I am having the same problem when I get my phone yesterday. It happened after I try to play some music in ES Player ( i think maybe some 3rd party music player may cause the problem ).
Solution for me:
- Install Ringtone Maker ( or other 3rd party apps that can set the ringtone)
- Set the ringtone from there
- The ringtone that I set using the 3rd party apps doesn't take effect, but it fix the "sound set has stopped unexpectedly" and I can now set my ringtone & alarm using the system default
Hope this works for you

Found this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245829&highlight=+sound+set+:
I worked with HTC Support last night to further troubleshoot this issue. Here is what I learned:
1) The correct locations for storing custom ringtones and notifications are:
/sdcard/Ringtones
/sdcard/Notifications
2) You must copy the files to this location from your computer via USB. The problem I was encountering was caused by the fact that I was using ES File Explorer to download my MP3 and OGG files from a network share to my phone. While all other applications were able to see and play these files without any trouble, the built-in ringtone/notification chooser will not see files copied onto the device in that way.
And it works

Diamond gets stuck on playing sounds

Hi , I have this weird problem . My diamond gets stuck on playing sounds ( eg - windows sounds for network detected , new sms , alarm ) . I realized this happens when the default program is Windows Media Player ( WMP ) , and the moment I reassign the extension to another ( in this case Pocket music player PMP ) , the problem is solved .
But the problem is PMP takes a tad longer to play , so not the best option for ring tones and sms tones .
1) Has anyone else had similar issues ?
2) Does anyone know how to solve this ? I was thinking of either reinstalling WMP
3) Would installing HTC audio manager solve this
Cheers

It's possible, that I am the noob, but it does not seem to be a question...
E-mail not working: Which one? Email app, Gmail, other app?
Add music popup: try another music player. You cannot play any file from file manager, because not all of the files are music. You can play any music files from file manager, but not in a popup but the music player app.
Back button end call: You have to enable it in settings.
Battery issue: Search box is your friend.

2 Solutions
1) If You are Rooted Then Delete Music.apk and Music.odex from /system/app folder
2) If Not Rooted Than Open Settings go to Manage apps .... at the bottom there is written default app settings click on it and then select music player and change the default
Hope it helps

thank you dear
i'm not rooted and tried to make any other music app as a default and problem not solved
I'm rooted and used Rom Toolbox (or any root app manager) to freeze the "Music" app, the only pro of doing this is that you will get the coverart of any music player you're listening to (SoundCloud, Poweramp, etc.) but the controls won't work anyway (it was discussed here).
Solution without rooting
Hi, I found a solution without the need to root your device in another forum. Since it's in German, I'll quickly translate the instructions:
In ES File Explorer go to /device/system/app
In that folder, look for the file "HwMediaCenter.apk" and touch to install it
If you get a warning not to install apps from unknown sources accept to install this app and proceed
The installation will start now and finish with an error message, which is to be expected
Restart your phone
The annoying default music player should have disappeared. The reason being that due to the unsuccessful installation attempt it got removed/deactivated.

Sound dissapeared on android multimedia

Hi there, im using double din android multimedia. Android 4.4.4. The problem is: after one kid played with it ( looked for a music, tried some apps and so on) the sound dissapeared. I still can hear keybord button sounds as i press it, but radio, music and connected devices ( such as phone) - no sound. It shows that the file is playing and everything - but silent. I did factory reset but nothing changed. What can it be? Some guy said something about root explorer app. As i remember, i had this app installed. Now it was gone. Ive downloaded it again but it did not solve the problem. What should i do when i download root explorer app? What files should i root or if i install it - then everything is already rooted? Any ideas?
