overseas carrier offers one of those you should be fine. Also, if you're about to buy, I'd hold off for a week if you can. I hear wood backs are coming to moto maker.

Have you confirmed if it worked or not? I am thinking of sending a few to Honduras to run on Claro and it looks like they should be able to get nano sims there since Claro offers the iPhone 5S. They currently all have Droid 3 phones.
I've got an ATT Moto X, proparly unlocked; works fine in Europe, w/o any issues! Few ATT spamware (phonebook, backup) disabled, everything else is just fine pure Android experience. Got mine from Ebay.
Best to get the T-Mobile Moto X. Why is because it comes unlocked for GSM networks right out of the box and furthermore, it doesn't even have a carrier logo on the back.
I got one and its happily working fine in Malaysia with no network issues.

I believe the T-Mobile one is the best global solution as xylencia mentioned, it comes carrier unlocked (not bootloader unlocked, as some confuse the difference). I just took my moto to Canada and got a nano Sim from telus, paid $30 for a month and its working great.
I moved away from Verizon because their phones don't work on any other network (unless things have changed recently)

Verizon LTE devices come sim unlocked for GSM carriers. It's part of an agreement with the FCC. You can use it stateside and globally.
T-Mobile or the Dev gsm is best for travel other than for Korea and Japan and even then you will have 3g

Cool. Moreover, I actually used LiveChat with a Motorola rep and she confirmed that only T-Mobile's version comes carrier unlocked out of the box. Even though NO CONTRACT options are also available with the other carriers.

That sucks. I am pretty sure T-Mobile S4 had band 7... ..I checked Nexus 5 also doesn't have it.
Well if u really need LTE on 2600, just buy the ATT version and have it unlocked by a third party. Probably cost u something like ten bucks.
