[Q] LEFT Handed Signal Loss - Wifi and Network issue - Pinch of... - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Please Read before "Flaming!" - I do NOT work for Samsung!!! I also did not find an ongoing thread for this issue... so If I missed an already open thread, forgive me. Also, please excuse the length of the post... trying to describe this as best I can to get feedback from others!! (Mainly, do I need to exchange this ONE, no pun intended.)
I picked up my ONE from BB yesterday - Sprint Version - Serial FA##BS - FYI
After messing with it for a bit I noticed the signal would jump all over the place, from 1-6 bars. Normally my EVO LTE would jump from 4-6 bars, but not nearly as much movement as my new ONE.
I did not want to put the words "Death Grip" in the title as I'm sure I would be immediately flamed left and right! But unfortunately, it seems that my phone does indeed have a grip issue.
So, here is what I have figured out so far and I might make a video to better describe this if need be...
First and foremost, I believe this to be a LEFT Handed problem, as I am left handed and tried holding the phone in the same way in my right hand without major issue. I normally hold my phone from the middle, to the bottom of the device... thumb pointed up along the left side of the phone. Index finger on the back pointing towards the top right of the phone. Middle and ring finger curled around the phone near the bottom third of the phone and pinkie underneath for balance.
Again, I am using my left hand for this and when switching to my right hand, I do not have the same signal loss. While looking at my phone and the position of my hand, I noticed that the fleshy part of my palm, near my thumb was "gripping" the bottom left corner of the phone. Hence touching both the back and front aluminum parts as well as covering the white plastic in that corner.
This led me to a few tests, of course by this time I already thought it could be a left/right issue so I held the device in what I guess could be a "pinch" position. Gripping the very bottom left corner of the device with my Index and Thumb, middle finger underneath for balance. (Please be VERY careful if you try holding your phone this way, do so above carpet or soft surface at the very least!!!)
Holding the phone this way really took a toll on the Network Signal, bringing it down (up?) as much as 18-24 dBm (From 5/6 bars to 1/2 bars)
I tried all of this using my right hand, but really saw no defining difference other than it felt weird! But signal seemed fine.
Early in my testing I decided to hold the phone up high, again left handed, and noticed random 1 bar WIFI signal loss. But the Network Signal was fine. After going back and forth with it, trying to recreate a similar holding position as I normally hold the phone, I turned the phone upside down. This gave me my "regular" grip and consistently dropped WIFI 2 bars. Although I have not been able to get the "pinch" grip to do really anything up top.
WIFI seems to be less affected, especially as most won't hold the phone there unless in portrait mode. Which I have not worried taking notes on... yet! So far, just north/south testing.
Another thing with the WIFI, I did these tests in 3 different places in my house and when I was at my desk 4 feet away from my router, I had no issues. But in the back of the house (Bedroom/Bathroom... where you need wifi!!) is where I saw the effects.
Network signal seemed to be affected everywhere, but less when outside.
Also, it usually took about 5-7 seconds for the effect to take place when switching holding positions, but the signal would hold steady (whether good or bad) for long periods of time.... minutes in this case.
I have included a few pics, and will do a video if need be, but would love some REAL feedback from other ONE owners. And if you do reply, please let me know where you got your one, I.E. Sprint, from HTC, At&t, other, etc.

Excellent feedback!

You're holding it wrong!!! >:[

Tried holding mine (Sprint) like you described. I dropped from 5 bars to 2.

Something of note. Held the phone lefty to drop the signal and then ran OpenSignal's speedtest. Signal jumped back up to 5 bars (-85dBm). Maybe something to do with how/when the antennas tune themselves.

Screen alignment/Slide issues

On my ATT Tilt when ever I close the sliding screen now it does not line up properly. The screen sites a few millimeters to the right of where it should. I called ATT and they said that Slide issues aren't covered under warranty. Anyone else having a similar issue?
No problems here, although keyboard sliding is a bit easier to move since the day I bought it and it sometimes moves when I don't expect it to...
Yeah it def slides easier, but it doesn't line up properly.
I've dropped mine many times (only onto carpets so far, happily) and on occasion have found the top half of the phone slightly misaligned with the rest - resulting in a lip at the top, bottom, or right hand side. I've found that with a little gentle but firm nudge the other way, it usually fits back into place. I think there's a little movement designed into the whole thing, to allow it to take repeated sliding and the odd knock without the stress damaging anything.

