Alright, I did some searching, but like any forum, it's generally messy.
I was interested updating my Nook, to either Froyo, or Gingerbread(?), or the latest firmware from B&N...
Rooting it, and retaining root.
Perhaps getting GApps
Definitely getting Market access.
If anyone could point me to the best links in an orderly fashion, I would appreciate that many folds.

good luck
you don't even need to search. all of the threads are on the first page of the dev forum.
That may be but I wasn't aware that development was for the general user. I'm new here using my husband's account.
Thanks for the help guys.
Sorry for being really retarded, but how to add widgets to home screen? Namely the facebook one.
Also how come downloaded apps don't appear in extra till i reboot the book? I can search and access them but not from the extras menu till reboot.

What launcher are you using, stock?
Yes... is there a method to do it with stock via ADB or a launcher you recommend?
Try LauncherPro or ADW, or just search the market for "Launcher". After you install a new launcher, the next time that you press your home button, you'll see a dialog with the list of installed launcher apps with a checkbox at the bottom.
If you have SoftKeys installed, I'd set that as the default (ticking the checkbox), and then configure SoftKeys to passthru a single press of the home button to LauncherPro, ADW, or whatever you want for a home screen manager/launcher.
Once you replace the stock launcher, to add a widget, perform a "long press" on the home screen. This is simply pressing on an available (no icon) area of the home screen for ~2 seconds. You should now see the "Add to home screen" dialog where you can select from several actions. Select "Widgets" and a list of available widgets will be displayed.
HTH
Ok set soft keys as home now how doi configure it to passthrough?
Go to the app drawer and launch SoftKeys. Click the screwdriver icon on the toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen. This will bring you to the SoftKeys configuration screen.
Select "Virtual Home Button"
Select "Normal Press"
A list of all installed launchers will appear.
Select the one that you want the SoftKeys virtual home button to launch when it's pressed.
Press the back button
Select "Physical Home Button"
Select "Button"
Select the option "Single Tap Launcher, Double Tap SoftKeys"
Now, when you press the home button, you'll go straight to your default launcher. A quick double-press will take you to the SoftKeys app, which acts as a task switcher, among many other things.
Thanks that was a big help guys.
Hello,
When i tap home touch button for a longer time there shows a circle with google icon which launches me google search. Can i disable this?
Yep. If you have root, uninstall Google Search with Titanium Backup for example.
Possible a really stupid question... But I have already searched all over Cyanogenmod 10.1 settings
and I can't find where to select what I want the home button to do.
Not really an Issue, But I want to use holo launcher and tap the home button so that holo launcher
redirects me to my home screen when I want... That's where the problem comes in, When I tap the
home button it returns me to Cyanogenmod 10.1 default launcher and I have to launch Holo launcher
again...
So... Where do I set the home button setting in Cyanogenmod 10.1 default launcher?
when you've installed the 2nd launcher, at the first click of the home button the phone probbably asked you whether to launch default launcher or the new one, and you clicked the old one and selected always... so now the default launcher launches everytime you press the home button...
to undo this, go to settings > apps > find the default launcher app (trebuchet?) > scroll down to "launch by default" > click on "clear defaults"...
now when you click your home button - it should ask you whether to launch default launcher or the new one (holo), select holo and tick "always"...
Thanks! That solved my problem, Now I can set holo as the default launcher
whith no problems!
Does anybody know if there is a menu shortcut I can add to a gesture with Nova. I miss not having a menu button on the navbar to go directly to settings or launcher settings.
Yes, just create a gesture for it. I just did this earlier. Swipe up opens my settings menu.

I have that already. I want swipe up to be menu. Here is a pic to what comes up on home screen when you hit menu.
I understand what you mean. I always liked having access to this using the menu button. For now I just use a gesture to open Nova Settings and another gesture for System settings.
The only way I've found is using gmd autohide softkeys. It hides the original navbar and has a way to add a menu button but I wish I could make it always there so I don't have to open it all the time.
Hello Community! My Turbo is rooted and everything. So, is there a way to remap the hardware Task key? I dont need this useless recent apps stuff, i want my good old menu key back but not even Gravity box worked for me. And i cant find the according key in generic.kl file (system/usr/keylayout)

Using apex launcher you can map the buttons to opening apps or being shortcuts for different activities
But unfortunately this won't remap the key to open my menu
I got it. Just edit the "atmel_mxt_ts.kl" file, it controls home, task and back button. I changed TASK to MENU and it works like a charm
