1. until warranty
what is my phone lose?
Sent from my LT25i using Tapatalk 2
You loose nothing and gain freedom
On a serious note, you void your warranty, sort of. Means if something bad happened to your phone and the root cause of the failure is found to be due to software, it's not covered by warranty.
Btw, you will lose bravia engine as well but I think iirc there's a way to regain it, somebody posted that awhile back.
Root can give you more already, try root first.

Hello,
I followed this thread to root my phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186368
Then i installed this custom recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187363
Then i wanted to overclock using this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172888
But my phone need's unlocked bootloader in order to do this. (and i don't want to unlock it)
Any kernel that allow overclock with locked bootloader ?
Thanks
Im afraid not,AFAIK there is only one kernel that allows overclocking, and that is the DoomKernel by the awesome DoomLord
....
Then i'll wait a way to unlock bootloader without loosing warrantly thanks

You will be waiting for a looong time. No one has managed to get the DRM keys back after relocking the bootloader.

You may actually want to have a good read of the terms and conditions of the Sony website for unlocking. It doesn't specifically mention that it breaks your warranty. It states that if your phone is send back for repair, it has to be on stock firmware. IF you are unable to do this they will charge you a service fee to have a technician repair the software (I'm guessing J-tagging or something more professional?). They do mention the fee for that was expensive. So basically if say for example you permanently lost radio (signal) because of a hardware issue that you in no way caused by flashing some ROM or tweak that messes with the drivers for that, it should be fine. It's a hardware thing - you didn't cause it. If you hardbrick your device and they have to bring it back from the dead, they'll charge you. If you overclock it like a mofo and burn out the CPU they will likely charge you for the initial software flash and charge you again for either repair/replacement of the logic board or complete phone.
That's the gist of it from memory. There may of course be some little clause or something that they could get out of it if they wanted that I skimmed too quickly, but you'd probably find if it's a genuine problem from them they would repair it. If you'd clearly messed with it and stuffed it, they wouldn't. Sounds like a normal warranty to me
EDIT: just had a quick gander at it again and here we go "Please note that you may void the warranty of your device and/or any warranty from your operator if you unlock the boot loader". I think the key word from that would be "may".
and also " In addition, if you brick the device, it is your own responsibility. " The same thing could be said with a locked bootloader and you stuffed something up trying to root it or hack it in some other way.
ROMAur allows to to change the cpu speed, how well this works is another thing. I have heard somewhere that there is some type of throttling within the standard kernel which still prevents the phone reaching the full potential, but custom kernel gets around this.
I have rechecked this and they have removed the overclock in the downloadable version

Probably because it didn't work properly, I have had a look and just cleaned those up about 5 days ago, on all my devices
So the title isnt all to clear, however I am very new to Android. I am wondering if rooting gives you CWM; however I do not wish to have CWM because then I have to flash to get rid of it and if i am correct that means I void my warranty. So could I root with Bin4ry's root method and then manually do what I want to be done without ClockWorkMod?
Thanks in advance and any replys are appreciated
Oh yeah I have a Xperia T!

no, rooting does not give you recovery.
Flashing roms DOES NOT void your warranty, only unlocking the bootloader will do that.
If you are going to root I recommend that you install CMW, otherwise its very difficult to do things manually. You need to ask yourself "WHy do I want to root my device?" and realise that installing CMW DOES NOT void your warranty.

Thanks, I might root later I wanted to just add the Acid Music mod. I'm going to leave it for a while and maybe root after I have had my phone for a year or so.

You were going to try and add that without CMW? wow!! How were you going to do that!
Plus, you will read in that OP that the only way to get rid of that mod is to restore a backup, which requires CMW, and most people have had problems with that mod. Personally I don't believe it works at all and if it actually changes anything then it ruins phone performance. or those who say it does not ruin performance I believe they are only getting a placebo effect.
The only true way of getting a better sound performance is via kernel level tweaks not by flashing these kind of mods.
I suggest you root (If you follow the instructions it is 100% safe) and install recovery. It has NO disadvantages at all. And you can restore your phone back to factory settings via updating by official Sony software so that no warranty is lost and no one will know what you have done
I agree 100%
I tried Acid Mod twice now.
Not only is it a waste of time but its also a good way to get stuck in boot loop.
If you do try it, you are definitely going to need to backup first.