Alignment problems

My screen constantly goes out of alignment.
I have to realign it 10-12 times a day and sometime it goes out by alot !
I have tried 6 different ROMS and they all have the same problems
Can anyone help ?
Thanks
yeh.. mine's like that too... except it only seems to happen when it gets a bit warm.... haven't been able to find a solution for it so far.
Did a few searches and the general consensus seems to be that it's a hardware fault (screen and digitiser) and other people have sent it off for warranty repairs.
I'm going to have problems with the warranty as I have changed the Rom many many times.
Don't know how to put the original Telstra ROM back, assuming I can even get it !
Hey guys
I am on my 2nd diamond..
the first one had huge alignment problems, so i got it replaced..
after a month, the new one started doing the same thing..
i found a thread somewhere here on XDA (for the life of me cant remember where it is now)
but it had a little solution that mixed with mine, worked!
the problem is that the screen is not sitting properly in the casing anymore, possible due to a bump in your pocket, or a fall.. this causes a certain section of the screen to be higher or lower than the rest..
place the phone flat on a desk, and open up the notes app and try to write/draw something.. see which side of the screen the line is heading towards..
now place place your thumb and a finger on diagonal sides of the screen (eg, bottom left and top right) and press down... check with the stylus if its any better... if not, try opposite sides and check again..
mine always shot up to the top right, so when i held down the top left side of the phone, it worked..
so this meant that the top right side was sitting slightly higher than the rest of the screen.
the solution is:
find a business card with sharp corners and place the edge underneath the screen (just the corner, dont shove the whole thing up there!) hehe
then slide the card up and down a few times, and then do another side of the screen... do all 4 sides but pay special attention to area where the styles was migrating towards in the notes app..
after doing this, my phone hasnt given me a days problem in 2 months now..
give feedback if this solution works for you!

"Death Grip" issues with the One or defective unit?

I've had the phone for less than a week and I've noticed significant signal loss depending on how I hold the phone.
When I hold the phone with my palm touching the back I lose 3-4 bars. I played around touching different locations and have noticed that if I hold the phone from the bottom (palm touching the bottom half) I lose 3-4 bars of 3G/4G/voice but when I hold it with just fingers on the edges I get the bars right back. When I hold the top half of the phone (palm touching the top half) I lose 3-4 bars of WiFi.
Could you guys try this and tell me what you see?
FYI. I've tried the same thing using a plastic case and no difference so I'm sure the problem is not because of the metal back. Something is up with the internal antennas...
there's already a thread for this.

[Q] Low Cell Reception after screen replacement VS980

After replacing my broken screen and LCD if I'm inside a building or somewhere that I don't usually have full signal I now have almost none to no signal now. I'm guessing that it has to do with an antenna or something. Can anybody tell me where to start looking to fix this issue? It is annoying because now my service area is limited. Thanks in advamce for any help that you can give me.
Same problem here. I've replaced the antenna cables with new ones hoping to sort out this issue, but it didn't.
This phone has gone from being very reliable to almost unusable for making calls now.
Anyone know where to look for an answer?
Make sure you have them plugged into the correct places.
They are. Triple checked.
Mine weren't even though I swore that they were. I had them crossed at the top connections.
Looking at the phone, the black cable plugs into the right side and the gray cable plugs into the left side. On top and bottom. My cables are not long enough to swap them around.
You would think so. Looking directly at the wires the one that is connected on the bottom left connects to the top right. This should be the grey or the longer of the two.
That's odd, this picture shows the black cable staying to the right and the gray cable staying to the left. I have it the way it is shown in this photo.
I will pop the back off mine later on and I'll let you know what mine looks like.
Thanks, I would appreciate that!

Weird screen sensitivity and possible modem problem

This is kind of a weird one, but I'll try to explain. My screen does exactly what it should do if I have it in the palm of one hand. I can swipe, tap, do whatever I want with the other hand - as long as the phone is in the palm of one hand. If I put the phone flat on the couch or on a table, or if I put it in a mount in my car and then try to press the screen, it's as if I'm not touching it at all. It will occasionally pick up some of my presses, but it's not nearly where it should be. I have noticed this with the case on and with the case off. I have a screen protector, but it's one of those self-healing jobs and not one of the tempered glass screens. Anyone else notice this?
I have also noticed that my data connection and speeds on 4G LTE is sometimes lacking when it shouldn't be. I can be in a suburban area, and I'll notice that Waze is "searching for network" more than it should be. I also noticed at my daughter's high school softball field last night (maybe 100 people on hand) that my connection to basic sites was very slow. It seems like I read that this was a thing for some people, but I wanted to gauge here and see if any of you have seen this pop up.
Thanks in advance.