Hi all I had unlocked my bootloader and root it and instakl cm10.2.1 after that I hate it my stock rom was the best so I relockef my bootloader and restore the stock but Bravia not working in album just in videos so what is the solution now and my friend have one with the same that I have the same customization can I backup the ta from his phone and put them on mine
Please help
Please all help me
You can't do anything if you didn't backup your TA partition. Your DRM keys are gone forever.
Do not restore anyone else's TA partition to your device. You will irreversibly and permanently hard brick it.

So this is the end
And why I can't

Please dont say it
Even if my friends phone have the same Rom and same customization and from the same reseller
Don't do it unless you want to throw your phone in the trash. You will 100% brick it. I'm not just making this up.

I'm sorry but how many times can I say this?
You absolutely, 100% cannot fix it.
The DRM keys that allow Bravia engine to work are permanently erased and you didn't make a backup. If you restore them from another device, you will destroy your phone.

They aren't going to get back after you haven't made any TA backup. You'll not be able to use „Sony PC Companion“ as well, as from your phone is with unlocked bootloader. Even if you have relocked it, it hasn't recovered your DRM keys, becouse they are being stored in your UNIQUE TA Backup.
Why can't you flash any other phone TA?
Becouse every phone has unique and different baseband, DRM keys and other keys which are checking when phone's booting up. If phone fails signatures checkpoint, it stops and doesn't start anymore. That's mean, then your phone is completely bricked and you are permanently screwed all things up.
What's differend between simple brick and DRM/TA brick?
In some cases, you CAN give another "live" to your phone, but in TA partition brick-up, - you can't unbrick it anyway anymore. It's just impossible and permanently. Becouse phone fails to check signatures and other stuff. As much as I know, you will be not able to use flashtool, either fastboot functions, becouse your phone won't go through the black screens, in conclusion - it just wont start anymore.
I think I've explained everything understandable.
Sorry if I made some mistakes (in language, either in some my explaination).
If i'm wrong, please correct me.

OK, then I should have said no. The DRM keys will never come back. Ever. They might decide to let Bravia Engine work without them though, but who knows.

They won't fix it, becouse you void warranty by unlocking your bootloader and even with relocking will not fix this issue, becouse at first what they will gonna do is check DRM keys, - is them in their right places. But don't worry, with unlocked bootloader you can use X-Reality instead, just browse for mods.
Seriously, if you did a modicum of research on the forums before unlocking your bootloader, you would have realised that the first thing to do after rooting is take a backup of your TA partition.
Had you done so, you would be able to restore your device to its pristine, original state any time with just a few mouse clicks.
You didn't, and are now paying the consequences.
It's no use cursing Sony, and saying Samsung is the be all and end all when it comes to flashing and returning to stock because that is untrue. In fact Samsung is the WORST in that regard, because as soon as you flash anything, you will trip the Knox "warranty void" e-fuse, which permanently DESTROYS a part of your hardware, and is irreversible. You can't even flash older firmware after that.
Give me Sony any day.

Hey guys, I have this phone for half a month and it's awesome! So now, I'm on a dillema:
Should I root and lose my warranty or not?
I've heard that this "KNOX" thing is permament.
Right now it says:
"KNOX WARRANTY VOID : 0"
I'm pretty sure that if I do try to root , it'll change to " 1 "
What do you think?
Thanks!

All my other devices are rooted...
Still, that stupid Knox made me not want to do it.
Who cares, I still did it (even though now my warranty is supposedly void)
You can reset the knox counter and go to the service center. I've done it in my note 2 they didn't notice or have any issues

Hi guys,
I want to root my device using the guide posted on this forum, but I'm not sure how I would go about restoring it to factory state to regain my warranty in case I need to send the phone for repairs. I previously had a One M7 and the whole process of rooting and flashing stuff was child's play, but it seems much more difficult with the xperia, espeically there seem to be nowere near as much guides and resources.
Has any of you done what I'm asking about? Is it even possible? This question is literally the only thing holding me back from rooting the phone, as the uselessness of my SD card is starting to seriously annoy me and the fact that we were promised the lollipop update in February and it's still not here nearly halfway through March.
Use Sony PC Companion to flash back to completely stock.

Firstly downgrade to a rootable firmware(ftf) using Flashtool. Then root. Backup TA partition (most important step). After this, even if you unlock bootloader, your TA partition is safe. After that if you want to restore warranty you may go back to the rootable firmware using Flashtool and then root and restore the TA partition. Viola you have your warranty back. Restoring the TA partition locks the bootloader and gives back the DRM keys and so you get your warranty.you may even flash the firmware all over to unroot (just to be on the safe side)
DO NOT UNLOCK BOOTLOADER BEFORE BACKING UP TA PARTITION OF YOU CARE ABOUT WARRANTY
